So the day finally arrives that I decide to take out Jaden Yuki in a duel. Crowler had been hounding me for days and days to duel him already. Ever since I got here he asks me the same damn question.
"A lot of money was used to get you here," Crowler told me at lunch. "Do you have any idea of the favors I had to pull just to get your sorry ass out here! I allowed you access to the best dueling school in the world in good faith. I offer you the finest luxuries, more than you deserve. It's been a month and you still haven't beaten Jaden. My patience is growing thin, Conner Kenjiro. Either you duel Jaden or I will terminate our agreement."
"You want to do that, fine," I said. "I'm still going to make more with my weekly allowance than you ever will on a yearly salary."
Crowler knows I'm right. He takes out a pink handkerchief and pulls on it with his teeth as he makes an angry face.
"Seriously, Crowler, do you really think I need this place, Crowler? No. I thirst for challenges. I don't care about grades. I don't care about exams. I don't care about the school's ranking system. I could easily outrank that poser Zane if I put in the effort. But I'm not. If you want me to take Jaden out so bad, fine. I'll do it after school. I just require a little something."
"What now?"
"Nothing costly. I just need you to pull some more strings and grant me the license to open my shop and cafe here. That's all. If you can do that, Jaden goes down this afternoon."
"Very well," Crowler walks away.
Man, just who does that guy think he is anyway? Bossing me around like that. My butler at home probably makes more money than he does. I throw away the trash from my lunch and head into the hall to my next class. Who should I meet but the little blue-haired kid who always hangs around Jaden.
I wonder what he's doing all by himself. He usually sticks to Jaden like a remora to a shark. Those two are always together no matter what. Wasting no time, I approach the kid. For some reason, he shivers and stutters at me like he's just seen a ghost.
"What's your deal?" I tell him.
"Nothing," he says. "It's just that I've heard of you. Jaden talks a lot about you."
"He does?"
"Yeah. He looks forward to facing you in a duel. He said it would be fun to play against you."
"Fun?" I said. "He thinks it's going to be fun. He's a really laid-back kind of guy, isn't he?"
"You said it," said Syrus. "Nothing phases Jaden at all. He just wants to have a good time and make friends. It's what I like the most about him. You see, some of the guys here treat duel monsters as a way of life. Their job almost. They're all serious when they play and it makes me nervous. Jaden doesn't care about all that. Aside from the fame, the glory, and the fortune that could result of being pro duelist, Jaden just sees duel monsters for what it really is. A game."
"Well...yeah. It really is just a game. But you know something, Syrus. A lot of the guys here are just wannabe Seto Kaibas or edgelords. Like that Zane asshole everyone keeps praising."
"Yeah...asshole," as Syrus fools around with his thumbs and looks away nervously.
"Something wrong, Syrus?" I asked.
"No. Nothing's wrong," he said.
"Okay. Well, if you happen to come across Jaden, let him know that I'm waiting for him in front of the school. I challenge him to a duel."
"A duel? Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I think he'll make for a worthy opponent."
"If you say so," said Syrus. "I'll let him know you'll be waiting for him."
The bell starts ringing.
"Well, got to go," Syrus says. He walks away.
I wait eagerly for the school day to end. Especially the final day of class. It seems to take hours and hours but finally, the final bell of the day rings. I pick up my stuff. As I get ready, I see Alexis and two of her friends Kami, Wisteria, and Alice looking down at me like they're going to kill me. They notice I'm staring at them. They grab their things and leave in unison.
"Man," I said. "What's their deal?"
Toshiro as usual comes down when he's least expected and puts his arm around my neck. "Dude! I just heard the news! You and Jaden Yuki are going to duke it out now?"
"Yeah. Man, news travels fast around here, doesn't it."
"Dude! Do you have any idea how big this is? You guys are the talk of the school. You and your fighters! Jaden beating the shit out of that Dr. Crowler! Some say you two have got the potential to take the crown from Zane. Of course, my money's riding on you. And hey, if you happen to need security for that new establishment of yours, I know some guys who would be more than happy to take the job."
"They better hope it's okay to work without pay. I'm not looking for security. We have plenty of systems that will keep an eye on the place. Let me go, man. I have a duel."
He follows me outside. At the entrance, we see Yukime checking out a big poster of Seto Kaiba. It appears his deck was going on display pretty soon. It was about to go on tour around the world for all to see and so was Yugi Muto's deck. Since Duel Academy was created by Kaiba Corp, Seto Kaiba's deck was coming first.
I thought it would be an amazing thing to see. I've always wanted to check out the Blue-Eyes White Dragon for myself. Maybe one day I could get the chance to beat it. Yukime leans on the rail to get a better look at the poster. As she does, me and Toshiro can see the exquisite curve of her butt. It was nice and smooth. The best part was that it was all mine.
"Your girl's got good taste," said Toshiro.
The fun ends when Conrad Knight and his gang approach her, causing me to spring into action. Conrad stops and checks out my girl's ass.
"Hey, there, Yukime. I see you're getting a great look at the deck I'm going to one day beat."
"You? Beating Seto Kaiba?" she said.
"Yeah, you know I can," he bragged as his buddies laugh. "Why don't you come by my dorm and I'll show you the deck that will defeat Seto Kaiba one day?"
I arrive and put my arm over Yukime's shoulder. "Sorry, but you're not my type," I said.
"Oh, so it's you," said Conrad. "Still haven't gotten rid of the trash, Yukime?"
"Apparently not. You're still here," she said.
Ouch.
Conrad only glares at her and walks away. Yukime sticks his tongue out at him then I lead her outside. At the entrance, April was waiting for me and Yukime.
"Hey, Conner," said April.
"Hey," I said.
"How was your day?" said Yukime. "Say, Conner, April and I heard something while we were in gym class."
"Let me guess you heard Jaden Yuki and me are going to duel, right?"
"Well, yeah. As soon as we heard, we ran all the way out here to watch you. Say, where is Jaden anyway?"
"There he is," said Yukime.
Yes. There he was. The great one himself. Jaden Yuki. The brown-haired kid was sitting by one of the stone statues lining the path to school. He was with Syrus and this really big dude who looked like a bear.
"That's Chumley Huffington," said Toshiro. "Shit duelist but he packs a punch so watch out."
"I'm not here to start a fight. It's time to duel Jaden and get Crowler off my back."
I walk to Jaden and introduce myself.
"You know who I am?" I asked.
"Yeah, I sure do," Jaden said with a smile. "You're Conner Kenjiro. Man, I heard a lot of cool things about you. You run a deck with fusion monsters like I do."
"You have a fusion deck?" I asked. "Oh, that's right. You have those Elemental HERO cards. I'd like to see them."
"And I wanna see your Souten monsters, Conner. Let's duel. This is gonna be sweet."
"Good luck, Jaden," said Chumley.
Jaden runs to the end of the stone path and I set up on the other to give our holograms enough space. I take out my deck and have April and Yukime blow on it for good luck before I put it on my duel disk.
Jaden is impressed by my duel disk. "Whoa, dude. Nice tech you got there. That's the deck Seto Kaiba used to try out those new Blue-Eyes monsters, right?"
"Yeah. I got it as a gift for enrolling in this place. You won't believe what the higher-ups pulled just to get me to come here. All right, mind if I start first, Jaden."
"Not at all, Conner. Get your game on!"
"You got it, Jaden!" I said and draw my card. "I play the field spell, Two As One, and add Koukokou of the Souten Kicks to my hand. Next, I summon White Tiger Summoner!" My monster appears in front of me. It's a bald guy in black robes with 1000 ATK.
"My White Tiger Summoner lets me summon a level 4 or lower normal monster from my hand. I summon Yamatomo Dragon Scroll!" as I summon a scroll that opened up and summoned a red Chinese dragon with 900 ATK.
"My White Tiger Summoner also increases the ATK of all my monsters by 100 points. Got anything to beat that, Jaden?"
"Cool," said Jaden. "I've got just the thing to take you on. But first, I play Pot of Greed. Two new cards should give me an advantage over you, Conner. Now I activate Polymerization and fuse together Elemental HERO Avian and Burstinatrix to summon Elemental HERO Flame Wingman!"
He summons a hero with one angel wing and a red dragon head for an arm and 2100 ATK.
"Flame Wingman, attack Conner's White Tiger Summoner with Skydive Scorcher!"
His monster gets enveloped in flames and flies toward my monster. He uses his dragon head to kill my White Tiger Summoner.
"Now to activate Flame Wingman's super power!" said Jaden. "He will inflict damage to your LP equal to the ATK of the monster he just wiped out."
All of a sudden Flame Wingman holds his dragon head arm at me and shoots fire from its mouth. My LP is now 1900 already. Yukime and April call out my name in shock. Usually, I'm the one dominating the matches. But Jaden just kicked my ass in one turn.
"Conner!" shouted Toshiro. "Come on, man! Pull through! You're still in this one buddy."
Meanwhile, Chumley and Syrus cheer.
"Yeah! You showed him!" said Chumley.
"Way to play Jay!" Syrus said.
Man, this kid is strong. I sure did underestimate him. But I was ready.
"Sweet!" said Jaden. "I throw down three face-downs and end my turn!"
"Not bad, Jaden! I'll start off by activating my own Pot of Greed for two extra cards. Now let's see if I'm the one who has the advantage. Time to fight fusion with fusion. First, I activate the spell, Fusion Deployment. With this, I can special summon the fusion material of a fusion monster in my extra deck. I chose my heavenly general, so I get to summon my buddy, Yuuhi of the Souten Fists!"
My black-robed fighter comes out punching the air and shows off his 1800 ATK.
"Hey, that monster is pretty sweet, Conner."
"You really are enjoying yourself, aren't you?" I said.
"Hell yeah! I've heard a lot about your fusion monsters, Conner. Time to see which one of them is the best."
"Indeed we will, Jaden. Watch this! First, I tribute Yamatomo Dragon Scroll to summon Tiger Dragon!" as the scroll disappears and summons a dragon that almost resembles a tiger and it was strong with 2400 ATK.
"Nice monster you got there Conner!" said Jaden.
"Don't get too chummy with him yet!" I said. "When Tiger Dragon is tribute summoned by using a dragon monster, I can destroy two spell or trap cards on your side of the field."
Tiger Dragon blew fire from his mouth and shattered two of Jaden's cards, leaving only the middle one left. I hope it wasn't something he could use against me.
"Now, Jaden, I activate Yuuhi's special ability. By sending him to the GY, I can activate his effect and add a Souten spell card to my hand. Here it is! Souten Calling! I discard a card from my hand and summon four Souten Spirit tokens."
My field is flooded by the token monsters one by one.
"And I'll use these tokens to conduct a fusion summon! First, I'll send away two tokens to summon Gaia of the Souten Fists!"
My tokens burst into flames. Gaia comes out and punches the air. His 2100 ATK display next to him.
"Aww, cool!" said Jaden.
"Now, for my second fusion!" I said. "I send away Koukokou from my hand and use two more tokens to summon Dual Sky General Mitsujaku in defense mode!"
I summon a fighter with white armor and 3000 DEF points.
"Sorry, Jaden, but my Souten monsters won't be so cool after this. See, when I control another Souten fusion monster, Gaia will increase their ATK and DEF by 300 points. Also, when Gaia is summoned, he can automatically destroy one of your monsters."
"Flame Wingman!" Jaden cried.
Gaia runs to flame wingman and punches him in the stomach. His monster breaks into triangles leaving him wide open for my Tiger Dragon.
"Tiger Dragon, attack Jaden directly!" I said.
"Hold up!" said Jaden. "I activate the trap card, Draining Shield. This stops your monster's attack and increases my LP by the ATK of your monster."
"Oh no!" said April. "Jaden's LP is now at 6400!"
"Yeah, he's in the lead," said Yukime.
"Big deal!" said Toshiro. "Conner still has a line of top dog monsters. Jaden's got no chance."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that," said Yukime. "Jaden has been known to turn the tide of battle every time he has his back against the wall."
"You saved yourself, for now, Jaden," I said. "I set a card face-down and end my turn."
"My turn, Conner!" said Jaden. "First I summon Elemental HERO Prisma!" his crystal hero comes out. He flies next to Jaden. "And I'll activate its effect! I reveal a fusion card and send one of its materials to the GY"
"And my General Mitsujaku's effect activates!" I said. "When your monster activates an effect and I have two fusion monsters, I can destroy that monster."
Mistujaku has feet that are so strong, his kicks shattered the diamond warrior Jaden summoned like wood.
"It's not going to end well for you, Conner!" said Jaden. "I activate Miracle Fusion! With this card, I can fusion summon by banishing monsters in my GY. I fuse Elemental HERO Flame Wingman and Avian to create Elemental HERO Great Tornado!"
He summons a warrior in a green black and yellow suit and a black cape with 2800 ATK.
"And my hero comes with a cool effect of his own, Conner! When he's summoned, I can halve the ATK of all your monsters."
"What! No way!" I shouted.
Great Tornado summons heavy winds that weaken my monsters. Yukime and April scream as they hold their skirts down to keep people from seeing their panties.
"Why does this always happen!" Yukime wailed.
"Should have known to expect this! Hrmph!" April said.
"Elemental HERO Great Tornado attack his Gaia of the Souten Fists!" said Jaden.
Great Tornado flies to Gaia but he blocks the E-HERO's attack with his fists. My LP still takes 1600 damage but he's still standing."
"What's going on?" said Chumley. "Great Tornado should have destroyed Conner's monster!"
"Heh heh heh," I laugh. "Thanks to my general, my monsters are not killed the first time they would be destroyed by battle."
"Aw, man!" said Jaden. "I...I end my turn."
"Almost got me there, Jaden!" I said. "Let's see if I can change the tide of this match. Draw! I play Reinforcement of the Army and add Yuuhi of the Souten Fists to my hand. Now I use Two As One's effect to summon a token. Then, I activate the trap card, Souten's Duty. I banish a Souten card from my GY and Souten's Duty becomes that card. I banish Souten Calling."
"Yes!" Toshiro cheers. "Now Conner can summon those tokens and summon stronger fighters!"
"I discard a card to activate Souten's Duty," I said. After the next token came out, that's when I made my move. "Then I combine two tokens with Yuuhi to create the great Kongou, Heavenly General of the Souten!"
My golden fighter comes out of the light that took away Yuuhi and the tokens. His 3000 ATK is a breath of fresh air for me. Then I sent away Mitsujaku and the weakened Gaia away to summon a new Gaia of the Souten Fists. And he's stronger than ever, increasing his ATK and Kongou's ATK by 300.
Gaia then used his effect to blow up Elemental HERO Great Tornado. Jaden is wide open for a direct attack by Kongou and Tiger Dragon. He still had 1200 ATk and combined with my heavenly general, Jaden's LP went down to 1900 LP. Jaden draws and sets a trap card, but it doesn't matter. Kongou prevents my opponent from activating spells or traps until the damage phase has ended.
And with my Kongou's golden fists, I ended the legend of Jaden Yuki. He falls on his back after getting punched and his LP roll down to 0.
"Conner wins!" Yukime and April cry out together.
"See, girls? What did I tell you? You gotta put more faith in Conner."
"No way," said Syrus. "Jaden lost?"
"Not licious," said Chumley.
I let my friends party behind me while I walk to Jaden and help him up.
"Good duel," I said.
"Yeah, you sure got the best of me. You know that was really fun, Conner."
"Yeah," I said.
He and I smile at each other.
"You know Conner," Jaden said. "Our dorm isn't that far from here. If you want maybe we can work on our skills some more."
"That will be the bomb, Jaden!" I said.
April, Yukime, and Toshiro stop celebrating as they see me and Jaden walking away with our arms over one another's shoulders. We laugh as we head down the path, happy to put that duel behind us and become friends.
Alexis POV
"So Jaden lost huh?" Alexis said as she was sitting in a tub having a nice hot bubble bath.
"So it seems," said Alice. She uses a sponge to wash Alexis's back. "And it looks like the two of them became good friends."
"This just gets worse and worse," said Alexis. "I can't believe Jaden would lose to that guy."
"Want me to assemble the girls for another meeting?" Alice asked. She blushed as Alexis rose her leg out of the water so she could wash it herself.
"No, sister, we have a big test in a couple of days. We need to study for that. After that's done, we can focus on getting back at Conner Kenjiro."
"Then let me have a go at him," said a pink-haired guy.
Alice gasps but Alexis is as cool as a rock despite being naked in front of a guy. The bubbles were also thick enough to cover her body from him.
"Loen?" said Alexis. "It's you."
"Got that right." He holds up a duel disk covered with glowing roses. "I'm going next, any problem with that?"
Alexis smiled at him. "He's all yours."
