Chapter 10 - Rory POV
It's been five years since Colin and I got married and I'm not gonna lie they haven't always been perfect. Our time in London hadn't been perfect especially once Odette found out that we were living there and that Logan was divorcing her. She'd shown up at our house and threatened me. We'd had to call the cops and get a restraining order. Ellie wasn't happy about living in London, she said that it rained too much, but she was happy about becoming a big sister…well that and getting to know Logan a little better. After our conversation with Mitchum at our wedding reception, we'd decided to sit Ellie down and explain to her that she had two daddies. She had Colin and she had Logan. Of course she was confused, so we explained that Logan wasn't in a place to be her daddy at the time so Colin decided to do it. If that makes any sense. She understood. She compared it to Grandpa Chris and Papa Luke. I'd told her that it was the same thing. She was smarter than we all gave her credit for.
True to Andrew's word, we only spent six months in London. When we moved back to Hartford, we'd found out that not only was Logan getting a divorce but Mitchum was also divorcing Shira. He'd found out that she'd been having an affair for years. Needless to say, we came back to Hartford to drama. A week after being back in Hartford, Colin and I decided to invite Logan and Mitchum over for dinner. Ellie was nervous. She was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that she had two dads. Colin tried to reassure her that just because she had two dads, that it didn't mean that anyone loved her any less. He also told her that she had enough room in heart to love the both of them. The dinner had gone better than anyone could have hoped.
Steph and Robert got engaged a month later, claiming that it was the next logical step. I tried to tell Steph that there wasn't a time frame even though the two of them had been together longer than Colin and I had. The night they had gotten engaged, Steph showed up at our house to find me asleep on the couch. Steph liked to joke that pregnancy made me boring. I couldn't help but laugh at that, because it was true.
3 months later found me and Colin at the hospital. I'd gone into pre-term labor. I'd woken up at three o'clock that morning having contractions. Fortunately, Ellie had been with Logan, claiming that she wanted to spend some time with her. He'd agreed and they'd gone to stay at Honor's house so that she'd at least have some other kids around. Colin had rushed me to the hospital while I called Mom on the way. They'd immediately gotten me into a room and paged my doctor who just happened to be Paris. She wasn't happy about being woken up at three in the morning but she knew that it was serious. She hooked me up to some Pitocin and after a couple of hours Paris came in and told me that they weren't going to be able to stop my contractions. She'd checked me and said that I was too far dilated for the contractions to stops. Six hours later, I'd given birth to a healthy baby girl even though she was slightly premature. Colin and I had decided to name her, Isabella Marie McCrea. Colin was extremely happy. I mean he loved Ellie, but he'd gotten to be apart of everything this time around.
Two years after Isabella was born, Colin and I had gotten pregnant again. This time it was twin boys. Mom said it was karma considering I'd already had two girls. We named them Richard Lucas (after grandpa and Luke) and Jamie Elias (Logan had been named as his godfather).
Ellie and Logan had gotten close over the years, her finally understanding what it meant to have two Dads and the fact that Logan had a lot to learn about her after not being around for the first part of her life. The biggest surprise to everyone was when Logan and Juliet had started dating. Logan had showed up one night after Ellie had gone to bed and told us that he and Juliet had been dating for a while and that he wanted to officially introduce Ellie to her. It had shocked Colin and myself. We didn't even know that he was dating anyone. What surprised me even more was when Ellie came home from Christmas with Logan's family and told us that she was getting a second mommy. Not gonna lie it hurt a little, but then it clicked that Logan had proposed to Juliet after only 7 months of dating. We couldn't have been happier for him though. He and I had a hard road and then he'd had an even harder road with Odette. The only singles ones in the group were Rosemary and Finn. They'd decided to be the fun Aunt and Uncle in the group.
Last year was a hard one. Grandma had passed away. She'd had a heart attack in her Nantucket home. Berta had been gone with her family, Grandma claiming that she'd be okay for a day or two by herself. Mom and I had been the ones to find her. We'd left the kids with Colin and Logan, deciding to go check on her. Despite Mom and Grandma not getting along the majority of my life, Mom had been crushed. I'd had to call Luke and Colin to come help me, thus Colin leaving all of the kids with Logan and Juliet (of course they didn't mind). The funeral had been beautiful. Grandma already had everything planned out, everything just had to be put in place.
Despite the way that Colin and I had started out and the rough patches that we'd had over the years, we'd built a beautiful life for ourselves. It wasn't until Ellie's graduation from Chilton that I realized that that Mom had been right about something that she'd said to me when I'd told her that I was pregnant with Ellie. She'd told me that in life things having a way of coming full circle. And I realized that she was right. I may have started my journey with Ellie similar to Mom with me but it was more than that now. We had a huge family blood and well as non-blood family. But family is just that family. It's more than just the people that you are related to. It's about the people in your life that care about you.
"You okay?" Colin asked me pulling me from my thoughts.
"Yeah. I was just thinking about the life that we've had together." I said, watching Ellie with her friends.
"It has been a good one hasn't it?" He asked.
I nodded. "It has. Granted definitely not the way we originally imagined it but good none the less." I told him. I leaned over and kissed him. "I love you." I said.
"I love you, always." He said.
A/N: Okay that's it. This story is finished. Writing this story made me think about the first GG story that I ever completed. I'd written it as an AYITL continuation but instead of Colin it was with Logan. It was what I pictured happening (Somewhat). Anyway, that story was short just like this one. I hope that you guys liked this story and I have more stories coming your way they just need editing. Happy Holidays!
