Fanfiction Recommendations:

This section lists completed classics that I've read throughout the years, mostly because the average reader probably won't see these fics unless they were specifically looking for them. There is no order in these, and I'm too lazy to categorise them.

1) Those Who Love Monsters by gabriel blessing - A Bakemonogatari/Medaka Box Crossover that puts Hitoyoshi Zenkichi in Araragi Koyomi's role, though more focused on the Medaka Box side of things. For those that follow Medaka Box, I'd like to draw your attention to the date the fic was published and last updated then compare it with the date Medaka Box chapters have been released; it's uncanny how gabriel seemed to actually predict the current chapters while successfully integrating Zenkichi into the Kizumonogatari story and developing his character believably. And don't get me started on that epilogue...! gabriel has captured what makes both series so distinct, not to mention made me chuckle at Kumagawa's antics for the first time (I never really understood why Kumagawa is so popular in the manga. Fans romanticize him as the 'hero of the weak', but I find him to just be a sociopathic troll that fails in his attempts at humor. Meh, to each their own).

2) Fang Vice Addiction by Traingham - While I don't normally delve into the Mahou Sensei Negima section, and the only reason I even found this fic was because of Traingham's Stalker's Log, I must say this story has cemented my eyes on the possibilities of timetravel, history, and my aggravation that Evangeline has the body of a ten year old. Negima fans, read and rejoice!

3) Never Cut Twice by shadowmaster62 - A Naruto/Temari pairing that had my jaws aching and ribs burning from laughter, and the one masterpiece that made me decide to pick up Naruto as something to follow...until Shippuuden happened. Still, in my opinion, shadowmaster62 has captured what made pre-timeskip Naruto awesome. It had ninjas that were actually ninjas, it had humor that was actually humorous, and it had characters that actually did something.

4) Browncoat, Green Eyes by nonjon - When I read this, I had no idea what Firefly/Serenity was. Yes, woe is me, but that did not stop me from appreciating all the nuances nonjon spun with this laugh-out-loud crossover between Firefly and Harry Potter. Introduced by my friend Overhaul, nonjon depicts Harry in his typical, humorous manner as the boy-er-man-who-lived finds himself waking up in the future and tries to find out what in Merlin's name happened to the Wizarding World. Trust me, this piece of high-tension humor is far better than my words can describe.

5) Good Enough for Me by Rhino7 - A Kingdom Hearts drabble series focusing on the daily lives of Leon and Tifa, as their relationship evolves from camaraderie to something much, much more. As a drabble series, expect going through a multitude of emotions whilst reading, and when you're done, prepare yourself for another rollercoaster ride with its sequel, These Lines of Lightning. Nobody ever said Squall Leonhart was mister cheerful and Tifa was miss patient, after all.

6) Hanging Ten Saga by The Writer With No Name - I have not watched Stoked, and after reading this, I have no intention of doing so. Why? Because I've been spoiled for Lo/Ben for all eternity. The Writer With No Name weaves an incredible series of the trials of a teen hero while depicting the imagery of a sunny paradise. Sure, I know, it's been done so many times, but as a wise man one said, it's all about the presentation! And boy, does this series ever deliver! Whilst reading, I actually started to consider the numerous foes Ben 10 faces as something serious- a feat Alien Force couldn't impress on me (which one was of the reasons I dropped the series near the end of the first season).

7) The Lie I've Lived by jbern - I'm a Harry/Fleur fan and I don't know why, but anyone that reads this will be convinced that Harry/Fleur is the true canon Harry Potter pairing... oh wait, that's not Harry Potter! jbern's piece uses one unusual concept (in the sense that I've never seen it done before he posted his work), and re-tells the Triwizard Cup brilliantly, complete with heated rivalries and humorous moments paralleled by moments just as sweet.

8) Not A Fairy Tale by magnetosdaughter - Anybody reads Marvel comics? Anybody a fan of Carol Danvers and Peter Parker? Anybody a fan of Carol Danvers and Peter Parker together? Well, this oneshot is just for you! magnetosdaughter captures how the former Warbird's coupling with our friendly neighborhood Spiderman could work, and delivers it in the sweetest Valentine's package I have seen in a while. Really, this is why I believe Carol Danvers is the perfect partner for Peter Parker!

9) Let's Get These Teen Hearts Beating Faster, Faster by dragon agility. My Favorite Gundam series has to be SEED, followed by either Wing or 00, and then X. I remember when I first watched the first episode of SEED while I was visiting my godmother's house in America in the summer '04; I was laughing my head off at the blatant boy-meets-girl between Kira and Cagalli, determined to hate that 'inevitable' coupling. Funny how things turn out, eh? When I finally got my hands on the series a year later, spending my allowances on VCDs with only 2 episodes/CD, I began to love Kira and Cagalli's growing relationship. They were sweet, but not at all naive, and were the perfect foils and cushions for each other. And when the two were finally forced to part ways when Kira was moving on with the Archangel while Cagalli stayed behind in Orb, her "Mata aeru yo ne?" sealed the deal for me; I couldn't wait until they reunited, which really turned out to be a very sweet affair with Cagalli hunting Kira down. Cue more romantic flags between the two- this is it!- and then...Sunrise decided to troll the fans and show that one picture, and suddenly all their romance is forgotten. Twats you are, Sunrise. So anyways, dragon agility's one-shot is how I always imagined Kira and Cagalli would end up together post-series, whether it be GS or GSD. Their twincest angst, I always believed, would be severely diluted because of their war experiences, and would mostly be Cagalli stubbornly saying 'no' even though she really wants to say 'yes, and Kira would patiently wait for Cagalli to come through. It wouldn't at all be serenity and sunshine, though; when you have a vindictive Cagalli with something to prove and an equally headstrong Kira with a backbone, you know that you'll be in for one adrenaline-pumping ride! Kira/Cagalli fans; if you haven't read this one yet, you better do! Ladies and gents, let's get your hearts beating faster, faster!

10) 'Of Things Implied' and 'Cover' by raiko.EXE. I find it bittersweet that there are so few Leon(Squall)/Tifa pieces; the amount makes it easy to find amazing works but once those are read, you'd be left craving for more! Set in the Kingdom Hearts fandom, these two one-shots- much like Rhino7's stories- portrays the 'fun and endearing' aspect that makes this dynamic pairing work. The former is composed of snippets in the lives of this endearing couple while the latter tosses Leon's possessiveness in a humorous light when Tifa decides 'enough is enough'. If ever Dearly Beloved needed a scene for accompaniment; this is it!

11) Destiny by gabriel blessing. Despite how common crossover between Ranma 1/2 and Sailormoon are, there exists a scarce few of stories revolving around Saotome Ranma and Haruka Ten'ou. Interestingly enough, however, the few that do exist are simply worth the effort searching! Destiny is a heartwarming 'life and times'-esque one-shot told from my favorite Senshi's point of view as she grows up with one particularly dense martial artist.

12) Eternity by YamiPaladinofChaos. This short post-Suikoden III one-shot deals with the lives of the Silver Maiden Chris Lightfellow and the Flame Champion Hugo as they outlive all they've cared about. Eternity is a very touching tale of how living outside the constraints of time has aged these two once-enemies.

Author Recommendations:

Evidently, there are just some authors that continually whelm readers - or me at the very least - with their works, and this section is dedicated to such people. Writers that are listed here tend to focus on a specific fandom, and have contributed a lot of stories to their chosen section, and thus one can spend an entire week browsing through their works; I know I have. Who knows- maybe this is how they've honed their trade? Note: again, there is no particular order these people are listed.

1) Clell65619 - I rediscovered this author when they had just recently finished (as of 5/3/2012) their ten-chaptered awesomeness, "Harry Potter and the Sun Source". As you may have gathered, they're focused on the Harry Potter section, and have written kidney-bursting, gut-busting figurative joke-books the likes of "Triwizard Tales", and timeless romances such as "Harry Potter and the Chance Meeting" and "The Marriage Contracs". Now, if only they'd get around to finishing "Chance Meeting"...

2) nonjon - If it's whacky and adult humor you want, nonjon's where it's at! Another Harry Potter writer, nonjon tends to depict a worldly yet childish Harry Potter, a tried and true man-child living up to his Mardauder's blood, in post-series settings where our protagonist kicks up chaos in his wake. Despite this though, the crude humor never gets old, and you'll eventually find yourself wasting your life reading and re-reading through their collection. You've been warned!

3) EmaniaHilel - If I ever want to read a Robin/Raven story of the Teen Titans, this amazing writer always comes to mind. Em has written a variety of genres, though my favorite has to be where she depicts Robin and Raven as what they truly are in the series- friends. That they eventually turn into something is a welcome bonus. If I had to categorize, I'd say Em's works fall under 'slice of life', though each piece tends to have an heartwarming message. On another note, while it's no secret that my "Scenery Called 'Everyday'" was fashioned from Em's "Sweetest Thing", I not-bloody-meekly recommend "It Only Takes A Moment" for a true taste of Em's flavorful writing.

4) Rhino7 - This wonderful author writes for the Kingdom Hearts fandom, focusing mostly on the lives of the Restoration Commitee- in other words, the Final Fantasy side of the cast. Apart from their diabetes-inducing slice of life Leon/Tifa stories, Rhino7 has brought the Final Fantasy cast to life; whether it be Leon and Cloud's ongoing rivalry, Cid Highwind's 'cool uncle' snarkiness, Aerith's well-meaning machinations ending in spectacular fiascos, or Yuffie's being, well, Yuffie, readers will be in for quite a literary experience, and one that makes up for the severe lack of focus on this collection of nutjobs in the official game.
