Chapter 2: A different way in season 2.

Jaden watched over as Zane fell to the floor. The score was 200 LP vs 0. Jaden had won against Kaiser in the last match before he graduated. Jaden felt accomplished but a bit sad knowing that Zane Truedale had a difficult career in professional dueling going forward.

When offered a hand, Zane had neglected it, it was a moment of pride for Zane, he got up and gave a smile to the new Kaiser, though unofficially.

"You'll keep the school while I'm away?" Zane closed his eyes.

"Yeah, leave it to me." Jaden smiled.

Alexis felt for the situation, but Jaden was a very tough duelist, those who neglected his growth are sure to get a good thrashing in a duel. Stil, this was a most unexpected win, since she didn't think that Kaiser would ever drop his guard around, even for a first year. Jaden has proved himself time and again, which made her angry knowing he was still in Slifer Red after all this time.

Kaiser hadn't dropped his guard, the best student lost to Jaden in a duel, Alexis could certainly feel a tension in the air, as Zane went towards the tunnel and out, it was such a close duel. Alexis could see the little brother running after Zane but still, Chazz Princeton who was also watching this felt a deep feeling from this match, Alexis couldn't guess the depths of.

Jaden was surely feeling a lot of things, was this a passing of the torch moment he should be glad of?

Perhaps it was, three tough-looking students approached Jaden as Alexis kept watch over him from the stands.

"You sure are pensive after you won that, you promised to become the best duelist, the road is harsh for the duelist who aims for the top, your opponent knows that more than anything else."

"You better not start thinking that you weren't supposed to have won. Because you were, you gave it your all, and you tried your hardest to win. Never forget that, become strong, Jaden."

"..." The last golden sacred beast kept quiet, but his glare was enough to knock some sense into Jaden. The road to the top was wrought with life-altering experiences, but Jaden had to do it, he would be even better.

I'm moving forward, I will become an unbeatable duelist, no matter what. Jaden grabbed his necklace and promised.

Alexis felt the need to improve herself as well, and Chazz who was pensive, had already left to look after strategies, the second year would be more difficult for those who wanted to aim for the very top. This would be a very interesting next year for all of them. Jaden left with the three tough-looking students, he wanted to train himself even further so that he could accomplish his dreams.

Jaden climbed and was already tired, and The Sacred Beasts led him to a secret grove full of vegetation and even wilder animals. It wouldn't be a wonder if some bear jumped on him all of a sudden, then he saw a massive waterfall. After that, there were caves, and further was a stiff cliffside that led to an immense mountain.

"It seems you are quite confused as to why we led you here..."

The three sacred beasts were there. They would work as a team and beat down any opponent with their powers. This was the deck that Kagemaru had used to try and beat the hero deck. However, Jaden was a tough duelist from the start. However, now the three humanized beasts had brought Jaden here to unlock his potential for dueling. The power of the soul, mind, and body would be relentlessly trained until the next term began. The next term would start in October, and he had four whole months starting today to train himself.

"You will train, you will study, and you will duel." All three sacred beasts pushed their palms, and light of red, blue, and golden flashed in their hands like small suns of their respective colors. Legendary decks had arrived in their hands. Even the Sacred Beasts—cards themselves had their respective decks. It wouldn't be weird if the decks contained their respective Sacred Beast cards and the decks focused on highlighting their cards. They would be tough opponents, maybe even tougher than Kagemaru ever was.

"You will duel each one of us 13 times every day."

"Huh, but that's a lot." Jaden was extremely surprised by the number of duels. That would be 39 duels every day!

"Repetition, and hard work trump genius every day, wouldn't you agree, Jaden...?"

Something told Jaden he would be losing against them more often than not.

"You will hunt your food with your bare hands."

"And you will study the encyclopedias you bought."

Jaden looked at his hand and cringed. He was lean and boyish, but he did not have the strength necessary to hunt for dinner. And the big books on the sack he brought were still heavy. He had to study, that thought was even worse than hunting for food.

"It's time for your mind, soul, and body to understand their place in this world. So where do you belong, Jaden Yuki?"

Jaden was intimidated, and it didn't seem like the three would let him run away from this grove, far away from civilization. The sacred beasts were weirdly particular about him, and their interest ran deeper than just Jaden winning against them in a match. He would be saying bye-bye to society for 4 months straight. Just the thought of it made Jaden sweat in nervousness. Still, after a few seconds, Jaden turned serious. His eyes possessed an indomitable will to succeed.

"Now, Jaden Yuki, where do you belong?"

"At the very top."

After four months, Jaden was now with a torn Silfer Red outfit, he was at least two sizes bigger now that he spent his time in the grove. He did all manner of crazy things, like scaling the mountain, scaling the wet waterfall, fighting bears, and running away from them when he realized he couldn't possibly beat them. Jaden smirked wryly at those memories. Dueling was a great time, and he finally got more wins than losses as time went on. Now he was at least four inches taller, though it was a combination of him still being on a growth spurt and eating large amounts of protein and doing exercises every day. His hair had grown so that he wrapped up a ponytail behind his hair, and his eyes became sharper and more accurate, like a hawk's. They tinged a little maroon, so they were a bit scary to look at.

Finally, the thing he was most proud of, strong abs and lean muscles, doing extreme exercises like climbing and swimming got him into tip-top shape for his age. He was quite happy with how his body was developing. Finally, he returned home, and there's a boat on the shore. New students were arriving, as the new term would start soon. At the time, Jaden didn't know how much things would change, and the new threat looming. The Society of Light would invade this school, and influence his most precious friends. Jaden had a tough battle going forward.

And it all started with a visit from a particular celebrity. Aster Phoenix had arrived.

He was like a storm, coming to challenge Jaden, however Jaden quickly finished the duel in only three turns. Later it was revealed that the boy had just used a random deck out of 8 booster packs. Then, the surprising moment shocked Jaden, when Aster Phoenix fought Zane in the Pros. Zane's career was just starting, and Aster revealed a deck of hero cards. Jaden was truly shocked.

Things turned for the worst when Princeton invaded the Obelisk Blue castle. It was a dormitory- but the installations looked more like a fantasy castle, much different than Silfer's Red dorm. The students there were all extremely powerful duelists, and even so-that arrogant Princeton walked right through, challenging the dormitory students one by one and crushing every single student. Alexis saw some trouble happening there, which made her want to challenge the new Chazz Princeton, like a lord ruling over the Obelisk 'White' dorm. It made her sick to the stomach when she saw the blinding white uniforms replacing the old regal blue ones. This was a plot by the Society of Light and its master, but Alexis had no clue about it yet and fell into the trap. She dueled the new Chazz Princeton, meanwhile on top of the school, another duel took place. Aster Phoenix had beaten Syrus to the ground, and this was the fourth time he tried to duel Jaden and was now looking forward to the duel against the new greatest duelist of the school. This was the fourth time, and all other three times he had lost, Sartorius predicted two of them that he-Aster Phoenix would triumph over Jaden, fate set in motion the result would happen. But both times, he had lost. The first one he'd lost with a bad deck, the other, with his full deck, and he had lost in the sixth turn. Before this happened, the third and last time was a duel he took completely seriously, yet he hadn't lasted 11 turns before he lost. Aster Phoenix was a pro dueler, and still, he had lost against a second-year student who never went professional. It was a blow of pride. The wind grew stronger as Jaden helped Syrus up, not knowing that Alexis was losing to the society of light below them. He faced Aster in the fourth duel between rivals as revenge for beating Syrus.

"Welcome to the light, we'll always be saved by the light. Our destiny will always be guided by the hands of fate!" Chazz Princeton walked forward, after defeating Alexis down below. She fell to the ground after a terrifying and blinding attack. Even after I trained so much, I'm sorry brother, Jaden.

Meanwhile, the Obelisk White Students all roared as the last holdout was only her brother left. He was surrounded, and ran away from the brainwashed students. He needed to seek help.

The fight above ended.

"But we're always guided by fate." Aster fell to his knees after his hero deck was defeated the third time by another hero deck. Similar fighting styles gave a clear sign of the one who was clearly more skilled. Jaden walked forward and extended a helping hand to Aster, the boy was a year below, and was quite skilled at dueling, maybe they'd be good friends. It was then that Jaden learned of Sartorius, a persuasive and intelligent—a fortune teller behind the Society of Light conspiracy.

"Jaden… please save my sister..." Alexis's brother was crawling up the stairs, Syrus was the first one to aid the injured senior, with Jaden and Aster following behind… The conspiracy was growing closer all around them. Jaden, grit his teeth, if there were dozens upon dozens of students being brainwashed, then he'd need some help. Aster put a reassuring hand on Jaden's shoulder, Syrus nodded. There was a lot to be done.

The next few weeks were a constant battle against Obeliks White. It all got worse when Sartorius, their leader, appeared. The three sacred beasts joined in as they were attacked by hordes and hordes of the Society of Light's members. Still, Chazz and Alexis were far away, Jaden had visited her dorm room many nights to talk to her as he evaded the tight security, but she always gave her an empty look. He looked into her eyes, and all he could feel was ice. Alexis needed to be saved by any means necessary. And finally, he was able to get a duel with her. However, seeing her cold face hurt his heart more than he cared to know. He never knew how much he felt for the blond student. They've been friends but never really closed the gap before, but he wanted something from her, and he felt angry that she was put into such a state.

Her cards contained all sorts of ice spells and ice creatures, the bone-chilling spirits assailed Jaden's body, it was different from when he liberated Chazz, his rival, from the brainwashing, this felt even more personal, and there was a wave of growing anger at Sartorius and his plans.

Even though it hurt, Jaden had to stoke the spirit of Alexis in the fight.

"So you're now controlled by Sartorius? You were much cooler and pretty before. Now you're just boring and uncool. Destiny and light, I'm already tired of this talk." He annoyed her extremely during this match. It was on purpose.

"What can you even do? You're just a nobody!"

"Listen, Alexis, and whether it's a cold night or not, the morning dawn will come. I'll take this uncool phase of yours and grind it into the ground. Do you understand, Alexis? I am the one who will crush you to the ground." Jaden had harsh eyes as a golden aura came from his shoulders as a wisp of power. Alexis met his fearful gaze with empty ones, but there was a flash of something in those eyes. Jaden was furious, and his harsh comments had reached her depths. He was sure of it.

And finally, after a grueling night of dueling alone in an empty stadium. Alexis fell to the floor. However, Jaden had reached her before she could fall all the way. He held her close and didn't let go.

"Why are you hugging me this hard, you dummy." She felt his lean muscles from beneath his clothes and blushed red.

"Sorry, I was just happy for some reason." He still kept hugging her, taking away all the cold from before. Alexis had the faintest idea of why he was so emotional, but her mind was still foggy. Still, when she saw that a single tear of his rolled down, she felt this was something serious, and she was involved in something bad. Then she remembered all the nights he came to visit her and turned bright red before passing out. She was still so exhausted. Later on, she woke up in Jaden's bed, alone in the Silfer Red dorm. Alexis looked at his bedsheets and hugged them. Now remembering the trouble she had been and how hard Jaden fought to free her. Her heart beat faster and faster.

"Where did you go, dummy Jaden." She murmured. However, she knew. It was time to face Sartorius and bring an end to the Society of Light. Jaden had probably rushed to confront him.

She looked back at the duel last night and cringed at the moves she made in the duel. If she were in control, she would have duelled much better. "Next time, I won't lose, Jaden. I'll bring you to your knees." Alexis giggled to herself as she thought of the sight of the high and mighty Jaden kneeling. As if that would ever happen to him. She was sure he'd stand up to any enemy that threatened them.

Alexis felt faint as only images of Jaden circled her mind, and she smiled quietly while hearing the sea roar.

"Battle, The End-Of Ray." Sartorius said as he smiled as the power of light coursed through his body as he summoned The Light Ruler, his trump card to fight against Jaden. Jaden, who was surviving the duel until now, was blown back towards the stands. His body was lacerated by the objects he hit until he stopped and punched the ground to stop his acceleration, however his legs couldn't hold him, and he fell to the floor. Alexis arrived to see Jaden be hit with such a tremendous attack and she cried out for his name. Sartorius just laughed.

The other students along with Syrus were fighting all of Obelisk White, the mind-controlled students, it was an endurance contest against hordes and hordes of duelists. And in the forefront defeating those students were the Sacred Beasts disguising themselves as students. "Now, Jaden, what will you do? Are you going to just disappoint us? Or…"

"Jaden, what are you doing, get up!" Alexis said with a complicated face as she saw Jaden lying down in front of his enemy. Jaden never gave up.

His Life Points hit 300. Jaden had a faded look on his face as he sighed. He looked at Alexis who had arrived, she looked livelier than before, that was a relief. Aster and Syrus were working hard to bring the academy back to normal ,and he could not falter here. He just needed to beat Sartorius and end this farce once and for all.

Jaden raised himself as he heard the spirits calling for him. His eyes turned deep golden, a look that scared Sartorius, but not Alexis. He summoned the Elemental Heroes from the graveyard. He used field magic to bring them into Neo-Space even as Sartorius was caught into those golden eyes of Jaden. There was an uncontainable fury inside of Jaden, and it needed to be unleashed. And from there, he summoned Neos back into the field, and another hero card, contact fusing them into greater heights. Then, the powerful hero Gran Neos.

"You can't stop me Jaden! This light of heaven shall destroy all and make the new world be reborn anew under the light! I will create a peaceful utopia! It's destruction and renewal! You understand that quite clearly Jaden!" The man went mad as he tried drawing more power from his supposed light, but the shadowy golden eyes of Jaden seemed to be destroying all the light instead. Those eyes were akin to death, once you looked at it, you might as well be imprisoned in a dark space for all time.

"I don't want to live in any Utopia you create, much less one without my comrades and Alexis. You're done for Sartorius."

"Who are you, Jaden? Who are you—What are you?!" Sartorius screamed as Gran Neos reached 6000 ATK from the cards Jaden supplemented it.

"Just your worst nightmare, Sartorius! Wrath of Gran Neos!" Jaden yelled as Gran Neos attacked, sending Sartorius and his plan to the hell of deep space. As Jaden fell back to earth, he thought of a single card from his past. Space, huh? That card had been sent to space hadn't it. Why were these memories suddenly affecting him all the sudden?

Alexis caught his body as she hugged him, and the duel ended with Sartorius and his plans in ruins. The students were lost as the brainwashing went away, and the sacred beasts could relax after defeating piles and droves of duelists. Jaden's friends all breathed a sigh of relief as the terror had come to end, finally.

And Jaden slept as Alexis hugged him harder. Everything leading up to this had been a harsh battle after another. Alexis hugged him even harder, determined to never lose sight of things again.
