Night:

SHIELD Analytical Room

Rick stands in the middle of a dark room, facing several large monitors as he is in a conference with the world security council, not seeing their faces, just their figures.

World Security Councilman #1 tells him, "This is out of line, Director. You're dealing with forces you can't control."

Rick stands respectively with his hands behind his back, questions them, "You ever been in a war, Councilman? In a firefight? Did you feel an over abundance of control?"

World Security Councilman #1 asks, "You're saying that this Mewni is declaring war on our planet?"

Rick corrects him, "Not Mewni. Janna."

World Security Councilman #2 claims, "She can't be working alone. What about the other one? Her sister."

Rick answers, "Our intelligence says, Star is not a hostile but she's worlds away. We can't depend on her to help either. It's up to us."

World Security Councilman #1 tells him, "Which is why you should be focusing on phase 2. It was designed for exactly this-."

Rick interrupts him, "Phase 2 isn't ready. Our enemy is. We need a response team."

World Security Councilman #1 tells him, "The Avengers Initiative was shut down."

Rick denies him, "This isn't about The Avengers."

World Security Councilman #3 tells him, "We've seen the list."

World Security Councilman #1 continues to deny him, "You're running the world's greatest covert security network and you're gonna leave the fate of the human race to a handful of freaks."

Rick looks at him blankly for a second before continuing his own plea, "I'm not leaving anything to anyone. We need a response team. These people may be isolated, unbalanced even, but I believe with the right push they can be exactly what we need."

World Security Councilman #2 questions him, "You believe?"

World Security Councilman #1 tells him emotionlessly, "War isn't won by sentiment, Director."

Rick corrects him, "No, it's won by soldiers."

Minutes Later: Private Room

Rick's done talking to the council and is now in another private room alone, sighs and takes out his phone and calls someone, putting the phone to his ear.

Inside: Unknown Building

Work Room

Wendy Corduroy is in her workshop that she shares with Dipper, working on an Iron Man suit with the plans on a hologram beside her, JARVIS says to her, "Everything is stabilized, Miss."

Wendy smiles, satisfied, "Thank you, Jarvis." Before he could respond, her private phone rings on the table by the hologram plans. Wendy puts down her tool and walks over to the table, shuts off the hologram and grabs her phone, seeing 'Rick Sanchez' on the screen, she answers it and puts the phone up to her ear, "What can I do for you today, Rick?"

Rick's voice comes through the phone, "Great to know you have manners when answering the phone Miss. Corduroy." Rick says sarcastically.

Wendy smirks as she responds, "Well, I could say that Stanford Pines taught me well but he didn't so…" She refers to the fact that Stanford died while she was still a teenager.

Private Room

Rick sighs quietly, then looks forward and says straight to the point, "I need you to come in, I'll brief you on the situation at hand, when you're on a plane to New York."

Wendy's Work Room

Wendy makes a face and looks out the window of New York City and says a little innocently, "Well Director, considering I am already in New York, why don't you just brief me now."

Rick's voice comes through the phone, laced in confusion, "Still? I thought you said you were headed home?"

Wendy, still playing off innocently, "I did. Dipper and I have a place in New York."

Private Room

Rick nods with a blank expression, not missing a beat, "You mean that new Pines Building, you two have."

Wendy's Work Room

Wendy presses her lips together and closes her eyes for a second in defeat manner, "Yes that one." Then she stands straight, says the next sentence in amusement, "I can never get you. Can I?" She talks about how she can never tell a joke or get away with anything with Rick.

Private Room

Rick answers, "No Miss. Corduroy you can not." He has a faint smile of amusement on his face with her humor, but then turns serious, "I'll send you the briefing to your phone and then I need you to pick something up for me."

Wendy's voice comes through the phone, asking very curiously, "What?

Rick, again not holding back, answers, "The thing you didn't leave New York for."

Wendy's Work Room

Wendy's eyes widen a bit in realization, knowing what he's talking about…or more like who he's talking about.

Night:

Brooklyn Gym

Steven Universe aka Captain Universe is in an empty gym, punching a punching bag steadily, as he's punching, he remembers his life before he ended up getting frozen in the ocean.

(FLASHBACK [CU:TFA - CHAPTER 8]) Steven/Captain Universe is running through the forest, dodging bombs, gunfire and the Tesseract's energy firearms.

[CU:TFA - CHAPTER 9] Steven/Captain Universe hits two HYDRA soldiers with his shield.

(Steven's voice [CU:TFA - CHAPTER 11] Him forcing the plane down to the ice), "There's not enough time! I gotta put her in the water!"

(Present/Now) Steven's rage keeps building as he punches the bag, punching it harder.

(FLASHBACK [CU:TFA - CHAPTER 11]) Spinel picks up the Tesseract Cube with her gloved hand.

(Present/Now) Steven closes his eyes, punches the bag harder than before.

(FLASHBACK [CU:TFA - CHAPTER 11]) Steven/Captain Universe places a compass that belonged to his girlfriend with an image of one of his best friends, Sadie Miller on the control panel of the plane. Sadie's voice softly tells him, "You won't be alone."

[CU:TFA - CHAPTER 7] Steven/Captain Universe just rescued the soldiers that were captured by HYDRA along with his best friend Lars Barriga and the love of his life Connie Maheswaran. Connie looks at Steven lovingly. The soldiers behind them cheering for his victory of rescuing them as the couple kiss passionately in each other's arms.

(Present/Now) Steven opens his eyes and is still punching the bag as the last memory kicks in. At this point, he doesn't think he can physically stop.

(FLASHBACK [Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S, Antarctica] Inside A Plane) A half frozen Steven Universe is lying down on a medical table. Both Tambry/Crystal Dove and Wendy stand beside him, with Wendy having a tablet in her hands with Tambry beside her, also looking at the tablet that's showing them his vitals, while SHIELD scientists thaws the ice around him.

Tambry/Crystal Dove says, shocked, "Oh my god."

Wendy says, breathlessly happily, "He is still alive!"

(Present/Now) Out of anger, Steven punches one last time really hard and knocks the punching bag off it's chain across the room. He's sweating, breathing heavily, he then simply turns around to the six punching bags that are lined up on the floor and walks over and picks up another with one hand, hooks it back on and starts punching it again.

At the entrance of the gym, Wendy stands there for a second, a little stunned, she still couldn't believe that he is standing there in front of her, she shakes out of it and grabs his attention as she walks in.

Wendy asks him, "Trouble sleeping?" She walks slowly and casually towards him as she holds a folder in her hands.

Steven glances at her, then continues to punch the bag, "I slept for seventy years, ma'am. I think I've had my fill." He punches one last time and stands there for a moment.

Wendy advises, "Then you should be out, celebrating, seeing the world." She continues to walk over to him.

Steven turns and looks at her, breathing heavily, then turns around and starts to unwrap the rags on his hands as he walks over to his bag that is on a bench beside a boxing ring, "I went under, the world was at war, I woke up, they say we won. They didn't say what we lost."

Wendy follows him, "We've made some mistakes along the way. Some very recently." She stands a few feet from him.

Steven glances at the file in her hands and continues to unwrap the rags on his other hand, "Rick send you here with a mission, ma'am?"

Wendy answers politely, "I am. And it's Wendy."

Steven asks her, "Trying to get me back in the world?" He says, knowing she's been helping him.

Wendy answers him, "Trying to save it." She opens the file about the Tesseract and gives it to Steven to look at.

Steven takes the file from her, looking at it, "Hydra's secret weapon." He sits down on the bench.

Wendy explains, "My friend, Stanford Pines fished that out of the ocean when he was looking for you." He looks at her, "He thought what we think, the Tesseract could be the key to unlimited sustainable energy." Steven continues to look at the file, "Rick thinks, that's something the world sorely needs."

Steven asks her as he closes the file and hands it back to her, "Who took it from you?"

Wendy takes the file back from him, while answering him, "She's called Janna. She's..not from around here. There's a lot we'll have to bring you up to speed on if you're in. The world has gotten even stranger than you already know."

Steven says as he stands up, turns his back to her to gather his stuff, "At this point, I doubt anything would surprise me."

Wendy looks at him amused and bets him, "Ten bucks says you're wrong." Steven walks over to the line of punching bags on the floor and picks one up like it's nothing and puts it over his shoulder, "There's a debriefing package waiting for you back at your apartment." Steven grabs his bag with his free hand and starts to walk away. Wendy frowns a little at him as he's walking away and asks him, "Is there anything you can tell us about the Tesseract that we ought to know now?"

Steven simply tells her as he exits the gym, "You should have left it in the ocean." Wendy looks after him and with the file still in her hands, she puts her hands on her hips and looks around the gym, sighing in disappointment.
