Same Night: New York

Bar

Steven meets up with some of the crystal gems he saved at the HYDRA camp, Garnet says to him, "So let's get this straight."

Lapis Lazuli tells him, "We barely got out of there alive, and you want us to go back?"

Steven simply says, "Pretty much."

Pearl comments on that answer, "Sounds rather fun, actually."

Amethyst burps, then says, "I'm in."

Peridot, who was sitting beside Lapis, both of them speaking with each other in silence and Peridot laughs, they both shake hands with each other and Lapis tells Steven, "We're in." She gestures to both her and Peridot

Garnet tells him, smiling a little bit, "Hell, I'll always fight. But you got to do one thing for me." She says, one beer cup in her hand.

Steven asks, "What's that?"

Garnet chugged her beer, puts her cup down and told him, "Open a tab." Steven chuckles and they all chuckle and laugh. Steven stands up, grabbing their empty cups and puts them on the bar as Garnet tells the others, "Well, that was easy." They all laugh.

Steven says to the bar keeper, "Another round."

Barkeeper asks in disbelief, "Where are they putting all this stuff?"

Steven walks into another part of the bar as the music gets louder and some of the men in the bar start to sing. Steven then joins Lars at the bar-counter on his left as Lars tells him, "See? I told you. They're all idiots."

Steven asks, "How about you? You're ready to follow Captain Universe into the jaws of death?"

Lars tells him, "Hell no. That little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him." He sips his drink, "But you're keeping the outfit, right?"

Steven looks at the Captain Universe poster behind him that says 'cancelled' on it and he answers him, "You know what? It's kind of growing on me."

The singing in the bar stops as Connie and Jenny, both in tight fitting and deep-red dresses on, walks in as the boys stare at them.

Both Steven and Lars turn to look at them and they quickly stand up as both of the girls enter the bar and they walk over to where Steven and Lars were at, both of them were speechless because Connie never wears a dress that fancy before, Connie walks confidently across the bar to Steven, "Captain." Jenny follows and smirks faintly, knowing what she's up to.

Steven and Lars both stand in front of them, "Connie." Steven nods at Jenny respectfully, "Agent Carter."

Lars nods to Jenny, "Ma'am." He looks at Connie, "Connie."

Jenny informs Steven, but he and Connie are just looking at each other deeply, "Sadie told me to inform you that Stanford has some equipment for you to try. Tomorrow morning?"

Steven, still looking at Connie and answers her, "Sounds good."

Connie breaks eye contact for a second to look around the bar as Steven looks down at her body, then back to her eyes again as she looks back at Steven, "I see your top squad is prepping for duty." Lars slightly rolled his eyes at him.

Lars turns to Jenny and asks, "You don't like music?"

Jenny answers him, politely, "I do, actually. I might even, when this is all over, go dancing."

Lars asks curiously, "Then what are you waiting for?"

Jenny answers, "The right partner." She smiles at Steven when he looks at her, both remembering the conversation in the car (From Chapter 5) and she gestures at Connie with her eyes to him, basically saying 'make a move' and Steven looks back at Connie and Jenny reminds him before she leaves, "0800, Captain."

Steven says to her again, not looking away from Connie, "Yes, ma'am. I'll be there."

Lars asks Connie, "Connie, where's Sadie?"

Connie answers, not looking at him, "At home, waiting for you." She breaks eye contact again and tells them, "I'll be right back." Then she heads to the ladies room. The music starts coming on again.

Lars was in shock at Connie's behavior, "I'm invisible. I'm…I'm turning into you. It's like some horrible dream." They both turn back to the bar.

Steven pats his shoulder, "Don't take it so hard. You should go, like Connie said Sadie's waiting for you." Lars looks down, nodding and then looks up and smiles at Steven, he gives him two pats on the shoulder, turns around and walks out and heads to his apartment where Sadie's waiting for him.

Steven watches as his best friend leaves the bar to go see his other best friend who's pregnant, he smiles and just as he turns back to the bar, Connie comes back from the ladies room and walks to him. Steven smiles at her and holds out his hand and says, "May I have this dance?"

Connie smiles and takes his hand and answers him, "Yes, you may." He leads her to the dance floor, when they reached the center, he spins her around and gently pulls her to him, putting his right arm around her waist, his left hand on her right and she puts her left hand on his shoulder, close together they lean their foreheads together, eyes closed, swaying softly and slowly, enjoying their moment together, happy to be in each other's arms again.

Lars and Sadie's Apartment

(Inaudible) Lars walks into the apartment and closes the door and sees Sadie walk out of their shared room in her nightgown and they smile at each other and hug each other tightly.

Moments later, with a record player in the living room area, playing a song, they sway slowly around in each other's arms.

Later, in their shared bed, Sadie lays on her back and Lars lays beside her on her right side, shirtless as she guides his free hand around her belly and stops when she feels the baby move. Lars smiles big when he feels a kick and gives her belly a kiss, then looks up at her and moves up and gives her a loving kiss on the lips as her right hand goes up to his hair and brushes her fingers through as he places his head down to her chest and closes his eyes in content, his left hand still on her belly and hers on top of his while her other one is still on his head. Both feel at peace, being in each other's arms.

Steven and Connie's Apartment

Steven and Connie walk inside, hand in hand, happy with the night so far. They both take off their shoes and walk into their shared bedroom as they are about to get ready for bed, Connie walks into the bathroom to change into her nightgown and Steven takes off his military uniform, left in his underwear and Connie comes out of the bathroom and they both get in bed.

Steven behind Connie, wraps his right arm around her, getting into a comfortable position to sleep, but then he feels her turn around to face him, they look at each other for a moment before she gently grabs his face and crashes her lips to his in a sweet kiss, surprised for a second but kisses her back. The kiss becomes more passionate and she rolls up on top of him, straddling him and she pulls herself closer to him and he pulls back from the kiss and asks her, "You sure?" She nods to him, and goes to kiss him again but stops.

Connie pulls back a bit and asks him, "Are you sure?" He looks at her for a moment, then nods himself. Steven pulls her closer to kiss her again.

Later, Steven was on top of Connie, he placed his head on her chest and held her close to him. Connie's right hand was around his head and the other hand was on the back of his neck, holding him close to her and she placed a kiss on his head. Both of them spend the rest of the night in each other's arms.

Morning:

Military Base - Lab Area

Stanford is by a glass chamber and examines the HYDRA cartridge, staring at the glowing pellet, speaking to a technician beside him, "Emission signature is unusual. Alpha and Beta are neutral. Though I doubt Mr. Universe picked up on that. Seems harmless enough. Hard to see what all the fuss is about." He uses a machine to remove the glowing pellet. A tiny touch to it and the blast sends Stanford and the technician flying across the room. Stanford lifts his head up stunned by the blast and says, "Write that down."

Filing Area

Steven walks down the hall, looking for Stanford and sees Private PeeDee sitting on a chair, cross legged and reading a newspaper, he goes up to him, puts his hands behind him in a respectful manner and asks, "Excuse me, I'm looking for Mr. Pines."

Private PeeDee is still reading, not looking up, answering him in boredom, "He's in with Colonel Dewey." Steven nods, still standing there and looking around, Private PeeDee finally looks up and sees him and his attitude changes from boredom to flirty, "Of course you're welcome to wait." Steven nods awkwardly and goes to lean on the desk a few feet in front of him with his hands in front of him again in a respectful manner, "I uh read about what you did." He held up the newspaper, showing his rescue mission story.

Steven smiles shyly and gestures to the paper, "Oh! The…yeah! Well, that's you know? Just doing what needed to be done."

Private PeeDee was still sitting on his chair but seductively, "Sounded like more than that. You saved nearly four hundred soldiers."

Steven smiles politely, "Really, it's not a big deal."

Private PeeDee stands up, "Tell that to their wives and husbands." Steven gets nervous as Private PeeDee walks up to him.

Steven crosses his arms over his chest, "Uh…I don't think they were all married."

Private PeeDee stands in front of him, "You're a hero."

Steven scratches his forehead, telling him, "Well, that…you know? That…that depends on the definition of it really." Private PeeDee grabs a hold of Steven's tie.

Private PeeDee told him in a flirty shush whisper, "The men and women of America, they owe you their thanks." He walks backwards, pulling him gently by the tie, taking him behind the shelves with the files, "And uh…seeing as they're not here." He pulled Steven closer to him and was about to kiss him.

Jenny walks him before their lips touch, "Captain!" Steven jumped, very startled and quickly backed away from Private PeeDee, "We're ready for you. If you're not otherwise occupied." She walks away angrily, knowing Sadie and Connie will be furious at him.

Steven runs up and follows her as she continues walking, "Agent Carter, wait."

Jenny tells him as she looks ahead, "Looks like finding a partner wasn't that hard after all." Recalling their conversation from before his transformation (From Chapter 5).

Steven fixes his tie and tells her, "Jenny, that's not what you thought it was."

Jenny tells him, "I don't think anything, Captain. Not one thing. But, I'm not sure about what Sadie and Connie will think." Steven's eyes widened a bit at the thought of both his best friend and girlfriend completely mad at him. Jenny continues speaking, "You always wanted to be a soldier and now you are. Just like all the rest."

Steven stops walking and asks her a little tensely, "Well, what about Sadie and Stanford? How do I know those two haven't been…fonduing?"

Jenny turns to look at him and sees his curious but also protective look on his face for his best friend, she rolls her eyes at his ridiculous thought as she turns and continues to walk, "You still don't know a bloody thing about men and women." Steven looks at her, confused.

Stanford's voice, "Fondue is just cheese and bread, my friend."

Outside Stanford's Lab Area

Tech Room

Stanford and Steven walk into a tech room as Stanford explains to Steven what Fondue is.

Steven's a little embarrassed by that statement, "Really? I didn't think…"

Stanford tells him, "Nor should you, pal. Sadie and I are just friends. The moment you think you know what's going on in a woman's head, it's the moment your goose is well and truly cooked. For me, I concentrate on work. Which at the moment is about making sure you and your soldiers do not get killed." He walks to a table with a certain fabric on it, "Carbon Polymer. Should withstand your average German bayonet. Although HYDRA'S not going to attack you with a pocket knife." He walks over to where Steven's Captain Universe stage shield is, "I hear you're uh…" He taps it, "Kinda attached?"

Steven looks at the small shield, "It's handier than you might think."

Stanford stands behind another table, "I took the liberty of coming up with some options." He shows him the few weird looking 'shields' and points at one, "This one's fun. She's been fitted with electrical relays. It'll allow you to…" Steven looks down, under the table and sees a round silver looking shield."

Steven asks, "What about this one?" As he picks up the round silver looking shield, Stanford stops him.

Stanford quickly denies and says, "No! No! That's just a prototype."

Steven holds it and asks, "What's it made of?"

Stanford gives in and answers, "Vibranium. It's stronger than steel and a third of the weight. It's completely vibration absorbent."

Steven puts it on his left arm, getting the feel for it, "How come it's not a standard tissue?" He looks at Stanford.

Stanford has his hands in his front pant pockets, standing casually, answers him, "That's the rarest metal on earth. What you're holding there, that's all we've got."

Jenny and Connie walk toward them. Connie, knowing about the 'almost kiss' and has an angry blank look on her face, asks Stanford with little to almost no emotion, "You quite finished, Mr. Pines?" She says the next sentence a little bitter, "I'm sure the Captain has some unfinished business?"

Steven can see that she already knows and hopes to relieve the tension off and holds up the Vibranium shield against him and asks with a small cute smile, "What do you think?"

Connie looks at him for a second with still void emotion on her face and picks up a gun that's on a table beside her and shoots at Steven as he quickly holds up the shield as she shot four bullets that are now on the floor from bouncing off the shield and Steven looks up from behind the shield and Stanford stands up from his hiding spot behind the table and lowers his arm that that he shielded his face with and both men look at her with a stunned expressions. Connie just breathes and smiles at them-like she had to get off her chest, "Yes. I think it works." She puts the gun down back where it was before and looks at Jenny behind her-who has a faint proud smile on her face and Connie nods her head, a little gesturing to leave with her and they both walk out of the lab, with Steven and Stanford who's now beside him on his left, looking at both of the women with stunned expressions on their faces. Everyone in the room stopped when they heard gun fire, silence filled the room as both ladies walked away.

Steven is still looking ahead at the women as he pulls a list out of his pocket and hands it to Stanford, "I had some ideas about the uniform."

Stanford also looks ahead where the two women left off as he takes the list from Steven and responds, "Whatever you want, pal."

Outside / Inside Buildings - Different

Countries / Locations

(Inaudible) Steven in his new uniform with the same red, blue and white colors, puts a rifle in his motorbike holster on the side, cocks his handgun and puts it in his holster on his right leg and puts on the Vibranium shield that is now painted with pink, blue and white stripes around it with the white star in the middle on his back.

In the HYDRA Base Camp, Steven and the Crystal Gems, which does include Lars and Connie, break down the doors and start shooting up the place. Steven was fighting with two HYDRA soldiers and hit them with his shield and the fly back by the hit.

In another building, it blows up with Steven on his motorcycle flying in the air, coming out of the building and lands perfectly on the ground and continues to ride with a proud smirk on his face as the building behind him collapses to the ground. Later at night, Spinel with her fancy HYDRA car, drives up to the destroyed and still burning HYDRA camp, she grips the steering wheel tightly in anger.

In the military base, it shows a large map of the world with a few HYDRA little flags on it, gets taken off and is given to Sadie as she takes it with a small smirk on her face and she puts it in the box that's beside her.

In the forest covered in snow, the Crystal Gems, Steven, Lars and Connie all walking with their guards up, Steven ahead of them, gestures silently for them to continue walking, Lars closer to Connie on her right in case anything happens. Steven looks around, shield in front of him, he suddenly throws his shield up in the air toward a tree, hitting a Hydra soldier that was hiding there, making him fall from it and Steven catches the shield roughly as it came back to him from it bouncing off the soldier-he's still learning how to use it, and he puts it back on his left arm.

In another forest but with no snow, all of them were running as bombs were thrown, shooting and at the enemy. Later, now quiet, a HYDRA truck was driving on the dirt road. Steven, Lars and the Crystal Gems watch as Connie quickly ran with a bomb in her arms and rolled it on the road, unnoticed by the HYDRA trucks as she rolled under the truck, laying on her back and quickly attached the bomb underneath the truck as it passed her and she stands up and covers her ears to see the truck blow up and she raises her arms in victory, smiling happily and looks over at the others as she sees Garnet laughing at her victory gesture with Steven and Lars smiling, amused by her.

In the military base, theatre room, Colonel Dewey, Jenny and Sadie, who now has a bit of a larger belly and a few other people are sitting and watching the film of Steven, Lars, Connie and the Crystal Gems.

A video popped up with the screen being in black and white color, showing Garnet talking to Lapis and she glances at the camera. Steven was standing by a car without his helmet on, looking over a map and talking to the others, pointing in a direction. Connie stood in front of him across the hood of the car, handing him her open compass. Lars stood beside her also looking at the map as Steven takes the compass and puts it by the map, showing inside the compass was a picture of a smiling Sadie, Steven closes the compass and hands it back to Connie as he slightly glares into the camera. Sadie smiles a little, knowing that she would be also out there if she wasn't pregnant. Colonel Dewey and Jenny look over at her with knowing looks, basically her family being out there in the war. In another video, it shows Steven still slightly glaring at the camera as he walks by and has his left hand on Connie's back-who is not fazed by the camera and continues to walk forward with Lars slightly following behind them.

Looking through the eye scope on a sniper rifle, Connie lays on her stomach and sees Steven walking to Lars as the site they are on is destroyed and she looks up as a HYDRA soldier is about to shoot Steven, she shoots him before he could, both Steven and Lars turn to see her cock her rifle, ready to shoot more that comes along and Steven gives her a two finger salute as to say 'thank you' to her.

In the military base, Sadie was taking more HYDRA flags off the map.

In the woods, Steven was fighting the Hydra soldiers with bombs exploding behind him, he threw his shield forward.

In the HYDRA Camp, Steven jumps up and lands on a big HYDRA tank, breaks the lock with his shield and opens the steel door and pulls a soldier out. Pearl runs past the tank, throwing a pack of active bombs to Steven, she runs away as Steven easily catches it and quickly drops it in the tank, closing the steel door and jumps off the tank as it explodes.

Recently Destroyed Hydra Camp

Standing on a destroyed building, Spinel says furiously, "You are failing! We are close to an offensive that will shake the planet, yet we are continually delayed, because you cannot outwit a simpleton with a shield!"

Dr. Ronaldo quickly defended himself, "This is hardly my area of expertise! I…I merely develop the weapons. I…I cannot fire them."

Spinel told him sternly, "Finish your mission, Doctor. Before the American finishes his." They get interrupted by two soldiers bringing a survivor from the attack.

A guard grabs Spinel's attention, "Ma'am!"

The facility manager that survived says, exhausted, "I'm sorry, Spinel. We fought to the last man."

Dr. Ronaldo looks away knowingly as Spinel pulls out her ray handgun and points it at the survivor, "Evidently not." She shoots him in the head and kills him.
