An eleven-year-old boy with blonde hair and bright blue eyes walked across platform nine and three quarters, he wore a black three-piece with a white shirt and suit with the jacket being replaced by a black trench coat the crowd parted as he passed due to the chilling aura he let of and his impassive expression. He approached a large red locomotive waiting to take all her passengers north to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry before he boarded the train however he spotted a large group of red-heads out of the corner of his eye in particular one red-head boy being fawned over by a crowd of people. The boy in question was the supposed Boy-Who-Lived, believed to of defeated the Dark Lord Voldemort as a babe yet no one could explain how everyone going of mere speculation.

Not wanting to waste any more time on such a pathetic sight he quickly boarded the train with the hope of finding an empty compartment, luck was on his side as he quickly found one close to the back of the train so he smartly claimed it for himself. Once he was settled in he smoothly pulled out his wand, A sleek piece of white wood that twirled at the top connecting halfway going straight till the tip and had a metallic handle with an unusual looking triangle symbol etched into it the triangle had a circle within it which had a straight line going through it, the young boy cast a quick-locking charm on the door and put up a silencing ward around the compartment blocking out all sound he then sat down and retrieved a book from his coat to read for the duration of the many hours's the journey would take.

Around an hour into his book, he felt a small tug on his magic, and instead of alarming him he simply felt intrigued, the tug continued to get stronger for a few minutes until it suddenly stopped. He felt his head being drawn towards his compartment door which had two figures standing outside it, both female if their outlines were any hint, they tried the door but due to his charm, it didn't budge he chuckled but quickly removed his charm which cased the door to flam open as one of the girls were pulling on it...hard. One girl the one who yanked the door open had brown hair and matching brown eyes, her hair was short much too short for any lady to deem acceptable and she had a beanie on her head, the boy believed they were called 'tomboys' in the muggle world. The other girl however truly captivated him, she had honey blonde hair which stopped just under her shoulders and she had the most beautiful ice blue eyes he had ever seen, the brunette was first to speak up.

"Ahaha sorry about that hehe" she started awkwardly "I and my friend here were hoping we could join you, our former compartment became...rowdy"

"Of course, please make yourselves at home" the boy gestured to the opposite side with a wave of his arm his voice smooth and charming with a smile to match.

They both sat down on the opposite side of him the brunette still looked awkward which got worse once she realized they forgot to close the door after the boy flicked his wand causing it to close and placed the charm back. The beautiful blonde however regarded him with intrigue especially after his casual show of non-verbal magic she was the first to break the silence.

"My name is Daphne Greengrass heiress to the most noble and ancient house of Greengrass" she spoke clearly her face in perfect impassivity, the boy stood and took one of her hands and brushed his lips across her knuckle.

"A pleasure to meet you, Heiress Greengrass" her cheeks tinted pink slightly at his action and offered a pleasant smile.

"Hi, I'm Tracy, Tracy Davis" the girl beside Daphne spoke in a less formal manner, she offered her own hand in which the boy performed the same greeting as he did Daphne.

"A pleasure Miss. Davis" he then gracefully lowered himself into his own seat again and smoothly crossed one leg over the other resting both hands atop his knee "my name is Hadrian" a gentle smile came to his face.

"Just Hadrian?" Daphne asked raising a brow in question.

"My last name is...complicated" he replied causing Daphne to copy his sitting posture her brow still raised "Well it will be announced at the sorting anyway so I suppose it doesn't matter, my name is Hadrian, Hadrian Grindelwald." Daphne's eyebrows shot up in shock while Tracy looked confused.

"Grindelwald? doesn't sound English so I take it your foreign...German?" Tracy asked oblivious to her friend's state of mind.

"Correct, most in the magical world know of my family name unless your muggle-born?" Daphne's eyes showed slight fear at his question while Tracy was unaware of the tension.

"Half-blood actually but I have been muggle raised" she replied with a soft smile clearly proud of her heritage.

Hadrian had nothing against muggle-borns or half-bloods his...dislike was mostly with the muggles themselves although due to muggle influence many muggle-borns tend to at the most annoy him, they always seem to believe they can shape the magical world around their muggle beliefs disregarding traditions and their very culture. The thought caused his anger to rise it must have shown as Daphne froze while Tracy looked concerned, he quickly reeled in his temper and put a calming smile on his face.

"Ah that explains some things then, allow me to explain...my name, Grindelwald, has a certain...reputation in the magical world although it gained the reputation from events long since passed." his vague answer didn't seem to placate Tracy at all but before any more could be said a loud banging on the door gained their attention unknown to the girls, Hadrian, discreetly dropped his silencing wards when he felt the presence of someone outside his door.

With a quick wand flick, Hadrian unlocked the door allowing the guest entry, a boy with whiteish blonde hair and gray eyes sauntered into the compartment while giving the room a quick scan Hadrian also spotted both girl's faces to drop.

"Greengrass, I heard you were in this compartment although why you sit with a half-blood and some nobody instead of some proper company is beyond me" Daphne's face twitched at his words, all the proof Hadrian needed to know she did not want this poor excuse for nobility here.

"Who I decide to keep the company of is none of your business Malfoy" Daphne's voice was cold but it lit Hadrian's blood on fire.

"Once our fathers agree to a betrothal contract it will become my business Greengrass, so it's better to curb these tendencies now don't you think?" Malfoy replied while looking down his nose at everyone in the room.

"Malfoy? I'm familiar with the name" Before Daphne could retort Hadrian decided to add his two cents to the conversation, the Malfoy boy must have taken Hadrian's words the wrong way as he seemed to puff his chest in pride "Yes...Malfoy means 'bad faith' if I'm not mistaken, some history between your family and France I believe, so I'm curious why you think any father with a sound mind would agree to marry their daughter to someone like you? Especially someone as radiant as Heiress Greengrass here."

Daphne's cheeks once again tinted pink at his words while the younger brunette beside her could barely hold in her snickers as for Malfoy his face wen through various shades of red while he stuttered out unintelligible sounds that reminded Hadrian of a peacock

"Who do you think you are to talk to me in such a manner!?" The human peacock shouted, "my father will hear about this!"

"so will mine little ponce, if you make a move against anyone in this room you will feel the full wrath a Grindelwald can bring" As Hadrian spoke it was like the room temperature dropped with every word.

"G-g-g-Grindelwald?" Malfoys' face went from anger to fear in an instant causing a smirk to morph onto Hadrian's face.

"Apologies I never introduced myself my name is Hadrian Grindelwald son of Gellert Grindelwald" his words left Malfoy paling with every reveal as he slowly backed up, once he was clear of the compartment he bolted down the corridor and out of sight.

"Who knew you would be such good Malfoy repellent!" Tracey shouted excitedly causing both Hadrian and Daphne to wince "hehe sorry"

"I would like to apologize heiress Greengrass" the beautiful blonde looked surprised at Hadrian's words and the sincerity in his voice "I'm aware you can most likely handle fools like Malfoy but I have always been taught by my father to put fools in their place" his charming smile was back in place.

"It's fine Mr. G-Girndelwald I appreciate you coming to my defense although making an enemy of Malfoy will come with many risks." she obviously wasn't comfortable saying his name but Daphne still gave him a soft smile in return as she ran her hand through some hair that settled over her shoulder.

"It gladdens me to hear that heiress Greengrass and please call me Hadrian Mr. Grindelwald is my father" Daphne's smile widened at his words and she replied

"Only if you call me Daphne, Hadrian" The blonde-haired boy felt a pleasant shiver go down his spine when he heard her say his name.

"The same applies to you Miss Davis I insist you also call me Hadrian" he barely pulled his eyes away from the amazing blonde to address the brunette

"Hehe of course as long as you call me Tracy" she had a mischievous glint in her eye as she glanced between Hadrian and Daphne.

The rest of the journey passed smoothly with no more interruptions, not for lack of other tying though, Hadrian just kept his charms in place and enjoyed the company of the two ladies in his company, most of the time it was Hadrian reading his book and answering the odd question here and there while Daphne listened to whatever Tracy wanted to gossip about mostly consisting of boys or the latest music on magical wireless.

At some point during the journey Tracy left announcing she needed the lady's room leaving Hadrian and Daphne alone, the girl looked anxious and Hadrian had a good guess as to why.

"Daphne, I know my name carries a certain weight of fear with it but I intend no muggle-born or half-blood any harm at least not for the reason of their blood purity, if one were to get on my bad side then that is down to them and them alone." Daphne released a sigh of relief at his words "Yourself and Tracy would be the last two people I would hurt anyway as you are the first two friends I made since returning to England."

"I will admit I was worried, I know your father targeted those muggles mostly but I was still a little fearful I suppose." Daphne offered him a genuinely warm smile while she fiddled with her hand in her lap.

"Of course I understand, you are looking out for a friend I would be disappointed if you didn't" Hadrian matched her smile while running a hand through his short spiky blonde hair.

They passed the rest of the time Tracy was away in comfortable silence with them both reading a book, once the girl returned she went back to talking the blonde's ear off about more mundane topics Hadrian had no interest in so he went back to his book. By this time the train was speeding through the countryside most likely halfway through the overall journey, half an hour later Hadrian noticed Daphne fidgetting most likely due to her getting annoyed with Tracy's incessant gossiping, Hadrian could relate. Eventually, Tracy seemed to doze off leaving both blondes to read in silence, something they both were thankful for.

It eventually reached the point where an announcement blasted out through the train informing all passengers to get into their robes as they are close to Hogsmead station, Hadrian stepped out to allow the girls to get dressed he noticed many people doing similar things in the corridor with some boys running off to change in the toilets he just rolled his eyes at the childish behavior, not long later the girls let him back in and stepped out to allow him to change. Once they all had their school robes on the train gradually came to a halt outside a station with a sign that read 'Hosgmead Station' Hadrian led the trio as they disembarked the train where they heard a booming voice.

"Firs' year's this way firs' year's!" a large man holding a lantern called out Hadrian and the girls approached behind the other first years.

They walked down a trail through some woods many of the other children laughed as they continued to trip and fall, Tracy got a few in before she realized her two friends weren't laughing so she tried her best to hold it in or at least hide it. The walk itself was pleasant for Hadrian as he was able to place some grip and stain removing charms on both his and Daphne's shoes and clothes plus the company of Daphne walking beside him was certainly an enjoyable sensation, out of the corner of his eye he noticed her slip trip over a protruding root luckily Hadrian was quick to steady her however this caused Daphne to get an adorable blush, wanting to help the angelic girl Hadrian offered her his arm which she took with a soft smile. The rest of the walk passed uneventfully until they came to a stop at a large body of water with several rowboats lining the shore, the large man instructed the first years to get into said boats but no more than four to a boat so naturally Hadrian, Daphne, and Tracy got in one together along with a fairly tall black-skinned boy who introduced himself as Blaise Zabini.

The two blondes sat side by side in the back seats unknowingly sitting closer than what might be considered socially appropriate while the other two sat in front of them talking about various Hogwarts topics and when the subject of houses was brought up Tracy turned to include her to 'gossip fuel' as she now started calling them. Daphne was the first to answer saying Slytherin was the house she was aiming for with Tracy and Blaise both saying the same then they all turned their eyes onto Hadrian.

"Ah well, I suppose Ravenclaw or Slytherin for me, knowledge is power after all and they two are the best when it comes to knowledge and power" he winked at the girl beside him when he finished causing her to blush and giggle at his indirect compliment.

Conversation from all boats quickly died down when they came into view of the majestic sight that is Hogwarts, A huge castle sitting atop a cliff with high spires reaching up to the clouds it was the very definition of a fortress. The boats slowly came to a stop as they reached the shore allowing the soon to be students to disembark with Hadrian offering his hand to help Daphne out and without either of the pair noticing Daphne linked her arm through Hadrians again as they began their ascent into the castle all the other children were pointing and gossiping at everything they could spot by the time they reached the entrance most of their faces were red with exhaustion, excitement, and nervousness, a stern-looking elderly lady stood at the top of a small flight of stairs while nodding her head as she looked between each student.

"Firs' Year's Professor McGonagall" The large man bowed his head to the witch while gesturing to the first years behind him.

"Thank you, Hagrid I'll take it from here" her voice matched her expression Hadrian noticed, Hagrid gave one last head bow then walked off back the way they came "You will line up in an orderly fashion in which you will then enter the great hall when called" she gave one last scan before walking off herself.

Many others began speculating what the sorting ceremony would be like, from boring ideas where they can choose what house they want and simply join all the way to Ludacris ideas where they need to fight a troll. Hadrian wasn't sure what it would be himself and when he asked the girls and Blaise they all replied not knowing either so Hadrian did the smart thing and simply waited until he felt Daphne squeeze closer to him.

"Everything okay Daphne?" he asked looking down at the girl noticing she shivered slightly.

"Sorry, it's just...colder than I thought it would be" she looked away trying to hide her pink-tinted cheeks, Hadrian pulled his wand out and cast a quick warming charm on the girl watching as she sighed in relief but did not move to step away from him not that he was going to complain.

"You casting magic?" a brown bushy-haired girl asked her tone snobbish "I read all the books in advance for our year I know most spells, I thought people had to say the incantation for a spell to work but I didn't hear you say one unless you whispered it th-" she was interrupted by Hadrian raising his hand.

"I understand and appreciate curiosity as much as the next witch or wizard but I would recommend reeling in that attitude, especially if your muggle-born as many raised in the magical world may take offense to be spoken at in such a manner" The blonde boy explained calmy however the girl seemed to take offense to his wording.

"It's very rude to talk to someone like that, I may be muggle-born but that doesn't mean you can look down on me" the bossy girl crossed her arms while glaring at Hadrian.

Before Hadrian could reply several screams rang out from the other first years the cause was four ghosts floating above them bickering about some nonsense involving someone named peeves while Hadrian was looking at the ghosts he noticed Daphne glaring at the bushy-haired girl.

"Ignore her Daphne she will get her due especially with an attitude like the one she has" he squeezed her arm in comfort casuing her face to relax.

McGonagall soon returned telling the ghosts to leave the first years alone before ushering the children through two large oaken doors, inside there were four long tables each filled with students each table represented one of the four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. At the end of the room was the staff table where each professor sat at in the center was the man himself, Albus Dumbledore, Hadrian noticed the headmaster's eyes instantly lock onto him which isn't much of a surprise after all he resembles his father very closely. Dumbledore offers Hadrian a smile and nod of his head which the boy returns gladly to see his father's message made it here in time. McGonagall stood beside a stool which had an ancient look witch's hat sat atop it looked like a normal hat until a mouth appeared and it began to sing, Hadrian blocked out the obnoxious singing and after a glance at the blonde on his arm he wasn't the only one he moved his eyes to the ceiling admiring the amazing magic that created it to look like the night sky with shining starts he was pulled from his thoughts when the strict witch raised a parchment and began calling names.

"Abbot, Hannah"

The names continued with various students going to all four different houses with his two friends and Blaise going into Slytherin along with the Malfoy ponce however it eventually got to one name that completely caught Hadrian's attention.

"Potter, Kyle"

Hushed words and pointing quickly spread through the hall as a boy with red hair and hazel eyes stepped forward, the same one he saw on platform nine and three-quarters. Seeing the boy this close up caused Hadrian's mind to bring up old forgotten memories.

"You'll never be as good as me Harry! I'm the boy who lived, I defeated a dark lord"

"Pfff he's not worth playing with, he's no better than a squib"

"Harry we are not getting rid of you, it's just living with them is for your safety as much as ours"

"Take my hand child and you shall have the world"

He was pulled back to reality when thunderous applause erupted from the table of lions with Potter strolling over like he owned the place and considering how much they kiss the ground he walks on he probably does. Hadrian felt sickened by the sight but any outward showing is beneath him so he kept his face passive while he patiently waited for his turn to be called and if he was honest he coudlnt wait tosee their reactions.

"G-Grindlewald, Hadrian?" there was confusion in her voice and no small amount of alarm, a feeling shared by many in the hall.

Hadrian casually approached the stool while glancing around taking in everyone's expression, fear...absolute fear, he gladly drank in the emotion. The only ones showing no fear were Daphne, Tracy, and any muggle-borns new to the magical world the latter will no doubt soon change their tune when they begin reading about his family name most likely due to rumors reading around the school plus once the school gets a taste of his power they will rally to him after all the sheep follow the shepherd.

The son of Grindelwald gracefully sat on the stool while the professor placed the hat on his head, he immediately heard a voice speaking in his mind.

"Ah, the son of the powerful Grindelwald and yet not his son? how curious" its voice was distant yet close

"My father is my father Hat by blood and by choice" he replied defensively

"Yes, yes whatever you say Grindelwald...hmm your occlumency shields are strong no doubt your father's hard training, I will need you to lower them if I am to sort you" he could feel slight prodding against his shields like knocking on a door.

"Fine but if you delve anywhere I don't want there will be consequences" Hadrian warned while complying with the hat's request.

That's when he felt it, memory upon memory appearing in his mind, ones he forgot and others more recent. He saw children playing quidditch in the distance while he sat alone reading. In another, he saw adults and children singing happy birthday to a small red-haired boy while he was pushed off to the side.

A more recent memory was of his father handing him his wand followed by Hadrian standing in the center of a training room that resembled a battlefield with craters and fires all around the young boy, a new memory came up one of his most treasured, an image of his father smiling down at him telling him words he always longed to hear.

"Always know Hadrian that I am so proud of you"

Hadrian forced his shields back up after that last memory pushing the Hat out of his inner mind, That Hat seemed to be lost in thinking about everything it just saw while Hadrian tried to clear his mind from reliving the past.

" I saw you have a powerful ambition that's for sure and certainly no lack of cunning, you're also very knowledgeable and have a strong desire to understand the deepest depths of magic...Slytherin or Ravenclaw would be best for you young Grindelwald...hmm...yes yes it's decided you shall find your home in..."

AN: So I wanted to give a shot at writing a Harry Potter fic, I'm not the best writer so please let me know what you all think, ideas and criticism are welcome.

Hadrian's house will either be Slytherin or Ravenclaw it will affect the narrative a bit depending on which house he goes into, as you saw in this chapter Kyle Potter is in Gryffindor so if Hadrian was put in Slytherin he will have more run-ins with the golden trio but if he was in Ravenclaw he will still be involved but a lot more discreet.

I know there will probably be people wondering about the origin of Hdrian Grindelwald (although most probably figured it out by the end of this chapter) but to clarify some other aspects:

1. Kyle Potter is the boy who lived, he isn't incompetent but he isn't going to be a prodigy as I feel with Lily Evans as a mother he certainly would be studious.

2. Dumbeldore is not manipulative or evil and his duel with Grindelwald played out as canon but what happened after is where it changes in this story, it will be revealed in the future.

2. Hadrian/Daphne pairing (no multi) in this chapter I know I portrayed them as very close even after only just meeting but there is a very good reason for that, Hadrian's side will be explained in a future chapter but as for Daphne hers is fairly obvious, she is a Slytherin at heart so she is cunning and ambitious so getting on good terms with someone who is potentially really powerful is great for her future. Also depending on which house he gets into will determine how much extra time they spend together after all if he's in Syltherin it will make it easier.

Any more questions feel free to ask and I shall answer where possible and if there are any problems please let me know.

THANKS, AND I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT!
