A/N: Another warning, about halfway through this chapter is another spicy Lucia and Amelia scene. It's the first one with Amelia in it, so if you want to skim past it, you should be fine.

It was past Nine O'clock by the time Luz had finished at the Blight's, and the sun had long sunk past the horizon. After insisting to Amity that she'd be fine walking home alone, that her lended purse was filled to the brim with glyphs, and that she'd be safe, Luz kissed her girlfriend's cheek and started the trek back to the Owl House that cut through Bonesborough.

The night had clearly been a bit of a bust compared to what Amity had hoped for, and what Luz had expected, but she still walked with a skip in her step. The echoes of all of the "Te quieros" she and Amity had spoken to each other still rang in her ear. Each time Amity would say it in her shaky accent, Luz would reply it back in perfect Spanish, and Amity would say it again. Spoken affection under the guise of a pronunciation lesson. It hadn't taken Amity long to get it down pat, but they still exchanged it back and forth for quite a while.

Luz wasn't sure if she'd ever been this happy before. It was like each moment with Amity kept topping her previous happiest moment with the girl. It almost felt like too much, and she kept having to hold back the urge to sing at the top of her lungs, hoping a Disney-esq music and dance number would break out around her.

She was in a magical fantasy land, after all, and while she certainly hadn't tried that out yet, it could work for all she knew.

Luz was just about to test this hypothesis, sucking in a lungful of air to belt out the first note, when she was interrupted by a Coven Guard crashing into her. Luz let out a yelp, putting her hands up into a defensive position, ready to fight, but the guard brushed past her, hurrying off to wherever they were needed.

Luz let out a sigh of relief. A day really was all she needed between a crime to being relatively ignored by the guards again. Her eyes trailed after the guard, pondering where it was they were going, or if they were chasing after someone, only to see said Guard skid to a halt in front of a familiar figure and give a brief salute, before likely giving some kind of report. With the masks on, Luz could never tell, it just always looked like they were standing there having a staring contest instead of talking to one another when viewed from a distance.

Luz slyly decided to quench her curiosity, a mischievous smile forming on her face. As quietly as she could, she made her way over to the guards, missing out on whatever they were saying as the Guard who bumped into her nodded their head, saluted once more, and left, leaving just the Guard she knew.

"Whatcha doing, Golden Guard?" Luz asked loudly as she stepped in beside him.

She bit her lip, keeping in a laugh as he lept a foot into the air, clutching at his heart. "Oh, come on, shouldn't someone like you always be "on guard?"" She nudged him with her elbow, and she could practically see him scowling behind his mask.

"What in the world are you doing here, human?" He asked, then did a double take as he took in what she was wearing, "And why are you dressed like that?"

She smirked smugly, "This hot mama had a date tonight!"

"… Who in their right mind would want to date you?" Hunter asked flatly.

Luz gasped, scandalized and offended. Crossing her arms, she bit back, "Big words coming from someone who's single!"

She didn't actually know if he was or not, but seeing his body deflate at least confirmed her suspicions. "Hey, I'm just really busy. I have a job to do, you know?" He said defensively.

Luz waved his words off, "Excuses, excuses. The point is I am clearly superior when it comes to wooing the ladies."

Hunter crossed his arms, rolling his eyes behind his mask. "So, did you just come over here to bother me, or…?"

Luz nodded, "Mostly just to bother you, yeah. You don't exactly look busy, you're just standing here."

Hunter gave a long suffering sigh, "I'm just here overseeing some new trainees on their patrol routes. This used to be Lilith's job, but ever since the duties were split between me and Kikimora, I've been stuck with the newbies."

Luz nodded, patting his arm in mock sympathy, "It must be such a tedious job, training a new generation of corrupt guards. You poor wittle golden baby."

Her brow raised in realization, "Wait, is that why you were out on patrol last night?"

"Yes." Hunter admitted after a moment's hesitation, then he snapped at her with, "And they aren't corrupt, they're just lazy, and I'm going to whip them into shape. Why are you complaining anyway, you've always used it to your advantage."

Luz glared, "Yeah, I use it to walk free after stealing something I tried to pay for. But there are a lot worse crimes your goon squad overlook because it's convenient for them. Unless there is money in it for them by bringing in a bounty, or a personal grudge, they don't seem to care who gets hurt around them."

Hunter wisely chose not to comment on any of that, remaining silent and composed behind his mask. Luz shot him a glare that he seemed to ignore, and she wished he'd take the dumb mask off so she could see his stupid face. His mask made him too unreadable.

Luz was about ready to walk off, but Hunter's voice stopped her, making her turn around. "It's late out, do you need an escort home?"

Luz made a face, "What? Why?"

Hunter folded his arms in a huff, "Well, you just raised a big fuss about crime and how incompetent you think my guards are. I figured you might not feel, I don't know, safe walking back alone this late? I'm trying to be nice!"

Luz snorted, almost touched by the offer, "Thanks, but I've got plenty of glyphs, and we both know they're enough to kick even your scrawny butt. I'll be fine."

She started to walk off, only for him to tag along anyway. When she sent him a look that was more unamused than she actually felt, he just lifted his hands defensively, "I'm just gonna walk you to the end of Bonesborough, just in case. The Night markets attract plenty of the wrong crowd."

"Alright, fine. But no farther than that. Eda told me I wasn't allowed to bring home any more strays after I adopted an Echo Mouse." Luz teased, hoping to continue to rile the young man up.

It seemed to be working, too, as he clenched his fists at his sides, "I am not a stray animal!" He seethed.

"Well, you sure do whine like one."

There was always something funny about watching the normally cool, if energetic Golden Guard pout using his entire physical body with an astounding lack of dignity. Luz wondered if his exaggerated body language came from wearing a mask all the time. It was hard to show people you were overly confident and looking down on them if they couldn't see an upturned nose, after all.

Together they walked, mostly in silence outside of Hunter's grumbling about why he even bothered being nice to her. Eventually he shut up, but that didn't make Luz feel any better, because despite his mask she could feel his eyes on her, leering.

Clutching her bag tighter, Luz glared at him, "I'm flattered you think I'm so attractive, but I'd really prefer you keep your eyes on the road. I'm a taken lady now, you lost your chance!"

Hunter blinked, then laughed in her face, "What? No, sorry. You're like, ten anyway. No, I was looking at your bag. You said you had glyphs in there, right?"

Luz stuck her tongue out at him, "I'm fourteen, you jerk. I'll be fifteen in October. And yeah, there are a lot of them in my bag. Wanna find out?"

Hunter's mask tilted curiously, "I have no clue what an October is, human. Anyway, that's unimportant. H-how many glyphs do you have again?"

Luz shot a playful grin at him, "Wouldn't you like to know? Oh, but you would, wouldn't you? You did seem to be pretty interested in them back in Latissa, even though they're "forbidden magic," you bad boy."

Hunter avoided her gaze, "I'm just interested in them for historical and educational purposes. Stuff like that shouldn't be used, but… I also think they shouldn't be erased. There's a lot you can learn from the old ways, even if they weren't the right ways."

"Eda says that's all bupkis and propaganda. Magic is magic, no matter how it's done." Luz looked up at Hunter, trying to see his eyes through his mask, but it was difficult when the slits were so small and he wasn't in the mood to look at her. "But…"

She trailed off, and finally the masked man looked at her, wanting her to continue, "If you keep an open mind about it, I'd be willing to teach you about them, if you want?" She offered, shooting him a friendly smile. The best way to dispel his stupid notions about her glyphs was to give him a chance to be less ignorant about them, after all.

"And you'd really just do that, for little old me?" Hunter asked, his voice betraying his sarcasm and disbelief towards her offer.

Luz however powered through it with optimism, "Well, yeah! I mean, I'd have a few rules before you came-"

"Like?"

Luz didn't even feel annoyed over being interrupted, if he was actually entertaining the idea of joining their lessons. "Well, for one, if you come, you'd have to come as Hunter. No Golden Guards allowed."

Hunter nodded, that sounded fair. He could leave his job for his patrols, not for his lessons. "Anything else?"

Luz pointed at him with a sharp finger, "No "Wild magic is evil" propaganda. All my homies hate that stuff. You have to come into it with an open mind, or else you're not going to learn anything. Also, don't feed Hooty during the lessons, we've put him on a diet and he can be really persuasive when he wants to be."

Luz stuck out her hand, and Hunter paused. "I'll think about your offer. It's certainly a one of a kind opportunity."

Luz nodded, "That's fine with me. Take all the time you want. If you want to stop by, we start lessons at noon on weekends, and every other morning on school days and hour before classes start. I hope to see you then!"

Hunter was almost moved by how sincere she was with that statement, and reached to shake her hand and seal the deal, only for her hand to swirl around his and smack it away, and the human took off while making a face at him, "Too slow again, Hunter! That's two points for the human!"

As she ran off Hunter realized she'd left him halfway into the woods, when he'd only meant to take her to the borders of Bonesborough.

Lucia fingered the book in her hand, the third volume in the ever extending series of Azura books. She'd meant to bring this out a few days ago and surprise Luz with their book club, and continue where they left off in the last third of the volume, but… things kept coming up.

By things she meant dates with Amelia. Or just general hangouts. Sometimes a patrol for monsters, but they thankfully hadn't run into many since Luz returned. She felt guilty to be ignoring her sister for so long, especially since she'd only just come home, but she was going to fix that. She had the whole day free, and later in the week she planned to take Luz along with her and Amelia to some creepy book store to research more about demons and monsters. Not that Luz would know it was anything but a fun outing. It was the least she could do to make their last weekend before school started fun.

Lucia raised her hand and gently knocked on Luz's door. Not bothering to wait for a response, she opened the door and poked her head inside, "Luz? Are you busy?"

Luz was laying on her bottom bunk, playing on a handheld Bintendo Swap console, mashing buttons with a look of concentration on her face. Hearing her sister, she paused, and sat up, nearly bonking her head on the top bunk in the process, "Nope! Whatcha need, sis?"

"Well, Hermanita, I thought maybe we could reconvene for our Azura book club?" Lucia said with a grin, revealing the book she'd kept behind her back. She'd expected Luz to be ecstatic, to jump out of bed and tell her how much she had missed reading with her big sister, but once again a brief moment of confusion, and even panic seemed to settle on her face. Lucia thought she'd imagined it the other times, but at this point she was sure something was wrong.

"Hey, you okay, Luz?" She asked, concern lacing her voice, "You seem a little off lately?"

Luz quickly shook her head, "No! Not at all! I just forgot we were on… book three, yeah. I'd love to do our… Azure book club with you, sis, but since it's been all Summer, do you think we could start over with the first one?"

Lucia smirked and put her hand over Luz's forehead, "Are you sure you don't have a high temperature? We were almost to book four, your favorite! But if you really want to, I guess we can, we've started over for less before." And they had, when Luz got into an argument with Lucia about an imagined continuity error, and had made them drop book two to go back to book one so she could show Lucia that she'd been wrong.

Lucia never doubted her sister again. Not because she'd never been wrong, but because she learned not to get a geek started on a warpath.

Lucia tossed her copy onto Luz's bed and sat down, uncomfortable and cramped under the low hanging bunk. She remembered when she and Luz used to share it, until Lucia got too tall for the smaller mattresses and got old enough to have her own room. It's not like they had guests over often enough for them to keep the Guest Room anyway, and Lucia had been at that age where she had wanted more privacy anyway.

Luz thankfully didn't seem to have that same issue, being a good head shorter than her older sister, and if she didn't start growing soon, would probably be doomed to remain the shorter sibling.

Luz got up slowly and retrieved a copy of the Good Witch Azura from her desk, looking at the book curiously, as if she'd forgotten it had been there at all. She returned to her bed, climbing into it beside Lucia and handed her sister the book expectantly. Lucia raised an eyebrow as she looked into Luz's big brown eyes, "What, did you want me to read to you or something?"

Luz's eyes lit up, "Would you?"

Lucia laughed, "Alright, fine. But I'm not doing the character voices. I'm not that big of a dork."

She cracked open the cover, leafing through the first few pages of licensing and publishing information and a foreword from the author until she was at the first chapter. She opened her mouth to start reading, but was distracted when Luz started wiggling beside her, until she'd finagled her way into laying down beside Lucia, resting her head on her sister's lap.

Lucia couldn't hold in her amusement, chuckling at her sister's antics. "What is up with you today?" She tousled Luz's hair playfully, which just made her sister laugh as well.

"I don't know, I just want to be comfortable while you read to me."

"I am entirely too soft on you, hermanita" Lucia teased, but didn't shove the girl off of her, instead reopening the book and finally starting to read, "okay, chapter one-"

When Amelia came over just before their book store trip, Luz hadn't been ready, accidentally sleeping in and still needing to shower and get dressed before they could leave.

So while she did that, Lucia had invited Amelia inside. Camila was working the morning shift today, but would be back sometime in the early afternoon, so it was just the three girls today. Knowing that the Noceda matriarch wouldn't be around definitely loosened Amelia up, as she still put on her "Classy, straight-A student" act to keep Camila impressed, even if it wasn't all that inaccurate to how she normally was during school hours anyway.

Amelia had taken a seat on the couch, once again the exact same one Lucia had been using just before she arrived. Despite the abundance of seats to choose from, Lucia refused to take any, insisting that her girlfriend find her own spot.

"You could always just sit in my lap, 'cause I'm not leaving this spot until we're ready to go."

Somehow, that had led to a fierce make out session on the sofa, Lucia straddling Amelia, who true to her word wasn't budging from her position, not that Lucia could complain. Mostly because her tongue was too occupied to do so.

Sitting on her girlfriend's lap had actually made her the taller one for once, which made Lucia's heart pound for reasons she couldn't grasp. She threw her arms around her girlfriend's neck, running her fingers through the green hair that draped down her back, kissing and licking and nibbling as if her life depended on it.

However, she drew back with a short gasp when Amelia's own hands drifted down her back, and clamped firmly on her backside, squeezing Lucia's hindquarters through her jeans. Hearing the intake of air, and obviously feeling the affection on her lips cease, Amelia opened her eyes, looking a bit worried.

"Too much?" She asked, ready to spill out some apologies and release her grip.

Breathlessly, Lucia shook her head, "No, but next time, you're sitting on my lap. All I'm getting is hair to play with!"

They mashed their faces together once more, Amelia's hands staying where they were, as they drank each other in. Kiss after kiss after kiss aft-

"I'm ready!" A familiar singsong voice rang out, and before Lucia or Amelia could even stop they knew it was too late to hide what they'd just been doing. They broke apart, simultaneously glancing towards the hallways where the voice had come from, and were met with a very red faced Luz.

"I'm sorry!" Luz squealed out, covering her eyes at the same time Lucia realized Amelia's hands still had a vice grip on her… assets.

"Hands!" Lucia hissed, and the Bane girl let go as if burned, resulting in her having hover hands and being afraid to even touch Lucia at all and risk scarring the youngest Noceda anymore than she likely had. Lucia shifted off of Amelia's lap, sitting beside her on the couch and trying not to feel embarrassed about her little sister walking in on her in a compromising position. She was failing.

An awkward silence overtook the room, none of the three meeting each other's eyes. Luz in particular was still hiding her face in her hands, which Amelia looked moments away from imitating.

Lucia coughed into her hand, "Uh, look, sorry you had to… walk in on us like that, Luz. We'll- We won't do that anymore. In the living room." She quickly specified, seeing the look Amelia was giving her at the prospect of not doing that at all.

Luz peeked through her fingers, then dropped her hands, face still the shade of a beet, "Um, okay. Sorry, again. I knew you were dating, but…"

Lucia brushed her apologies off, "Don't be sorry, it's our fault. You'll understand when you're dating… Also, don't, you're not allowed to-" She stopped, looking for the proper way to describe what she'd just been doing with Amelia.

"Suck face?" Amelia supplied, still not looking at either Noceda.

"-That, you're not allowed to do that. Ever. With anyone." Lucia finished firmly, her protective big sister instincts kicking in.

Despite her embarrassment, Luz looked at her slyly, "I don't know if I can promise that, it did look like fun."

Lucia pointed accusingly, "Luz Middlename Noceda, don't even joke about that."

Luz crossed her arms and walked away, making obnoxiously loud kissy noises as she left to go find her shoes.

Lucia collapsed into the couch, head in her hands. Beside her, Amelia smirked, "Your sister's a bit of a brat. I like her."

That only elicited a frustrated groan from the other girl.

A short walk and a bus ride later, And the three young women found themselves at the Gravesfield Used Bookstore. It wasn't nearly as big or varied as the library, which Amelia had already checked out and came up empty, but the one thing this store was known for was it's collection of the occult. If any place had answers on what Amelia was, and what she could do, as well as what they were up against in those monsters, it was here.

They entered, the bell above the door ringing as they did so. While the building looked normal on the outside, if a bit worn down, the inside was dark and gloomy. Downright creepy in Lucia's opinion. Above the door was a horseshoe, and around the doorframe were cloves of garlic, which really sold the whole supernatural shtick the place was going for.

The lights overhead were dim, and would have been difficult to read under if not for the natural sunlight that was allowed through the windows. The store itself was mildly claustrophobic, shelves lined a bit too close, and jam packed with books to the point they were being stacked on top of each other, and slid into any nooks or crannies they could fit.

Above them was a second floor, accessible by staircase. The staircase was one of the only open areas of the floor plan, with a table and a few chairs beside it for easy reading access. Each area of the store was loosely labeled, from Fiction to Nonfiction, but most of what they could see was just vaguely and unhelpfully labeled as "occult," a distinction of no help when over half the store was labeled under that category.

The place seemed completely empty of customers, and employees to the point Lucia wondered if maybe they were closed and just forgot to lock up. At least, until she heard the turn of a page over by the cash register.

"Wionna?" Amelia asked, eyebrows askew. Lucia wondered how Amelia could possibly know that, when the employee was hidden behind a thick magazine, but then it lowered just a fraction to reveal bespectacled eyes looming over them.

Lucia didn't exactly know Wionna, despite the fact they'd been in the same classes together since elementary school. It didn't surprise her to see her in a place like this, though, since a creepy little book store needed an equally creepy book worm to tend to it.

Seeing as she had customers, Wionna set her botany magazine aside, not even bothering to put a fake smile on for her customers. "Welcome to Gravesfield's Literary Graveyard, anything in particular you're looking for?"

Amelia approached the counter cheerfully, or as cheerfully as she could in a place as oppressively dreary as this was. "What are you doing here? I haven't seen you since Summer classes ended!"

Wionna seemed to refuse to respond to Amelia's upbeat attitude, "My Dads own the place, and I help man the store when they're busy. It gives me decent spending money, but it's an otherwise boring job."

She seemed to take in who had come in with Amelia. "Oh, did you finally land yourself a date?"

Wionna looked in Luz's direction, "Though I think you're a little old to be dating a middle schooler."

Luz took great offense to that, "Hey, I start my freshman year in just a few days!"

Lucia chuckled inwardly that that was the part Luz was correcting, "And she's dating me, numbskull."

"Well, look at the happy couple." Wionna stated blandly, looking like she'd prefer to be anywhere but here right now. "Now what can I help you with, or can I get back to reading my magazine?"

"Luz, why don't you go pick out a book or two, my treat." Lucia said, sending her sister off with a pat on the back. Luz grinned and took off enthusiastically towards the stacks, prompting Lucia to call out, "No manga this time!"

"Yeah, I think we only have some old copies of Hellsing in stock, that might be a bit intense for her." Wionna agreed, then turned back to Amelia, "And if you're looking for the Romantic Erotica section, it's up on the second floor, towards the back. I'm not really supposed to let you back there unless you're eighteen, but I'm not getting paid enough to care and no one else will know. I'm sure you'll find something to your tastes, girl on girl is pretty popular these days."

Amelia stared with her mouth open and cheeks inflamed at the suggestion, "We're not here for that!"

Lucia raised her hand, "I might be."

She shrank a bit under the uncaring, if mildly amused gaze of Wionna, and the glare of her girlfriend. "What? I'm still new to this whole thing, I could use a few tips!"

Amelia ignored her, "Look, we're just here to look at some creepy books about monsters. I'm sure we can find our own way, but thanks."

She dragged Lucia away by her wrist, prompting Wionna to let out a content sigh. "Another happy customer," She sang dryly, getting back to her reading.

The pair wound up on the second floor anyway, in an attempt to keep Luz as far away from their research as possible. Together they shifted through the shelves, grabbing anything that looked even remotely useful, and added them to an ever expanding pile that they'd haul back to the only table the second floor had.

By the time they'd finished, the old table was creaking under the strain of all the added weight of more than either girl had probably read in their lifetime. "We're just gonna… skim through these, right?" Lucia asked, unsure how they could even do that in a reasonable amount of time.

"Yeah… and we're not putting them back either. That'd be a pain, and Wionna gets paid to do stuff like that. Probably." Amelia added, knowing her laziness was about to land her on someone's shit list.

Lucia shrugged, and reached for the first book on top of the stack nearest, titled "Intro to Demonomics," Flipping through the first few pages. It didn't take her long to decide it was garbage, and nothing of accurate use would be found there, so she tossed it aside, and reached for the next.

This continued for the next hour and a half. She'd gone through so many titles, ranging from "Dr. P's Extraordinary Guide to Mystery and Magic," to one titled "The Necronomicon and You." As she flipped through what looked like a handwritten journal with a handprint and a number as the only label on it's cover, she let out a frustrated groan, then tossed it aside with the rest.

"These are all absolute garbage." She summarized her findings to her girlfriend, collapsing on the table and putting her hands on her head.

Amelia was too absorbed into her own book to respond to that, and the silence made Lucia perk up. "You good over there?"

Amelia nodded, "Actually, I think I found something." She placed the book on the table, turned it around and slid it over to Lucia, who was met with a familiar, fearsome face.

"That's the thing that first attacked us." Looking up at the top of the page, Lucia found a name to go along with the beast, "An Orthrursa? That just sounds like a really bad DnD monster."

Taking the book, she glanced at it's cover, which was stamped with a very simple "Beast Keeping 101" on the front. Flipping through the pages, it struck her odd that it had more in common with a textbook in it's structure than any of the other ones they'd searched through that day.

"It's the closest to a lead we've got so far." Amelia spoke, walking around the table to join Lucia's side. "And it's got more, on a lot of stuff we might see. It could be useful to keep around."

Lucia flipped through a few more pages, "Griffons, Gargoyles, Manticores, Nature Abominations? If I hadn't seen a few of these monsters, these would just sound ridiculous. Check out this entry, for example-"

She pointed to one that showed. A roughly humanoid blob made of shadows. Underneath was a disclaimer that this was just an artist's representation of the beast or demon.

"The Changeling, a mythical creature of unknown origin, widely believed to exist, though no real proof has been found. Changelings, if they exist, are named as such for finding and changing into the forms of dead loved ones, usually children, and taking their place in home and society until they reach their adult phase. If you encounter a Changeling, assume malicious intent. What they want, or what their purpose is, is just as unknown as their existence.

"If proof is found, please contact your local Beast Keeping Coven, or Emperor's Coven members as deemed by the danger you might be in."

Finishing reading the excerpt, Lucia pursed her lips and shook her head, "What do you even think an Emperor's Coven is? Think it's some kind of secret society, or something?"

Amelia couldn't answer, looking a bit lost in thought. Lucia gave her a little shake, snapping her out of it, "Sorry, I was just thinking… for some reason that sounded familiar."

"Maybe it's an Elf thing? And you're just remembering from your early childhood?" The Latina woman supplied.

"That could be it, yeah…"

Knowing they had found something useful, and taking a little pity on Wionna, each girl grabbed a handful of books and crammed them onto the shelves, but left a good bit still on the table. "You go pay for the book, and I'll go find Luz, see if she found anything she'd like to take home." Said Lucia as they headed down the steps down to the first floor.

Despite being an occult focused book store, they only had one aisle dedicated to outright fantasy, so Lucia decided there couldn't be anywhere else Luz could possibly be. Hands in her pockets, Lucia strolled through the store casually, and poked her head around the corner, "Hey Luz, we're about done here, ready… to… go?"

She'd expected to see Luz, sitting haphazardly on the floor with a stack of her own all focused on witches and wizards, but instead her sister wasn't there. In fact, it hadn't looked like she'd been through there at all. "Maybe she was in a Sci-Fi mood today?"

Lucia checked the next aisle, but no, her sister wasn't there, either. She wasn't in the pulp detective fiction, or even sitting at the table browsing through overly violent manga, and that was when Lucia began to panic. "LUZ?!" She cried out, beginning to race through the first floor. She couldn't have just left, Wionna would have said something, right?

"Over here!" Her sister's voice rang out, and Lucia breathed a sigh of relief, then lightly jogged on over to where she'd heard it come from. Luz was standing in the middle of the aisle, a book in her arms that she'd obviously been reading through just a moment before.

"Did you find something?" Lucia asked, holding her hand out to take it.

"Yeah, it was really interesting to read through." Luz nodded, giving her sister the book, "Thanks so much for taking me out today!"

"No problem," Lucia smiled, ruffling her sister's hair and making it a mess. She took a look at the book in her hands, titled, "The Unabridged History of Gravesfield." And felt a wave of confusion wash over her. Turning, she took a look at the sign that designated which area of the bookstore they were in, and she felt oddly cold to see it said "Nonfiction."

She didn't know why, but she couldn't look at Luz the entire time she was paying for the book. There was a feeling deep inside of her that she just couldn't seem to shake. Something that told her things were deeply wrong, and she was a moron for not seeing what was under her nose.

A/N: Dun dun dun! How dare Creepy Luz…. Read a book?! That utter… monster?

Also, I love writing Luz and Hunter's sibling-like dynamic. It brings me joy.

A cut line from the library section, for your amusement:

Amelia to Wionna: "Are- are you baked right now?"

Wionna, cooly: "What exactly did you think I grew in my gardens?"
