Janet approached her prey from behind, it had a nearly 360Β° vision, but her approach gave her a semblance of "not being seen" by her target… And "semblance" had been the right word, because it startled and flew off, whizzing through the underbrush.

The Entomology-enthusiast growled, but didn't give up and set off after it, reaching a clearing of the town park, where three teenagers were laying down, partially in the sun and partially under the shade.

They were two boys and a girl around 17-18 years old (so her peers) and the former duo was side by side, with entangled legs, while the latter was laying across them with the head of the pale raven haired male on her lap, whilst her nape rested in the crook of the armpit of the dark skinned glasses-wearing kid. He had the arm on her side circling her shoulder and his fingers were enmeshed in the black locks of the pale boy, who seemed asleep under the ministrations of the duo, since the Goth girl was carding her own fingers in another area of his birdnest of a head.
The Geek-looking boy was one-hand typing something on a PDA, while leaning on a bunch of backpacks to stay propped up, while the Goth was listening him ramble, because she was nodding along as if following his reasoning.

Both paused their actions as the sleeping third shuddered but didn't wake, so, deciding that it was nothing to worry about, they carried on whispering to one another.

Janet found the scene so… cozy and domestic that she would just have smiled and passed by to search for her query, if the very same beast hadn't landed on the four-eyed boy's beret without him noticing.

Debating on herself for the matter of privacy (they were in a secluded area of the park, so they certainly didn't want to be disturbed), she decided at last to take the picture she needed first and ask for permission later, since the ghost animal seemed comfortable where it was and had no intention to move away despite the movements of its perch (for now).

The first pictures were focused on the Meganeura, trying to casually shift the angle of the image without getting spotted by her fellow teenagers, who would have moved too suddenly and frightened the insect, while a couple of the of the following ones framed the whole scene, because the poses looked so natural and relaxed that her photograph side-hobby was tingling with eagerness.

If she managed to move to another side of the edge of the clearing, the angle would have been perfect and…!

Janet's glory dreams went in flames when another shudder run through the sleeping boy and another bigass giant dragonfly zipped through her, startling her in a shriek. Fortunately it hadn't been loud enough to either wake the pale boy (his bags under the eyes were impressive, so he deserved a bit of rest) or make the other specimen fly away, but it caught the attention of the Goth and the Geek, who glared and frowned respectively in her direction.

Janet sheepishly came out from the underbrush and waved at them, as the other dragonfly settled on the propped up knee of the raven haired teen, gaining barely a glance from the others.

β€’ Sorry, for disturbing you, I was following that Meganeura to take some pictures for my blog. She explained, walking as quietly and slowly as she could to keep the bugs where they stood. From their shape and dimension they went extinct 300 million years ago, so to see, observe and photograph their behavior is a great opportunity for me. Can I take a few pictures of them? β€’ She explained with a hopeful glint in her eyes.

The duo looked at one another, holding a silent conversation, glancing occasionally to the sleeping boy, then they reached a conclusion, because the Goth spoke up. β€’ What's the blog called? And how are the pictures going to be used?

β€’ It's "ShinyYanma#193", but you don't have to worry, every time I had to obligatory include people in the frame of my photos I always pixelate their faces, above all if they're minors like us. Internet is not the safest place. β€’ Janet readily answered.
She had already done this conversation with strangers multiple time and usually this reasoning was enough to reassure people that she wouldn't do anything ill-willed without having to explain that her uninterested asexual ass wouldn't have looked for any "ulterior use" anyway.
If it makes you feel more secure, you can look at the blog, I've already have some works posted. I'm Janet Marven*, by the way. β€’ She added.

Without even pretending to be casual about it, the PDA holder used it to search for her for a couple of minutes, then he threw a glance at the girl beside him, showing her the screen. β€’ She's legit β€’ He commented, then looked at the future-entomologist. β€’ Sorry, here at Amity Park people can be odd.

β€’ Are you kidding? It's always better to double check, that's why I always encourage the people I photograph to check beforehand! β€’ She assured. β€’ Anyway, I would like to "capture" these specimens before they fly off, can I come nearer? I can keep you out of the frame if it makes you feel better.

β€’ Yes, please. β€’ The duo said as one, making her nod and mentally note to delete the full-body pictures later. Janet came to a stop few feet from them and crouched down slowly, zooming in the "knee dragonfly" and taking several shots. The reticular wings vibrated at the sound of the shutter, but it didn't move further, allowing her to get an artistic focused/blurry picture of the insect. That was going to end as her cover page for sure!

She then shifted her attention to the other on the beret, which had tip-toed to turn around and stare face to face at her. Ooooooh, this would be sooo good for her future college study! She was so glad that her dad had come to Amity for the summer!

Several photo later, Janet checked the camera storage from its digital screen. The Goth made a gesture to let her see as well and the teen complied, making the girl hum appreciatively. She stopped when she reached the full-body pictures and she glared at the bug-enthusiast.

β€’ I was going to delete these as soon as you told me you didn't wasn't your picture taken. I didn't know if the Meganeura was going to stay still after approaching you! β€’ Janet made to select the "Cancel" option, when the nerd leaned in and squished his cheek against his friend's head.

β€’ Don't you dare! I want this one! β€’ He whisper-shouted, pointing with a finger at the screen.

β€’ Tucker! β€’ The Goth hissed, scandalized.

β€’ Sam! You don't understand, look at how adorable Danny looks! β€’ The newly named "Tucker" whined, making her sigh exasperated, but also zoom the image on the sleeping boy's face.

β€’ …Okay, fine. Do you have any others? β€’ Sam huffed, trying to hide the fond look with a scowl.

The awake trio ended coaxing Tucker's giant dragonfly to perch on the nose of the sleeping boy so that Janet could take a picture of the scene (for science!, of course), then they squished him between his friends in a cocooned embrace where Danny was snuggled against the nerd's chest and the little spoon to Sam's big one, while the insects rested on the awake duo's shoulders.

Even with being gently manhandled and moved around, the pale kid never stirred, so he either was in a coma-like state, or he really trusted his friends. Maybe both.

Anyway, Janet ended practically doing a photo-shoot of the trio, getting also so many pictures of the details of the ghosts and even portrait (taken by Tucker) of herself with one of the dragonflies perched on her head, while the other was on her hand. Apparently the duo were experts in handling ghosts, so they knew how to avoid startling them.

When it was time for Janet to go back to the hotel, the Goth offered her a tip for the photos, since she had obliged to their whims and the bug-enthusiast would have refused, since they had helped her make the set of the pictures with her and the dragonflies, but their reasoning on paid-work and her being broke made her cave in at the end. Being the resident Tech-expert, Tucker managed to copy the digital photos on his PDA, successfully ending the transaction.

Just as she was about to leave the clearing, finally Danny groggily woke up, but since he was still out of it, he flopped his head on Sam's shoulder, nuzzling into it and getting a real fond smile from the stubborn girl.

...Yep, Tucker had been right: this Danny kid really was adorable like that.

* Inspiration for the surname came from Nigel Marven, British wildlife TV presenter (he used to present "Chased by Dinosaurs", "Sea Monsters" and "Prehistoric Park". The choice came because when I searched for the Meganeura monyi, in the references in medias, he was listed and seemed interesting.

A/N. Trivia for this one-shot: it was supposed to be something "bland", i.e. entomologist comes, photographs the dragonfly, then goes. Then that marvelous human being that is artistfingers posted some Everlasting Trio (Danny/Sam/Tucker ship) artworks and I (who had never thought about it before) immediately got taken by the concept, so I HAD to write something on them. Plus I was writing right in that period the prompts "Ruins" & "Sweet Dreams" so I needed a little comfort to pick me up…

Anyway, was it too fluff or not enough? I tried to stay vague in case non-shippers could read it as platonic, did I succeed? (・–・;)γ‚ž
