Joey Wheeler and his sister Serenity stood a few feet from each other on top of KaibaCorp's new dueling platform. "You sure you're ready for this Serenity?" Joey asked. "I'm sure, Joey. I wanna show you how good I've gotten since my duel with Nesbit." Serenity said. "Alright then. But don't think I won't hold back." Joey warned. "I wouldn't want you to." Serenity said.
Joey and Serenity activated their Duel Disks and drew their 5 cards. "Ready?" Joey asked. "Mm-hm." Serenity nodded. "Then get ready, sis." Joey said. "It's time to duel!" They both shouted.
Joey's Lifepoints: 4000

"Seeing as you wanted this duel, I'll let you go first, Serenity." Joey offered. "Thank you, Joey." Serenity said.
Turn 1: Serenity
Serenity drew her 6th card. Lady Panther. Then she looked at the other 5 cards in her hand. Magic Cylinder, Goddess with the Third Eye, Warrior Lady of the Wasteland, Elf's Light and Wingweaver. "Okay, Joey. First, I'll place a card face-down, then I summon Lady Panther in Defense Mode." Serenity said, putting a card in her Spell/Trap slot and Lady Panther sideways on her Duel Disk. The face-down appeared on the field, then Lady Panther's card appeared in front. Lady Panther then appeared, kneeling on the card with her shield up. Atk: 1400 Def: 1300. "That'll do for now." Serenity said, ending her turn.
Turn 1: Joey
"Alright, Serenity. Watch this!" Joey said, drawing his 6th card and looking through his selection. He had Panther Warrior, Rocket Warrior, Scapegoat, Magical Arm Shield, Giant Trunade and Little-Winguard. "Okay. First I play 2 cards face-down." Joey said, putting 2 of his cards in the Spell/Trap slots. "Then I summon Rocket Warrior in attack mode." Joey put Rocket Warrior straight on his Duel Disk. The face-downs appeared, then Rocket Warrior appeared, ready for battle. Atk: 1500 Def: 1300.
"Now, Rocket Warrior, attack Lady Panther!" Joey called. Rocket Warrior morphed into his invincible rocket form and blasted off, aiming for Lady Panther. "Sorry, big brother. But I activate my Trap card, Magic Cylinder!" Serenity said, revealing her Magic Cylinder. 2 cylinders appeared in front of Lady Panther. "This will allow me to redirect your Rocket Warrior's attack back at you." Rocket Warrior flew into the one cylinder and out the other, heading for Joey. "Sorry, Serenity, but I had a feeling you set a Trap, which is why I set my own Trap. Magic Arm Shield!" Joey said, activating his Magical Arm Shield. The card released a plunger grip and grabbed Lady Panther. "It snags one of your Monsters and blocks the attack. And your Lady Panther is the only Monster up for grabs."
Lady Panther was pulled by the plunger grip in front of Joey. Rocket Warrior flew into Lady Panther, destroying her. Serenity gasped as her Lifepoints dropped.
Serenity's Lifepoints: 4000-3900
"And with that, I end my turn." Joey said as Rocket Warrior flew back down. "Whoa. That totally caught me by surprise." Serenity said. "Ah, don't feel too bad, sis. You're only down by 100 points. You still got a chance." Joey assured. "Yeah. I guess I do. Okay then. Watch out, Joey, cause here I come!" Serenity said with confidence.
Turn 2: Serenity
Serenity drew a card. "Okay, Joey. First I summon Warrior Lady of the Wasteland in Attack Mode." She said, putting Warrior Lady of the Wasteland straight on her Duel Disk. The lady warrior appeared on the field. Atk: 1100 Def: 1200. 'Huh? Why would she play that card in attack mode? Warrior Lady's attack power is lower than my Rocket Warrior's.' Joey thought. "And since her attack power is lower than your Rocket Warrior's, I'll just end my turn with a card face-down." Serenity said, putting a card face-down, ending her turn.
Turn 2: Joey
'I don't know what Serenity's planning, but I gotta take action.' Joey thought as he drew his next card. "First I summon Little-Winguard in attack mode." He said, placing his Little-Winguard on his Duel Disk. The hooded angel appeared next to Rocket Warrior. Atk: 1400 Def: 1800. "And now I'll attack your Warrior Lady with Rocket Warrior! Rocket Strike!" Rocket Warrior morphed into invincible rocket-mode and jetted into Warrior Lady of the Wasteland, destroying her. Serenity covered her face as a gust of wind from the attack blew in her face.
Serenity's Lifepoints: 3900-3500
"I had a feeling you'd do that." Serenity said. Joey was confused. "You see, my Warrior Lady has a special ability. When she's destroyed in battle and sent to the graveyard, I can pull out another Earth attribute Warrior type monster with an Atk power of 1500 or less and summon it to the field." Serenity explained. She took out her deck and looked through her selection, picking out a card. "And I'll pick this one. Amazoness Sage!" An Amazoness carrying a scepter appeared on the field. Atk: 1400 Def: 700.
'Drat! She played me! If I attack with Little-Winguard, they'll destroy each other!' Joey thought, seeing no way around this mess. "Guess I'll just end my turn then." He said in defeat.
Turn 3: Serenity
"Okay, Joey. Here we go." Serenity said, drawing her next card. She looked at it, seeing that she drew Graceful Charity. "First I'll play Graceful Charity. With it, I can draw 3 more cards, but I have to discard 2." She explained, drawing 3 more cards. She looked and saw that she drew Amazon of the Seas, Waboku, and Red Archery Girl. She put the 3 in her hand and discarded Wingweaver and Elf's Light. "Next I'll put a card face-down and summon Red Archery Girl in Defense Mode." She said. The face-down appeared and Red Archery Girl appeared in her clam. Atk: 1400 Def: 1500. "And with that, I end my turn."
Turn 3: Joey
"Okay. My draw." Joey said, drawing his next card. He looked and sees that it's the Fiend Megacyber. "Okay, sis. First I'll sacrifice Little-Winguard so I can summon Fiend Megacyber." He said, taking Winguard's card off his Duel Disk and replacing it with Megacyber's. A big light vortex surrounded Little-Winguard and in his place stood the Fiend Megacyber. Atk: 2200 Def: 1200.
"And now, Megacyber, attack Amazoness Sage!" Joey commanded. Megacyber charged in and prepared to strike Amazoness Sage. "Sorry to be a spoilsport, Joey. But I activate the trap card, Waboku!" Serenity said, activating her face-down, Waboku. "Oh man! I know what happens next." Joey said, remembering what Waboku does. "My Megacyber's attack will be blocked and negated." He was right. Megacyber's attack was blocked by a trio of mystic priests. Megacyber stopped in his tracks and hopped back to his original spot. "Well then, guess I'll end my turn then." Joey said.
Turn 4: Serenity
Serenity drew her next card. "This should do. I play Pot of Greed. It allows me to draw 2 more cards." She said, activating Pot of Greed and drawing 2 more cards. She saw she drew 4-Starred Ladybug of Doom and A-Assault Core. "Now I summon 4-Starred Ladybug of Doom." The little ladybug appeared in between Amazoness Sage and Red Archery Girl. Atk: 800 Def: 1200.
"Why'd you summon a ladybug?" Joey asked in confusion. "You'll see. Ladybug, attack Joey's Rocket Warrior!" Serenity called. The ladybug sped towards Rocket Warrior. "You gotta be crazy! My Rocket Warrior's way stronger than your little bug!" Joey said. Rocket Warrior slashed the poor little ladybug in half, destroying it.
Serenity's Lifepoints: 3500-2800
Serenity wasn't fazed. "Now I activate my ladybug's ability." She revealed. Joey was shocked to hear the word ability. Just then, Rocket Warrior got covered in stars. And then, he was destroyed. "Ladybug destroys all 4-star monsters on your side of the field." Serenity explained. Joey was impressed with how his sister was dueling, despite the shortage of Lifepoints.
"And to finish my turn, I switch Amazoness Sage to Defense Mode." Serenity said. Amazoness Sage took a knee and crossed her arms, switching to Defense Mode.
Turn 4: Joey
Joey drew his next card, Skull Dice. "Now, Fiend Megacyber, attack Amazoness Sage!" He called. Fiend Megacyber once again zoomed towards Amazoness Sage and punched her, destroying her. "Then I'll put one card face-down and end my turn." Joey said, putting a card face-down.
Turn 5: Serenity
"Okay. I draw." Serenity said, drawing her next card. "Now I play Card of Sanctity." She said, activating the spell card she drew. "It allows us each to draw until we're holding 6 cards." Both of them drew until they were each holding 6 cards. "Now I summon Goddess with the Third Eye in attack mode!" The Goddess with the Third Eye appeared on the field. Atk: 1200 Def: 1000.
'Wait. I see what Serenity's doing. It's the same move she used on Nesbitt.' Joey thought. "Now I play Goddess' ability. I can substitute her for a fusion material monster, providing I have the proper one ready. And I do." Serenity said. "Now I substitute my Goddess with Darklord Mary!" The Goddess transformed into the raven black fiend woman. "And now I play Polymerization, fusing Darklord Mary with the Forgiving Maiden in my hand to create St. Joan!" Forgiving Maiden appeared beside Mary and they both clapped their hands, transforming into pure energy. In their place stood the beautiful lady knight, St. Joan. Atk: 2800 Def: 2000.
"Nice move, sis! You busted out your ace monster! I'm so proud!" Joey said, about to cry. "Don't start crying yet, Joey. Because Joan's about to cut your Megacyber down to size." Serenity said as Joan drew her sword. "Now, attack Fiend Megacyber!" Joan leapt forth, preparing to slash at Megacyber. "Not so fast, sis! Activate Skull Dice!" Joey called, activating his trap card. A little witch gremlin carrying a big red dice appeared. "Uh-oh! Skull Dice will reduce my monster's Atk points depending on the number roll!" Serenity exclaimed. "Got that right." Joey said. The gremlin dropped the dice, rolling it. Joey and Serenity watched with anticipation. Finally, the dice landed on a number. Unfortunately, it landed on a 1. "Aw man! 1 doesn't do nothing! Joan's Atk points stay the same!" Joey complained. Serenity sighed with relief, having lucked out from that. Joan continued her attack, slicing Megacyber in half and destroying him.
Joey's Lifepoints: 4000-3400
"Gotta admit, Joey. I almost thought you had me with that dice roll for a second." Serenity said as Joan leapt back to her spot. "Yeah, I thought so too. Guess you lucked out. But luck's not gonna be enough to beat me, sis." Joey said. "Then bring it on." Serenity dared.
Turn 5: Joey
Joey drew his next card. 'Fortress Whale's Oath. This is the card Mako Tsunami used when I dueled him in Battle City.' Joey thought. Then he looked at the cards his hand. 'Yeah, this combo could work.' Serenity looked on, wondering what her brother was planning. "Alright Serenity, you got your ace out. Time for me to bring out one of mine." Joey said. "First I play Fortress Whale's Oath." The ritual spell appeared on the field. "A ritual spell? I've heard of those, but I've never seen one before." Serenity said. "Well then, you're in luck, sis. Cause you're about to see what this one can do." Joey said. "First I need to sacrifice 1 or 2 monsters whose levels equal up to 7. So, I'll send my level 4 Armored Lizard and my level 3 Rock Ogre Grotto to the Graveyard so I can summon a wickedly strong creature." Armored Lizard and Rock Ogre appeared for a brief moment before going to the Graveyard. "I summon Fortress Whale!" A huge wave appeared on the field, nearly splashing Serenity. Then, a huge whale with a whole armory on it's back emerged from the water, calling out at Serenity. Atk: 2350 Def: 2150.
"Isn't that whale one of the cards you won from Mako Tsunami?" Serenity asked, staring in awe at the big whale. "Yep. But I gotta admit, it took me a while to find the ritual spell I needed to play him." Joey said. "Well, I'll admit that it's a pretty cool card, but my St. Joan is still stronger." Serenity said. "Then I'll just have to change that with this card." Joey said, holding up a certain spell card. Serenity gasped, knowing what Joey was about to do. "I play Shield and Sword, swapping the Atk and Def points of both our monsters." Both Joan's and Fortress Whale's Atk points swapped with their Def points, making Fortress Whale the stronger monster.
"Now, Fortress Whale, obliterate St. Joan! Fortress Assault!" Joey declared. Fortress Whale took aim at Joan with the cannons on it's back and fired, destroying the brave lady knight. Serenity braced against the breeze from the attack as her lifepoints dropped.
Serenity's Lifepoints: 2800-2650
'Man. Joey never kids around when it comes to dueling. I mean, he just took out my best card. But then again, I still got some surprises of my own.' Serenity thought.
Turn 6: Serenity
Serenity drew her next card. Monster Reborn. Then she looked at her hand. Aside from Amazon of the Seas and A-Assault Core, since playing Card of Sanctity, she managed to draw a second Waboku and a second machine monster. B-Buster Drake. 'Buster Drake is the second piece for my other ace monster. But without the final monster, I can't summon him.' Serenity thought. Until she realized. 'Wait! Their special abilities!'
"I'll place 2 cards face-down." She put 2 cards in the Spell/Trap slots. "And then I summon a monster in defense mode." She then put a card face-down on her Duel Disk. The card then appeared beside Red Archery Girl. "That ends my turn." Serenity said.
Turn 6: Joey
Joey drew his next card, getting a grin on his face. "Okay, Serenity. Time to even the playing field." He said as his face-down card went face-up. "I activate Scapegoat." 4 little colored lambs appeared on the field. "Now I sacrifice 2 of them to summon my other ace monster." The blue and pink lambs went up in flames and were absorbed into the sky, forming a big fiery orb. "You remember the card I won from Rex Raptor in Duelist Kingdom? Well, here he is. The mighty Red-Eyes Black Dragon!" The orb burst apart, revealing the legendary Red-Eyes himself, screeching for battle. Atk: 2400 Def: 2000
Serenity was in awe. She had heard stories about her brother and his mighty Black Dragon, but has never seen Joey play Red-Eyes before. The dragon slowly landed next to Fortress Whale. "But I won't be using him just yet. First I'll have Fortress Whale attack Red Archery Girl!" Fortress Whale took aim with it's cannons and fired at Red Archery Girl. Luckily, she was still in defense mode. "Now Red-Eyes, it's your turn! Inferno Fire Blast!" Red-Eyes fired his best attack at Serenity's last monster, revealing itself before shattering to pieces.
"Sorry, big brother. But you activated my monster's ability." Serenity said. "Ability?" Joey asked. "See, when this monster is sent to the Graveyard, I can add 1 monster of the same type and attribute to my hand." Serenity explained, adding the last piece to her hand. Joey didn't know what Serenity was planning, but just shrugged it off, not wanting any spoilers. "I'll put one card face-down and end my turn." He said, putting a card face-down on the field.
Turn 7: Serenity
Serenity drew her next card. "Yes! Just what I needed." She said. "First, I summon B-Buster Dragon in attack mode!" B-Buster Dragon appeared on the field, ready for battle. Atk: 1500 Def: 1800. "Next I activate Frontline Base." Said spell card appeared behind the big green mechanical dragon. "This card allows me to summon another level 4 or below monster. So, say hello to C-Crush Wyvern!" C-Crush Wyvern appeared beside B-Buster Dragon. Atk: 1200 Def: 2000.
"Wait. B and C? But then, that would mean that…the monster I destroyed last turn was-" Joey started to say. "That's right, Joey. And I play Monster Reborn to bring him back." Serenity said, activating her Monster Reborn. A-Assault Core reappeared beside his comrades. Atk: 1900 Def: 200. "And of course, these 3 have a little trick of their own, Joey. I combine A-Assault Core, B-Buster Dragon and C-Crush Wyvern to create my other ace monster!" The 3 machines combined with each other to create a more powerful monster. "Behold, the ABC-Dragon Buster!" Atk: 3000 Def: 2800.
Joey was shocked to see a very powerful monster like ABC-Dragon Buster in his sister's deck. "Wow! That's some monster you got there, sis. I thought only Kaiba had cards like this." He said. "You like him? Well, you're gonna like his special ability." Serenity said. "By sending 1 card to the Graveyard, I can destroy 1 of your monsters. So, I'll send my Amazon of the Seas to the Graveyard and destroy 1 of your Scapegoats." She placed Amazon of the Seas in her Graveyard slot and the orange lamb. "Now then, you're about to see what 3000 attack points can do. Dragon Buster, destroy his Fortress Whale!" Dragon Buster fired 3 energy beams from its eye and 2 mouths, blasting Fortress Whale into oblivion. Joey was pushed back a bit by the force from the attack.

"Sorry, Joey. As much as I love whales, that one had to go." Serenity said. "No need for apologies, sis. Not only did you reduce my Lifepoints, but you also took out one of my strongest monsters." Joey said. "But now it's my turn."
Turn 7: Joey
Joey drew his next card. "Now I activate Metalmorph and equip it onto my Red-Eyes." He activated his trap card and a sheet of liquidized metal outfitted. "Allowing me to transform Red-Eyes Black Dragon into Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon." Red-Eyes' entire body transformed into a metal armor, making him stronger. Atk: 2800 Def: 2400. "Like his new look? You know, it was that very armor that scored my win against Bandit Keith and a spot in the Duelist Kingdom finals." Joey said. "I admit, Joey, that dragon looks way cooler that how you described him. But he's still 200 attack points weaker than my Dragon Buster." Serenity said. "That's why I'm also outfitting my Red-Eyes with Dragon Nails, which will raise his attack points by 600." Joey said, holding up the card he drew. The metal claws appeared on Red-Eyes' talons, raising his attack points. Atk: 2800-3400.
"Now, go and attack! Flash Flare Blast!" Red-Eyes fired his attack straight towards Dragon Buster. "Not so fast, Joey. I play a trap! My second Waboku!" Serenity said, activating her second Waboku. "Not again!" Joey said in shock. The 3 mystic priests reappeared and stopped blocked Red-Eyes' attack. "Yes. And just like before, your attack is negated." Serenity said. "Alright then. I'll just put this face-down and end my turn." Joey said, putting a card face down.
Turn 8: Serenity
"Okay, Joey." Serenity said, drawing her next card. "First I activate my last face-down card, Fairy of the Spring." As her card activated, a fairing wielding 2 swords appeared. "Fairy of the Spring? What's that do?" Joey asked. "Simple. This magic card allows me to take an equip magic card from my Graveyard and put it back in my hand." Serenity explained. "And I pick this one." She held up her Elf's Light. "Elf's Light. I discarded it when I played Graceful Charity. And now I'm gonna play it." She placed the card in the slot and it appeared on the field. "Now, since my Dragon Buster is a Light attribute monster, I can equip Elf's Light to him and raise his attack points." A little winged-elf appeared and showered Dragon Buster with light dust, raising his attack points. Atk: 3000-3400.
"Well, that was well played. Elf's Light raised his attack points by 400. But now that your Dragon Buster has the same attack points as my Red-Eyes, their just gonna destroy each other." Joey said. "I know. That's why I'm placing this face-down card on the field. For when the time is right." Serenity said, placing a face-down card.
Turn 8: Joey
Joey drew his next card. "First I'll summon Panther Warrior in attack mode." His armored panther appeared on the field, growling for battle. Atk: 2000 Def: 1600. "And now, I'll have my Red-Eyes attack. Flash Flare Blast!" Red-Eyes prepared his attack. "Looks like we're about to lose our toughest monsters again, Serenity." Joey said. "Not quite. Because I played a trap." Serenity said. Joey looked on in shock as her face-down card rose up. "Look familiar, Joey?" Serenity asked. "It- It's Graverobber!" Joey said, recognizing the card as one of his favorite traps. The little sneak cackled as he appeared.
"Surprised, Joey? Did you think you were the only Wheeler to have a Graverobber trap in their deck?" Serenity asked. Graverobber snatched one of the cards in Joey's Graveyard. "And thanks to Graverobber, he snagged your Skull Dice trap." "Oh no! Now you'll be able to reduce my Red-Eyes' attack points by the number you roll!" Joey said. "That's right. Now let's see how the dice roll will favor me." Serenity said.
The little gremlin appeared and rolled the dice. Joey and Serenity started to sweat. Finally, the dice landed on a number. 4. "Yes! Red-Eyes' attack strength will be divided by 4!" Serenity cheered. Joey screamed in agony as his dragon's attack points dropped. Atk: 3400-850. "Now, Dragon Buster! Finish it off!" Dragon Buster fired his 3 energy beams, destroying Red-Eyes. Joey was shocked as his lifepoints dropped to 0.
Joey's Lifepoints: 2550-0
"She beat me. My own little sister beat me." Joey said in shock. Serenity was also shocked. "I won. I beat my big brother." She said. The 2 siblings walked towards each other. They stared at each other for a while. Then they smiled and hugged each other tightly. "Congratulations, sis. You were amazing." Joey said. Serenity cried tears of joy as she clutched tightly against her brother, savoring her victory.
Afterwards, they decided to head back to their apartment. Serenity looked through her deck as they walked. "Say, sis? I gotta ask. Where did you get those ABC monsters there?" Joey asked. "They were mailed to me from Industrial Illusions." Serenity said. "Pegasus? He gave you those cards? Why?" Joey asked. "Well, there was a letter that came with the cards. Apparently, Pegasus sees some potential in me to become a great duelist like you." Serenity said. "And I think you just proved that today. You really have potential to become a great duelist. With the right coaching, you could become as great as me and Yugi and, I can't believe I'm saying this, but even Kaiba." Joey said. "And maybe one day, I'll join you guys in the top 5 greatest duelists." Serenity said. "Whoa! Don't set the bar too high there, sis." Joey said. Serenity chuckled sheepishly. "Now, let's head home. Mai's cooking our favorite stew tonight." Joey said. "Right behind you, big brother." Serenity said as they continued for home.
Beside Serenity, the spirit of the Goddess with the Third Eye watched Serenity with pride. She also knew Serenity would become a great duelist like her brother some day. And she would be there to help guide her through her troubles.
