The True Demon

The plentiful amount of stomach growling food armora's catch her off guard. The clinging of the glistening forks, and the munching that fills her ears whole.

The voices that were once quiet, almost silent are now on full blast, it was so much of a difference that the castle was almost shaking just from the mere pressure of it.

The other figures sitting by her table, the other Slytherins certainly made less sound than the other Houses, not that it was entirely silent, some spoke and a few kept their lips sealed.

The stares too, they were skipping past her, she caught glimpses of each individual stare with a few glares coupled in.

A few were gobsmacked, a few showed nothing but apathy, and a few introduced their anger.

And she was sure it was anger, over these past few years she's gained a skill at unveiling those who had negative feelings about her.

It was some sort of sense, at first she believed it to be her paranoia worsening, and perhaps it was, maybe the few times it appeared was just an outlier, her luck tip-toeing until it could no longer rise.

No… she should really stop rambling on the what if's, it does her no good to dwell on in a roundabout way.

Her eyes that held a hidden dose of calculation in them circled around the table, they didn't latch onto one person for long, they kept on moving and moving.

A splash of blue, it takes a few seconds for her to pick up upon those eyes that were fixated on her.

A hidden chill snakes up her bones for reasons that she herself didn't know and it just makes her insides warp viciously without a hint of rest in vision.

The stare that was stalking her eventually walked away making a breath of fresh air enter through her chest

Peculiar was a term that spun a web in her mind, it wasn't some new concept either, it was something that was always lurking ever since she learnt to walk… no even before then.

From chatting with snakes all away to pulling heavy objects near her like it was second nature.

Although to be fair a many of those 'strange' happenings were because of the magic she wields.

And even ignoring those occasions where that magic saved her life there's no way in hell she would want it to be taken away.

Her stomach roars with more presence than the last time, glassy eyes stride down on the table littered with foods originating from all around the wide world.

Maybe the food won't be so bad after all.

Green, that was the first thing that caught her eye when they entered the common room.

She hadn't seen such a green before, it almost sparkled yet it wasn't an annoyance, the shade fitted the walls like a glove.

It was supremely smooth too, it was definitely new, her nose could tell that much in an instant.

It also reminded her of something else, two eyes hidden behind a pair of spectacles, quickly dragging those thoughts into the abyss that her mind has become.

The common room was quite large too, it could fit multiple classrooms worth of students with room to spare, it should've been expected though, this was the common room after all.

A yawn that was stretched out with a mixture of boredom and fatigue materialized.

It was a boy, no that wasn't it, he looked to be far older than herself, and with an aura that stunk of grumpiness.

''Listen up you little shits.'' As his bear-like hands were thrown into his deep pockets his lidded eyes were directed at her, not just her, but all of the first years.

''You see this pesky badge on my chest?'' His hands fly from his pockets, and his right one points at a badge living on his chest.

''Y'see, I'm head boy so I have to tell you lot about the shit that you just can't do.'' He sighs out.

Head boy? Wasn't there meant to be a Head Girl too?

She remembers reading something about that… maybe her memory was acting up?

Or maybe the head girl was doing something else entirely?

''I'm just gonna be frank with you firsties, I don't give a fuck what you do, but if I catch you trying to kill each other or something along those lines… I will beat the living shit out of the both of you, fuck the consequences.'' He grunts out like an orc.

His back slumps to a degree that it crafted an image of a hunchback.

''You understand that you little fucks?''

Nothing else was said, but the point he brought about was evident.

The other first-years had varying reactions, a few held a mask that barely hid their desires to run away. Some didn't even try to disguise their fear. A couple didn't even react to it, and just dealt with it as if nothing happened in the first place.

''Good.'' After that comment was made his hands were planted on the back of his head, and another yawn came from him.

''I'm too tired for this shit.'' His voice was no more than a whisper, but she heard it by a hair's breadth.

He started tramping away like an angry rhino, and before she knew it the head boy was no longer in her field of vision.

Why was someone like that head boy? He seemed so… prickly, definitely not what she expected.

A someone in a position they don't deserve? A chuckle sprouts inside of the root of her mind.

Such a thing wasn't new to her, she shouldn't have thought otherwise.

Fool.

As she was about to move from her crude thoughts something heavy barges past her shoulder.

''Watch it, Potter!''

The one who slugged her shoulder stormed past her while wearing a nasty scowl on that mundane face.

And mundane is what it was, painstakingly average in every possible way.

Strange... that almost reminds her of something… but she can't put her finger on what.

Her thin eyebrows nearly slammed into each other at the way the other girl whirled past her.

And what's her problem?

Slapping away the urge to crush her organs until they were nothing more than a few specs of dust that needs to be cleaned up.

Fingering her bony wand placed inside of her pockets, it felt ruff yet welcoming at the same time.

The power too, it came from her wand, just as it came from her soul, synchronising together into something else entirely.

The sensations it gifted her made it feel like the world was at her very fingertips, crushing it would be far too easy.

In the centre of her gut, a fizzing feeling erupts, aided by the Magical euphoria she was frozen in.

She could breathe it in. She could feel it slashing against her skin. And that way it sunk into her nostril was welcoming.

It was truly wonderful.

A stretched out hallway with its existence living in a mind-bogglingly large castle.

The green lights shine the entire castle up, munching away at the darkness that most definitely would've been present if not for the brightness.

It wasn't just the lights that were green either, paint was splattered along the tall walls in the exact identical shade.

Footsteps that were more like stomps by the way his legs were shaking. A heart that was throttling about with the power of a big bang.

A monster was lurking behind the locked door. A true demon that was going to gobble him down with its pointy fangs.

His oddly coloured hands swam in between the horns living on a full head of hair.

His arm that was trembling so, so much flicked towards the door with so, so much green on display.

A knock arrived, then another one came, his arm that was trembling like a leaf wanted to stop… but it didn't, one final strike smacked on the door.

''Come in.''

That voice slimed throughout his organs, icing them still, oh, if only they would explode!

And without him performing a single action the only thing between himself and that monster slammed open.

The air that was thrown from that room lingered on his face… the sting of his two wide eyes was one of the many things that kept him awake.

''So, what can I help you with today?'' A voice that was sleek yet polite. And with a pale face that wasn't any less beautiful than any Succubus.

His lips, dry, almost as dry as saltwater which was demanding them to be licked, such a thing was almost impossible by the way his tongue was incredibly stiff.

Her lips tilt upwards, ruby eyes glistening not too different from any known Star.

''Perhaps you have pieces of information for me?'' She asks, it was almost as if she read his mind

''Y-yes.'' He breathes out with a tremor in his voice.

''And what is this information you have brung to me?'' She inquired in that same polite tone she always uses.

Breathing in and out from his chest, it was so, so very icy.

''Y-you see.'' He begins. ''I have received notice from one of the surface dwellers.'' He finishes up in a more steady voice.

She hums, he might've thought it would have been beautiful if that thing wasn't the monster he knew it to be.

His bones rattled

''Go on.'' She prompts him to continue.

A dizzying sense of fear spins in his mind, fingers twitching sporadically.

''The wand with the core of the Red Dragon Emperor has been selected.'' He reveals shakily.

Her eyebrows curve curiously.

''Truly?'' She questions with intrigue straining against her voice.

''Indeed.'' His head shakes. ''The Wand Maker even confirmed it himself.''

His eyes weren't open any longer, but his quivering eyelashes made everything so obvious.

''I see.'' She murmurs. ''And who now has that wand in particular?''

His pointed set of teeth snapped down by his cheek, it was a miracle that the bitter taste of blood wasn't present.

His eyes that were even more inhumane than he remembered scrunched open.

And that smile she was wielding, it was disarming. So disarming. So honest. So human.

A human? What an odd thing to think up, considering what he has become, humanity would only view him as some evil abomination.

One that needed to be burnt on the stake.

His wobbly eyes that felt like they would crack when they fluttered open.

''Lyra Potter.''
