A/N:
I was not planning on making a sequel to Nakamori and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad KID Heist; but I thought of this and couldn't just not write it, so...
Technically, this is standalone, but I would recommend reading the other one for the full experience.
Also, possible OOC-ness because I don't exactly think canon Conan would do this but the Conan I've handcrafted within my mind would, so...
Uh, hope you enjoy!
"Ran-neechan?" Conan asked as he was finishing up his dinner. He figured this conversation may be best to have while they don't have much food on their plates.
"Yes, Conan-kun?" She replied.
"What does fuck mean?"
Ran made a sudden choking noise and soon covered her mouth as she began uncontrollably coughing. Kogoro just looked mildly surprised.
After taking a second to let her coughing fit pass, Ran took a couple sips of water, then asked with a dangerous tone to her voice, "Where did you hear that, Conan-kun?"
"Last night, at the KID heist!" He cheerfully answered, ignoring the fierce anger he could clearly see on the girl's face. "I heard Inspector Nakamori say it. I tried asking him what it means but he didn't tell me." He said with a slight whine.
"Oh, is that so..?" She tightly gripped her fork, almost bending it in half.
Conan nearly shuddered at the furious anger that bristled off of her.
The poor Inspector. He really didn't deserve to have Ran's wrath directed towards him like this. However, he might've kicked Conan out of heist or brushed off his deductions (which always turned out to be right, of course) once too many, and pettiness was a strong emotion.
"There's more too!" He continued much to the dismay of Ran (and probably Nakamori too, if he were to hear the conversation). "He also said bitch, and shit, and asshole. What do those mean?"
Ran had flinched with each word he said, her face increasingly reddening with anger, and Kogoro looked almost impressed and definitely amused if the smile he was hiding with his hand was anything to go by.
Ran took a moment to calm down then said, "You shouldn't say those words, Conan-kun."
"Eh, why not?"
"They're bad words and you are not allowed to say them, understand?" She said scarily.
"Okay." He obliged, not wanting to risk his safety anymore. However he still asked, "But what do they mean?"
Ran gripped her already broken fork, again. "That is not something you should know."
"Why does everyone keep saying that!?" He whined. "I'm a big boy! I can handle it!" He pouted and crossed his arms. (Sometimes being in the body of a child had its perks.)
Kogoro tried to stifle a laugh, but Conan and Ran definitely heard. Ran sent him a terrifying glare which promptly shut him up.
Ran turned back to Conan. "Listen, young man." Conan couldn't help a shiver as he heard the anger in her voice. "As long as you live under my house, my rules, you will not say or ask about any of those words, got it?" She said through gritted teeth.
"Y-yes..." Conan nervously nodded his head and, he too, promptly shut up.
(And Kogoro didn't even care to mention that it was technically his house and his rules.)
Ran stood up and picked up her plate. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to get to bed a bit earlier tonight because I have a certain Inspector to talk to tomorrow before school."
At the police station, an intern walked nervously down the halls.
There was no case that needed to be solved or anything; interns were never allowed on cases. All interns really did was just get coffee for others or stuff like what she was currently doing, bringing lunch to the Inspector of Division Two, Ginzo Nakamori.
Now, usually, such a task wouldn't be so nerve racking, but the situation was a bit different. Typically, Nakamori is a.. fairly nice guy, a bit irritable yes, but he's always happy to get lunch from his daughter. However, it was no secret that, when the Inspector was in a bad mood, you did not want to be in close proximity, and she was pretty certain he was in a bad mood.
A few moments ago, very loud and angry yelling could be heard from Nakamori's office. That in itself isn't unusual (Nakamori is a very irritable man after all), but the yelling was quite clearly feminine.
She had got a glimpse of the girl as she walked out, and, well.. it was safe to assume Nakamori had gotten chewed out by a high school girl. She would assume that would damage any police officer's pride, especially one as egocentric as Nakamori.
The intern's only saving hope was that the lunch she was bringing would cheer up the Inspector, so he wouldn't take out his anger on the poor woman.
She had arrived at the office and was about to knock, before she noticed the door was slightly ajar. She peeked inside and, well, was quite frankly shocked.
Nakamori's desk was completely wrecked. Items were all strewn about and out of place, but, most of all, there was a huge dent right in the middle. And Nakamori had a steel desk.
The Inspector himself wasn't any better. He was standing by the window and looking out at the street with a forlorn expression. He sighed every so often and massaged the bridge of his nose as if he was trying to stave off an oncoming headache. He looked angry, exhausted, humiliated, and just downright horrible.
However, she couldn't just stand here and watch Nakamori forever. She still had to deliver his lunch however much she didn't want to, so she cleared her throat to get the man's attention.
Nakamori jumped and turned around to meet her. "Oh..!" He startled. "It's just you." He said, relieved.
The intern just took a moment to process.
Nakamori, who had been on the force for years and had probably seen many horrific things that she couldn't even imagine, had just jumped.
(She made a mental note not to mess with high school girls.)
Nakamori's expression changed to a slightly irritated one. "What is it?" He asked.
"Lunch." She held up the bento. "From your daughter, sir."
"Oh, thank you. Just put it on my desk." He sent a glance to the destroyed object. "...Somewhere."
She walked over and placed it on one of the more flat portions of the desk. "Is that all, sir?" She asked.
"Yes." Nakamori just said.
She headed towards the door and was about to walk out, when Nakamori called out to her. "Oh, uh, just one more thing." He once again looked sadly down at the unusable item before him. He sighed before asking, "Could you place in an order for a new desk.. please?"
"Of course sir."
