It was early morning as Bob woke up first. Normally Helen wakes up Bob first. He knew something was off. Helen turned to her sight as she had a red nose and she looked a little pale. Bob felt her forehead as she was burning up. Bob gasped as she sneezed. Bob got out of bed as he got the kids up and ready for school. After he got the kids out of the house and to school he went to the phone and called the NSA.
"Hello?" Mr. Dicker said.
"Hey Dick. Listen I can't come into the NSA today."
"Why is that Bob?"
"Helen is sick and I have to take care of her."
"Do you want me to get Doctor Peters?"
"No. All I need to do is take care of her and just be by her side."
"You're a good husband Bob."
"Thanks."
"Tell Helen I said to feel better."
"I will. See you after Helen's feeling better."
"See you then." Mr. Dicker hung as Bob went back into the room.
Helen was asleep. Bob sighed as he stroked her hair and kissed her on the cheek
She woke up as she said "Bob? What time is it?" As she sniffled.
"It doesn't matter. I'm here to take care of you."
"Achoo!"
"Bless you."
"Thanks. But don't you have work at the NSA?"
"I called Mr. Dicker and he said I can take the day off and take care of you."
"What? No-no-no. Call him and say you changed your mind. Let Honey and Lucius take care of me."
"No Helen. The only place I need to be is by your side." And kissed her on the nose.
Helen smiled and said "Thanks, Bob. I love you. *cough cough*"
"I love you too." Helen closed her eyes as she got some more rest. Bob kissed her on the forehead as he left her to rest.
Helen woke up as Bob came in.
"Hey, honey. *cough cough*" Helen said.
"Hey, Helen. How are you feeling?"
"Not well. Achoo!"
"Aw baby, I'm so sorry you don't feel good. I'm here to take care of you no matter what." Bob said and kissed her on the cheek.
"Thanks, Bob. *cough cough*"
"You're welcome. Do you need anything?"
"Mm. Maybe some coconut water."
"Okay." Bob said as Helen said "Wait! I want some tissues. My nose feels stuffy. Achoo!"
"Okay, I will." Bob was about to leave as she said "Wait! I need another pillow. My neck hurts."
"Got it!" Bob said as Helen said, "Wait!"
"Yes, honey?" Bob said, gritting his teeth.
"Come here." Bob came up to her as she hugged him. "Thanks for taking care of me."
Bob smiled, kissed her on the forehead, and said "Just doing all I can for the woman I married." He tucked her in as he said "Now let me get your stuff." He left the room as he got the stuff Helen needed. He came back with the coconut water, a tissue box, and a pillow. He gave her the coconut water as she started to drink it, he put the tissue box on the table side and put the pillow on her head as he fluffed it. Oh and he kissed her on the forehead.
"Bob? Can I ask you a-Achoo! A question?"
"Yeah, honey?"
"You know if you're-*cough cough* taking care of me you could get sick too?"
"I know."
"Then why are you making yourself more contagious to me by taking care of me?"
"Because you need someone to take care of you and no one else is here but me. And besides who loves you more than anyone else?"
"You."
"And who did you marry?"
"You."
"And who is willing to do anything and everything that he can to make his wife feel better, special, and loved?"
"You Bob! Achoo!" Helen yelled out and sniffled.
"Thank you!" Bob yelled out.
"You're welcome! I love you!"
"I love you too Helen!"
"Why are we yelling? *cough cough*"
"I don't know!"
"We should stop before we-Achoo! Lose our voices!"
"Yes, we really should!"
Helen and Bob stopped yelling as they smiled at each other.
"Achoo!"
"Ghesundtit." Bob said as he gave her a tissue.
"Thanks, Bob." Helen said with a stuffy nose as she blew her nose."
Bob felt her forehead as he put the thermometer in her mouth. They waited a minute as he took it out.
"Still a fever. You have to-."
"Rest. I know." Achoo!"
"Now you're getting the hang of it."
"Yes, I *cough cough* am." Bob chuckled as the doorbell rang.
"Who could that be?" Helen said.
"I don't know. But lie down and I'll see who it is. I'll be right back." Bob said and kissed her on the cheek and left the room to open the door.
"My super husband." Helen said and chuckled.
"Good morning. Care package for Helen?" The mailman said.
"Yep. Thank you. Have a good day." Bob said and took the care package.
"You too." The mailman said as Bob closed the door as he went upstairs.
"So who was it, honey?"
"A care package for you!" Bob said as he brought out a basket full of goodies.
"Bob! I…" He brought the basket to her as she read the note "To Helen. I feel bad that you're sick. So I made you a care package only for you. I hope you feel better. Love Bob."
Helen looked up at Bob as she hugged him.
"Thank you so much, Bob. Achoo!"
"You're welcome." Bob said and kissed her on the head.
"A-a…" Helen said as she sighed. "A-a-a…" Bob flinched a little as she sighed.
"Oh. For a minute I thought you were gonna…" Bob said as he got interrupted by Helen.
"Achoo!" Helen said as she sniffled and Bob tucked her in.
"There you go. Now rest."
"Thanks, Bob."
"No need to thank me." Bob said and kissed her on the nose.
"I need a-."
"Tissue?" Bob brought a tissue to her and smiled.
"How did you know?"
"I know you, Helen. And I love you."
"I-Achoo! Love you too Bob." Helen sniffled and blew her nose and coughed.
"How are you feeling?"
"Still not well. I don't think I'll ever get better."
"That's not true. You'll get well soon. It may take a while to get better but in the end, it'll be worth it."
Helen sniffed and said, "You promise?"
Bob put his hand on Helen's face and said "I promise."
Helen held onto Bob's arm and said "Thanks, Honey."
"You're welcome. Do you need anything?"
"Not at the moment."
"Okay. But if you need anything let me know."
"Actually I need something."
"What?"
"I need you."
"Me?"
"Mhm."
"What do you mean?"
"You said all you need to be is by side. So I want you by my side because you make me feel better. Sick or not you make my day better."
"Aww. Thanks, Helen."
"You're welcome. I-Achoo! Love you."
"I Achoo love you too."
Helen lifted her eyebrow and they both laughed until Helen started coughing.
"Oh, dear. I should get you some medicine. I'll be right back." Bob said as he left the room and came back with some medicine. When he returned Helen was gone.
"Helen? Where did you go?" Bob looked around the room for her but she wasn't there.
"Helen isn't here. She is-Achoo! Fighting crime. Totally not hiding to take disgusting medicine. *cough cough*"
Bob smiled as he took the blanket off Helen and said "Aha! I found you!" And carried Helen in his arms.
"You found me!" Helen kissed Bob on the lips as Bob put her down into bed and tucked her in.
"Now time to take the medicine."
"No."
"Helen."
"Bob. Achoo!"
"Come on. Please?"
"Bob I love you but I'm not taking the medicine. It's nasty."
"I understand. But if you don't take the villains will get lose and without you being there the city could be in great danger."
"That can't happen!"
"Yep. So take the medicine and get some rest to save the day."
"Oh okay." Bob gave Helen the medicine as she made a grossed-out face.
"Ugh. That will never get any better."
"I know. But you took it."
"Yes, I did." Helen said as she yawned.
Bob stroked her hair and said, "Now I think you should get some more rest."
"Don't worry Bob. I'm…perfectly…fine." Helen closed her eyes and went to sleep. Bob kissed her on the cheek and left her to rest.
Helen woke up from her nap as the door began to open.
Bob came in and said "Hey Honey. Just checking on you. How are you doing?"
"I'm good. The nap helped me a lot." Helen said as her stomach started to growl. "But I'm hungry. And it's evening already."
"Well lucky for you. I got that handled." Bob said as he walked in with a tray. "I made you some chicken soup, some peppermint tea, and a box of tissues."
Helen sniffed and said "Thanks, Bob." Bob got out a spoon as he started to feed Helen the soup. After the soup, Bob ran a bath for Helen and helped her with her bath.
"Thanks, Bob." Helen said and sneezed.
"You're welcome, Helen. And bless you."
"Thanks." After the bath, Bob gave Helen a massage.
"This feels nice. Even though I'm sick.*cough cough*" Helen said and sighed.
"You're welcome." Bob said as he kept on giving Helen her massage.
Meanwhile when the massage was over Helen and Bob were in their pajamas in bed. Bob held Helen close into his arms as she coughed.
"How are you feeling now sweetie?"
"Still not feeling well. But better because I have you by my side."
"Oh. That means a lot, honey." Bob said and gave her an Eskimo kiss.
It was nighttime as Helen started to sneeze and cough in her sleep. Bob got up and gave her some medicine.
"Honey?" Bob said.
"Honey." Helen said with a stuffy nose as Bob brought some nighttime cold medicine. She drank the medicine as she went to sleep again. Bob held Helen in his arms as they both fell asleep. Throughout the whole week that Helen was sick, Bob took care of her and in no time at all, she was better!
When Helen felt better she went to the bathroom which Bob was in already and kissed him on the cheek.
"Hey, honey! You're feeling better!"
"Yep. Looks like you were right. Getting some rest and taking it easy was the way to go."
"Yep. And I'm glad you're back to your normal-Achoo!" Bob said.
"Are you feeling okay?"
"Yep. I feel perfectly-a-Achoo!" Helen felt his forehead and gasped.
"Bob you've got a fever! You must have caught my cold."
"Maybe. *cough cough*"
"Come on let's get back to bed." Helen took Bob into bed as she helped him put on his pajamas and tucked him in."
"There we go. How do you feel now?"
"Still not well. But there's one thing I need right now."
"Anything. What is it?"
"I want you to be by my side. Please?"
Helen smiled, kissed him on the cheek, and said "Of course honey."
