Chapter 2: Growth

I rarely saw a pop-up over the next few years. Skill changes did not seem to prompt them, only full level-ups. I would however get a vague emotional impression of...perhaps satisfaction or approval through the Force which usually accompanied a skill leveling up. Or rather, me developing a skill to the threshold where it was considered at a higher level than I had previously been.

Because this odd Force Power seemed to just be a way to quantify my progress, not a method for the progress itself. I didn't suddenly get better at Athletics when it hit level three. It just meant I had been working hard in the physical activities they applied us Younglings towards and that progress was being recognized.

I did discover however, that the level of self-awareness such intimate knowledge of my skills granted was a great boon.

For example, I knew exactly why I wasn't keeping up with where The Troll wanted me to be in lightsaber combat instruction.

It was my eight points in Dexterity versus my ten in Strength. Shii-cho was never going to be my best lightsaber form. I was fantastic at the sweeping strikes and holding the robust parries of the form, but I was never quick enough in my reaction time or speed of movement to please Battlemaster Cin Drallig.

"Take a break, Oritor." Master Drallig stated as he sent me to my ass for the third time that class, "You need to work on your speed like usual, but your form is coming along nicely. Next!"

And the next victim...I mean student approached as I headed over to one of the benches along the practice hall.

'Level Up! Level 3!' crossed my vision, that was a nice boost to my mood.

'Select Attribute to Focus'

That was a new option. I clicked into it and discovered that every other level as a Youngling and Padawan I would be able to select an attribute to increase based on my performance since the last increase.

Looking I saw that every attribute except Charisma had been worked on enough that I could choose to increase them.

Needless to say after my issues with Master Drallig I immediately picked Dexterity. The Force rushed through my muscles and tendons at my selection, it almost felt as if they were being guided in their healing and development by the Force itself.

I wasn't certain, but from the description I thought things might get a little easier when it came to my speed and reflexes from here on out.

Approximately fifteen minutes into my recovery period, and thus two new victims into the Troll's teaching methods, a relatively well known newly minted Jedi Knight and his padawan walked in through the facility's doors.

The boy seemed to be only a few years older than myself and was radiating nervousness.

His master was Obi-Wan Kenobi, the newly minted knight who had slain the first real Sith to reveal themselves in a millennia.

Perhaps it was my past life or perhaps it was my Mandalorian blood, but I was fascinated by the tales of the conflicts between the Jedi and their opponents. Often they were conflicts with the Sith or my own people, but even the Nihil that Grand Master Yoda had fought against in his first years as a Jedi Master during the height of the current Republic's colonization of the Mid and Outer Rim worlds were fascinating stories to me.

Which meant it should not have come to a surprise that I paid particular attention as Knight Kenobi walked up to Master Drallig.

"Knight Kenobi," The battlemaster's stern voice growled out, without any malice of course, Master Cin Drallig was simply a taciturn man I had learned, "To what do we owe this pleasure?"

The younger man couldn't have been past his mid-twenties, not exceptionally early for a human to be knighted, but not at the average age either.

"I have been teaching my new padawan, Anakin, the basics of the lightsaber forms, however he never got the chance to spar with his peers. I was perhaps wondering if you would allow me to occasionally bring him by the spar with members of your various classes near him in age?"

Anakin...the Force echoed the name in my head and I blinked back a wave of dizziness.

"Hmm...very well, I suppose I could accommodate young Skywalker in some of my classes. This clan has some particularly competent students."

SKYWALKER! The Force seemed to scream in my head and I pitched forward, clutching my forehead with one hand and stopping my fall with the other.

I distantly heard a few of my classmates yelp or scream as my vision swam and changed.

Force Power Unlocked, Foresee wavered in my dizzied mind before images began rushing past me.

A dark wind seeped out of a crumbling jungle temple rotating and funneling up into a tornado that fed a lesser but still powerful dark storm. The lesser darkness took a shape, a dark robed man with lightning crackling around and throughout the stormy form. Lights of blue, green, yellow, and purple that I recognized as lightsaber blades flew from the sky, and yet there were all tossed aside.

And worse, I saw a blue blade turn red and begin defending the darkness. Until I was struck down by an opposing blue blade which then itself turned to red and struck down all the remaining blades.

As the cackling continued one blue blade rose from the fallen and as it fought it slowly turned to green, until both it and the red blade turned upon the darkness and struck it down.

However it did not die, it seeped into the greater darkness, hiding.

"On!"

Slowly my normal senses began to return.

"Saxon!"

I gasped for air as my head snapped up from the fading vision.

"What happened to you, boy? The Force near exploded off of you there!" Cin Drallig's voice cut through my haze and I noticed he had a hand on my shoulder steadying me, and that Knight Kenobi was also nearby, about ready to bolt and get a Healer if necessary.

"I…" I took another gulp of air, "I think...Skywalker is going to be very important to us all one day."

Master Drallig's eyes widened in surprise, however Knight Kenobi's eyes...his expression held less a surprise at the statement's content, and more a shock that I had gained that information.

"By the Force…" Master Drallig let out, almost at a whisper, "Foresight...this...my boy let's get you to the infirmary. And then we can talk about what to do with this skill."

He turned to look at the rest of the Wolf Clan, "Class dismissed, and no gossiping about this! Or I'll hand out private tutoring!"

Master Drallig and Knight Kenobi helped me stand and began walking me over to the infirmary, I was still exceptionally wobbly.

"Fore...sight?" I questioned, "What is that?"

I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not, but Master Drallig's explanation perfectly matched the pop up that my statement created in my mind.

"Force users often have precognitive flashes, experiencing waking dreams or visions about people and situations through their abilities. These powers are rarely so clear and obvious as to provide unequivocal visions of the future, but they are certainly enough to give Force users pause for thought when they have a "bad feeling about something", or in your case a feeling that something was going to be very important later."

Obi-Wan picked up where the battlemaster left off, "The power of foresight has been used in countless different ways by countless different Force users throughout history. Some use it to gain vague images far into the future, while others use it to predict the movements of their foes or see an unexpected event soon to happen. Master Yoda, Knight Pong Krell, and Knight Depa Billaba are three notable talents in the area currently in the Order."

"I...it wasn't just the feeling," I explained, "I saw the Order fighting an incredible dark storm, flashing with lightning. The Order being betrayed."

My jedi seniors both glanced at each other in concern.

"We will get you to Master Yoda after we have you checked out, he will wish to go over the details you can glean from this vision."

"Y-yeah that sounds…" Suddenly all my energy plummeted and I passed out in their grips.

Feats:

Universal Armor Proficiency (Sub-race ability)- Mandalorians seem to have such a natural affinity for armor of any type that you will swiftly acclimate to movement and usage of any armor you don. Swiftly is however a relative term, the more complex or heavy the armor is the greater the acclimatization time will be regardless.

The Unknowable Game- While your thoughts and emotions can still be sensed by the Force, information about this special ability is clouded.

Unlocked Forms:

Form I: Shii-Cho- Rank 1 Beginner

*Lightsaber forms have five ranks: Beginner, Novice, Acolyte, Knight, and Master.

Acolyte or even Knight level in some forms may be required to begin studying certain forms.
