Together

Against all odds, the wedding of James Potter and Lily Evans had gone off without a hitch. Despite a literal war brewing outside, and figurative one brewing between the bride and her sister, everyone in attendance had a marvelous time. The groomsmen - Sirius, Remus, and Peter - were on guard the whole night. No matter the situation - rowdy crowd, not enough food, torn wedding dress - they were on hand to fix it.

But as the night finally came to a close, the bride and groom were off on their honeymoon, and only a few stragglers remained on the dance floor, the three young men couldn't help but feel like while their best mate had gained something, they had lost out.

"What do we do now?" Peter asked, sipping a butterbeer.

They were sat in one of the changing rooms, having wanted a little privacy for their melancholy. They had initially taken separate chairs, but soon Sirius pulled both men down onto the lone sofa for cuddles. They were now passing around butterbeer and bits of chocolate like they used to in their dorm.

"Well, we're sit here and finish this hoard of chocolate Remus saved up over the night, and then probably pass out here," Sirius answered, reaching for the bottle.

"I meant now that James is married. He's not gonna want to spend as much time with us."

"Maybe that's a good thing," Remus suggested, divvying out more of his chocolate bar. "With him gone more often, we don't have as much of a need to hide."

Sirius nodded enthusiastically. "That's right. And Lily doesn't seem the jealous type, if we did finally tell them the truth."

"You don't think James would have a problem with… this?" Peter wondered, referencing the way the three were lounged together, their legs intertwined in a heap. Sirius grabbed his hand and brought it to his lips.

"You worry too much, babe. James is a good friend, and he'll be happy that we're all together."
