Disclaimer: Ben 10 and Resident Evil do not belong to me
Hello everyone, good to see you all again. Work on Bleach: Ultimate Alien is underway but I have had several events happen to me over the months. Back in late April I was in a car accident; nobody was hurt but both cars involved were completely totaled. Then in mid June my family and I went to Ohio to scatter the ashes of my grandmother. While it was good to see my relatives again, I was sick for the first half of the trip so I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I could have. And I'm not just talking about stuffed noses and sore throats either. I was suffering from muscle weakness: every time I coughed my body felt like my nerves were on fire and it hurt to even move in that state. Ugh.
But during my time in Ohio, once I started feeling better, I developed an interest in Resident Evil: Village. While I understand people have been mixed about the game, I enjoy it for its gothic horror aspect, mysterious atmosphere, plus some intriguing characters. My two main favorites are the Duke and Heisenberg. Well, when I was working on Bleach: Ultimate Alien I was suddenly wondering what it would be like to see a crossover with Ben 10 and Resident Evil.
But I have enough on my plate so I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in writing a crossover between these two franchises. What I've written below is an example of the many possibilities for potential writers. It takes place during Resident Evil: Village and after Ultimate Alien but before Omniverse.
Ben 10: Resident Evil Challenge
Village of Shadows
"So Ben," Gwen said, looking over her shoulder as they drove to Mr. Smoothy's. "How's that new Omnitrix?"
Ben snorted, resting his head on his palm as he eyed said device. "Can you believe it? This thing only lets me use ten of my aliens again."
"Doesn't sound so bad," Kevin said as he kept his eyes on the road. "With how many guys you had before; it'd be embarrassing if we lost a fight because you couldn't find the right one in time."
"Oh that's not all," Ben said, throwing his hands up in mock exasperation. "I also found a recorded message from Azmuth. Not only did he say something along those same lines, he also said if I unlocked any new aliens, some of my old guys will get re-locked in exchange, leaving me stuck with only ten at any time."
That made Kevin wince. "Okay I can understand being annoyed with that. Not quite the arsenal you usually have."
"Don't worry, Ben," Gwen said encouragingly. "You'll eventually become Ben 10,000 anyway."
Ben sighed. "I know, Gwen. It just feels like Azmuth's doing this to mess with me. I mean, he already denied me the Master Control, did he have to go even further?"
"Maybe he just wanted to make sure that, since you got a whole new Omnitrix, you don't forget to use your most important weapon," She reached behind her seat and tapped his head.
"...Headbutting?" The deadpan look Gwen was shooting at him was too much; he grinned playfully at his cousin. "I'm just kidding, Gwen."
"What's going on, Grandpa?" Ben asked as he walked into the room, trying to avoid the various Plumbers as they scrambled from one computer to another.
"We've picked up Forever Knight activity," Grandpa Max explained, staring up at the monitor in front of him.
Ben blinked. "The Forever Knights? I haven't heard from them since the fight with Dagon."
"From what we gathered, the Knights are less than a fraction of their old power since that battle. But there's a possibility the remaining Knights are trying to restore their order."
"Like what? Some hidden cache of leftover alien tech?"
"That we don't know," Max admitted. "All we do know is that they seem to be heading towards a remote village in Eastern Europe. Whatever's there must be important for the Forever Knights to be moving so hastily and sloppy."
"No prob, Grandpa. I'll go in and take them down."
"You sure you don't want me to contact Gwen and Kevin?"
Ben shook his head. "I heard Gwen's doing research on what college she wants to go to and I don't want to interrupt. Besides, Kevin and her deserve a break after what we've been through."
"Ben, are you absolutely sure?"
"Well you did say the Forever Knights were less than a fraction of what they used to be," Ben pointed out with a grin. "I highly doubt they'll give me any trouble."
Ben had just enough time to duck as an axe narrowly avoided the top of his scalp. Rolling out of the way, Ben leaped to his feet and got a good look at his assailant. It was a man in tattered clothes with wild, unkempt hair. His skin looked grey and there was a look of vicious, animalistic savagery on his face. That was all the incentive Ben needed to activate the Omnitrix and slam the dial down. In a flash of green light, Ben became a towering, red skinned humanoid with four muscular arms.
"Four Arms!" the new creature roared, two of his arms punching his open palms.
The wild man did not seem concerned with the boy suddenly turning into a multi-limbed juggernaut. Instead he threw back his head and howled like a wolf. Before Four Arms could comment, he heard snarling in the distance. Turning he looked to see others like the wild man coming towards them.
"There's more of you?" Four Arms groaned as one of them charged, raising his axe. Four Arms easily caught it and threw the man over his head, watching him crash into a snow drift. "Well, guess this needed to be a fair fight."
Oh great!" Ben said as he glared at an all too familiar giant frog. "What are you doing here, Animo?"
"I stumbled upon this little village while looking for new research material," Dr. Animo smirked at his long-time enemy. "When Mother Miranda realized I was a fellow scientist, she happily agreed to collaborate with me in exchange for a fresh perspective on her own work. This...Mold she told me about has infinite possibilities for my own experiments."
Ben groaned. "Maybe I should've brought Gwen and Kevin with me after all."
"Well, well,"
Ben spun around, seeing a figure emerge from the shadows. It was a man wearing a tattered trench coat, a wide brimmed hat, and dark spectacles that covered his eyes. Hefted over his shoulder was a large...hammer? It looked more like a gear shaft in the vague shape of a hammer. But Ben's confusion died when he spotted several scraps of metal rising off the ground and floating around the mysterious man. He reached for the Omnitrix when a piece of metal flew at his hand. The force threw Ben off his feet as he felt his hand pinned to the wall by the metal.
"Ben Tennyson, right?" The man said, puffing a cigar. "I gotta say I'm surprised; I didn't think you were real. Sorry for the rough treatment but I didn't want you going alien on me before I got a word in."
"I'm guessing you're one of the Lords the villagers told me about," Ben said, glaring at the man defiantly despite his predicament.
The man chuckled before giving a flourish bow. "Heisenberg's the name. Karl Heisenberg, at your service. Now then…" He dropped his cigar to the floor, grounded it into powder with his boot, knelt on the ground so that he and Ben were both eye level. Taking off his spectacles, the man's unshaven face broke into a grin. "Why don't you and I talk business?"
"A pleasure to finally meet you, Ben Tennyson."
Ben stared at the rather large man who was sitting in the back of the wagon. His impressive girth made it impossible for his shirt to completely button up all the way. Ben also noticed that the man was completely barefoot, despite the chilly weather, yet he showed no discomfort in it. Hanging on shelves built into the wagon's doors were a variety of objects; strings of garlic, boxes of variable sizes, books, maps, a hunting horn of all things, etc.
"Going out on a limb here but I'm guessing you're the Duke?"
"The very same," The man said jovially with a nod of his head. "The villagers told you about me, I presume?"
"That's right, including how you give them newspapers from outside the village. That's how you've heard of me?"
"Indeed," The Duke replied. "A boy who can turn into alien heroes; not something easily overlooked. I also heard about how you protected the villagers from the Lycans, as well as your encounter with Heisenberg. I believe the arrival of your associates made him realize he has less time than he thought."
Ben's eyes widened.
"I advise you to be very careful when dealing with that one. Heisenberg is the most dangerous out of the Lords and you never know when he might decide you are no longer useful."
"Wouldn't be the first time someone did that," Ben said, crossing his arms.
"With your experience, I quite believe it," the Duke said with a chuckle. "As for me, I have a variety of items I can gladly sell you. One of your capabilities may not need weapons or ammunition like my newest customer, but I have other items I can provide for you; healing salve, food…"
"Newest customer? Animo? One of the Knights?"
The Duke leaned back, his smile suddenly more enigmatic. "Ah, Heisenberg hasn't told you, I see."
"Told me what?"
"Someone else came to the village sometime after you and your rogues did. His name is Ethan Winters and he has come to rescue his daughter Rosemary. In fact, he made his way to castle of Lady Dimitrescu not too long ago."
Ânother Lord of the village; Lady Super-Sized Bitch had been Heisenberg's nickname for her. She was the one he hated the most and vice versa. "His daughter is in there? Why?"
"I believe Mr. Winters himself should be the one to tell you his story. Catch up to him as fast as you can. I supplied him with some of my wares but I fear the poor father could still use some extra help in getting his child back."
Ben clenched his fists, turning to look at the looming castle before him. The darkness and surrounding fog made it the perfect setting for a horror movie. He turned towards the Duke, only to be cut off the moment he opened his mouth.
"You're suspicious of me, just as Mr. Winters was," If he was offended by this, the Duke certainly didn't show it. "Perfectly understandable. As I told Mr. Winters; it's your choice whether or not to trust me. Though I do believe you would benefit with some additional allies. Still, it's your decision; customer is always right after all."
Ben crossed his arms again, raising a brow at the Duke. "The villagers told me how helpful you were to them, but they also mentioned you do businesses with the Lords. What exactly do you get out of this?"
"The satisfaction that I'm providing potential buyers with first rate customer service."
Ben was skeptical, still the villagers had said nothing but good things about the Duke and Heisenberg never even mentioned him, let alone with the venom he had when talking about the Lords. Despite his misgivings Ben decided to give the Duke the benefit of a doubt. "How much for some Healing Salve? Something tells me I'm gonna need it."
"Well...the great Ben Tennyson. So we finally meet."
Ben's jaw threatened to drop as he took in the sight of the Lady Dimitrescu. When Heisenberg called her Lady Super-Sized, he wasn't kidding. She was an extremely tall woman, almost ten feet in height, especially with that black, wide brimmed hat upon her her head. The long dress she wore was white and it matched her eerily pale skin, which Ben suspected wasn't just from lack of sun. In her right hand was a cigarette holder, completing her look of a high class lady from the 30s.
"Those knights told my siblings and I much about you and that interesting watch of yours." Her ruby red lips split into a hungry smile. "I've never tasted alien blood before."
Ben's hand flew to the Omnitrix when he heard a loud buzzing. A bunch of flies swarmed in from one of the open doors and to Ben's shock they formed into three women, all donned in black cloaks and wearing pendants around their necks. One was blonde with a red pendant, the second was brunette with a yellow pendant, and the third was a redhead wearing a green pendant. But what really got Ben's attention was the blood around their mouths as they circled him, giggling and smiling with blood-stained teeth.
"Can we have this one, Mother?" The brunette asked, raising a sickle as she eyed Ben eagerly.
"After you've had your taste of him, of course?" The blonde added, her own hungry eyes looking Ben up and down and certainly not in a good way.
Lady Dimitrescu smiled as she walked towards her daughter, though it was more like taking a couple of steps. "Mother Miranda never said that this young man-thing...
"'Man-thing?'" Ben repeated. "And I thought we were getting along so nicely."
The next thing he knew, Dimitrescu's hand was around his throat and he was hoisted up into the air as if light as a feather. Dimitrescu smiled as Ben struggled to breath, his feet kicking in midair. Her daughters laughed wickedly at the sight as they circled around their mother.
"As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted; Mother Miranda said nothing about him being necessary for the ritual. But before we indulge ourselves girls, I have some questions for our guest first," She pulled Ben closer and and whispered into his ear. "Heisenberg told me he encountered you earlier but you managed to escape him. Let you escape is more likely. I've always doubted that uncouth child's devotion to Mother Miranda and you're going to tell me what I want to know."
"Okay, lady," Ben said, glaring at her. "One: it's hard to talk when you're crushing my throat. Second: you left my arms free."
Dimitrescu only had a moment to widen her eyes before Ben activated the Omnitrix and quickly hit the dial down. Recoiling from the flash of green light, Dimitrescu throw her query away from her. When the light finally faded Ben was gone; in his place stood a humanoid plant monster with a head that looked like a red and orange flame.
"Swampfire!" The Methanosian cried in a nasally voice, taking a fighting stance.
Dimitrescu's eyes narrowed and her lips curled into a sadistic grin. "So this is the power of your watch. I suspect a plant creature such as this has no blood to offer." Then she grimaced, sniffing the air before slightly shuddering. "And such a repugnant stench."
"Hey! First you call me a thing, choke me, and now you make fun of my body odor! That's three strikes and you're out!" Swampfire raised his hands and streams of flame shot out of his palms toward Lady Dimitrescu; her daughters evading the flames by turning into swarms of flies. Lady Dimitrescu herself was unable to dodge out of the way as the flames engulfed her.
The flies reformed into the three girls, who were looking at the flames in horror. "Mother!" They wailed as one.
But when the flames cleared, Swampfire gawked to see that Lady Dimitrescu was completely unharmed by his attack. Her dress wasn't even the slightest bit singed. "What the?!"
Lady Dimitrescu chuckled as she tapped her cigarette holder, the ashes fluttering to the floor. "You didn't think Heisenberg was the only one with gifts, did you?"
Swampfire retook a fighting stance. "I'm just getting started, lady."
"Really?" Lady Dimitrescu threw her cigarette holder to the side as the fingers of her right hand extended into claws. "So am I!" Once again, Dimitrescu's daughter surrounded Swampfire, their sickles raised and their manic laughter filling the room.
The alien hero clenched his fists as he glared at the demented family. "Bring it on!"
End of Example
So the basic premise of this example is, Resident Evil and Ben 10 exist in the same universe. The Forever Knights, trying to reclaim their former glory after the events of Ultimate Alien, discovered letters between their founder, Sir George, and a mysterious woman named Miranda. They headed towards the source of the letters in hopes of finding something useful. Coincidentally, Dr. Animo had, as he said above, been looking for new material. I even considered him having some kind of connection with the scientists of Umbrella. Either way, Animo and the Forever Knights encountered Mother Miranda, who welcomed the Knights into her village out of her past friendship with Sir George while also hoping an extra scientist like Animo could help her with her goals.
Ben, unaware of any of this, thought it would be a quick take down of the Forever Knights, only to uncover something far worse and enter the world of Bio-Organic Weapons.
Now I originally wrote a different and much longer one-shot, but when I showed that version to my friend Vandenbz, he told me it didn't click with him because I was just having Ben take Ethan's place, plus I was having Ben take enemies down nonlethally; not exactly something you do in Resident Evil. My other friend, Pyromania101, also reminded me that Ben had destroyed several evil aliens in the first series and wasn't bothered by it. So as long as Ben understands that he needs to kill the monsters of Resident Evil, there's no problem.
Since the one-shot was just meant to be a demonstration, I hadn't put as much thought into it as I should've. I appreciate Vandenbz and Pyromania pointing those things out to me.
Now like I said, anyone willing to write this crossover can pretty much do whatever they want:
-It can take place during any of the Resident Evil games or Ben 10 series.
-They can be in the same universe or Ben could wind up in the Resident Evil universe due to a dimensional accident. I personally chose to have them in the same universe because I could see some potential in it.
-Ben can have access to any aliens he wants. I personally only limited it to ten in this story because Ben would have easily demolished everyone if he had access to the amount of aliens he had in canon. In case, any of you were wondering, yes I did use the feature from the 2016 reboot where Ben's Omnitrix only allows him to use any ten aliens at a time. I'm not fond of the reboot as a whole but I like Ben having some kind of limiter so he has to make the best with what he's got.
-I...I really don't know how pairings would work but if someone is able to make the pairings work go for it.
Now, I will admit: after reading King Hearts crossovers like I'm Nobody,
A Song of Ice, Fire, and Hearts,
and The Nobody of Ever After High, I wouldn't mind a crossover between Kingdom Hearts and Resident Evil where Sora or Roxas ended up in Resident Evil and have to battle Heartless and B.O.W.s That works fine for me too.
That's all I've got. If anyone is interested in doing this kind of crossover, feel free to PM me. Take care everyone. See you next time.
