Disclaimer: I don't own Mortal Kombat or Overwatch. Mortal Kombat is owned by NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Entertainment. Overwatch is owned by Blizzard Entertainment.
Azure: Chapter three of the Halloween WIB Collections. Reaper and Noob Saibot were both people who worked for a group of people to protect the world, Overwatch and the Lin Kuei, with different names, Sub-Zero and Soldier 74. They both came back as specters of death and enemies of their former allies and friends, and hold a grudge towards their foils, Hanzo Hisashi and Soldier 76. While their former allies would be heroes, they became the very people they fought against. They're also extremely edgy.
-Line Break-
Bryant: There had been many stories where someone came back from the dead. While some of these people became warriors who fight for others-
Thea: Others decide to be edgy!
Bryant: Noob Saibot, the Wraith of Wrath from Mortal Kombat.
Thea: And Reaper, the Talon Operative from Overwatch.
Bryant: I'm Bryant Reese.
Thea: And I'm Thea Price.
Bryant: And we're here to analyse these two fighters and find out who would win, a WI Battle!
-Line Break-
Bryant: The Lin Kuei. A clan filled to the brim with deadly Chinese Assassins. While they lost their honor long ago, their new Grandmaster, Kuai Liang, aka Sub-Zero, restored it and formed an alliance with his former enemy, Hanzo Hisashi.
Thea: But it wasn't easy. These two have a long history, and not just from being from opposite clans. Everything started with Kuai Liang's brother, Bi-Han, who was the one who killed Hanzo, forcing him to become Scorpion, the ninja from hell.
Bryant: Scorpion swore revenge on Bi-Han when learning of the death of his entire family, and slew the cyromancer.
Thea: But it turns out that Bi-Han was kinda innocent, and Scorpion had killed the wrong guy. Oops?
Bryant: When Bi-Han returned through the works of the Demon Sorcerer Quan Chi, he wasn't the same man he was before. Instead, he was the ninja of darkness, Noob Saibot.
Noob Saibot:
-Real Names: Bi-Han
-Age: Unknown
-Height: 6'2"
-Weight: 210 lbs
-Name is based on Ed Boon and John Tobias
-Probably reads Harry Potter
="Who are you, ghost?"
="He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named."
="Go back to your deathly hallow."
Thea: It was cool until you said his name was Noob. Seriously, you have this edgy as heck guy, and you name him Noob. Why not something like "Dark Zero" or, "Absolute Zero"? Or maybe "the Ninja of Darkness who's grasp is like the cold heartless grip of Death"?
Bryant: He was actually named after Ed Boon and John Tobias, the original creators of Mortal Kombat.
Thea: Oh, his name is their last names backwards. I get it. Still lame.
Bryant: Noob Saibot became a servant of Quan Chi, and in turn, Shinnok, the fallen Elder God. However, his loyalty wasn't always to them.
Thea: Noob Saibot is kind of a douche, who wants to be the king of everything. After Quan Chi kicked the bucket, he decided that he would work with Kronika, the Titan of Time, in order to have his own version of the Lin Kuei, made up of spooky shadow people. And if he has that clan, he would be the Grandmaster for sure. He's definitely a dangerous guy. Kinda. In terms of abilities.
Abilities/Arsenal:
-Disabler
-Soul Absorption
-Shadow Clones
-Portals
-Teleportation
-Fireballs
-Martial Arts
=Hapkido
=Pigua Quan
=Monkey-Style Kung Fu
-Weapons
=Kunai Spear
=Scythe
=Sickle
=Hammers
=Ninjakens
=Shuriken
=Axe
Thea: Being a character from a fighting-game, Noob Saibot uses a variety of different martial arts in combat. Oh, I'm sorry. Kombat. His most notable styles are Hapkido, Pigua Quan, and Monkey-Style Kung Fu. Hapkido uses long-ranged leg and hand strikes with joint locks and throws in close-range, focusing in circular motions. Pigua Quan uses explosive long-ranged sweeps by turning the hips and arms for momentum. And Monkey-Style Kung Fu, his primary style, focuses on acrobatics and agility to catch opponents off-guard, leaving them open for follow ups. I'm a bit confused though, where's ninjutsu?
Bryant: Actually, Kuai Liang had gone on record to say that, despite being stealthy assassins, the Lin Kuei are not ninjas, as they are a Chinese Clan with Chinese ideologies and traditions. In contrast, their former rival now turned brother clan, the Shirai Ryu, are Japanese in origin, but simply moved to China, thus making them ninjas.
Thea: Wow, that is dumb. Wait, Dorkly said Sub-Zero was Jewish.
Bryant: They also had Sub-Zero dislike Liu Kang for being chosen just because he's Chinese despite the fact that he's Chinese as well. They focus on comedy, not lore.
Thea: Good point.
Bryant: Anyways, as a being from the NetherRealm, Noob Saibot can utilize his demonic biology for different attacks and techniques. He can throw blue fireballs for long ranged combat. His Disabler is a ghostly energy ball that can stop foes and leave them open for combos. He can create literal shadow clones to aid him in battle. He can boost his abilities by absorbing the souls of dead people. And he can teleport in order to confuse his opponents and catch them off-guard.
Thea: He can also teleport, but it's kinda redundant when he can already teleport. Is what I would've said, if he wasn't from Mortal Kombat.
Fatalities:
-Shadow Spin
-Make A Wish
-As One
-Split Decision
-Double Trouble
-Spine Rip
Thea: His Split Decision Fatality has him use his portals to rip people apart with his sickles by pulling them through two portals at once. His As One Fatality has his opponents go through a portal before he closes the portal, cutting them in half and letting them bleed out on the ground. Brutal.
Bryant: Shadow Spin spins his opponents at such a high speed, their flesh is rendered, leaving just their bones. His Make A Wish Fatality uses his clones to rip his opponents in half like a wishbone.
Thea: My personal favorite is Double Trouble, which is when he impales his opponents with his hand and fills them with dark energy, which turns into a clone and rips them in half from the inside.
Bryant: But his most iconic Fatality is when he rips his opponent's head off, spine included. It was this exact Fatality that he used to murder Scorpion, and one that Scorpion did to him, as implied by his skull and spine being his remains after being killed by Scorpion.
Thea: To quote Johnny Cage… Ouch.
Achievements:
-Kicked down the Statue of Shinnok
-Survived the Soulnado
-Blitz Sonya Blade
-Defeated Scorpion, Fujin, and Quan Chi
Bryant: Noob Saibot has been shown to be comparable to the likes of Quan Chi, considering that he had been able to defeat him in the past. He's defeated Scorpion twice, as well as the four elemental gods, including Fujin, the god of Wind.
Thea: And defeating any of those is no joke. Scorpion got beat by Noob in the NetherRealm, where Scorpion has his powers increased the longer he stays in there. And Quan Chi was able to react to Raiden's lightning!
Bryant: Considering the distance between the two, this puts Quan Chi's reaction speed at around 200 times the speed of sound.
Thea: He's strong enough to kick a person's torso off so hard, their limbs are left behind. He's also survived the Soulnado, which he and Quan Chi worked together to make.
Bryant: Considering the size of the Soulnado and how it created a large crater with little to no debri left over, this means it can potentially deal a damage output of about 42 tons of TNT.
Thea: And remember, he was the original Sub-Zero!
Bryant: As Sub-Zero, he was known for being one of, if not the, cunning of the EarthRealm Warriors, and regarded as one of the most powerful.
Thea: Not bad for a Noob.
Bryant: Noob Saibot is certainly a deadly fighter. But he's not perfect. Far from it.
Weaknesses:
-Lost all of his fights since becoming Noob Saibot
-Despite being a hellspawn, he can be killed by regular weapons
Thea: Noob's name fits. Remember when I said he was only kinda dangerous? That's because he lost every, single, fight after he turned into Noob Saibot. His brother, Kung Lao, Jaqui, Nightwolf, and even Fujin, who he already beat!
Bryant: Mortal Kombat is quite inconsistent when it comes to power levels. What's more, Noob Saibot doesn't share the same kind of immunity that Scorpion has, despite both being from the NetherRealm. While Scorpion can't be killed by ordinary means, Noob Saibot has been killed by regular weapons in other timelines.
Thea: But still, Noob Saibot, while not the best in terms of wins and losses, is definitely one of the most dangerous beings in the world.
Bryant: Hell is his home, and he will always be ready for-
Thea: MOOOORTAAAAL KOMBAAAAATTTT! *begins singing the Mortal Kombat theme*
(Noob Saibot) Death is a shadow!
-Line Break-
Bryant: Overwatch. A group of elite pilots, soldiers, scientists, and doctors. They're dedicated to protecting the world and saving the day from the rogue Omnics.
Thea: They were led by Jack Morrison, aka Soldier 76, and his partner Gabriel Reyes, aka Soldier 74. And they won! The wannabe Skynet takeover was stopped, and Overwatch were seen as heroes.
Bryant: The more outgoing and cool-headed Morrison was put in front as the public leader and hero of Overwatch, while the more deadly and brutal Gabriel was the leader of the Blackwatch, a covert ops version of Overwatch. But a rift formed between Morrison and Reyes.
Thea: Jack and Gabriel began to fight more and more over what should be done in certain situations, and the stress of failures and other infighting didn't help at all.
Bryant: Eventually, Morrison and Reyes had a battle between Reyes' Coup and Morrison's Squad.
Thea: And then BOOM! The Switzerland Overwatch Base blew up, and the two leaders were thought to be dead.
Bryant: Overwatch was disbanded, but the two leaders were actually still alive. Morrison became a ruthless vigilante, attempting to uncover the truth behind the fall of Overwatch.
Thea: While Gabriel became one of the terrorists he spent his career fighting. A member of Talon, a being of death. He was, the Reaper. Now see, that's a badass name.
Reaper:
-Real Name: Gabriel Reyes
-Age: 58
-Height: 6'1"
-Weight: Unknown
-Attack Character
-Probably listens to Evanescence
Bryant: Reyes survived the explosion with the help of Doctor Moira O'Deorain, a member of his Blackwatch crew. But while it saved his life, Reyes described himself as being in constant suffering, as his cells were constantly decaying and regenerating back and forth.
Thea: Like Deadpool, but without the cancer. Wait, is that why he leaks shadows? I just thought that he had a machine that did that for edginess.
Bryant: He is quite edgy.
Thea: He dedicated his life to being a terrorist like the people he targeted, and began to hunt down Overwatch agents all over the globe, leaving them as empty husks. And boy, is he deadly!
Abilities/Arsenal:
-Hellfire Shotguns
-Grenades
-Reaping
-Shadow Step
-Wraith Form
-Death Blossom
Bryant: The Overwatch cast, before the role rearrangement, was broken up into different categories. Reaper belonged to the Attack Category, and is generally considered to be one of the better, if not the best, at being a close ranged character.
Thea: Better than Genji. He's got shurikens for a reason, stop running up to people and trying to melee them. Jackasses.
Bryant: Due to Doctor Moria's experiments, the Reaper can take on his Wraith Form. This allows him to hover and increase his speed, as well as making him invulnerable. His Shadow Step allows him to teleport around the map, allowing him to get to more favorable positions.
Thea: But he's got two really scary abilities. First, is his Reaping Ability.
Bryant: Many Overwatch characters have a Passive Ability, which aren't activated by the player and are instead automatic. Reaper's is quite helpful, as he can heal from damaging others. The more he damages them, the more he heals.
Thea: And combine that with his Death Blossom, and you got one deadly combo in your hands.
Bryant: Every Overwatch character has an Ultimate, which is their ace-in-the hole. Reaper's allows him to empty his guns in all directions, allowing him to fight and even kill entire teams at once.
Thea: Especially if he's up close and in your face. His shotguns, the Hellfire Shotguns, are twin hand-cannons with a wide spread and short-range. That means that if he's up close and personal, you're getting torn down by his guns. And when he runs out, he just, tosses them away? And pulls more out of nowhere? Where do they even come from? And why does he have extra shotgun shells on him if he doesn't even need them? Edginess? You know what, I can buy that. It's a lot better than Widowmaker pulling ammo from her-
Bryant: Thea!
Thea: What, we both saw the video.
Bryant: Lost Pause ruined Widowmaker for us.
Thea: Pretty sure it was the camping.
Bryant: That too. Anyways, it's no wonder that the Reaper terrorized the world alongside his allies in Talon.
Achievements:
-Destroyed large mechs
-Staggered Winston in his Berserk Form
-Can damage foes with heavy armor like Reinhardt
-Matched Soldier 76, Tracer, and Ana Amari
Bryant: The Reaper has been able to stagger and even knock down Winston in his Berserk form.
Thea: Who's a literal gorilla!
Bryant: He's reduced mechs into scraps by himself, and has kept in pace with multiple members of Overwatch.
Thea: Like Tracer, who can dodge sniper rounds from just a couple meters away. Or his old frenemy, Soldier 76, who can outrun a grenade explosion! All to help a little girl with a snatched purse.
Bryant: Considering the distance between Morrison and the girl, as well as the literal split-second he had to cross this distance, this means he had to have been moving at a speed close to Mach 180.
Thea: Which is believable. Genji, who Reaper worked with multiple times, can block the bullets from six Bastions at once! We're talking six gatling guns, and he just blocks them with his blade!
Bryant: Which puts his reaction speed at Mach 150, which supports the calc for Soldier 76's speed.
Thea: Reaper also scales to characters like Wrecking Ball, whose mech can survive re-entry and crashing into the ground at full speed!
Bryant: Considering the size of the mech, assuming a titanium build, factoring hollowness, and accounting for re-entry speed, this comes out to being just under 20 tons of TNT.
Thea: And Reaper can shrug off getting hit at full speed by Wrecking Ball, whose mech can reach those speeds easily! Man, that cute guy made one heck of a mech.
Bryant: Reaper has proven to be a deadly character from Overwatch, but he has his flaws.
Weaknesses:
-Purely close-ranged
-Arrogance
-Ashamed of his scarred face
Thea: Being a close-ranged fighter with shotguns with as big of a spread as his, Reaper relies almost entirely on close-range. If his opponents are too far, he's not hitting anything but air. Which is probably why he often partners with Widowmaker.
Bryant: He's also rather arrogant, often letting his guard down and looking down on the people around him.
Thea: Well he's an edgelord. Arrogance is a given.
Bryant: I suppose he does deserve to be a little arrogant. Reaper still remains as one of the most dangerous men in the world.
(Reaper) Death walks among you.
-Line Break-
Bryant: Alright, the stage is set, time to start this dance.
Thea: Battle ready, set, GO!
-Line Break-
Two dark figures walk through a graveyard. They see each other, they face each other.
"Who are you, ghost?"
"I, am the Reaper."
"Return to your deathly hallow."
"Death comes."
"Death laughs at you."
"Death walks among you."
"Your angel of death awaits."
"I am the angel of death!"
"I will destroy you!"
"You cannot bargain with death!"
Enough with the edgy back and forth! (Credit goes to Scoutthedog1 Animations, check him out, he did this fight too.)
Fight!
Reaper made the first move, pulling out his Hellfire Shotguns and firing them rapidly. Noob Saibot teleported out of the way and behind Reaper. Reaper tried to turn, only to receive a powerful punch to the face. Noob Saibot quickly attacked Reaper with a relentless combo of punches and kicks before uppercuting him into the air. Reaper slammed into the ground with a groan of pain. He got up and dodged a flying kick. He pulled out his shotguns again, but Noob Saibot created and launched a clone at the Reaper. Reaper was caught off-guard again as the clone punched and kicked him before throwing him towards Noob Saibot, who followed up with a quick combo that launched him into the air.
Reaper landed on the ground with a grunt. Another clone shot forwards, sliding across the ground as if on ice. It launched Reaper to his feet, causing him to be punched again and sent flying. He slammed into a tombstone with a pained groan. He looked up and punched the clone, destroying the fragile spectre. Noob Saibot teleported behind him again and tried to punch him like before, only for Reaper to catch the punch. Reaper laughed at Noob Saibot's surprise before punching him through the gravestone.
Noob Saibot rolled to his feet and threw a fireball. Reaper pulled out his shotgun and shot the fireball, destroying it. Noob Saibot charged forwards and tried a combo, but Reaper blocked each strike before uppercutting the assassin. As the hellspawn fell down, Reaper pulled out two new Hellfire Shotguns and blasted him as he fell. Noob Saibot grunted as he was knocked through the air, and again when the end of a Hellfire Shotgun slammed into his stomach and fired, sending him flying through the air. Reaper appeared behind him and kicked him into the ground. Noob Saibot flipped to his feet and took his stance again.
"You will sing of pain for me!" he threatened.
"The grave cannot hold me." Reaper responded.
Noob Saibot crossed his arms, closing his eyes. Several more dark clones appeared and charged towards the terrorist. Reaper threw away his shotguns and pulled out more, firing them rapidly. The clones were destroyed, but Noob Saibot teleported next to Reaper and swept him off his feet. He quickly knocked Reaper around before grabbing and slamming him into the ground. Reaper kicked him away and blasted him with his shotgun, forcing him back. A clone appeared behind Reaper and seized him, throwing him towards Noob Saibot. Noob Saibot and the clone kicked Reaper around between them several times before Reaper used his Wraith Form to phase through Noob Saibot, surprising him.
"Watch your back." Reaper smacked Noob Saibot several times before grabbing him and suplexing him. The terrorist kicked his opponent away before blasting him with his shotguns. Noob Saibot grunted as he was shot with countless pellets before being punched and sent flying. He smashed through another tombstone, groaning as he laid on the ground.
"Not even trying." Reaper taunted as he walked forwards, shotguns in hand. Noob Saibot got to his feet, growling.
"Give in to death." he said before teleporting. Reaper blocked a kick from behind, but was sucker-punched by a clone. Noob Saibot slashed him several times with his sickle before punching away and blasting him with a fireball. As Reaper was sent flying, Noob Saibot fired a Disabler towards the terrorist. Reaper landed and got to his feet, but was hit by the ghostly energy blast, freezing him in place.
"Your dead ancestors whisper." Noob Saibot taunted before he and another clone began to whale on Reaper relentlessly. Reaper grunted as he was knocked around and punched. The clone grabbed Reaper and held him in a full nelson. Noob Saibot punched the Reaper in the chest, causing the terrorist to cry out as he felt his rib cage break. He turned into a Wraith and phased past the clone, panting as he took a breath. Noob Saibot sneered as he crossed his arms.
"The dead are legion." he said. An army of clones were created and all charged towards Reaper. The man growled before pulling out more shotguns and aiming them.
"That was a tactical error." shotgun shots rang out as Reaper destroyed multiple clones before tossing his guns away and punching one of the clones. He turned and thrashed around, destroying the clones before they slammed into him and dogpiled him. Reaper phased through the pile and cackled. A grenade inside the pile blew up, destroying a large portion of the clones. More charged at him from all around.
"Death Blossom is ready." Reaper muttered. He spun two shotguns and began spinning as dark mist gathered around him.
"Die! Die! DIE!" he yelled. Shotgun shots sprayed all over, destroying the entire army of clones. Noob Saibot was shocked, but pulled out a sickle from his heart and spun it around.
"I'm on fire." Reaper growled as he pulled out more shotguns, ribs completely healed.
"You will succumb to the inevitable." Noob Saibot said. The two charged towards each other. Reaper began to fire quickly, only for Noob Saibot to create and fall into a portal. The hellspawn shot through portal to portal as Reaper tried to continuously shoot him. Noob Saibot uppercutted him from a portal before grabbing his legs and slamming him down. Reaper coughed as he was bounced off the ground before Noob Saibot kicked him into another portal. Reaper found himself being tossed through portal to portal before receiving another brutal uppercut. He landed on the ground before getting to his feet, swaying where he stood. Noob Saibot walked over to him.
"Death's shadow comes for you."
FINISH HIM!
Noob Saibot grabbed Reaper by the neck. He yanked repeatedly, causing Reaper to groan and choke. Reaper tried to punch Noob Saibot, only for clones to pop up and hold him back. Noob Saibot pulled again, and Reaper's yell of pain was cut off as Noob Saibot ripped his head and spine out. Noob Saibot held the head up high as the clones crossed their arms in salute, blood running down his arm.
FATALITY!
Bryant: Reaper is undoubtedly one of the deadliest in his world, but Noob Saibot proved to be his superior.
Thea: Noob Saibot had a bunch of things over him, like fighting skill. Reaper is no slouch, but he's not on the same level as Noob Saibot, who mastered multiple martial arts, which isn't the same for the Reaper.
Bryant: Noob Saibot also has fought a larger variety of opponents, ranging from gods, to hellspawns, to sorcerers. And it was very clear which of the two was tougher and stronger, as Noob Saibot surviving the Soulnado was over twice that of Wrecking Ball surviving the fall to Earth.
Thea: The two were kinda close when it comes to speed. Both are in the Massively Hypersonic range, and both can teleport. Though Noob Saibot had the edge when it came to their teleporting, since his was more instant.
Bryant: Speaking of which, Noob Saibot had the edge in terms of arsenal and abilities.
Thea: Clones, the Disabler, fireballs, and portals? Sure, Reaper's intangibility, healing ability, and Death Blossom could help him keep up, but that can only do so much against Noob Saibot's greater skill and strength. Especially since Reaper's intangibility can only last so long, and can be worked around, and since Noob Saibot's own soul absorption can counter Reaper's own kind of healing, since they're the same thing.
Bryant: Reaper put up a good fight, but Noob Saibot's greater strength, arsenal, and abilities meant that it was only a matter of time before he fell.
Thea: Reaper was the Noob of this fight. Which means the winner of this WI Battle is Noob Saibot!
Mortal Kombat is a fighting game series that I enjoyed, but I prefer Tekken way more. And Overwatch was a pretty cool game, especially in the animated shorts. I really don't have much more to say about this, but I hope you enjoyed. As per the usual, leave a review! Azure out!
NO ALTERNATE ENDING THIS TIME, SORRY.
NEXT TIME!
"Kkkrrraa…" an armored alien appeared out of thin air, straightening as it sensed something. Another armored alien appeared, holding an alien weapon in its hands.
"I have faced the Flood and silenced Truth. I will quell your thunder and douse your flame."
