Chapter 9

Rory POV

The weekend of mine and Colin's wedding had finally arrived. Colin had already left with Ellie to go meet up with his parents for the rehearsal dinner, while I finished getting ready. I was walking into the living room and the doorbell rang. I walked over to the front door and opened it. "Logan hi, sorry I'm running a little late for the rehearsal dinner, everything okay?" I said.

"umm…I just wanted to let you know that Odette has decided to sit with my mother at the ceremony." Logan said.

I looked up at him. "What's really going on?" I asked.

Logan ran a hand over his face. "Odette found the picture you sent me of Ellie." He said and I nodded.

"Did she ask?" I asked him. He nodded. "Okay, what did you tell her?"

"Exactly what you, me and Colin decided that she's my niece/goddaughter." He told me.

"You think that she believed you." I said.

"I think so but I'm not sure. I just wanted you to know, because she's really close with my mother. She might say something to my mother." Logan told me.

"Thanks." I said. I walked over to the couch and sat down to put my shoes on. "I am sorry about how all of this happened, Logan." I told him.

"Ror, it is what it is. Colin said that you told Lorelai everything." Logan said.

I nodded. "I did. I told Mom everything about the Vegas agreements I had with you and Colin." I said.

"Why?"

"Because she was trying to convince me to call off the wedding. It took me a while to realize why she wasn't giving Colin a fair chance." I told him. He nodded. "I need to get going. Mind giving me a lift?" I asked. He agreed.

When I walked into the country club, it didn't take long for me to find Colin. "I'm sorry. I know that I'm late." I said quickly kissing Colin.

"It's okay. What kept you?" He asked.

"Logan stopped by. Mentioned something about Odette. I'll fill you in later." I whispered. He nodded.

Once we'd gotten the rehearsal done, we all sat down to dinner. I noticed my Mom and Holly kept eyeing each other. No doubt they were talking about when they'd have another grandkid.

Colin squeezed my hand and then stood up. "On behalf of Rory and myself, I'd like to thank all of you for supporting us. You know, Rory and I were talking the other night and we realized that many of you don't know how Rory and I got our start…Let's just say that it wasn't a conventional way of dating that's for sure." Colin said and several people laughed. "But that aside, I don't know where I'd be without this beautiful woman by my side. You know, we have our ups and our downs just like any other couple but one thing that Rory and I have learned is that there is no shame in asking for help."

I heard several people say "here here".

Overall the rehearsal dinner had gone well. Mom had taken Ellie home with her and Luke so that Colin and I could have a little bit of time to ourselves before he dropped me off at their house. We'd decided to go for a walk through the park that was near our house. I had one hand holding his hand and the other was wrapped around his arm. "This is nice. We should do this more often." I said.

"What? Have a rehearsal dinner with our families and friends?" He joked.

"No, walking around the park just the two of us." I said.

"I know. Hopefully when we get back from London, things will settle back down." Colin said.

"How long are we going to be in London?" I asked.

"Not sure. Dad won't give me a definite answer." He said.

I stopped walking. Colin turned and looked at me. "Well, we need to tell him that we can't stay more than 6 months." I said, hoping that Colin would put 2 and 2 together.

"Why?" Guess not.

"Because I refuse to give birth in another country." I said, smiling at him.

"You mean?" I nodded. He picked me up and swung me around. "When did you find out?"

"This morning before I went to turn in my paperwork for my sabbatical." I told him.

Colin pulled me to him kissing me. "I'm so happy right now." He said.

"Col, we're not telling anyone until after the honeymoon. Okay?"

"Whatever you want. I'm just so happy right now. We're getting married tomorrow and we're expanding our family." Colin said, cupping my face and kissing me again.

The next morning, I'm woken up by someone waving a bag of coffee under my nose. I open my eyes and see Ellie. "What are you doing?" I ask her.

"Grandma said to wave coffee under your nose to wake you up." Ellie said.

"I think that Grandma meant a cup of coffee."

"Yeah but I was afraid that I might spill it on you." Ellie said.

"I appreciate that. Mommy will be out in a minute." I told her and she ran out the room.

I sat up in bed and looked around the room. Granted all of my stuff had been moved to mine and Colin's house but it was weird to think that this would be that last time that I would ever wake up in this bed alone.

I guess that I'd been lost in my thoughts. It wasn't until I heard a knock on the bedroom door that I moved. I looked over at the door and I saw Mom standing there. "You okay, kid?" Mom said.

She handed me a cup of coffee. "Yeah, just thinking about all the memories, not just in this room but this house." I told her.

"Yeah, we have had some good times haven't we?" She smiled.

"Yeah." I said taking a small drink of my coffee. "What time do we have to be there?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer.

"We've got time. Go shower." She said.

Colin POV

After waking up alone, I showered and threw on a pair of jeans and a Polo shirt before driving over to my parents' house. When I walked I headed straight for the dining room where I knew I'd find my parent's. "Good morning." I said sitting beside my father.

"Good morning son." Dad said.

"Where's Mom?" I asked.

"Oh she's with Lorelai, Rory and Ellie." Dad said.

I nodded. "I need to talk to you about London." I said and Dad put his paper down.

"What about it?" He asked.

"We can't stay more than 6 months." I said, with a big ass grin on my face.

"Can I ask why?"

"Because Rory refuses to give birth in London." I said, taking a drink of the coffee in front of me.

"Wow. Okay." He said.

"Don't tell Mom. Ror wants to wait until after our honeymoon." I told him.

"Not a peep."

When I arrived at the church, I was immediately led to the room where me and the guys would be getting ready in. I hung up my suit and then I sat down to wait for the guys. I started thinking about everything that Rory and I had been through. When Rory had told me that she was pregnant with Ellie, I didn't think that we'd ever get here. I thought that I had lost her forever because I'd pushed her away. I was so grateful that I'd ran into her and Ellie that day in Hartford. I don't think that we'd be here right now if I hadn't.

I was pulled from my thoughts by the sound of Finn, Logan and Robert laughing about something. "Hey guys." I said looking over at them.

"You okay?" Finn asked.

I nodded. "Yeah. Just thinking about everything that Rory and I have been through." I said.

"You know, you mentioned something last night." Finn said. "You made a comment about you and Rory realizing that it's okay to ask for help. What did you mean?"

I let out a sigh. I knew that someone was going to ask but I honestly thought that it was going to be last night. "Rory and I dated a bit after her and Logan broke up. Let's just say that some things happened." I said and they nodded. "So when we reconnected that day in Hartford, we realized that we needed a healthy way to move past all of it. So after talking to my parents, we decided to go to counseling."

"Did it help?" Robert asked.

"Yeah. It's a great help. We still go. Not as often. But it gives Rory and I a healthy way to talk about any problems or issues that we might be having." I told them.

"Who would've thought." Logan said. "Lets get you married."

Rory POV

When Mom, Ellie, Holly and I arrived at the church we were immediately ushered into the bridal suite to get ready. Steph had called and said that she was running late but she promised that she would be here in time. I wasn't worried. Steph was good under pressure. Mom immediately pushed me into a chair so that she could start on my hair.

When Mom got my hair done, she and Holly helped me into my dress. Once we got my dress on, I was back in the chair and Mom was covering me with a towel so that she could do my makeup. While Mom was doing my makeup, Holly was helping Ellie get dressed. This would be the first time that Ellie had been at a society event but Colin and I really wanted her here with us today. Besides, we had enough people to help keep the Huntzbergers away from her today. My biggest worry though was hoping that Odette and Shira wouldn't cause any problems. But I couldn't think about that right now.

Steph came in right about the time that Mom finished my makeup. Shortly after that Rosemary and Juliet joined us as well. Before I knew it, the wedding coordinator was coming in and telling us that it was time to line up. Mom made her way out to sit with Luke and Lana. The girls headed out to line up as Dad walked in. "You ready kiddo?" He asked me.

I took a deep breath. "Ready as I'll ever be." I said.

Dad and I made our way out and stood behind Steph. Steph turned around and hugged me before she made her way down the aisle. When we heard the wedding march start to play, I turned to Dad. "Don't let me fall." I told him, thinking back to the Debutante ball all those years ago.

"Never." He said right as the doors were opened for us.

Dad and I made our way down the aisle. When I looked up, I saw Colin and my eyes locked with his. I couldn't tell if he was stunned or what. I hoped that he liked the dress. When we reached the altar, Dad kissed my cheek and Colin took my hand. We walked up the couple of steps to the minister. We turned to face him. I wasn't really paying attention to what the minister was saying. I felt like I was on autopilot. I said my vows when it was time, as did Colin. The next time that I heard the minister speak, he was pronouncing us husband and wife.

Colin and I made our way down the aisle and out to the limo that was waiting to take us to the reception. Once we were in the limo, Colin pulled me to him and kissed me. "I love you." He said.

"I love you too."

Colin POV

Rory looked so beautiful. I'd never seen her look so beautiful. When we arrived at the reception, the first thing I did was drag her to the dance floor. "Have I told you how beautiful you look?" I asked.

"No, you haven't. But I was hoping that you'd like the dress." She said.

"I do. But I'm hoping that I'll like what's underneath it even more." I said, smirking at her.

"Oh you will. But you know we have this thing about dressing in 20s attire so that's what I was going for." She said.

"Well, I think that you nailed it." I said.

When Rory and I finished dancing, she went off to talk to a few of the guests while I made my way to the bar for a drink. While I was waiting for my drink, I turned around and scanned the room for Rory. She'd been cornered by Odette and Shira. Go figure that they'd pick today of all days to corner Rory and confront her about Ellie. We knew that it was going to happen at some point I was just hoping that it wasn't going to be today. I grabbed my drink from the bartender and went to grab Logan. He was talking to Mitchum. I looked at Logan. "Come with me." I said and he looked confused. I turned him so that he could see Rory, his wife and his mother.

"Damn it." Logan said. We took off toward the three with Mitchum following us.

Rory POV

I had been making my way around the room greeting our guests when Shira and Odette cornered me. "Rory, you look beautiful." Shira said in her society voice that I knew all too well.

"Why thank you Shira. Thank you for coming. Is Mitchum with you?" I asked in my own society voice.

"He is. He and Logan were talking business, so I thought that this might be a good time for the two of us to talk." Shira said.

"What could we possibly have to talk about?" I asked her. "I mean if it's something DAR or Garden club related surely it could wait until a more appropriate time." I said.

"Well I was hoping that we could talk about your daughter." Shira said.

I crossed my arms. "What about my daughter?" I asked.

Shira was about to answer me when Colin, Logan and Mitchum walked up. "What's going on here?" Logan asked.

"Rory and I were talking about how adorable her daughter is." Shira said never taking her eyes off me.

"You don't think that I really believe that's what you were about to say do you?" I said, bitterly.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Odette asked, speaking up for the first time.

"What it means, is that I know that you found the picture that I sent Logan." I said, glaring at her.

Odette turned and glared at Logan. "You told her." Odette said.

"Can someone please tell me what is going on here?" Mitchum asked.

I looked at Colin and then Logan who both nodded. I let out a sigh. "Logan is Ellie's biological father." I said quietly.

Mitchum looked at me for a minute before turning to Shira and Odette. "Go away. Both of you and mind your business." He said. When Odette and Shira had walked away, Mitchum turned back to look at me. "I already knew. I've been trying to keep Shira and Odette from finding out because clearly the three of you had come to some sort of an arrangement." He said surprising all of us.

"You're not mad." Logan said.

Mitchum shook his head. "Mad? No. Hurt? A little. But I can understand Rory's reasoning. Your mother and I didn't exactly treat Rory the way that we should have." Mitchum said.

I looked at Mitchum surprising myself, "Thank you. Would you like to meet her?" I asked.

Mitchum reached out and gently touched my arm. "Yes. But not today. Today is about you and Colin. Another day, and I'll make sure that Shira and Odette are busy." Mitchum said, before dragging Logan behind him who had an apologetic look on his face.

Once they'd walked off, Colin turned to me. "What just happened?" I asked him.

"I have no idea." He said.

Logan POV

Dad and I were walking over to the bar to get a drink, "I understand why you didn't come to me and I'm sorry. For all of it." Dad said.

"Dad, when Rory told me that she was pregnant, it was right after the engagement announcement went out. She made it clear that she didn't want anything mainly because she knew that it would be too complicated for me to be involved. Later on I found out that Ellie was never supposed to be mine." I said and Dad looked at me confused. "Rory had been casually seeing both me and Colin and they were working on making things more serious when I decided to get her drunk and she slept with me instead of him."

"It doesn't matter what the circumstance is. It will all work out son. Now to the matter at hand. Are you happy with Odette?" He asked me for the first time since introducing me to Odette.

"Of course not. I've never been happy with Odette, hence why I've refused to get her pregnant, Dad." I said.

"I'll have the paperwork drawn up. Go to London, pack your stuff. Move to New York. Find your happiness Logan." Dad said.

"Thanks."

Rory POV

Colin and I were dancing when I looked over towards the bar and I saw Logan in what looked like a heated discussion with Mitchum. "What do you think that their talking about?" I asked him.

"I don't know, Mitchum is probably asking him questions about Ellie…who knows. You know what I do know?" He said.

"What?" I asked.

"I'm ready to get out of here." He said.

"Let's go say goodbye." I said.

Colin and I made our way over to where his parents, my parents and Ellie were standing. We said our goodbyes and told Ellie that we'd see her in a few weeks when Colin's parents would bring her to join us in London. It was going to be hard being away from her for that long because it would be the longest that I'd ever been away from her but in a way it would be good. It would give Colin and me some time to ourselves as well as time to get our townhouse in London set up. We were gonna be living in Gran's townhouse that had been left to me. It was definitely going to be an adventure.
