A/N:
Please go back and read all new chapters, that begin with either "11th Hour" or "Interlude". As, given the original fic "What's in a Destiny", has a lot of interconnected moments with "Lord Uzumaki", I decided to combine the 2 fics into one.
Trunks was sitting on his patio, enjoying a calming cup of tea. Waiting for the Moon to rise, and enduring the Sunset beforehand. The Doctor had gotten him hooked on things like this. A warm tea, while watching the stars.
Each of the living chambers, came with a similar patio. Although most of the Saiyans living in these chambers, were for the "Castle" staff, and their families. Although there was a floor dedicated to First Class Warriors. Whom were treated much like nobility.
Capsule Corp had created this portable, self contained, skyscraper. With each of the 42 floors, dedicated to a different aspect, that a city needed.
There was a floor for government offices. Such as the treasury, the council chambers, social security, and what not.
Another floor was the Market District. Where crafters and traders lived, and sold their wears.
Another was the hospital floor, divided into various wings, which specialized in different treatments or types of patients. Such as the cub Doctors, or the xeno-biologist (for aliens and hybrids). There was also a wing, where the healers lived, and could mingle.
A school floor, to teach all the low class cubs. As well as a training dojo, for the higher class.
As well as various other such districts, and living space for those who need them. Although most jobs didn't involve a personal chambers.
Trunks was now living on the top floor, for the royal family.
Which more focused on communal areas. Such as, a bathhouse, a dining area, a gravity based training room, a luxury kitchen, an arcade (filled with Earth games Doctor Briefs thought the children would enjoy), and various other luxuries. With the Private chambers, being more an afterthought.
Trunks, Frieza, Prince Vegeta, Prince Tarble, King Grampa, The Doctor, and even Cooler, each having their own chambers.
With each chambers being made of only two rooms, a sitting room, and a patio, like this one. There was also, only one half bath, and a walk in closet, down the same hallway.
However, there was a reason trunks didn't call the rooms "Bedrooms". As they definitely weren't meant for sleeping. The chambers were purely for daylight activites. As at night, the entire royal family, as all Saiyan families did, would snuggle together, in a pile.
There was a special room, for that... which was basically a padded room, like an asylum. Only with dozens of comfy blankets, pillows, and even plushies for the children.
It... was weird... Trunks hadn't actually done it yet. Given he was just barely accepted into the royal family, yesterday. And, King Grampa, wasn't happy Trunks chose to sleep away from everyone, his first night on the top floor... his reaction was to shoot a ki blast at Trunks bed, and threaten to spank the time traveler, if he dare exclude himself from the pack like that, again.
Trunks hadn't realized he stomped on some kind of cultural norm... and wasn't exactly happy Gohan Senior had apparently taught the Saiyans a new way to "Discipline cubs", which was being pushed by the medical clutch.
Still... trunks vaguely remembered sleeping in his parents bed, when his father was alive. Apparently, that was expected to continue, until the boy was "Mated Off."
Well, for most Saiyans. In the case of the royal family, people married into it. Even if they were female.
Trunks... wasn't particularly happy his grandfather wanted him to participate in the next "Mating Season", with dances and embarrassment, to attract a female.
Although the King did promise the females would be aware, through his dance moves, that he wasn't interested in them.
Grampa said, marriage without a female involved, was illegal... largely because they had a female dominant society... which was news to Trunks, but made sense why his dad had been attracted to his mom. Saiyans LIKED bossy, argumentative, women.
Trunks sighed, King Grampa wanted to get him accepted as a consort. To someone who already had a husband... where he'd basically be a live-in maid, to her... although... she could choose to punish him.
Which come on, Trunks was one of the most powerful individuals in this compound.
Although, in this reality, King Vegeta was as strong as Super Saiyan Trunks, in his base form. As apparently, after Trunks Stole Frieza, King Cold trained relentlessly, until he was a freaking Star Cluster Buster... and trained his inner circle of slaves, the world leaders, to be solar system busters. Those who couldn't become that, died from the training, and their kin replaced them. Until someone survived.
This meant, Cold, and all his combined army... were as big a threat as Buu... Trunks... couldn't compete with that... he should have just killed the man... why HADN'T he killed him.
" You can't change history if your part of it," The Doctor's words echoed in the boy's head.
Trunks needed to start thinking linearly. He couldn't "Fix" the past. That just wasn't possible. He needed to find a way to build a better future, with this moment as the Starting Point.
but how?
After staring at the stars, for a few hours, Trunks made his way to the royal bathhouse... he still wasn't used to bathing in anything outside a stream. Gohan... his Gohan, would insist they keep clean. Finding safe places for them to wash up. But it was always in cold streams, or lakes.
Once Trunks reached the bath, he was a little surprised by all the steam. Toeing the water, it was uncomfortably warm.
"I've been meaning to ask,"
Trunks jumped, turning with lightning reflexes, and unleashing a powerful kick. Only for a hand to grasp his leg.
The owner of the hand, turned out to be none other then King Grampa. The older Saiyan smiled, a predatory grin. Before slamming his palm against Trunks chest, and sending him flying into the large shallow pool.
Trunks was under water, for all of a moment, but it was enough to get soap up his nose. Sitting up, Trunks started coughing up a storm. King Grampa just continued to smile.
"Not bad cub," He praised, clearly proud. "Not many can force me to block."
Trunks continued to cough. However he eventually got control of himself. In time for his grandfather to disrobe.
Soon enough, Trunks was blushing as his elder washed his hair.
"Want to tell me how it happened?" King Grampa suddenly asked. Leaving Trunks all manner of confused. "Your tail, boy."
Trunks blushed. He never really thought about his lack of a tail... although he did know what happened to it.
"My mom had it removed, when I was born," Trunks shrugged.
He felt Vegeta Senior freeze in place, before the man exploded, "YOUR MOTHER DID THIS TO YOU!!!" With absolute horror in his voice.
Trunks didn't know why he was so horrified by that. "She was a human, and couldn't handle a Saiyan cub."
"So she cut off your TAIL!!!" The king wasn't really asking a question there. Still Trunks felt inclined to explain.
"It's not like she got a pair of scissors. She had highly trained surgeons remove it. I was put under, and was too young to notice a difference."
"And where was Prince Vegeta in all of this?" The king growled.
"Busy protecting the planet from Androids." Trunks shrugged. "Gohan told me he was pissed, but it was too late to change anything."
King Grampa took in a breath. "I'm surprised he didn't kill her."
Trunks eyes widened, to the point they stung with Shampoo. He yelped, as his grand-dad pulled him into a hug.
"It's going to be okay," The man insisted. "Everything is going to be a okay. I won't let anyone do anything to you again."
Trunks blinked, trying to rub the soap out of his eyes... which made his Grandfather appear to think he was crying. The man was treating him like an abuse victim.
"I'm fine," Trunks tried to express. "Really! She was a good mom." That just got him hugged tighter. Are tails really that important?
The next day, Trunks woke up in an embarrassing cuddle of Saiyans. Prince Vegeta was still exploring the Star Cluster, with Cooler... which Trunks didn't mind very much. Given how weird he was around the boy, that would become his father.
Although Trunks was disappointed, the Doctor wasn't here. Given he was in the building... but didn't need nearly as much sleep as Sapients... Which neither did Frieza, not really.
Immediately upon waking, King Grampa asked, while more like told, Trunks what he would be doing today.
"A Class?" Trunks blinked. "You want me to teach a class?"
"You are the first recorded Saiyan to ever achieve our legendary form," King Grampa reminded. "It's your responsibility to pass on that knowledge." Not to mention, it'd make him more desirable to a mate.
Trunks just shrugged, "Everyone could do it, when I'm from."
The King did his best not to show his shock... but the boy didn't make it easy.
"In fact, the only reason I can, is because I inherited the form from my father... I... don't think I can teach it." Trunks admitted.
King Vegeta didn't know whether he should groan in despair, or jump with joy. The idea that their ultimate form could be inherited... that was beyond enthralling... but that Trunks couldn't teach the ability, as a result.
"Besides, I can't actually achieve the legendary form. Just Super Saiyan," The boy gave another shrug.
"You..." the king had to pause, in order to gather his thoughts. Holding himself with more dignity, he asked. "There are forms beyond Super Saiyan?"
"Well... I know of Super Saiyan 4," The boy looked thoughtful. "That's basically combining The Great Ape form, with Super Saiyan 3. It's got like a 200% increase, of the base form."
"Increase of what?" King Vegeta demanded.
The boy smirked, "Everything, strength, speed, durability, power level."
Vegeta visibly gulped, imagining such power.
"Of course, only father and Goku ever achieved that."
Vegeta's eyes widened, never having imagined his son held such potential, and he held no small expectations for his children.
Trunks chuckled, "Dad would tell me stories about his Rival. How they were always pushing each other past their limits. Dad was OFFENDED, that a Low Class Saiyan could compete with him... although he eventually considered Goku to be his best friend."
"Low Class?" Vegeta narrowed his eyes.
Trunks full out laughed, "Yeah, Goku started as a little weakling. But he worked his ass off until he could go toe to toe with gods. I believe, in his prime universe, he actually ascended into a legit god. So did dad, actually."
King Vegeta thought on that. A low class Saiyan, was capable of pushing passed their very legends... even pushed the Prince of the Saiyans to achieve such power...
He needed to find this boy. Encourage the rivalry that inspired such greatness. This would no doubt annoy the High Borns, but King Vegeta was no fool. He needed to nurture this power. As he did with the High Born, Broly.
