Chapter 2: The Bad Tool
Revvit gave a big yawn as he woke up to a brand-new day. Just then, he saw Dil etching in the rocks. He went over to greet his new friend. "Morning Dil." He said. "Oh! Morning Revvit." Dil said as she continued etching. "Whatcha doing?" Revvit asked. "Well, I looked over your designs for that weather tower on top of the garage, and I actually had an idea for an improvement for it." Dil said, showing Revvit her finished sketch. Revvit looked it over. The design was the exactly the same, but it had an extra attachment. Metal horns connected to a series of tubes running down into the garage. "Sound detectors?" Revvit asked. "Yes. A special improvement to help pick up certain sounds to alert us. Like if a Scrapadactyl were to come along and try to scrap it, then we can be ready for when it does." Dil explained. "That is an excellent idea, Dil." Revvit said. "But of course, we'll need supplies to build it." Dil said. "And I know exactly where to get them." Revvit said.
Revvit told the Trux about Dil's idea for improving their weather tower. As the Trux went to pick up scrap to use for the horns, Revvit, Dil and the Tools went back to the Reptool Ravine to pick up a few parts. Upon entering, the Tools have received greetings from their good friends, including the Ottos, the Junktools and even a few Tortools. "I gotta say Revvit, through the short time that I've been in this ravine, I never knew that there were so many types of Tools here." Dil said. "Indeed. We've made so many friends throughout our adventures with the Trux, I've almost lost count." Revvit said. "I know I have." Waldo said, being his usual self. From atop a ledge, a crimson red Rotillian Reptool was watching the Tools heading for the supply cabinets.
The Tools looked through the cabinets, looking for the parts they need. "Do we have any 3-quarters?" Revvit asked. "Got 'em right here." Waldo called. "Good. We'll need at least 4-5 of them." Revvit said. "On it." Waldo said, gathering the necessary number of parts. "I got the tubes!" Ace called. "Good. Those will do just fine." Revvit said. "Wow, guys. You really are stocked." Dil said, looking throughout the bolts and bits. "You better believe it. Took us a while just to sort everything." Waldo said.
"Revvit! What do you think you're doing?" A voice called. "Oh no. Not him again." Waldo groaned. The Tools turned to see the crimson red Reptool sitting on a nearby rock. "Hello Pedwick." Revvit said, not happy to see this certain Tool. "I ask again, Revvit. What are you doing going through our supplies? Again?" Pedwick asked. "We just needed a few supplies for an improvement to one of our builds." Revvit explained. "Ugh! Not again. Why must you keep denying the truth, Revvit?!" Pedwick complained. "Pedwick's one of those certain Tools who doesn't approve of the idea of Tools and Trux living together." Waldo whispered. "Geez. What a sore Tool." Dil whispered.
"Sorry, Pedwick, but we have a schedule to keep. So, if you'll excuse us." Revvit said, taking the supplies and leaving with the others. "You'll regret leaving this ravine, Revvit! Mark my words! You'll regret all of it!" Pedwick shouted.
When the Tools got back, the Trux returned with the scrap they needed to build the horns. Waldo used his multi-tool to cut some molds to forge the horns. Ton-Ton tossed the scrap pieces from his bed into the lava forge. Skya scooped out the melted metal and poured it into the molds. When the metal was cooled down, Dozer used his jackhammer to curve it into the shape of a horn. Ace and Xee attached the tubes onto the horns. The Tools then screwed the big horn onto the weather tower. They then hooked the receiving end of the horn inside the garage.
"Boom! Did it." Ty said. "Indeed. With this improvement to the weather tower, we'll be able to detect Scrapadactlys before they try to scrap it." Revvit. "And we have Dil to thank for this idea." Ty said. "Yeah, Dil-dude. This was an awesome idea." Ton-Ton said. "I'll admit. Even I'm impressed." Dozer said. "Aw! Thanks, you guys." Dil said.
Nearby, Pedwick had been watching the Trux and Tools since they were building. He was disgusted by the sight. "This is not right. Tools and Trux should not be working together. I'll make those Tools realize their errors. The hard way if I have to." He grumbled as he walked away.
The next morning, Ty gave a big yawn as he woke up, scratched his treads on a nearby rock to wake it up and made his way to the ore station. "Morning Trux." He said, greeting his friends. "Morning Ty." The Trux said. They got their ore and started to eat. "So, I gotta ask. What's on our agenda today?" Dozer asked. "Don't know yet." Ty said. "Why do you ask, Dozer?" Skya asked. "Don't know. Just feeling a little curious today." Dozer said. "Ty! Come quick!" Revvit called. "Revvit!" Ty said as he and the Trux raced over to the garage.
When they got there, Revvit was almost in a panic. A Click-Clack level of panic. "What's going on, Rev?" Ty asked. "We've been robbed! Someone stole most of our supplies last night!" Revvit said. "Yeah. We're missing our torque nuts, scrap pieces, Shockarachnid wires, even a few bottles of Gluphosaur glue." Waldo said. "We're even missing a few bits." Ace said. "Who'd steal our supplies like that?" Skya asked. "Think the Scrap-dudes are at it again?" Ton-Ton asked. Revvit spun his bit, thinking it was someone else. "HELP!" Someone called from outside. "Was that-" Dozer started to ask. "Garby!" Ty finished.
The Trux and Tools found Garby stuck in the middle of the Flat Irons. "Garby, what's wrong?" Ty asked. "I'm stuck and I can't move! I think a Scraptor got one of my parts!" Garby cried before gassing off. Revvit crawled to Garby's treads and examined the damage. "That's weird." He said. "Talk to me, Revvit." Ty said. "Gabry's missing the bolt Otto gave us for his transaxle housing. But the damage isn't Scraptor related, Scrapadactyl related, or even Scraptool related." Revvit said. "Wait a minute. You mean a Reptool did this?" Dozer asked in surprise. "But why would a Reptool do this?" Ty asked. "To send a message." Revvit said. The Trux looked at the Tool. "Revvit, you don't think it could be-" Waldo started to ask. "Yes. It's Pedwick." Revvit revealed. "Pedwick? Who's Pedwick?" Ty asked. "He's a Rotilian Reptool we know in the Ravine." Ace said. "He's a very strict Tool who disapproves Trux and Tools working together and living together." Waldo said. "Especially Trux and Tools like us." Click-Clack said. "So, it has to be him. He's the one stealing our stuff." Revvit deduced. "We'll stay with Garby. You Tools go find Pedwick and get our stuff back." Ty said. "I think I know just the place to look." Revvit said. The Tools headed off to find Pedwick. "You think they'll be able to find this Pedwick in time?" Dozer asked. Just then, there was a screech. A pack of Scraptors had just shown up, ready to scrap. "Always bad timing with these guys." Ty said as he and the others got ready to fight.
The Tools followed Revvit to where he said Pedwick might be. "What makes you think Pedwick will be here?" Dil asked. "Because I know Pedwick. He uses this certain spot as a relaxation spot. To forget all the stuff of Trux and Tools working together." Revvit explained. "So, if Pedwick's there, so will be our supplies, right?" Click-Clack asked. "Right, Click-Clack." Revvit said.
Revvit was right. Pedwick was right where Revvit said he'd be. And so were their supplies. Pedwick sensed them coming and turned to face them. "So, the Trux lovers have come to take back their precious supplies. Need them to help your precious Trux, Revvit?" He asked tauntingly. "You stole our supplies!" Waldo said. "Now, now, Waldo. It's not nice to point." Pedwick said. "Fess up, Pedwick. Why'd you steal our supplies?" Ace asked. "And the bolt from Garby?" Click-Clack added. "Because this is WRONG! Why doesn't anybody get it?! Trux and Tools don't belong together! If a Trux breaks down, it deserves to stay broken down! Tools are not supposed to be fixing them!" Pedwick said, pretty mentally. The Tools could not believe what they were hearing. Especially Dil. "You're wrong, Pedwick." She said, stepping forth. Pedwick glared at the new Tool. "Trux and Tools synchronize with each other. It's a new way of life where Tools and Trux live in an economy with no need to live in fear by working together. If you don't like any of it, then you're just as bad as D-Structs." Dil said. That made Pedwick so mad, his bits were rumbling with anger. "TRAITORS!" He shouted, leaping for Dil. Dil managed to flip Pedwick onto his back. "Revvit! You Tools get the supplies and help Ty and the others! I'll handle Pedwick!" She said. "By yourself?!" Waldo asked. "I'll be fine! Go! GO!" Dil shouted. "You heard her! Let's move!" Revvit said.
As Dil fought Pedwick and the Tools went for their supplies, the other Tools in the Ravine peaked out from over the edge. They had heard everything Dil had said, and they agreed. "We have to help them!" One Tool said. "But how? We'll be lucky if Pedwick doesn't start attacking us!" Another Tool said. "Maybe, but Ty and his Trux need all the help they can get." Another Tool said. "He's right. Let's move!" The big Tool called. The Reptools all headed to down to help the Tools.
The Tools gathered up all they could carry. "We're not gonna get back to the Trux in time!" Click-Clack panicked. "Yes, you are." A voice said. Revvit turned around to see the other Reptools coming to their aid. "Thank you." Revvit said. "You were there for us, we're here for you." The blue Tool said. "Everybody, grab what you can and follow us to Ty and the others!" Revvit called. Each Reptool grabbed one of the supplies and followed the Tools. Pedwick pushed Dil aside and saw the other Reptools helping Revvit and the Tools. "TRAITORS! ALL OF YOU!" He screamed in anger. "You can't betray someone who doesn't believe in your vision." Dil said. "Then I'll make them believe!" Pedwick said, going after them. "Oh, I have a feeling this is gonna be both bad and fun." Dil said, following.
Meanwhile, Ty and his friends were fighting back the Scraptors. But as soon as they knock back one, at least 3 more join the party. "Protect Garby! We gotta hold them back until the Tools get back!" Ty said, hitting another Scraptor with his wrecking ball. "Not sure how long we can keep it up, Ty!" Dozer called, dozing an incoming Scraptor. Ton-Ton zipped off a ramp and scared a few Scraptors off as he landed on his bed. The other Scraptors took off. "It won't be long until they come back with reinforcements." Ty said. "I don't think even I can handle anymore Scraptors today." Skya said. "Where are those Tools anyway?" Dozer asked. "Dudes! Here they come!" Ton-Ton said, seeing the Tools coming.
"Ty, we have our suppies!" Revvit called. "You got the bolt for Garby too?" Ty asked. "Got it right here." Click-Clack said, switching the bits on his head. "Good. Get busy. The Scraptors'll be back soon." Ty said. "We are on it." Revvit said. Click-Clack, Ace and Waldo went over to Garby and begun working on repairs.
"STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING!" Pedwick's voice screamed out. The Tools and Trux turned to see Pedwick scurrying towards them. "I'm guessing that's Pedwick." Ty guessed. "Yep." Revvit said. Just then, Dil turned up, panting heavily. "I'm sorry, guys. He's pretty fast." She panted out. "Look at you. You Tools are just practically serving at the Trux's whim! This just proves that Trux and Tools are not capable of working together." Pedwick said as Dil rejoined her friends. "Listen, Pedwick, you got everything all wrong. This is what Trux and Tools are meant to do. Building a community for everyone. Tool and Trux alike." Ty said. Pedwick just shot one of his bits in Ty's eye. "OW!" "I don't need your worthless sympathy speeches, T-Trux!" Pedwick shouted. "Pedwick, you have to stop! You can't control what other Tools think or do. And helping our friends is what we choose to do." Revvit said. "No, this is wrong! ALL OF THIS IS WRONG!" Pedwick screamed. "No. The only one wrong hereā¦is you, Pedwick." A blue Wrenchtool said. "If you refuse to accept what you see, then you are no longer welcome in our Ravine." A grey Rotilian Reptool said. That shocked Pedwick so much.
By then, Click-Clack, Ace and Waldo finally finished repairing Garby. "It's over, Pedwick." Ty said. Pedwick looked around. He clearly saw that he was outnumbered. "This is not over! This will never be over! I'll be back! Count on it." Pedwick said, scurrying away.
Afterwards, the Trux and Tools gathered their supplies and headed back for the garage. They also invited the other Tools for dinner. "Thanks for the help back there, Tools." Ty said. "Hey, it's what you taught us to do, Ty." A yellow Reptool said. "True." Ty said. "I wonder if there are other Tools like Pedwick that think the way he does." Skya said. "If there are, we know how to deal with them." The blue Wrechtool said. "Good to hear." Ty said.
