A/N:
Given the original fic "What's in a Destiny" has a lot of interconnected moments with "Lord Uzumaki" I decided to just combine them.
• 1 Decade since the Destruction of Planet Vegeta,
on Planet Japan:
Misaki was sitting at his table. He still wasn't used to these formal dinners. He hated it, truth be told. Unfortunately, ever since his brother started dating Usagi-Sama... well Misaki had been dragged to a lot of these fancy dinner parties. However, this had to be the most embarrassing of them all.
Three of Marukawa Publishing's prize authors, had recently outed themselves as gay. Well Bi, in Shigure Soma's case. So the company decided to have this big event, to take advantage of Pride Month.
The men, and there families, were brought to a fancy hotel, and told to talk to each other about their family life. The kids, Misaki included, were of particular interest... Usagi-Sama wasn't willing to do it, but Misaki's older brother, and Usagi's boyfriend, Takahiro, thought it be a good idea. Even helpful to other gay couples. Given they would be shown as competent guardians.
Marukawa Publishing had then rented a convention hall, at a luxury hotel, and had three tables set up. One For the three author's, one for their parents... and one for the kids...
One guess which table Misaki was stuck at. Blushing like mad, there was a sea of photographers and journalist. Scribbling down everything the kids said to each other... which wasn't much, as they all felt just as awkward as Misaki.
They were all teenagers, and not used to such large crowds. Although Misaki was the oldest, and thereby the one that had the most expectations on him...
Which just made it worse that the boy had no idea how to even hold his fork, and constantly poked himself with it. Misaki barely ever needed to eat with a fork. Most of his meals, which he cooked himself, required either chopsticks or spoons... rarely forks. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to hold it... and kept poking his mouth with it.
His fellow teenagers were just as uneasy as himself. Although thankfully, The reporters weren't allowed to ask them questions. The kids were just supposed to sit here, and look cute.
Yeah, he got that people weren't REALLY adults until 30. Given the brain didn't finish developing until 25, and the extra few years were to insure people got experience before they were thrusted into adulthood. But kids Misaki's age had a lot of legal privileges. Like the right to live on their own... even if Misaki didn't.
Of course, in the boy's defense, him still living at home was more a result of his overprotective big brother.
Regardless, it was all kinds of humiliating to be sat at the "Kiddie table" with a bunch of 15 year olds... one of which was taller then him.
There were two other boys, and a girl. With the boys having very rebellious hair colors. Misaki was a little shocked they hadn't been forced to bleach the dye out of their hair, before being dragged here. The Kids were even wearing colorful contact lenses.
Yuki and Kyo Soma... weird kids. They were technically Shigure-Sama's cousins. Both were orphans, being raised by the extended family. It just happened to be Shigure's turn.
The girl, Tohru Honda, on the other hand, had been properly adopted by the man. She seemed like a polite, ordinary, girl. So was clearly flustered to be in front of the Cameras.
Meanwhile, the stars of this event were sitting at their own table, getting their pictures taken.
"Did you adopt a street urchin?" Scowled The great novelist, Eiri Yuki. No relation to Yuki Soma, as that was a fairly common name.
He was staring over at Misaki. As the boy poked himself with the fork, while trying to eat. Not that the boy noticed, or could even hear him, from so far away.
His fellow Novelist, Akihiko Usami, or Usagi to his closest friends, grunted. "Near enough, he's my lover's little brother."
Yet another novelist, Shigure Soma, snickered, "I think he's adorable. What with how he's struggling. You know, I have a few boys in my own care. Maybe we could arrange a playdate." knowing how much his teenage cousins would hate that.
"He's 19." Usagi informed.
Shigure blinked, "Wow he's short."
Yuki scoffed, "What's he doing still living at home?"
"Takahiro coddles him," Usagi sighed. "He's not such a bad kid. At least he helps around my penthouse. Does most of the cleaning, without ever being asked. Not a bad cook either."
"Which one are you dating again?" Shigure smirked.
"Please, Misaki might be a good boy, but he's still just a boy," Usagi insisted. "And Takahiro still sees him as a helpless little kid. There parents died when Misaki was a toddler. Takahiro had to give up college, to take care of him. In respect for his brother, Misaki studied his little heart out, so he could go to the school Takahiro dropped out of.
"... I owe a lot to Misaki. While I was tutoring him, he convinced me to tell his brother how I felt... which I didn't, so he told him. That resulted in Takahiro asking me out on a date.
"I only learned later that Takahiro was planning to propose to his girlfriend. And THAT's why Misaki interfered directly."
"Ooooooh, so you're a home wrecker," Shigure chuckled.
"Technically, Misaki is," Usagi insisted. "And Takahiro said he was just settling. As he did like the girl, and thought of her as a friend, but wasn't actually attracted to her... he didn't really know he was gay, until Misaki told him about me. That got him thinking, and he said he wanted to try with someone he trust. That developed into our current relationship.
"Takahiro is still on good terms with his former girlfriend... which admittedly I'm a little insecure about. But she is a very understanding and compassionate woman."
Yuki said nothing. Not happy to be here, and not being very Cooperative. However, Usagi was being extra charming... and maybe a little petty, pouring out his unorthodox family's dirty laundry.
Usagi continued, "Eventually, I was able to convince Takahiro to move into my penthouse. As I convinced him, he would have an easier time paying for Misaki's schooling, if he didn't have to worry about rent. Takahiro always does what's best for his brother. So it may have been a low blow, on my part."
A reporter spoke up, despite this not being the questions portion. "While that's all well and good, there are some people who are worried about gay men raising boys. Can you tell us how you discipline the youths?"
After the PR woman scolded the reporter for getting ahead of herself. Usagi felt it best to answer.
"I don't," Usagi assured. "Takahiro handles all disciplinary matters. Which usually involves groundings and restrictions. Occasionally spankings, but Misaki is usually too well behaved to need that."
Shigure pointed out the obvious,"That's all pretty common, for a college boy, living at home. It's good you keep up on him. The boys in my house, are both accomplished martial artist. Good luck getting them to cooperate for a spanking. But they're good enough kids, that a talking-to usually gets them remorseful enough."
Yuki sneered, "Sounds like your a doormat of a guardian."
Shigure just laughed, "Probably, but the kids don't step out of line too often."
Yuki suddenly sighed, "Sometimes I feel like I'm dating a child. Shuichi can be such a brat."
Shigure snickered, "You're dating a 20 year old Rock Star. What did you THINK that would be like."
Usagi commented, "Yuki-Sama is only 24, himself. He just looks older. Must have poor genes."
Yuki glared at him, and a photographer managed to snap a picture.
As they casually chatted about their personal lives, the reporters were taking pages worth of notes. This was, after all, why they were here.
Takahiro sat awkwardly, with the other lovers. He knew this was his idea, but he couldn't help feeling overwhelmed. He was trying to make small talk... but this man was so over the top.
Ayame Soma was all bright smiles, and cheerful... everything. He was so shamelessly flamboyant, Takahiro didn't know how to handle him.
"You make... lingerie..." Takahiro blushed.
"I wouldn't put it so crudely," despite the man's words, he didn't seem offended. "I'm an artist. Most of the outfits I make are more modest, only occasionally am I called on to make something more... exotic. I'm not prudish enough to shame my clients for such desires. It's natural, after all."
Before Takahiro could even deepen his blush, Shuichi Shindo spoke up.
The smaller man was a... remarkably famous rock star. He was all over the news, long before it was leaked he was in a relationship with one of the greatest Authors, outside Usagi-san. He was dating the older Yuki.
Shuichi smiled, running a hand through his short, pink, hair. It was even cut in a boyish style. All sticking up, and rarely brushed... this boy wasn't much older then Misaki. It seemed wrong to exploit him with this interview.
"Aya actually makes most of my outfits," The boy said that with a clear lack of understanding. He had no idea he should feel shame for that. Although, the next words out of his mouth, showed why he didn't need to. "Most of what he makes is for my music videoes, or shoots. But he also makes a lot of really great outfits I like to wear to cons."
It suddenly, and with a great deal of relief, clicked. "OH you're a cosplay designer!"
Unfortunately, now Ayame looked offended. "I am an artist!" He insisted. "My outfits aren't simple costumes!"
Shuichi nodded adamantly. Although, that kid was known for wearing cosplay outfits in public. Even on common days. He was this generations Lady Gaga... no one was surprised to learn the kid was gay.
"My apologies," Takahiro tried to calm the situation. Still not used to dealing with such famous people. He knew they could be a tad eccentric. Given his own boyfriend, Usagi. Although Usagi had always been fascinated by childish toys, and the common family dynamic. Which he was getting a taste of, helping Takahiro raise his little brother.
• Codex - Yaoi Couples on Planet Japan:
• Based on the show "Fruits Basket." Lore taken from my fic "Cursed", on my other profile, "ColtKit Productions".
- The Sohmas were cursed. Whenever a Sohma Psychic became stressed, or hugged by a member of the opposite sex, they transformed into the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, plus the cat. The curse only inflicted members of the family, that possessed high levels of Spiritual energy. Which wasn't many, and not all of them were actually cursed. It was only 13 per generation. The cat was actually the reason behind the Curse. Hundreds of years ago a Witch from the Sohma clan fought along side 12 spirits to contain a demon, the cat. The witch sealed them all away, bound to her family line. The spirits were suppose to contain the cat for all eternity, with human Sohmas as there host. It was a self inflicted curse to contain the demon.
• Based on "Gravitation." Where a young singer, Shuichi Shindo, falls in love with the famous novelist, Eiri Yuki. They enter a somewhat toxic relationship. As Yuki has a lot of emotional baggage, due to being raped as a child, and killing his abusers. Shuichi manages to help Yuki overcome his trauma, and they form a much more healthy relationship. Shuichi holds fairly low spiritual energy. However, he was born with a "Toon" class. Allowing him to run on his own laws of physics, different then the rest of the universe. Basically making him an indestructible cartoon.
• Based on "Junjo Romantica." Which is several stories of different gay relationships. Although they are all connected to each other, in some way.
- This Alternate Universe takes inspiration from the fic "Junjo Flame", where Misaki is Dating Shinobu. And Usagi is dating Misaki's older brother. However, unlike Junjo Flame, Usagi is much more appreciative of Misaki, and views him as a close friend. Even sees himself as a type of mentor, to the boy. Although their relationship is purely platonic.
