Chapter 1: duel with Kagemaru and the beast trial
Jaden overlooked the strange formations around the academy. He knew something was up. And he squared his shoulders for a big confrontation.
There were pillars rising up, with pointy tips. These pillars were as large as buildings.
"The hell? The keys to the Seven Spirit Gates…?" Chazz Princeton said, while being a bit nervous.
They were glowing on Princeton's neck. Jaden had already noticed the weird effects as the keys started levitating. Something really bad was happening.
Then, the keys levitated off, and broke the flimsy necklace holding them.
"Go after them." Jaden ran after them, he ordered his friends to follow him.
Then, they felt a big earthquake ahead, right in the middle of those pillars. Each of the keys glowed and entered a pillar, like they were intangible objects.
Maybe the Seven Spirit Gates would be opening soon. Jdaen knew that some disaster was about to happen.
Then, from the ground, a technological lift carried a metal briefcase. And then the center of it glowed, and within three cards.
"So those are the sacred beasts." Jaden could feel their power calling to him.
"I cannot give those cards to you." From an airplane, a machine dropped.
A weird contraption with a test-tube holding a human in suspension.
A man laughed, the man inside of the test tube. He warned them that the Sacred Beasts were his. The Principal paled as he recognized the Chairman, Kagemaru. Kagemaru would now commence the ritual to revive those Sacred Beasts. The man was old and decrepit, he was the one who set this all up.
The keys were all a facade made to force Jaden and the others to fight the Seven Stars, to raise the spirits of the duelists of this place. Jaden narrowed his eyes as the man approached the cards. Kagemaru owned those cards and acquired them many years ago, to the surprise of every person here.
The secret power of the cards was immortality and world domination if the person played their cards right.
To revive these cards, all this theater was needed.
So he wants to have eternal life, looking at that old body.
Jaden thought as he made preparations.
"Stop feeding us that nonsense. So we were all used by you from the very beginning?" Alexis Rhodes said. as she herself. narrowed her expression.
Zane and the others were also ticked off for being used like that, and just for this?
Both Zane and Chazz wanted to be the ones to fight against Kagemaru.
However, the man himself only had eyes on one duelist from the very beginning of this act. Jaden was the one chosen, the duelist that took the academy by storm.
"It would be meaningless without you, he who holds the most power to control spirits."
To aggravate the situation, the pillars started having an electric feedback ,and then a threat was made: if the challenge wasn;t accepted, then Kagemaru would sink the island.
Guess it's time to duel then. I was going to do it in the first place.
Then, from underneath the machinery, was a duelling disk. And then, the man picked up the cards. Approaching him was very dangerous with all the weapons imbued in his test tube walking machine. In fact, Jaden wanted to pick them up before the man could, but there are a lot of unknowns this time around, playing cheeky and losing his own life for it was not a welcome idea.
He fished for his deck, and then in his bag, he came across a card. This was Professor Lyman Banner's card.
Are you telling me to use this, teacher?
Jaden still hadn't forgotten his intense duel, and the sadness of it all.
Alright, I'll put my beliefs in this card you left behind.
With the disks eaddy, and the cards drawn, the duel that would decide the fate of this Academy began, Jaden felt nervous, but not because of the duel itself, no… There was something else here at play.
He was going against the three sacred beast cards, and proving his worth against them. This would not be a normal duel.
And then, right on the first turn, a sacred beast was summoned. To the surprise of everyone, Uria, Lord of the Searing Flames was summoned. Uria's special effect was one that Jaden was not prepared for; it destroyed the trap cards in his field.
Are you the one?
My brothers and I shall test you. If you fail, you shall be cast into the deepest fires.
The sacred beast spoke to him, yet nobody heard it, not even the Chairman Kagemaru.
While Kagemaru was a great duelist, there was no way he was using those sacred beasts right. Jaden closed his eyes and then glared at Kagemaru, making the man in the test tube finch for just a inch.
In the next turn he turned it around by placing three trap cards, making Kagemaru laugh, however the special effect would only be activated in Kagemaru's turn. Then, Jaden killed the first sacred beast in one turn, dropping the man's LP to only 3200.
Then, the man made a mistake in trying to summon Uria again, because after destroying the trap card, it activated, sending a volley of 5000 ATK damage back to Kagemaru.
"Idiot… Did you think I would be surprised by the same move?" Jaden said quietly, why do the same move when the opponent already knew it was going to happen.
Kagemaru's LP dropped to 2000. Then the rest of the gang, as well as the enemy were surprised at how tough Jaden had become, and how well he responded to these new threats.
Hahaha… It seems you are quite something. Uria spoke to him, before going to the cemetery again.
Jaden next turn set two magic cards and one trap card down, then used a pot of greed to draw more cards.
Then, the next turn Kagemaru summoned Uria again, and then by setting three magic cards on the field, The next sacred beast joined its brother in battle. Hamon, the golden lord of thunder.
It seems my brother is taken with you, now let's see your metal, child. Hamon went to the sky in all its golden splendor.
This turn Jaden faced both beasts attacks, dropping to 2100 LP, making it a very harsh crushing blow. However, Jaden did not move a single inch and took in their attacks. Kagemaru said that he needed Jaden's power to control the spirits, and Jaden felt the sense of wrongness rise again. There was definitely something else at play.
And then, as the beasts started collecting power by being in the field, and then granting Kagemaru eternal youth.
The man's body seemed to swell, and his decrepit hair turned into a wild black. The body grew all the muscles and the man turned into a bodybuilder athlete. Crushing the test tube machine he was in. Kagemaru's foot crushed the leaves on the ground where he landed., And the disk came with him. He didn't need these machines to support his body anymore.
Now Kagemaru looked like a 20 year old man, instead of the ancient guy he was before. To make matters worse, the man threw the machine outside of the rings, with his pure strength. The man laughed at his youth and power.
"Is that all…?" Jaden asked with narrowed eyes. "Hey, sacred beasts, you truly have a shitty master."
Why are you so confident Jaden, are you sure you can win this?
Alexis was a bit troubled and anxious at seeing how confident Jaden looked, this duel wasn't to be taken lightly, her heart pounded with fear.
The sacred beasts were a bit confused, they were testing Jaden, but it seemed like he was testing them instead. Kagemaru was ignored by Jaden as he claimed he would eat Jaden's soul.
The rounds went on as Jaden invalidated all the attacks from the sacred beasts like it was nothing. Making Kagemaru pale as Jaden was neve in any danger.
"Professor was always concerned for you, though it seems you were always a scumbag."
"...What? He was a puppet in my game board, as are you."
And then, just as Kagemaru was sweating, Jaden destroyed both the sacred beasts in the field.
"Why won't you summon your third sacred beast. I'll show you, and them what a real heart is." Jaden called him and the beasts out. Making the beasts feel the fervor from Jaden, the one they were trying to test.
Kagemaru, after sweating so much, laughed.
Then, after calming down, Kagemaru revived all of his beasts once again, then finally, finally summoned the third of his beasts. Raviel, the Lord of Phantasms was summoned. The blue warrior from the deep, ready to kill its enemies wherever they stood. A blend of red, blue and golden was before Jaden.
Are you prepared…? Uria roared.
Of course he is, otherwise we will kill him. Hamon screeched
Now Jaden Yuki, it's time to finally show us. Raviel whispered.
"Kagemaru, you are just pitiable..." Jaden looked at the laughing Kagemaru, being baked in power as the beasts absorbed the power of the spirits across the globe, now that they were together.
After so many turns, Jaden's LP fell to 500. HOwever, he still had his eyes closed, and a smile on his face. He had destroyed them so many times, and yet Kagemaru kept summoning them like it was jis lifeline.
However, Kagemaru's LP was only 700 at this point. The match could go either way to those watching, but Jaden and the beasts knew Kagemaru was finished.
Jaden used the Professor's precious card to summon the last hero card he had. And then equipped with him, two magic cards that powered up his ATK for how many heroes were in the cemetery, and how many opponents were in the field.
His ATK was now 15,000, and it made Kagemeru finally realize how lacking he was.
"You aren't worthy of those cards… All you want to do is cause harm. It's over for you, Kagemaru." As the massive attack descended on Kagemaru, the three sacred beasts smiled.
Alexis was surprised by how confident Jaden was, and her opinion of him changed after seeing his smile.
Jaden was victorious, and after having the power he stole released from Kagemaru's body, the man turned into a husk once again.
Then… the three cards mysteriously disappeared from sight. Making Jaden and the others quite nervous. However, there was nothing that could have been done after searching for the whole day for them.
The next week was graduation day, and now the promotion exams were coming up. However, Jaden felt very excited as he started his walk towards school.
However, in front of him were three young men of his age.
One had red ponytail hair and blue eyes, with a light complexion on his face, and terrifying teeth. The other one had blonde hair and was kind of out of it, and then the last one had blue hair and red eyes, and was the most intimidating one, being the tallest.
Jaden narrowed his eyes, their aura, they felt just like the sacred beasts did.
The blue and red one approached, and then the golden one became serious all of the sudden. "Jaden Yuki… you won our duel, you have proven to be the better dueler by far."
"You are the sacred beasts, I didn't know you had human forms."
"My name is Raviel, I hope that we are able to have a pleasant relationship from now on. Jaden, we shall follow you, from now on."
"That was a great showing yesterday kid, the fact you remained cool even when facing us gave me quite the shock. I can help; you with both duels and girls. I'm Uria" He was a little bit more sleazy compared to the brothers.
The golden one then named himself. "I'm surprised you didn't die, I guess you're somewhat special. Thanks for liberating us from that old man. I'll definitely repay this debt. My name is Hamon, but you already knew that."
"Hehe… I guess I've earned myself three great friends. Nice to meet you."
Jaden fearlessly took the handshake from Raviel, and then the other two. Things were about to become much more interesting. Though, there was still a nagging feeling that wouldn't go away.
