"Sorry I'm late, Mr. Thomas. My sitter cancelled at the last second and I had to pick up the girls from school," Seamus ranted, pulling two small girls behind him into his lawyer's office. The tall, dark-skinned man he addressed stood up immediately and made his way around the desk, a bright smile on his face.

"No need to apologize, Mr. Finnigan. Hello, girls. I'm Dean."

"Girls, this is my lawyer. This is Ruby, and Evie." He placed a hand on each girl's head in turn as he said their names.

"Are you going to help my daddy?" Evie asked. Seamus couldn't help but chuckle. She had only just met his divorce lawyer and she was already comfortable enough to ask him questions. But then Evie was the more sociable of his daughters, even for being the younger.

Mr. Thomas grinned at the little girl, kneeling down to be on her level. "I'm sure going to try, little miss."

Ruby poked her head out from behind Seamus. She was much more shy around strangers and hated talking in general. Seamus couldn't relate to her.

"But we'll still get to see Mummy, right?"

"Of course you will, Ru," Seamus assured her. "Your mum and I would never keep you from each other. Why don't you two go play while I talk to Mr. Thomas."

The men sat down and went over the case while the girls played in the next room. When everything had been covered, the lawyer went suspiciously silent.

"Your girls are adorable."

"Thank you."

"I hope it's not too forward - it's probably inappropriate given that I'm your divorce lawyer, but I've been thinking for a while, and well, I'd like to take you out for tea sometime. Maybe dinner? The girls could come along."

Seamus hesitated before grinning. "I'd like that."
