(Chapter 15: Aftermath, epilogue)
(Location: Hollow Earth)
(Five months later)
A temporary Monarch camp had been established in the Hollow Earth, it happened to be situated right near Kong's home at the massive archway with the waterfall. It is something that the mighty ape had allowed them to do.
These humans he knew, these humans had no ill will or desire to cause any harm to him. These were the humans he could trust. Kong believed that he would be able to have a relationship with them as he had with the Iwi before they were mostly wiped out.
Jia couldn't help but notice that something was off about Kong, the massive primate sat on the edge of a cliff on this naturally occurring archway, staring out into what appeared to be a sun with a gloomy expression. Something was bothering him despite everything going for him and in turn, that bothered Jia as well.
The child wandered away from the camp unbeknownst to the personnel working there, approaching her massive hairy friend that she had bonded with.
As Kong sat on the edge, he suddenly had a vision flash through his head of Jia approaching him. He turned around to see that the child was indeed making her way for him, a kind smile spread across the titan's lips, happy to see her.
The towering ape outstretched his arm and opened his hand for her to step on, afterwards, he would raise it up to allow her to sit on his shoulder and stare into the distance with him.
What's wrong? Jia signed, surprisingly, Kong had been learning sign language over the past several months following Mechani-Kong's defeat in Seattle, Washington. Since then, he hadn't been acting his former self, he always seemed lonely despite having several human friends. It had gotten to the point where the ape was even able to formulate small sentences.
Lonesome Kong signed in response with a deep sigh, looking towards the ground. Using his telepathic powers, he would cast a vision of him killing Mechani-Kong to her.
It was then that Jia understood his emotions and why he was feeling the way he was, Kong knew that underneath all of that metallic plating, was another of his kind, probably another slave to the wicked humans, forced to do their bidding, Kong having no choice but to end its life.
Didn't deserve death Kong continued, one of his hands tightening into a fist before he violently slammed it into the cliffside with an anguished growl of regret and frustration, but also a hint of sadness...
Jia looked over her shoulder to see large murals on the stones that Kong had painted using red chalk that he had crafted from a root that he had torn from the ground, cave paintings in a way. The paintings depicted Kong and several of his kind together in blissful harmony, an idea of Kong and the perfect world he pictured.
I don't have them, I don't have family Kong would continue to explain his feelings and his frustrations to his little friend that sat on his shoulder.
Jia sighed but wanted to cheer him up in any way she could. The deaf child hated seeing Kong down in the dumps and sad, she always wanted him to be the mighty courageous hero she looked up to him as.
You have me Jia signed, a single tear ran down Kong's cheek as a slight smile cracked on his saddened face.
(Epilogue)
(Location: Monarch Outpost 04)
"I still cannot believe what went down at that base." Kenny said to Laura as they sat in the room they shared in the barracks.
"It's good to know that you're still here with us, we could have lost you just as we have so many others here." Laura replied sweetly.
"I plan on staying here as long as I can, with you." Kenny said, pointing to her heart, Laura snickered at this.
"Oh stop." She said playfully.
"Hey, lovebirds. Our satellites are picking up something you may want to see." Vergil Snow said unexpectedly while leaning in the doorway.
"Hey! Get out of here, can't you see we're having a moment?!" Kenny snapped, Laura giggled.
"It's all good, we'll be there shortly." Laura replied for Vergil, who nodded his head before walking away into the control room.
The two troops would put on their uniforms and head down the hallway following Vergil's news, something was going on, something important is what it seemed to be.
Everyone was staring up at a large screen, Captain Gordon stood there in his uniform. Wearing his visor cap, another day at the office. Everyone sat in their respective seats as they had all of their attention towards their superior.
"Ladies and gentlemen, our satellites are picking up something large not too far out in space. We've run some scans on it and we've determined that it happens to have a surprising amount of T-Rads to it, eight hundred and sixty to be precise." Captain Gordon explained as they zoomed in on a blurry dark-colored mass, the only thing they could tell is that it had wings.
"So we've got another alien titan headed our way...fucking great..." Kenny groaned in frustration, all of the alien titans have caused them trouble.
"It would seem so, that is why I implore all of you to stay alert and to watch the skies. We could be in for a surprise, I'm hoping it is a good one, but if this new titan is a destroyer, we will do what we must." Captain Gordon replied.
Another extraterrestrial titan was heading their way at full throttle and wasn't slowing down, the question remains though: Will it be benevolent? Or will it be a destroyer?
