A/N: Hey everyone! Sorry for the painfully long wait for a new chapter. I got caught up in several distractions, most recently, my family and I tested positive for the virus, so our health and safety goes before this. I also had to catch up on a few other things outside of this website, but now everything has come to pass, and I should be back on schedule. From now on I'm going to be typing out three chapters before I release one so there won't be any painstakingly long waits for any new chapters. Again, apologies for the wait, I hope you enjoy this latest chapter!
(Chapter 4: The attack at the Inner Sanctum)
(Location: Monster Island)
Ilene Andrews was horrified at what Alan Jonah and his ERR troops done to the Iwi Village, so often did she visit this place. She had gotten to know several of them by name, and was on good terms with their leader in Aaron Brooks. Having a good relationship with Aaron's father as well, she told him stories of his son, who he so wished to see again.
Old friends, mothers, fathers, and lovers, even children, all were robbed of their lives in a ruthless massacre. Blood soaked the grounds of the village as a deafening silence had fallen upon a once sacred place. The linguist shook her head in disbelief as she struggled to hold back tears upon witnessing the corpse of Aaron Brooks laying on the ground, eyes wide open, blood all over his chest starting from his mouth. A puddle of blood near his head.
The ERR had shown no mercy, not only was there blood, but brain matter, and fragments of shattered bones caked in blood were laying about the place as well. Several of the huts had been burned down, leaving only a few standing.
The wall on the other side of the village had been blown apart, indicating that following the slaughter, they managed to sneak away into the jungle. Dr. Andrews took in a deep breath as she tried to remain calm, knowing that those bastards were still somewhere on this island.
She eventually noticed the large abandoned ship known as the Wanderer, thankfully no damage had been done to it. At least those cruel men were smart enough to not try and gun down a ship that was several times their size, the linguist decided to investigate the inside of it, inwhich the Iwi had turned it into a worship location for Kong.
No damage seemed to have been dealt to the worship grounds, but she did hear something...it sounded like the sobbing of a small child, a little girl.
"Hello?!" Dr. Andrews called out, but she didn't get a proper response, the girl continued to weep somewhere that she couldn't see.
The linguist slowly followed the sound towards the wooden shrine with the image of Kong painted on it, but she still couldn't see who was crying.
The little girl noticed a shadow coming from behind her, and she slowly took a peek out from behind the shrine to see who it was. She had seen that it was only one person, and it had a feminine look to it, the deaf child didn't recall seeing any female soldiers among Alan Jonah's group.
To the little girl's relief, it was a person she had seen before, but never really had the chance to speak to. She didn't appear to be malicious like the others, but she too had seemed afraid, and confused.
"What is your name? Are you alright?" Dr. Andrews asked, but the child started to speak in sign language to which she could understand.
I'm deaf The child signed, but she was also able to read lips.
I am Jia The child continued, revealing her name to the linguist.
I'm Dr. Andrews, I've come here looking for any survivors, and to assess the damage Dr. Andrews signed in response to the young girl, gently wiping away a tear in which was streaming down her face.
I'm scared, I don't know what is happening Jia signed.
I feel the same, come with me, I'll take you somewhere safe Dr. Andrews tried to tell the deaf girl, but she wasn't too sure about trusting her.
How do I know you aren't here to lure me to my death? Those evil men could still be around. Jia signed as she slowly backed away from Dr. Andrews.
Ilene grabbed hold of something within a pocket on her shirt, revealing a Monarch badge to the little girl. Jia had learned of Monarch through Aaron Brooks, who he himself had to learn sign language of the Iwi to tell Jia of where he came from. It was a relief to see that Dr. Andrews wasn't working with the ERR, the Monarch symbol on the badge of the linguist was almost comforting to see.
I'll come along, please keep me safe Jia pleaded as she signed, her face was filled with despair, and sorrow that made Dr. Andrews feel sorry at the miserable situation that this poor young child had found herself in.
Keep your eyes shut, try not to look at the ground Dr. Andrews signed as Jia approached her, allowing the linguist to pick her up and carry her away from the now destroyed Iwi Village.
(Location: Outpost 04, 'Inner Sanctum')
It had been several hours since the arrest of Maia Simmons, and Steve Martin had been made. Kong's DNA was safely kept within one of the labs, one floor up from the prison wing of the outpost.
Maia Simmons slowly awoke to the sound of a light buzzing over her head as she sat in a chair within an empty room, Steve Martin had been placed in another room. The room was mostly just a gray hollowed out block with a window, and a light hanging on the room that flickered from time to time. At her front sat a table, the smuggler began to realize that she had been put in an interrogation room.
"Dammit." She groaned, realizing that she had failed her mission to traffic Kong's DNA back to the Apex base in Seattle, Washington where her father awaits. A person outside of the room had been waiting for her to wake up, it was Laura Belinsky while Kenny was questioning Steve Martin.
"Well well, Laura Belinsky. I thought I could have avoided you on the road..." Maia growled weakly as she saw the blonde enter, who took a seat on the other side of the table. She was wearing a white sleeveless shirt, and black pants, as well as black shoes.
"Spare me the trash talk, Simmons. What were you doing with the DNA of Titanus Kong?" Laura asked sternly, casting a cold glare into the eyes of Maia, who wasn't intimidated in the slightest.
Meanwhile in another room, Kenny was interrogating Steve Martin, asking him the same questions.
"Haven't you heard? Titan DNA trafficking is a thing now, it's like dealing drugs almost. Pharmaceutical companies are wanting in on these creatures, and their abilities. Can you imagine how cool it would be to have one of these things as a pet?" Steve Martin explained to Kenny.
"It would most certainly not be cool, I cannot imagine having as many titans on this planet that there is dogs and cats. That is an apocalypse waiting to happen." Kenny replied assertively.
"Why Kong's DNA of all things?" Laura would ask Maia.
"We're trying to revitalize his kind, Kong is the only one that remains, and he isn't getting any younger. Best start now before it gets too late." Maia said, but Laura wasn't buying her lie.
"That's bullshit, you're trying to create an army of Kong's to try and take us out, aren't you?" Laura growled.
There was a silence in the room of Steve Martin and Kenny Anderson, and it would be the smuggler who would end up breaking it.
"Ever heard of the concept of titan armor, perhaps?" The criminal asked his interrogator, who shook his head.
"It's certainly not something new, if you look back into the ancient history. People supplied the beasts with god sized ar-" Before Steve Martin could explain what titan armor was or is going to be, the room suddenly shook violently for around fifteen seconds.
"What the hell was that?" Kenny asked himself, Steve Martin chuckled at his concern.
"Beats me."
"I didn't ask for your input jackass!" He screamed as he stood up from the chair, starting to leave the room when another Earth shattering rumbling occurred that knocked him down!
The light above the two of them flickered into a red coloring, filling the entire room with a dim crimson shade. The alarm was blaring over the intercom, someone or something was attacking the base.
"Titan alert, code red." A feminine monotone voice warned over the intercom, she would repeat this warning over and over again.
"Okay, we get it!" Kenny screamed as he pulled himself up with a grunt, leaving the room to see several soldiers rushing to their battles stations to combat against the titan that was attacking the outpost.
"What the hell is going on?!" Laura screamed as she emerged from the interrogation room, there was no response given.
"Must be a titan attack, we must move to our stations, move!" Kenny boomed towards Laura, but then there was another large vibration that shook the entire hallway for around a solid thirty seconds, knocking equipment over, a light collapsed, the glass shattered, creating a small flame that a soldier was caught in the blaze from.
When the rumbling stopped, it wasn't over, the loudest of the tremblings occurred when it seemed like the entire ceiling above them collapsed with a thunderous roar. Laura, and Kenny both fell over into the interrogation room. Several soldiers had been crushed under the rubble out in the hall, but many remained alive. The two of them could hear the troops screaming orders towards one another as they frantically went to their stations to defend against this titan.
"Most guarded Monarch facility my ass!" Maia Simmons shouted, Laura turned towards her with a hateful look displayed on her face. Her crimson painted lips forming a snarl.
"Shut the hell up!" The blonde cried out before trying to open the door only to realize that it wouldn't budge, it wasn't locked either. The rubble on the other side must be keeping it shut, and there was no way that they could possibly force it open either.
"Damn thing is jammed!" Kenny screamed furiously as he would then go on to slam his tightly clenched fist into the door, Laura began to cough as smoke started to fill up the room from above. A hole had been put in the ceiling, both from a fire that had been started in the floor above them, and simply from the collapse alone. A hill of rubble had been created, which Laura began to scramble up on to get to the floor above them, and to make her way through the smoke as best as she could with Kenny struggling to follow behind her.
"Where are you idiots going?!" Maia cried out, noticing that they were leaving her in the room.
"Making sure you don't get away." Kenny coughed out as his boots were seen vanishing into the smoke.
The Inner Sanctum appeared to be a mere military base on the outside, but underground was a massive complex of several wings. Laboratories, prison blocks, training facilities for the soldiers, and several other rooms. It would even extend to a large tunnel that would lead out into the Pacific Ocean, where the top secret items were held with the highest of security measures.
Two fighter jets were returning from an overwater navigation training flight, as they started to drop altitude. They could see just what was happening, a large cloud of smoke was rising from the ground, a large hole had been put in the ground from some type of titan. Firing forth from the blackened cloud was an orange ray that resembled a column of fire, the heat ray swept away tanks with ease, and incinerated the infantry that were firing within the smoke.
A tower had a spinning maser cannon mounted on the top, firing upon the titan within the smoke. The cockpit window of the fighter jets rattled as the beast roared within the smoke, and then the pilots managed to get a good view of the monster that had started to attack out of nowhere.
The titan seemed to be of a smaller size, and it seemed to prefer to crawl on all fours. It had thick, reddish brown hide. A single horn stuck out from it's head which followed by several backwards facing spikes on the back of it's head, slowly going down to the base of the neck. It had large floppy ears that seemed similar to the shape of elephant's ears, but they appeared to be made of a boney chitin type material, having a rocky appearance.
The beast looked vicious, and predatory. It's mouth seemed to be in a perpetual snarl, it's large fangs always being bared. It's head was large, the neck was short. The back appeared to have armored ridges similar to Yongary's back. It's arms, and legs were large, and muscular, particularly the frontal arms. The hands of this creature were large, and long claws extended out from it's fingers, looking similar to the paws of a star nosed mole.
Monarch had no records of this creature, nor did the Earth's Rightful Rulers, or Apex, or even the now defunct Red Bamboo. However, to the people of the Hollow Earth, this beast was known as Baragon.
Now the subterranean titan was charging towards the control tower of the military base, it's intentions on ramming it's horn through it so the maser weapon mounted at the top could be destroyed or ruined.
An immense amount of pain surged through the left eye of Baragon, causing him to roar in agony. His large hand pawing at where his left eye had been shot out by a missile from above. The pain was almost immediately replaced by pure rage, he snarled coldly as he turned towards the sky to see a jet rushing down towards him. The beast growled as it's floppy ears flapped over his eyes to shield them from any other oncoming attacks.
What happened next was both scary, and awe inspiring.
Baragon performed a spectacular vertical leap, his large, bulky body quickly launching high into the air. His jaws locking around the fighter jet, the aircraft being blown up due to his monstrous bite force before he would come in for a landing back to the ground, the Earth shaking upon him landing!
As several maser tanks rolled in, taking aim towards the titan with their heat seeking lasers, new tech developed by the Global Defense Force, Baragon had other plans. The subterranean reptilian quickly burrowed beneath the ground, the Earth rumbled as he tunneled a couple hundred feet below the base. The soldiers stood dumbfounded, having no clue of what to do as the titan was beneath them. For it's hulking size, it moved immensely fast.
Then the ground stopped quaking from out of the blue, and everyone stood on edge. The stillness did not last long, for after around a fifteen second wait, several columns of fire suddenly erupted from the ground with great force, including heavy amounts of ash and rock! The columns of fire seemed to spiral like a tornado but they remained stationary. The columns of fire were fifty feet in diameter, and one hundred feet in height. The massive pillars of flames hissed and roared as smoldering rock and sediment came crashing back down to the Earth like a miniature meteor shower descending upon the Inner Sanctum.
Soldiers began to pour out from the underground portion of the base, firing on all cylinders towards the subterranean beast. The bullets did nothing to Baragon but only annoy him further, when would the military learn that conventional weaponry does not harm these things?
Baragon opened up his large jaws again, unleashing another stream of intense heat upon the soldiers and the vehicles they rode in on, turning the tanks and armored vehicles to cinders, and the humans within to ashes.
An operator within the control tower rushed over to a lever on the panel that housed all of the controls to the base. A built in ORCA device had been installed after the battle in Anchorage between Godzilla, Mothra, Battra, and the GigaMoth several years earlier at that point in time. Having been constructed following the revelation that their enemies were using the ORCA to their advantage.
The frantic operator pulled the lever down, and a high frequency sound began to blare. It was so high in tone that humans couldn't hear it, it was like a dog whistle, but for titans. The device seemed to be working on Baragon as he was seen pawing at his large floppy ears, and his reptilian face was shifting around in pain. A large growl of agony came from the subterranean monster as he shook his head around before letting out a furious roar of defiance, turning his head to face the control tower before baring his fangs.
The operator noticed that Baragon had shifted his attentions to the tower, and he would act fast to activate the mounted maser cannon at the top of it. The cannon slowly spun towards the direction of the titan as the large ears covered up his eyes to protect his face, his horn sticking out from between them. It reared up on it's hind legs before going on all fours again, bounding towards the tower at a freakish speed!
The operator remembered the advice one of the troops told him when it came to handling guns, aim for center mass, shoot to kill. This man wasn't an expert on titans, but he hoped the abdomen of this beast was a weak point. He would have to time the charge of the beast perfectly for him to get a precise shot, his heart pounded within his chest like a war drum. He could feel the vibrations on the floor for each footstep the titan took as it continued to charge the tower.
Baragon was being shot at from all angles, but he couldn't give two shits less at this point. All he wanted was to destroy that tower now as a minor goal, then he would destroy whatever was challenging him.
Unbeknownst to the staff, and the soldiers of the Inner Sanctum. Another enemy of theirs had lured Baragon out from the Hollow Earth using an advanced ORCA device that Apex had constructed, a helicopter was flying in from the North, the person sitting in it was none other than Alison Ford.
Alison Ford's parents both worked for Monarch at one point in time, and both of them were tragically killed by the person she looked up to most these days, Alan Jonah. The young blonde woman had figured out Alan Jonah's tragic past at the base, and began to sympathize with him. Alison Ford was also a very important asset to the ERR and Apex, for she had the spirit of Mothra within her.
At the Battle of Anchorage, two of the Shobijin twins, the daughters of Dr. Ling, and Dr. Chen, were both killed when a building had collapsed. One of them giving her life's energy to Alison, which transferred the mystical capabilities of the twins unto Alison. The blonde always had a strange glowing aura when her skin was shown, although it was obscured when she wore clothing. Her blonde hair had a glimmer to it everywhere she went. She also had a secret power, she retained the memory of all Shobijin from years past, and could also transfer her powers onto others similar to how the Shobijin twins did to her many years ago.
She knew that she was working for the wrong side, and she could see that Alan Jonah didn't want this rivalry to go any further. Alison had noticed that he seemed to be getting influenced by Floyd Sanders, who was the right hand man of Alan Jonah, and by all accounts, the more vicious and demented one. She had been conspiring against Floyd for a while at this point, and Alan Jonah was keen on believing her, but he didn't want to betray a person he had taken under his wing many years ago before the world went to Hell in 2019 when Ghidorah was awakened.
Alison's mission was to bail out Maia Simmons, and her partner Steve Martin, and to return them to the Apex lab up North from the state of California. She was also there to confiscate the DNA of Kong from the lab, which was the original plan until it was foiled when the smugglers were arrested.
Meanwhile, Baragon was continuing his approach to the control tower, at this point he was way too close for the operator to handle. The titan reared up on his hind legs, about to drive his large claws through it, this was his cue. The maser cannon was fired to the exposed underbelly of the beast, and it hit right on time! The subterranean menace was thrown to his back with a howl of pain. The hunch that the operator had was correct, the underbelly of this titan was a weak point.
Baragon rolled over onto all fours again, hatefully snarling at the tower. He saw the light of the maser cannon about to charge up for another blast. The operator seen how well it worked against this threat, and he was keen on trying again.
Unfortunately for the operator, he didn't notice a slew of gun fire headed right his way. From out of nowhere, large bullets began to shred through the large window with ease, shattering the glass, and mowing him down on sight. Effectively stopping the maser cannon from being utilized, Baragon took this as a sign that the tower had 'died' and he stopped his assault, turning it back towards the tanks, and other military personnel that was pestering him on the ground.
On the ground, Laura and Kenny emerged from a platform over by the aircraft hangar. Awaiting them was the leader of the G-Team, Captain Douglas Gordon.
Captain Gordon had a history with Monarch, and history of being in the armed forces. The previous leader of the G-Team was Ford Brody, who had been killed a few years back by none other than Floyd Sanders. During the period between Brody's funeral, and Gordon's admission as the leader, Monarch was in complete shambles. Captain Gordon swore to be the one that turned the tide in the underground war between Monarch and it's rival organizations such as the Earth's Rightful Rulers, and Apex, and he swore that he would restore peace to the Earth along with the titans, and that he would do anything to achieve said peace.
"The hell is going on?" Gordon grumbled to the two troops as they emerged from the underground portion of the base, they immediately heard all of the chaos of the other soldiers screaming, the loud gunfire, and the loud growls, and grumbles of Baragon as he laid waste to the ant sized humans that tried to destroy him with their pesky weaponry.
"We don't know, we had those sons of bitches in place for interrogation, and then this happens." Kenny explained, not having a clue of what was happening, and why it was happening.
"This is a titan we've never seen before, and we didn't do jack shit to piss it off. Something tells me that other powers are having a hand in this." Captain Gordon replied sternly as he watched Baragon devastate the troops, and the vehicles they rode in.
It was then that Carson Michaels and Vergil Snow came running to Captain Gordon, these two were picked up by Monarch, and had a rich history involved with them.
Carson Michaels had a father that worked for the police in North Carolina back in the 1980s, his father would encounter the titan known as Gamera, and he saw first hand the battle with Barugon, an invasive threat. Barugon being the MUTO to Gamera's Godzilla, rival species. He was picked up by Monarch a good few years ago when the large bat like titan known as Bagorah arrived on Earth to attack, unleashing a wave of probe bats that slain his father, and he was rescued by a trooper of the G-Team in New York.
Vergil Snow had been closely following titans all of his life, his older brother, Brayden Snow was once the leader of the Skull Squadron. A squadron consisting of highly trained soldiers that were better skilled than those of the ordinary military, having vastly different training regimes, and the way their ranks worked was different as well. These days the Skull Squadron of the past had completely fallen apart, it once consisted of Brayden Snow, Jerome Hunter, Alan Haas, Germaine Noyala, Andy Williams, Kenny Anderson, and Laura Belinsky. Of that lineup, five of them had all vanished or went their separate ways.
Now the people joining the third Skull Squadron, was Carson Michaels, Vergil Snow, Madison Russell, and Sam Brody, the son of Ford Brody. Kenny and Laura were all that remained of the 2nd one, any others that remained of the first one had mysteriously vanished into thin air, they were never seen again following the event in 2020.
Carson Michaels, and Vergil Snow were the ones that hopped on training early. Now at young ages of their early twenties, they were capable of flying fighter jets. Sam Brody and Madison Russell weren't too far behind either in terms of their training.
"The control tower has been breached." Carson Michaels warned, Captain Gordon looked up to see smoke trailing out of the broken window near the top of the tower. Sparks seemed to be flying from the maser cannon mounted at the top, and it was no longer spinning as well.
"Oh for fuck's sake, by what?!" Captain Gordon screamed furiously, taking off his visor cap and slamming it on the polished floor of the aircraft hangar.
"That bitch up there." Vergil Snow warned, pointing to the sky, offering some binoculars to his leader. When Captain Gordon looked to the sky in the direction of which Vergil was pointing, he noticed a black helicopter looking similar to a UH-1 Iroquois chopper from the Vietnam War, the same aircraft that was used to get on Monster Island back in the '73 expedition, which was then known as Skull Island.
On this black chopper, there was two red triangles, the symbol for Apex.
"Oh damn, our fucking enemies are here." Captain Gordon grumbled, watching the aircraft lower into the smoke that was billowing out of the ground.
"Well we can't just sit around!" Kenny barked.
"That I'm aware of, head to the laboratory, make sure this person doesn't get a hold of Kong's DNA. Make sure our prisoners don't get bailed out, Carson, Vergil, get into those fighters and get ready to take off if anything else goes South. Kenny, Laura, the pathway to the prison wing and lab is more than likely blocked off by fire and smoke, take another route to get there. You must move now!" The leader screamed at the top of his lungs, not wanting the enemies of Monarch to get away with their plans, whatever they may be.
"Well what the hell are you gonna do?! There is a titan attacking right now!" Kenny screamed as he looked over his shoulders while following Laura.
"I'm gonna ward it off."
Captain Gordon marched out of the hangar, going out of sight from the others. Carson Michaels, and Vergil Snow stood by the fighter jets in the hangar, watching the chaos of what was going on outside. The military was really trying to hit Baragon hard now, out in full force, but the titan was powering through them with ease. The only weapons that seemed to damage the beast was the ADS technologies, and the maser cannons mounted on the backs of the GDF brand tanks.
Captain Gordon climbed onto a motorcycle that was parked next to the hangar, the engine roared to life as he sped away, taking a 'backroad' behind most of the buildings to keep himself at a safe distance from the enraged titan. As he drove the motorcycle, he could hear the roars of the beast as it laid waste to all of the opposition. He could hear the missiles being launched towards Baragon, and he could also hear them bursting on his thick hide.
Meanwhile, at the prison wing of the outpost. The blades of the chopper in which Alison Ford flew in on had managed to extinguish the smoke, and flames that had started to engulf the wing, as well as the wing above it that had also caught fire, and smoke.
Maia Simmons had passed out due to the amount of smoke that was filling up the interrogation chamber, had Alison arrived just a couple minutes later, she would be dead, as well as Steve Martin. The sound of the rotator blades woke the smugglers up as Alison swiftly freed them of their bonds.
"Alison, boy am I glad to see you!" Steve exclaimed as he watched Maia and Alison free him.
"Don't mention it, where is the monkey's DNA?" The blonde asked.
"It's in the lab, it's the wing above the prison wing. Perhaps we can crawl up this pile of rubble, and find the DNA. It would be safe to assume that they have tried to keep it secured in a safe in the lab, I have no doubts that the safe has been destroyed by the titan." Maia explained, Alison nodded her head as she climbed up the pile of rubble with the smugglers following close behind her.
As initially predicted, the lab room out of several others was totally destroyed. Flames were everywhere, empty vials were all over the floor with titan DNA making the charred marble floor slippery. The safe had been turned over with a massive hole being put in it, Kong's DNA vial was relatively unharmed. Tables in the lab were turned over, and walls were crumbling.
"We got what we needed, let's get moving." Alison said as she quickly took Kong's DNA out of the safe, and darted down the hall back to the interrogation room where she had landed her chopper.
Maia, and Steve climbed into the chopper and fastened themselves to their seats while Alison climbed into the cockpit, and started up the aircraft once more. Within a matter of moments, the UH-1 Iroquois was in the air again, rising higher and higher into the air.
Eventually, Kenny and Laura would finally make it to the lab, checking to see if Kong's DNA was still stored in the safe only to discover that it had been confiscated. They checked the other labs that happened to have the safes in them, but still they resulted in no luck, and they would be burned to ashes if they stayed in these rooms for too long.
"Private Michaels and Private Snow, they have gotten away with the DNA. Shoot that chopper down, I don't care if it even has the DNA. We have several copies of his DNA to spare." Laura told the two young troopers through her transceiver.
Carson and Vergil both nodded their heads towards one another as they climbed into the fighter jet, preparing to take flight as their eyes locked on to the Apex helicopter that was still climbing high into the air as they prepared their aircraft.
Meanwhile, on the far side of the surface level of the base. Captain Gordon was not too far away from the hangar in which housed a secret new weapon, this weapon would easily deter Baragon, or so the captain had hoped.
Even as he heard all of the chaos around him, even though he could smell burning bodies of dead men and women, the putrid strong odor of the smoke. The fuel spilled over the surface level of the outpost, he kept a straight face. It was like nothing could intimidate the captain, he feared nothing but failure. Douglas Gordon never wanted to fail those around him or himself, and he would make damn sure that he didn't fail the world from letting the powers at be destroy it either.
One by one, Carson and Vergil's jets zoomed from the hangar at high velocity, punching out of it as they took to the sky to give chase to Alison Ford and her chopper. Carson evaded getting chomped by Baragon by the skin of his teeth as his jet was almost bit down on as the titan roared, Carson would react to this by yelling as the adrenaline was rushing through his veins following that narrow miss.
"Raptor one, prepare to engage." Carson spoke through his transceiver, narrowing his eyes as he focused on the Apex helicopter, the fighter jets were coming in hot on their target.
"Engaging." Vergil replied as he locked on the chopper, preparing to gun it down as well as Carson. No mercy for their enemies, if that DNA fell into the wrong hands, anything could happen, and nothing good would certainly come out of it.
"We've got company!" Maia exclaimed to the cockpit.
"I'm aware, I'm in control." Alison replied rather calmly, even though two fighter jets were hot on their trail.
"These sons of bitches are about to shoot at us!" Steve screamed as he watched the fighters getting closer to them.
"Fear not." Alison spoke, confusing the smugglers as these jets were gaining on their chopper, and they would without a doubt be opening fire on them any second now.
Then the fighter jets began to fire upon the chopper, but strangely enough, the bullets never connected...
"What the?!" Vergil screamed as he noticed a blue ripple materialize when the bullets should have connected with the helicopter, Carson noticed it too.
"Bullshit, fire the missiles." Carson said, switching from using bullets from the turret guns to the missiles.
The missiles burst from the jets, spiraling towards the helicopter, but it was the same result once more. It was as if a blue shield was around this helicopter, and it was not visible to the human eye. A droning hum was heard coming from the blue shield when the bullets and missiles struck it.
"How is this happening?" Steve Martin asked himself, to which Alison Ford happened to hear, a smirk was on Maia Simmon's face.
"I didn't know you've added my father's tech to this outdated thing!" The smuggler snickered.
"That's the power of Apex, Mr. Martin. Now watch this." Alison explained, with a single press of a button in the cockpit, another hum emitted from the chopper!
The hum was louder, and it rattled the fighter jets that were swooping and diving in after them. The controls seemed to go out of whack, the engines of the jets had stopped roaring as they zoomed through the skies. Now it appeared that the jets were going on a downward spiral towards the ground, prompting Carson and Vergil to quickly eject.
"What the hell was that?" Carson asked through his transceiver following the activation of his parachute.
"Must be some kind of EMP." Vergil replied.
"Not that, what was that blue thing that was protecting the chopper?"
"I'm not sure, we'll be needing to inform Captain Gordon for sure."
Speaking of Captain Gordon, he had finally arrived to said hangar. The downhill struggle against Baragon was continuing, the captain had enough of seeing the soldiers get massacred and turned to ashes by the heat ray of the titan. He entered through a side door, and in the center of the massive hangar is what looked like a massive telescope in which had been hollowed out, strikingly similar to the Hubble Space Telescope.
Captain Gordon climbed up a small ladder to get inside of the weapon to sit within a cockpit, with the pulling of a lever, the hangar doors slowly began to open. Light of the day pouring into the darkness of the hangar. The cockpit of the weapon looked similar to that of a fighter jet or any aircraft at that matter, a control panel with levers, lights, and buttons. In the center of the panel was a center stick that could control the way the weapon aimed, it could only turn left and right, never around. It was also welded to the polished concrete ground of the hangar, so it could only be fired out of the hangar doors unless the hangar around it had been destroyed.
The captain held down a red button that sat at the top of the cannon, this would activate the most powerful shot that this cannon could fire. It worked similar to the GDF maser cannons, the power of the shot can be varied, and the ammunition could be switched with ease. As he held down the button, what sounded like a heartbeat could be heard reverberating all throughout the chamber. The pounding rhythm of the charging cannon continued to grow with speed, and then a hum took it's place.
The inside of the cannon started to glow a teal blue coloring now, the eyes of Captain Douglas narrowed as a red square formed around Baragon. The charging continued to grow louder, and the bright blue glow would only illuminate more and more of the dark hangar. The cannon began to rattle violently, but this was normal as the charged blast was reaching it's maximum power.
"Begone!" Captain Gordon barked as he heard the cue to fire which was a high pitched buzzing that came from the cannon, he released his finger off of the button. What fired forth from the cannon was a massive blue ray that had blue spirals of energy wrapping around it as it rushed towards Baragon.
The GDF had figured out a way to weaponize Godzilla's atomic breath, it was a very complicated process to say the least. This weapon was so powerful that it could engage into a beam lock with the Big G himself, but it was more than likely the cannon would lose due to the King of the Monsters having more room to store his energy.
The beam nailed Baragon to perfection, slamming into his side and shoving him to the ground. The beast howled in agony as his hands immediately began to paw at the ground desperately, his large claws slicing up the asphalt of the runway and the dirt beneath it. Burrowing to get away from the beam as fast as he could, his tail vanishing into the blue mist that was left behind the beam as Captain Gordon aimed the cannon slightly upwards so the beam would now slice through the clouds in the sky.
The attack on the Inner Sanctum was finally over, and now it was time to assess the damage.
