"Wait, wait, wait, hold on. Going so soon?" Anna ran forward and asked a mother and her child.
"The Yule bell rang, we must get home to prepare for our family tradition, rolling the yephsla." The mother pulled her child along as another couple came up behind Anna.
"Ours is putting out porridge for the tunta." A man told her holding his wife's hand and tipping his hat.
"Were baking traditional stogglebukles." Two blonde twins said skipping past her, Olaf wobbled up to an elderly couple mumbling.
"And I'm going to felay the krumsakringlekakke! That's a thing, right?" Olaf asked Anna while Elsa and Peter came over.
"Mr. and Mrs. Olsen, your welcome to join us in the castle if you like?" Elsa asked the elderly couple walking slowly out of the courtyard.
"Thank you, your Majesties, but Olga and I should be getting home to knit socks for our grandchildren." The man said smiling at his wife.
"It's our tradition." Olga explains while pointing at her husband.
"Yes, and we would not want to intrude on your family traditions." Mr. Olsen told the royals as he and his wife exited the courtyard.
Elsa let go of Peter's hand in defeat and Anna sighed sadly.
"Oh, the surprise was that everyone left." Olaf says bluntly as Kristoff came over wearing a moss robe and strumming his guitar.
"Hey, I say it's there loss. Who needs a big party anyway?" Kristoff told them while playing a tune.
Somehow in all the chaos, Kristoff had put on a cape made out of what appeared to be moss, with a leafy, lion's mane like collar.
"Kristoff, I'm afraid to ask, but what are you wearing?" Peter asks, afraid of the answer.
Kristoff then gained a smile at the question. "Well, I'm glad you asked, my friend..."
"I already regret asking." Peter could already tell he'll regret asking.
"In fact, I've got just the thing to cheer you all up! My favorite traditional troll...tradition." Kristoff says as he looked at Anna. "Care to join in?"
Anna gave an enthusiastic look. "Uh, yeah!"
Kristoff then began to explain how it worked, "Okay, it starts with a gathering song, 'The Ballad of Flemingrad!'"
As he began dancing around the courtyard Olaf yelled, "I love ballads!"
"Every December, we all gather round. To pay our respects to a troll so renowned..." Kristoff sang as Sven pulled a lumpy object covered in a blanket next to Kristoff. Everyone looked at it curiously, but said nothing, enjoying Kristoff's little song, "In remembrance of the friend we had... A jolly old soul we called Flemingrad!"
"Tempo!" Olaf stated.
As Sven and Olaf joined in the dancing part of the ballad, Olaf used his arm as a flute, a surprisingly successful endeavor. Kristoff continued, "We all dig deep down... And we uproot the past..." He continued to sing as he danced around his girlfriend and friends, "We shove up its nostrils a fistful of grass..."
"Nostrils?" Peter and Elsa whispered to each other in concern.
As Sven appeared with a mouthful of grass in his mouth as Kristoff sang, "We shape his likeness, bless his soul..."
As Kristoff prepared his big finish, Sven grabbed the blanket with his mouth and yanked it off the lumpy object; to reveal a strange rock statue.
Olaf shrieked with pure joy, as Peter, Elsa, and Anna just stared at it unsure what to think of it as Anna commented, "Whoa, gross."
Everyone continued to stare at it as Kristoff finished his song, "Oh Flemmy, the fungus troll." As soon as Kristoff finished singing he smiled at the group, "Now you lick his forehead and make a wish!"
Kristoff then proceeded to lick the top of the statues head, while Peter covered his and Elsa's eyes as they and Anna tried to keep themselves from vomiting.
"Who's next?" Kristoff asked still having grass on his face.
Anna immediately nudged Elsa, "Peter, Elsa, you two love birds are up!"
Elsa and Peter gagged at that as they pulled themselves together.
"Yeah...that's gonna be a hard pass from me." Elsa tells him.
"Come on. Tastes like lichen." Kristoff tried to persuade them.
"I'm still recovering from Rhino's battle. Can't eat anything for a few hours until my ribs settle back into place." Peter made up a believable lie.
Olaf leaned to Anna and whispered, "You're a princess. You don't have to settle."
"Okay. Not so much a royal activity. I get it." Kristoff nodded understandably, Sven quickly licked the grass off his face before he continued as he pulled out a large pot, "But wait until you taste my traditional Flemmy stew. It may smell like wet fur, but it's a real crowd pleaser."
"Oh, thanks. We're good." Anna smiled politely as Kristoff left to make his food as everyone else nodded.
"Big breakfast." Elsa stated as she then turned to Peter. "Please tell me some of your friends from the Avengers are able to come to the party?"
Peter looked sheepishly at hat he was told before he made his way here. "Well...no, the main majority of them are at home with their own families."
Elsa groaned, "I should have known..."
"But I did invite a few I knew would be alone and Tony said he got into touch with a few old friends who he said were already on their way here." Peter said with a smile when he suddenly sensed something that sounded like an gigantic engine, followed by the familiar tone of 'Hooked on A Feeling' and began to become very worried as to who Tony contacted. "No...no, Tony wouldn't do that to me."
Peter doesn't even want to turn around as he sees the confused looks on all of their faces as a spaceship comes down behind them all.
"What up, Pete!" The unmistakable voice of Peter Quill asks as the doors to the Milano open and outcome the most crazy, psychotic group of heroes for hire throughout the galaxy.
The Guardians of the Galaxy.
"Tony, what did I do to you?" Peter asks, looking back to anything recent he might've done to make Tony mad at him to do this to him.
"Peter, who are these people?" Anna asks as the group approach them.
"Elsa, Anna...meet the Guardians of the Galaxy." Peter introduced them to the team with a sigh as he gestured to each member. "You already met Peter Quill...ish. You met his doppelgänger." He then gestures to a raccoon wearing an outfit. "The thing that looks like a raccoon is Rocket Raccoon. Just don't call him a raccoon, he gets feisty when you call him that." He then gestured to the green skinned lady in a dark sleeveless suit. "That's Gamora. The daughter of Thanos."
"Daughter?" Elsa asked.
"Thanos?" Anna also asked.
"Adoptive father." Gamora assured them.
Peter then points to the Kylosian of the group. "That's Drax the Destroyer, he's a bit naïve and hopelessly underdeveloped. He'll remind you of Olaf given time." He then points to the giant walking tree. "And he's Groot."
"I am Groot." Groot says.
"Yeah, he can only say I am Groot, but you can sometimes get the gist of what he's trying to say given time." Peter explains to them.
"And how do you know these people?" Anna asked.
"We met during the battle with Thanos." Peter explains and points to Quill. "He pointed a gun at my head. And almost got everyone killed."
"Hey, I said sorry. That was like five years ago." Quill scoffed at the reminder.
"Who else did you invite?" Elsa was curious to know.
"Only everyone's favorite wingman!" They heard a familiar voice as they looked to see Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon flying in and stocking a landing. "What's happening, people?"
"Sam!" Peter was at least happy to see this one and gave Sam a fist bump. "Great to see you made it."
"It was either this or watch Tony get drunk again and pee in his suit." Sam shrugged and laughed. "It wasn't even a competition."
They then heard a motorcycle approach and saw as Bucky Barnes; the Winter Soldier has joined their party.
"I'll admit, wasn't sure if you'd come." Peter confessed.
"What can I say? I'm getting a little tired of being Steve and Sharon's third wheel." Bucky shrugged as he strolled over.
"Buddy, you will always be Steve's third wheel." Peter stated with a laugh. "Or his top ship."
"I will find whoever made that." Bucky promised.
"Did you really drive your motorcycle all the way out here? It's a little hard to do over water." Sam asked him.
"Nah, I borrowed Nat's hover bike." Bucky said and gestured back to the motorcycle. "It's a lot harder than it looks."
"Well, you can all head inside. There's enough food for everyone." Elsa assured as everyone then headed inside.
"I am Groot?" Groot said.
"How should I know how that snowman's alive?" Rocket asked the giant branch as they walked inside. "I just know it's not natural."
"Said the talking raccoon to the talking tree." Elsa whispered to Anna who laughed.
"Well, I guess they're better than nothing." Anna shrugged and looked back to the Milano. "Did they know they left their ship open?"
"They're sorta like hobos of the galaxy. And heroes for hire." Peter explained the guardians to them. "They're aware and probably don't care."
"What's a hero for hire?" Elsa asked.
"They're what we call people who use their gifts as a way to make a living. A lot of people do it. Jessica Jones, Danny Rand sometimes, Matt uses his heighten senses in court, and Luke Cage sometimes hires himself out as a type of muscle." Peter listed for them. "These guys kinda do the same thing and use their reputation of saving the galaxy to earn money by doing jobs throughout the known universe."
"Huh." Elsa commented in surprise. "And what about the raccoon?"
"He's an experiment that went rogue and escaped some aliens. Same goes for Groot." Peter explains as they walked back inside and saw the Guardians and the Avengers duo were roaming around the room chatting and eating.
Just then, they heard Olaf chuckling as Peter looked at the snowman, wondering what's so funny.
"What are you laughing about, Olaf?" Peter asked him with a chuckle.
"I'm so excited! I can't wait!" Olaf exclaimed as he bounced around.
Elsa turned to him just as confused as Peter. "For what, Olaf?"
"For your family tradition." Olaf answered as he jumped excitedly. "What is it? Tell me, tell me, tell me!"
Peter noticed that both of girls looked pensive and looked off into the distance.
Anna turned to her older sister, "Do we have any traditions, Elsa? Do you remember?"
"Well… I remember..." Elsa said thoughtfully before beginning to sing a sad little song while looking at a portrait on the wall, "It was long ago. They would ring the bells. We could hear it chime through Arendelle..." she recalled the last Christmas with the gates open. Back when their parents were still alive, "I remember the way that I felt back then... We would ring in the season..."
Elsa remembered standing between her mother and father with Anna in her mother's arms. The whole kingdom was there, and as her parents brought the rope down so all four of them were holding it, Elsa remembered the sense of joy she felt in that moment.
As she finished her song, she was brought back into the present, "We would ring in the season..."
"But the Jul bell was for the kingdom, what about us?" Anna pointed out.
Elsa looked down as if she were sad, and Peter didn't like where this was going.
"After the gates were closed, we were never together." Elsa sighed and walked off.
Elsa turned and walked towards the door as Anna tried to call out to her, "Elsa!"
"I'm sorry Anna, it's my fault we don't have any family traditions." Elsa left the room and slammed the door.
"Wait, Elsa." Anna cried as she went towards her sister but was too late as Elsa slammed the door behind her.
A flood of memories came back to Anna, of closed and locked doors. Life without Elsa. She sighed and turned away, holding back tears.
Even Olaf, who was always happy, looked sad. Peter sighed as he was afraid of this, the whole fear of her powers was still affecting them.
Peter Quill was looking up at the ceiling and then back down to his Walkman. "Did anyone else hear that music?"
"Oh, yeah." Bucky assured him while taking a seat and taking a drink.
"Man...the Parker Luck strikes yet again." Peter sighed as he rubbed his temple. "Since when did the season of Joy became the season of tears?" He asked himself, but then realized this is how every one of his Christmas' are spent. "Oh, who am I kidding? This is one of my toned down Christmas'. What would Ben or May do to fix this?" He then remembered his old tradition his Uncle did when he was still alive. "Wait...maybe I can help fix this...I just hope I still have it..."
Peter then made his way to his room with an idea in mind.
"Hey, Pete, where you going?" Sam called him out.
"Just need to search for something that might just get the Christmas cheer back up. Do me a favor, keep Rocket from shooting Olaf!" Peter asked of them and quickly raced out of the room.
"I am Groot." Groot said as he was eyeing the tree.
"Not all trees are alive like you, Groot." Rocket informed him.
"Hey, where is Olaf?" Gamora asked as she noticed the snowman was gone.
"Who is Olaf?" Quill asked.
"Why is Olaf?" Drax asked them, causing the room to go silent in confusion. "What?"
A few minutes earlier, Olaf sucked out from the party and burst into Sven's barn, causing him to jump up.
"Sven, Anna and Elsa don't have a family tradition!" Olaf told the reindeer as Sven looked distraught at the news. "I know it's sad, but I have a solution!"
Sven perked up, listening to see what Olaf had to say.
"We'll go and find the best tradition Anna and Elsa have ever seen and bring it back to the castle! Are you with me?"
Sven did a little dance and gave Olaf a high five, showing that he was.
However, Sven didn't remember his own strength which knocked Olaf's stick arm off in the process.
"Ow!" Olaf said, still cheerfully.
A few minutes later, after Olaf tracked down his arm, hooked Sven up to the sleigh, and they were off.
"Let's go find their tradition!"
