Hello guys! So this was just something I had to write down. So, one thing I noticed about Kids Next Door when I watched was that everyone always acted like teens were just mini adults who couldn't wait to grow up. Speaking as someone who has lived through being a teen, I can safely say it's nothing like that. Sure, we enjoyed a lot more freedom, like being able to drive, but I can safely say that none of my friends or me were in any hurry to grow up. So I decided to fix that by writing a story from the point of view of the Delightful Children! Hope you all enjoy it!

TRIGGER WARNING: UNDER AGED DRINKING

High school seemed like a dream.

To the Delightful Children From Down The Lane, any step closer they got to adulthood was a dream. Well, they couldn't really be called children anymore. But it's hard to shake a title. And even better? Their annoying weaker halves in the form of Sector Z had been split from them years ago. They were free to enjoy adulthood! Middle school had been fun, but considering that you aren't thirteen until 8th Grade, it wasn't as much fun. And the best part? All those miserable Kids Next Doofuses would start acting like adults without even realizing that they used to fight against it.

So when did the nightmare start?

The first part would be just how much they underestimated their classmate's maturity level. As it turns out, teens were even more immature than kids sometimes. They couldn't remember how much they had rolled their eyes at some of their classmate's antics. Wallabee Beatles was a repeat offender.

And the noise.

High schoolers were NOISY! It seemed like the only place in the school where anyone could get some peace and quiet was the library. And even then, that only made it the perfect place for couples. The Delightfuls gagged at the thought. Father didn't need to date and neither did they!

Another major problem was the popularity food chain. As it turns out, most students didn't like the know-it-all cheating teacher's pets. So the Delightfuls had to get used to dodging food during lunch (they refused to eat anywhere but the cafeteria. It was there for eating so why bother sitting anywhere else?), but that part alone didn't bother them. After all, they had never been popular in school. What did was that several EX-KND operatives were sitting high at the top of the food chain. Their blood boiled as they thought about everything their old enemies did to get that high up.

Wallabee Beatles and Patton Drilovsky were the top football players on the team. While Wally still needed some help with his grades, just about every teacher was willing to help since he was the one who brought the team to the states.

Kuki Sanban was the pretty cheerleader who practically got a free ride to the top of the chain by simply declaring herself to be Beatles's girlfriend. Helps that her kind nature made making friends rather easy for her.

They weren't completely sure how Abigail Lincoln became popular. It admittedly just seemed like she just did. Almost everyone in the school liked her, simply because she seemed to radiate cool.

Hoagie Gilligan was the strangest to become popular. But then again, he had become slimmer and anyone who could repair bikes was always someone who you wanted on your good side. And since most of his friends were already popular, it most likely was just him riding on their coattails.

Francine Fulbright was one of the toughest sports girls in school, being one of the best players on the girls soccer, volleyball and lacrosse teams. She took no nonsense from anyone, especially boys and had personally beat up

Rachel McKenzie had turned her leadership skills towards student government, being the easy victor of president almost every year. The Delightfuls had tried to run against her one year, but as it turns out, most people highly preferred a live DJ at the school dances to longer school hours. She was also a sports captain, often playing on the same teams as Fulbright and running them just as well as the student government.

Then there was Nigel.

The Delightfuls felt their blood boil as they thought about how good their cousin had it. First, his hair had begun to grow back when he hit puberty. He let it get long (most likely to enjoy simply having it again) and the girls swooned over him and his stupid ponytail. But he only had eyes for Rachel. The two were madly in love, to the point where a lot of students had assumed they were going to get married as soon as college was over. All and all, Nigel was easily one of the most popular students in Gallagher High.

So in other words, their cousin had everything that they should have.

The one small victory they could have gotten over him-him or one of his friends joining the Teen Ninjas-was quickly dashed when they learned that many teens only thought of Father's little army as a quick way to make money and there were easier ways to do that.

The sound of cheers caught the Delightfuls's attention as they continued their walk around town. They had hoped to clear their heads, but it was clear faith had other plans. It was Nigel's house and they didn't even have to look to tell there was a party going on. Walking closer, they noticed that a makeshift stage had been set up. Nigel, Hoagie, Wallabee and Patton were performing. How could the Delighfuls forget about "Never Die Young"? Nigel's parents never stopped gushing about that stupid band to Father. As they got closer, they could hear Nigel's smooth voice.

"That God blessed the broken road~That led me straight to you…" He sang, slowly getting to his knees to allow Rachel to caress his face, before the duo shared a kiss to cheers. Once they broke apart, Nigel stepped off the stage, soon joined by his friends.

"Hey, Nigel!" Another classmate asked. "What's the deal with those weirdo cousins of yours?"

Nigel let out a mocking laugh. "What about them? If you ask me, it's like they came out of the womb as suck ups!" The crowd laughed. It was then that the Delightfuls realized who that classmate was-Bruce, one of their old "hosts".

"Yeah, but do you even like them? I mean, all they do is mope about how we should all be growing up already and try to get the teachers to do the most ridiculous things!" David, another ex-"host" chimed in.

Nigel took a second to think. "I mean, I really don't know. I feel like they could be cool if they weren't so annoying...but I also know that my uncle is a big reason for the way they act."

"God, way to bring the mood down!" Patton called out.

"Well, Abby's got a little something that's gonna bring it right back up!" Abby declared as she pulled two boxes of beer out from behind her back. "Compliments from Cree!" The teens all cheered and rushed for the boxes.

"So why did we hate Cree when we were kids again?" Fanny asked as she began to down the bottle.

"Hey, she hated us too," Abby reminded her.

"Well, Hoagie liked her a little too much," Nigel joked. Everyone could see the dark look in his eyes.

"Well, I know now who the hotter Lincoln sister is," Hoagie replied as she slung his arm around Abby, who just rolled her eyes.

"Oooo! Oooo! Can I do one of those toast things?" Kuki asked.

"Go for it," Nigel replied.

"To never growing up!" Kuki declared.

"TO NEVER GROWING UP!" The rest of the party agreed as everyone raised their drinks. The Delightfuls took that chance to slink away. Maybe they grew up too fast….

So just to clear a few things up.

Kuki and Wally and Fanny and Patton are dating too, I just couldn't fit them in.

Everyone is in the TND. The Delightfuls just don't know that.

The song Nigel was singing was Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts.

Okay, so now that that's all out of the way, what do you all think? I hope you all liked long haired Nigel. It's a personal headcanon I have that if he ever gets his hair back, he grows it out really long. Yes, Rachel loves playing with it. Anyways, see you next time and if you liked this, check out my other stories!
