Chapter 5
Rory POV
The rest of the week seemed to pass by fairly quickly and before we knew it, the weekend was here. The wedding announcement had been printed and suddenly our phones were constantly ringing. We'd headed up to spend the weekend with Grandma to get away from all of the press.
Grandma and I were sitting on the patio while Colin and Ellie were walking on the beach. "So I saw the announcement." Grandma said.
"I knew you would. I haven't seen it but Holly said that it looks spectacular." I told her.
"Yes well, I'm sure that Holly and Andrew spent a lot of time on the announcement." Grandma said.
I sat my coffee cup down and looked over at Grandma. "Is there something you want to ask." I said.
"How did Logan take the news?" She asked me.
I knew it was a matter of time. "At first he was upset but then when Colin explained the entire situation to him, he realized that Colin was always meant to be Ellie's dad." I told her.
She nodded. "And what role does he plan to play in her life?"
"He wants to be Uncle Logan and has even invited us to visit in London." I said.
Grandma gave me a curious look. "Do you think that's wise?" She asked me.
I shrugged. "I don't know, Grandma. Colin and Logan have been best friends for over half of their life. This situation got things all screwed up but the three of us are making the best of it." I told her. "I don't even know what Logan has told Odette about me."
"Maybe Colin could ask him." She said.
"Maybe." I said. I took a drink of my coffee. "Colin and I have decided that until we're sure that Mitchum and Shira aren't going to cause any problems that Ellie's not going to be attending any society events." I told her.
"How did Holly and Andrew take it?" She asked.
"Fairly well. Once things were explained they seemed okay with it." I said.
Grandma took a drink of her coffee. "So what's next?" She asked me.
"Well, the announcement is out, the wedding plans are done. That's why we waited so long for the announcement. The engagement party is in two weeks and the wedding is in three months. Everything is done." I told her.
Grandma nodded. "And your mother… how does she feel about everything?" She asked.
I sighed. "You know Mom, she has to have an opinion about everything. She thinks that Colin and I rushed into everything, but she doesn't know the whole story. I never told her because she wouldn't understand." I told Grandma as I watched Colin and Ellie on the beach. She was bent over most likely looking for sea shells.
"You know, I'm really proud of you Rory." Grandma said, causing me to look at her. "Yes, at first I was disappointed that you were pregnant and unmarried but I'm glad that you didn't marry Logan. I think that you would've been unhappy. Every time that I see you and Colin together I can clearly see how much you two love each other." She said.
"Thank you Grandma. It means a lot." I told her and she smiled at me.
"I have to head to the museum but I'll be back later. Berta is here if you need anything." Grandma said.
"We'll be fine Grandma." I told her.
After Grandma left, I went back to watching my two favorite people. I couldn't help but think about when I'd asked Colin to move in with us.
***Flashback***
Things with Colin had been good. We'd moved past things that had happened in the past and we were going to couples counseling. I'd introduced Colin to Mom and Luke. Mom had been skeptical at first but she eventually came around. Colin had introduced me and Ellie to his parents. It had been completely different than when I'd met Logan's parents. We quickly because a family, all of us.
Ellie was spending the weekend with my mom so Colin and I had decided to lock ourselves in my house for the weekend. We were laying in bed. I looked over at him and he looked deep in thought. "Col?" I said.
"Hmm?"
"Move in with me." I said.
Colin wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him. He kissed me hard. "You don't know how long I've waited to hear those words." He said before kissing me again.
"So is that a yes?" I smiled.
"It's a hell yes."
***End of Flashback***
I was pulled from my thoughts by Ellie running up the yard calling my name. "Check it out mom!" She yelled.
When she reached the porch where I was sitting, she showed me the seashells that she'd found on the beach. "That's so cool Ellie-bug. Why don't you go get cleaned up and put your shells in the sink so that we can wash them." I told her. "When you get done, we can go get something to eat, okay?"
Ellie smiled and then took off inside the house. Colin walked up on the porch and sat down beside me. "You okay?" He asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah. I was talking to Grandma and then I started thinking about when I asked you to move in with me and Ellie." I said.
"That was a great day." Colin said. "Let's go get some food." I nodded.
