Pro Villain - Chapter 3/Izuku Shigaraki: Origins part 3

-Pro-

Izuku was tired of running. Mudface's quirk was the perfect counter to Metakinesis. He couldn't take the quirk unless he found the original body, which was never even close. He hoped that after his previous encounter he was rid of that bastard for a bit longer. Himiko, Hitoshi, and Izuku did their best to avoid killing people. Yes, Midoriya took their quirks more often than not, but he didn't want them dead. That was until this son of a bitch went after Bakugou. Izuku might've been gone for the better part of the last five years, but he still thought of Kaachan as his friend. And now that sludge tried to kill Midoriya's friend just because Bakugou knew him once. Not. Gonna. Happen.

He didn't run. Izuku marched through the crowd that instinctively parted before him. The feeling of power radiated from him. Small lightning discharges circled him.

"Strength five." He spoke. It wasn't loud, but also not a whisper. Still, with the exception of the roaring fire, everything was silent. The heroes didn't understand what was happening.

"Kid? What're you doing here?" Kamui Woods finally regained his composure and tried to stop Izuku, but the boy merely pushed him aside with enough strength to make the man dizzy. The other heroes were too far to intervene in time.

"Speed three."

"I'm glad you're seeing reason, villain." Mudface laughed. Katsuki tried to scream, but the sludge was already in his lungs.

"Shock redirection. Endurance four. Stone skin. Directed shockwave. Ranged punch." Black and green lightning was now coursing along his body. "All for One: twenty quirk full cowling. Obliterate!" The punch that he delivered caused the very air to be pushed out of the alley, dousing all the flames with the lack of oxygen. The sludge was scattered with it, carried by the wind up into the sky. The change of pressure caused the clouds to gather. Rain slowly fell on the now devastated street.

-Pro-

A few hours earlier

Izuku sped up, pushing his various speed quirks to their limit. The endurance quirks were being exhausted one by one and juggling them was becoming more problematic than it was worth. Still, he had to lead those bastards away from their little hideout.

The reality around him was shifting and unfolding. One of his two pursuers managed to tag him with a fourth dimension quirk, thus putting all three of them in the strange, ever-moving version of Mustafu. The up could become down and right would find him exiting the public toilet despite not entering any building. It made moving around all but impossible. Worse, the quirk was methodically closing in. Soon, Izuku would have nowhere to run. He needed some angle.

In the middle of the street, Midoriya found himself finally trapped. A walking sludge and a man in costume full of twisting and turning patterns that seemed to shift whenever he moved both cornered him. The reality finally seemed to get stable, as proved by the fact that people started to notice.

"We've finally caught you. Surrender now. Or die!" The sludge laughed. It sounded as if someone put a straw in liquid and blew. "You'll make a fine meat suit."

"I like living, thank you very much." White-haired boy deadpanned.

"You can't run anymore," Mudface growled. He was an underground Pro Hero. His quirk was practically the definition of villainous, requiring him to kill a person and digest their insides to then inhabit their skin. And yet, the HPSC utilized him often in covert operations. Now though, another side-effect of his quirk was being utilized. Izuku already got almost caught by him once and when in desperation he tried to rip the quirk away, he found that there was nothing to steal. The sludge was only the product of his quirk that contained his brain, but Mudface's real body was where his quirk rested, safely guarded against potential theft. Thus, Izuku was bereft of his most effective weapon against any government assassins that went after him.

His collection of quirks held at least forty different quirks by now. Most came from the so-called 'Underground Heroes' that were really nothing more than glorified spooks for the most part. Case in point: Fold and Mudface. They could clearly see he was a kid but still decided that it didn't matter since their orders were to bring him in or take him out.

After eighteen months on the run, Izuku needed some hope. It was what initially brought the trio to Mustafu. There had to be something left after his parents that could help him. They were too smart not to have some contingencies in place and if his mother decided to hide something, no one but her or those she trusted would find it. He'd just needed to search a few places.

The two heroes caught them shortly after they arrived. Izuku used his relatively freshly acquired Rift quirk to move them between cities. Unfortunately, whenever he used it over large distances, he triggered all kinds of sensors. Thus, the HPSC would immediately know which city he was in after each jump. He did manage to reclaim a certain stash before they found him, one that could potentially give them a small breathing space, provided he escaped the current chase and reunited with his friends. Izuku was happy with the knowledge that even if he failed here, they would still be safe.

Seeing he was caught and in a very public environment, Midoriya had to hold back on using Metakinesis. That was the name he chose for his quirk. Ability to acquire, store, and distribute quirks as well as to use them as sort of batteries. He could temporarily sacrifice a quirk to improve his body, getting stronger, faster, and more durable. Quirks were, above all, energy. The energy that he could manipulate in some ways. If he fully burned through a quirk, he had to wait about twelve hours until he could use it again both as a battery or for its unique features.

For now, it didn't matter. Izuku noted that the heroes didn't try to make a move, waiting for him to initiate the fight. There were too many witnesses for them to be the ones to start the fight. They would be eaten alive by the media and even HPSC wouldn't be able to save them. That was Izuku's saving grace, but it would only last so long.

He looked around, but the crowd was making it impossible for him to really get anywhere. By now, people formed a circle around them some distance away. This could be beneficial.

Midoriya dashed toward the crowd, creating a long vertical slash in the air where Mudface would run. Rift was an incredibly powerful quirk that created a connection between places. Izuku was trying to branch it out, using it offensively like blades of sorts, cutting things with them. He could close the rifts almost instantly after he opened them, creating a nice trail following his hand that would cut through.

He only stopped when he finally entered the crowd. The trick bought him enough precious seconds to disappear and get into the sewers. He managed to come out near a bridge in the park where he and Kaachan liked to play, far away from any prying eyes.

Fold was first to follow and fell right into Izuku's trap. Green Lightning smashed into his chest and the process of ripping out the quirk made him pass out. Izuku planned on opening a rift and getting out of there when a giant hand made of sludge shot from the sewers and grabbed him. The vile mass started to pool around him, making it impossible to move even with strength quirks. Midoriya's feet stopped touching the ground, so no speed quirk would work. And without the momentum needed to create a Rift, cutting out would not be an option. The sludge unfolded from around Izuku's arms the moment he tried pyrogenesis. It started to pour into his mouth and nose, cutting off oxygen access. He could feel it slowly fill his lungs and start to burn in his throat. All separating him from death were few seconds

Izuku concentrated on his quirk. Many were combat-oriented given who he took them from, but none would help him in this situation. That Sludge was just too invincible. Regeneration quirk was right now the only thing still keeping him alive, but even it had limits. Izuku never not had it active. It was too useful.

His vision started to darken. The lack of oxygen slowly caught up to him.

"Texas Smash!" The wind pressure suddenly increased a hundredfold and the sludge was forcefully expelled from Izuku, flying and crashing into the wall. The boy, for his part, was also pushed into the wall with enough strength to create cracks in the concrete. Before he lost consciousness, he realized that his savior was All Might.

By the time Izuku woke, the hero was already done packing the sludge into two bottles.

"Are you okay, my boy?"

Midoriya froze, unable to even move. The scenes of the fight between All Might and his father flashed before his eyes. The illegal recording of final moments that had cost him two quirks to acquire…

"Boy?"

He doesn't realize who I am. He thinks Mudface was the villain and given he's not yet trying to kill me, I think it's safe to assume he didn't interrogate that bastard yet. "I… I'm okay. Thanks for the rescue."

"No problem. But for now, I must run. Heroes have to always fight villains and time itself!" All Might proclaimed.

If anyone later asked why Izuku did what he did, he wouldn't be able to answer. It was the most stupid, reckless, pointless, dangerous, suicidal action possible. He grabbed All Might's leg just as the hero launched into the air.

"Hm… the drag is higher than usual…" All Might noted while drifting through the air. He looked back, only to see the boy he rescued clinging to his pants. "Gah! Let go this instant!"

"And die?!" Izuku cried out, terrified. That was not a good idea. That was a very bad idea. Why the heck did he think that up?

"Good point." The hero sheepishly confirmed before landing on the nearest rooftop. "You can knock on the doors. Someone's bound to let you in soon." Steam started to pour from All Might, which didn't evade Izuku.

"Wait. I need to ask you a question!" The boy begged.

"I really don't…" All Might was interrupted as his body suddenly deflated. "Fuck." He cursed in English. "You can't tell anyone!" He immediately begged.

"Fine." Izuku's gaze hardened. "But you will answer my question. Honestly."

"That is… acceptable."

"Do you ever feel bad about killing him?" A cold expression marred Midoriya's face.

"Killing who?" Toshinori was confused.

"My father. Do you ever regret it?"

All Might expected many questions from the supposed fan, but not this.

"Uh… I'm sorry, but I do not know who your father is." He felt bad for this, but in his line of work sometimes casualties happened. HPSC always ensured the public didn't hear about it or reported it as an accident. The sad truth was that some villains couldn't be brought in alive.

Izuku didn't answer immediately, only stared at the number one hero. It made Toshinori uncomfortable. He tried to look at the kid. He had a feeling he had seen him somewhere. But…

The realization suddenly hit him like a speeding train. Those cold eyes. That expression…

"All For One was your father."

"Midoriya Hisashi was my father. All For One is just a name of his quirk. But that's all he was to you, isn't it? Another villain to defeat."

"You don't understand. He was a monster. For the love of quirks, he killed thousands the day he attacked Might Tower."

"Don't act high and mighty, you bastard. That sidekick of yours and the old fucks invaded our home earlier that day." Izuku spat at All Might's feet. "They killed my mother. They killed his wife.

"It was an accident." Toshinori tried to defend, but he lost conviction long ago. Gran and Mirai to this day considered it a major success that brought down the Emperor of Villains. They also rescued Tenko from the villain's clutches. Young Shimura was determined to have been de-aged somehow to hide his real identity, but Gran recognized him anyway.

"Dad was in pain. He just lost his entire family again. He was grieving. And yet, you executed him in cold blood."

All Might froze. That detail was not public. The boy had no right to know how the battle ended. There were no media present for the final moments. Izuku saw that.

"Surprised? The Commission might be good at covering things, but they aren't infallible. The recording exists and is sometimes shared in certain circles. I've seen it. He was kneeling. Crying. My father was a broken man. You didn't need to kill him. You chose to execute him there and then!"

"He would've gotten out." Toshinori defended. "He would've escaped and hurt more people."

"You took away my father! I had to fight for survival for the last five years because of you!" Black and green lightning started to dance around Midoriya. "You've stolen everything from me!"

Before All Might could react, the energy slammed into his chest, causing him momentary a great deal of pain before everything went dark.

-Pro-

Izuku didn't understand what was going on. He was standing in some empty void. There was nothing around.

"You shouldn't be here." A disembodied voice called.

"You shouldn't exist!" Another voice declared, making Izuku jump.

"You shouldn't be here!" Several voices intoned from various directions.

A young man formed before Izuku. He had shoulder-long white hair and familiar red eyes.

"U-Uncle Yoichi?" The boy stammered. He remembered seeing photos of his late uncle when he was younger.

"I never wanted my fight with Hisashi to turn into this…" The man said more to himself than to Izuku. "You shouldn't be here, Nephew. It is still not too late for you. You don't need to do this to yourself. Or others."

Before Izuku could answer or even react, Yoichi touched his forehead and the boy found himself falling into a bottomless hole, spinning faster and faster.

-Pro-

Izuku's eyes snapped. He was still on the rooftop. On the opposite side, All Might was slowly waking up.

"Wha… You!" The Hero jumped on his feet before suddenly starting to cough blood. "You tried to steal my quirk!"

"Yes. You don't deserve to be a hero. You're nothing but another government lap dog. You hide behind being a hero while in reality, you are no better than Mudface. The only difference is that he dirties his hands while you are a poster boy for the HPSC."

"What… What was that? And why did I hear my master in there?"

"So you've seen it too?" Izuku piped up. He thought that it was just some fever dream, but if not… "You have uncle Yoichi's quirk! The stolen quirk!"

"One for All, the sacred torch passed from generation to generation of great Heroes. It was the only power that could match All For One's unstoppable force."

Izuku looked at All Might like he was mental. That man seriously decided to give a speech in the middle of it all?

"Well… Uh…" Clearly, Toshinori was not used to people despising him.

"You never answered my question. Do you regret it?"

For a moment, All Might was silent. He honestly wanted to regret it. Looking at that boy, hearing how he grew up… seeing the anger inside him… "No." But he couldn't. There was no space for regret because he knew that that one act saved tens of thousands more

"I see… Thank you for clearing that up." Izuku wasn't angry. Honestly, he expected it. Hearing it though made it all the more real. At least now there was no need for doubt. "Tell Uncle Yoichi dad always regretted how things turned out too."

With that, Izuku took a step back and slipped over the edge of the rooftop. All Might dashed after him, only to not see anything. People below were going about their day like nothing happened. Izuku Midoriya simply vanished.

With a heavy heart, Toshinori pulled out his phone. After dialing the number, he waited there, anxiety steadily growing. Finally, someone picked on the other side. "Mirai? I need to speak with you. Please come to the U.A. as soon as possible. It's an emergency. And grab Gran. We're about to have a big problem."

-Pro-

Izuku didn't use Rift to escape All Might. It would've pinged some sensors. The longer he remained off the grid, the better. Instead, he utilized the mind-numbing power of Fold's fourth dimension to turn his fall into a pleasant stroll down the side of the building. The quirk's additional effect was apparently that he was easily able to orient himself in the four dimensions.

When he got to the ground, the reality returned to simple three dimensions and he started to stroll through the streets, enjoying the temporary peace.

Not far from their hideout, an explosion sounded. Izuku's blood froze. It was dangerously close to where Himiko and Hitoshi were to meet him. His mind already started conjuring the worst-case scenario. His friends captured and killed just to get back at him. Finding their mutilated bodies as he fell into a trap…

A crowd gathered near an entrance to a side street. Izuku still had a good distance to run before he would arrive at the hideout, but the explosions were coming from here. With a small dose of relief, Izuku tried to get a small peek at what was happening.

Mudface was free and trying to take control of someone else. His victim was fighting back with explosions.

EXPLOSION!

"Kaachan!"

"Ah! I knew the villain would arrive." The sludge laughed. "Now come here peacefully and I'll let the brat go."

The change of pressure caused the clouds to gather. Rain slowly fell on the now devastated street.

No one dared to speak. People stared at the boy with bewilderment and the heroes were too afraid to even approach him.

Among the silent chaos, Katsuki slowly managed to stand up and take a good look at his supposed savior. He was about to start screaming about how he didn't need rescuing, but the words died in his throat when he saw who was standing before him. The white hair was something new, but those eyes were unmistakable. They haunted Bakugou for the last five years.

"Deku…" He whisper-shouted. It was as if he was afraid that if he was too loud, the person before him would vanish.

"Hi, Kaachan." That bastard dared to give him a tentative smile before running away. Katsuki tried to chase him, but when he turned the corner there was nothing there.

-Pro-

Kurogiri was calmly cleaning several glasses while the TV ran nearby. A kids' show with those overtly cute characters showing the power of friendship. The barman did his best to pretend it wasn't on.

Doors suddenly opened.

"We're closed. Come back later." Kurogiri said before even looking at the newcomer. When he did, the glass he was holding fell from his hand and crashed on the floor.

The remote control floated and the TV turned off.

"Who're you?" a disembodied female voice spoke.

"My prince! You're here!" The awe in Kurogiri's voice threw the girl off.

"Huh?"

"Hello to you too, Kurogiri. It's been too long."

"Indeed, My Prince. Your father…"

"I miss him too," Izuku spoke interrupting the man.

"Indeed." There were no emotions behind Kurogiri's voice.

"What!?"

"For the last five years, we tried to find you to no success. These last eighteen months we did our best to chase after you, but you avoided our men just as well as those heroes." Kurogiri slowly approached the boy and offered a hug, which Izuku happily accepted. The mist man was his father's most faithful follower and Hisashi sometimes even referred to him as a friend. For the first time in five years, Izuku started to feel safe.

"So… I don't need to stab him?" a floating knife behind the boy asked and Midoriya jumped, delivering a punch on instinct.

His fist connected with something soft and warm right before the said soft and warm thing was sent flying, crashing into the wall and leaving a human-shaped crater. Female-shaped crater, Izuku noted absentmindedly.

"Uh… no stabbing. Got it." She moaned.

"Midoriya Izuku. You… you have a quirk."

Instead of verbally answering, Izuku created a small flame above his hand, then made a diagonal cut that created a white rift, from which two more people stepped. Himiko held two knives of her own and Hitoshi had brass knuckles on.

"It's okay guys, Kurogiri is a friend."

"Did you have to hit so hard?" came a voice from the wall where the human-shaped dent started to rustle. "I think I might actually be stuck…"

Izuku just extended his hand and the invisible girl floated back to the ground. Well, the girl-shaped cloud of dust floated and they could only suspect she did too.

"Cool. What's your quirk?" She asked when he set her down finally.

"I can take quirks and use them." He could do more, but while Izuku would trust Kurogiri with his life, he had no such reservations over that… whoever she was.

"Just like Hisashi." The mist man confirmed. "So the rumors were true." As Izuku looked confused, Kurogiri decided to clarify. "For the last eighteen months, we've been chasing the tale of a boy with white hair and multiple quirks. We had hoped it was you, my Prince."

"Hey, Kurogiri, why do you keep calling him 'prince'? It creeps me out a bit."

"Midoriya Izuku is the son of All For One himself and proper respect is due, Hagakure Toru." The man scolded the invisible girl.

"Geez. No need to go all teach on me."

"Well, I always knew my Izu-Kun is royalty. His blood is the greatest!" Toga smiled dreamily and looked at the boy who just smiled at her antics. "It's so pretty too!"

"There is one other person who wishes to speak with you, Midoriya Izuku…" Kurogiri offered, opening a portal.

-Pro-

The sun was already setting when a portal opened on a graveyard. A lone figure in a black hoodie walked out in front of an unassuming grave.

"I knew you would come here. You wouldn't be yourself if you didn't." A voice startled Izuku, who turned around searching for threats. Instead, he found Bakugou. "Heh. So it is you."

"Kaachan." Midoriya froze. He didn't know how to react. It wasn't an interaction he was prepared for. Finally, he smiled. "How did you find me."

"If you were really Deku, you wouldn't skip town without at least visiting your parent's grave."

"You were always so smart. It's nice to see you." Izuku looked at his friend.

"That's all you have to say, fucker!?" Katsuki roared. "Five years we thought you were dead! We mourned you! After that… when… You bastard! You were alive all this time and didn't even tell us!?"

"I'm sorry… Katsuki. But I couldn't. I was scared they would find me."

"Who. Who the fuck scared you so much that you hid from us? The hag would've taken you in without a doubt. Heck. If I knew…" Voice froze in Bakugou's throat. "If… Fuck this shit. Tell me why!"

"The heroes. Two heroes invaded our home and killed mom. They've taken Tomura. Then, All Might killed my dad almost on live TV when he tried to get some justice." Bakugou stared at Izuku, who just started to cry. "I couldn't endanger anyone else. I was afraid they would come after me next. I couldn't let you all die because I stayed with you. Auntie Mitsuki and uncle Masaru didn't deserve it. I… I…"

Katsuki slapped him. "Shut up you stupid nerd! Who gave you that choice! We mourned you! We thought you died with auntie. When the police came, the old hag snapped at them so hard they still avoid our house. I was sure I killed you…" He whispered the last sentence, but Izuku caught it nonetheless.

"Wha- You didn't kill me. I ran."

"Are you mental? You came to us and I screamed at you. I was the reason you didn't stay! I was so sure I killed you..."

"Kaachan." Izuku sniffed. "You didn't kill me. You probably saved your parents and yourself. The HPSC wants me dead. My dad was the 'Emperor of Villains'. I have a quirk like his." He confessed, which made Bakugou take a step back in shock. "They've been trying to kill me for the last eighteen months, ever since they found me. It's only because I've been on the run that I'm still alive. Hell, that sludge guy? He was an underground hero sent to dispose of me and my friends."

"But the HPSC helps heroes. They protect people!"

"They protect the Status Quo, which my father… which my parents opposed. My very existence is a threat to them."

"So what? You'll just keep running all your life?"

"You'll be a great hero one day, Kaachan. Me? It's like you've always said. I can't be a hero. I'll just have to be a villain instead."

"What the fuck?"

"Goodbye, Kaachan. Good luck."

With that, Midoriya took a step back into a black warp gate that opened behind his back.
