It's you, it's always been you…
Trying her best not to make too much noise, the brunette woman known as Regina Mills covered her mouth with her right hand, the gesture a desperate attempt to hold back the laugh that wanted to break past her lips.
For the good it did, she shouldn't have even done it, because the burst came out forcibly anyway. Once it was at the back of her throat, she could barely conceal it and before she could help it, she choked on it. It escaped her in a rush, the sound breaking through the night like an arrow.
Normally, she would try to be more collected when she was outdoors, as there was always someone around watching her every step, ready to snap a picture that was going to end up on the cover of whatever gossip magazine was trending now.
But the thing was that on that night she just couldn't help it. Not that it mattered anyway; after all she was already in front of her house, and that meant that there was not a single paparazzi around to witness her in her silliest behavior.
So yeah, there was no real reason for her to care about appearances… not when the only one person with her was the one who made her laugh.
Robin…
It was amazing, but despite the years they had spent without seeing each other, he had been able to make her feel at ease quickly enough. There was no awkwardness, or long silences… and definitely no sense of being lost. He made her travel back in time, and ever since he picked her up to take her to dinner, she started to feel like she was once again the girl who fell head over heels for him.
They talked and caught up with their lives, and the more she heard, the more she felt the apparent long forgotten pull strike back.
What could she say? That was the power he had over her. One look of those immensely blue eyes of his, or one flash of his dimple smile and she was back on ground zero.
It was okay though, as it was good to be feeling like that: laughing so carefree, with her whole soul… with him, and she was not going to lie, feeling giddy as hell.
It was magical, and the whole thing was making her feel like it should have always been like this between them, with nothing and nobody between them…
Still, she needed to be careful. After all, it had been five years without the two of them meeting, longer since she realized she was in love with him, and those years in between couldn't be taken out of the way in just one night.
Besides, she didn't know what Robin's intentions were, and she didn't want to throw herself head first only to knock herself out cold.
That was why she needed to get a grip...
Ah, if only it wasn't so hard. Ever since leaving the restaurant, she had been unable to stop laughing with him and his little stories, which happened to be oddly funny for her to control herself. It was one of those occasions where she knew she should stop doing something, but as much as she tried to, she just couldn't.
Maybe she shouldn't have downed that third drink after dinner, because now she was sure that it got to her head and as a result, she was feeling tipsy and light headed.
"I swear it's true, and I also swear that was one of the lowest points in my entire life."
With her hand still covering her mouth, Regina laughed again. There was no point in trying to hold it now that it went out so she just waited until she could control the urge to do it. Once it was over she took a deep breath and spoke.
"Awww, I know a lot of people who would give anything to see a video of that happening. Robin Locksley and Killian Jones uncut footage."
"No, no, no," her old time friend and former co-star said in a raspy laugh. "Trust me on this one; that video hits the internet and half our fan base is going to vanish." He finished that statement by leaning into her the sightless bit, just enough so she could breathe into his fine cologne.
Now, that he got a bit closer wasn't the only thing she noticed, because she also became aware of the way his voice came off as a mellow alluring whisper floating in the air.
That right there made her feel things, a tingling sensation forming on the pit of her stomach and then fluttering all through her body.
Maybe it was the alcohol indeed, or maybe it was a combination of that and years of suppressed feelings coming to the surface…
Who knew? All she could say was that she needed to be very careful, so biting lightly on her bottom lip, Regina looked up to him and smiled meekly, not quite feeling like laughing anymore.
Now Robin…
Back to the years when they worked together, their friendship took a turn that she still didn't quite understand. There were feelings involved, even if they never spoke about them, and there was an undeniable attraction between them. It was there, palpable, but life had a funny way to deal with things and at the moment, neither of them did anything to change the dynamics of their relationship.
They were friends, and co-workers, and that was it.
But now things had changed, and she didn't know if that meant things were going to be different.
Not wanting to muse about that so much, Regina breathed in and went back to the conversation. "Probably… I mean I don't think the internet can survive that. You should know better next time."
Running the tip of his tongue across his lips, Robin smiled his infamous dimple smile and tilted his head to the side. "That's a bit unfair, don't you think? I mean I am a guy like any other and I have the right to have fun too, you know." Shrugging and keeping the intensity of his clear blue eyes on her brown ones, he smiled again.
"I didn't say otherwise, just that people don't expect that from you… or Killian for that matter," she said, looking away from him, her eyes taking in the fact that they were standing in front of her door.
So this was it… the end of the night, and she still wasn't sure how to feel about it. Part of her wanted to stay there, talking to him all night long like they used to do back when they were filming. But given the situation, she wasn't sure if that was a good idea.
Ten years ago, she knew nothing between them could happen and that thought always kept her at bay. But now… now everything was different, and it was in a way nerve-wrecking.
"Well, I'll tell you what, I had fun tonight. It was good seeing you, Regina."
Smiling, the brunette woman bit her lips. "I had fun too so I don't know, let's not wait for another five years to pass by for a repeat, okay?"
At those words, Robin snorted, his blue eyes sparkling as he looked at her. "Definitely no. Now come here."
Opening his arms in a clear indication that he was going for a goodnight hug, the British actor pushed the inside of his cheek with the tip of his tongue.
Regina watched that as if in a trance, not even realizing she was moving forward until she was wrapping her own arms around his midsection, her face almost nestled in the crook of his neck and her eyes automatically closing.
It felt good and so familiar that she couldn't help but to hold on for dear life, melting into the embrace without shame.
He probably felt the same, because he made no attempt to break the contact.
Actually, it was Regina the one who pulled away. Not too much, just a few inches so she could kiss his cheek. It would have worked perfectly… maybe, but a combination of him moving his face and her motor skills betraying her, prompted her to kiss him on the lips.
Yes, it was a quick peck that lacked force and intention, but it was definitely more than what they had done in real life.
Sure, while filming they had lingered a bit more, but those smooches, as innocent as they were, had always been scripted and so detached.
Not this one… because even though he didn't even have time to reciprate in the confusion, she felt the whole thing in the very core of her existence.
"Sorry. That was not what I was trying to do. Oh my God-" Cringing, Regina laughed nervously and despite herself, she ended up pressing her face to his shoulder. Because yeah, for some reason he was still holding her to him and well, she didn't want to pull away either.
"It's alright. I mean, I'm not going to complain here. I do, however, feel like I have to kiss you now… you know, just to be even."
"Shut up." Feeling flustered at the prospect of him doing that, Regina puffed out a breath, her eyes closing as she inhaled deeply into the scent of his cologne.
For several seconds, the two of them just remained like that, hugging and probably getting lost in thought.
But then, with all the care in the world, Robin pulled away, grabbed her face and almost as if he had done it a thousand times (he had, just on script), he pressed his lips to hers.
The contact was soft, barely a caress of his mouth against hers, but once again, Regina felt it everywhere. It ran like a bolt of lighting starting on her toes, shooting up her spine and exploding behind her closed eyelids…
It didn't go past that though, because before she could completely melt in the sensation, he pulled away, keeping his face close enough for her to feel his breath on her skin. "I would apologize, but I definitely meant to do that."
Licking her tingling lips, Regina scoffed, trembling with the sound of his voice so low and throaty drilling into her brain. She wanted to say something witty in response, maybe engage in the banter that used to characterize them back in their days, but the truth was that she couldn't.
She couldn't speak, or think… or do anything, so she just kept her eyes closed, her forehead resting against his.
Not one to miss an opportunity, Robin kissed her again, pressing a bit harder while burying his fingers in her hair.
She reciprocated the advance, her head even tilting to the side so that he could have room to so as he pleased.
He didn't though, he just rained a series of soft kisses on her mouth, lingering without going deep.
It was nice, so nice that before she could help it, she ended up taking a deep breath while pulling an inch away, her nose scrunching in advance to the question she was going to ask. "Do you want to come in?"
She held breath as soon as the words were out, because holy crap, the scenario waiting to unfold in a night like that could be all wrong and she wasn't sure she wanted to explore it…
Okay, who was she trying to kid? She wanted to explore it, and there lay the problem.
Unfortunately for her, Robin replied before she could take the invitation out of the table. "Yeah, sure."
"Okay." Feeling suddenly nervous, Regina wondered what the hell she was doing. Like sure, she wasn't drunk per se, but she still had a good amount of alcohol in her system. Add to that the two of them alone in her house and the results were doomed to equal nothing good.
Now, it wasn't like they've never been alone inside a room, as they had hung out in their trailers, in numerous hotel suites, and even more first class flights, but this was her house they were talking about, and after those sweet kisses they just shared, the thought of them being all alone was hitting differently.
It was simple, it was dangerous now that there was nothing to hold them back, especially because as nonchalant as she wanted to act with him, the truth was she wasn't immune to his charm.
She never had been, actually! And the way she had succumbed to his kisses was a clear indication.
What could she say? Robin was a very attractive man and she couldn't deny that. He looked good, he had a nice personality that matched the radiance of his smile, and a pair of stunning blue eyes that were to die for.
She also liked that he smelled amazingly, that he always knew how to make her laugh, that he was a great soul that went out of his way to help others, and that even through the worst of his divorce, he kept his son a priority.
Overall, he was the perfect man any woman could ever want in their life and she knew it… maybe she even wanted him in hers.
But that was a tale for another occasion, as she couldn't think of the future when she was feeling so out of her element in the present. Because of that, she decided to just go with the flow.
"Let me just.." she started to say, clenching her jaw and turning around to open her door.
Once that was done, she let him in, shaking her head when the sound of the door closing echoed all through her empty house.
Now, she wasn't so naïve as to think that Robin's intentions were purely platonic that night, because he had been the one who helped himself into kissing her. But he had been so tender about it that she couldn't help but to feel at ease with him being there. Yes, he was a man like any other and he was probably going to take the invitation as a green light to take many liberties with her, but she was totally okay with that.
This thing between them had been brewing for too long, and even though they hit a long pause, their encounter made her feel like time never moved at all.
He was still the same Robin she knew and loved, and maybe it was time for them to let this be what it was always meant to be.
"Do you want something to drink?" she offered, turning on the lights and guiding him straight into her living room.
Robin followed her, sitting on her sofa when she motioned him to do it. "Yes, please."
Knowing him and his preferences, Regina went to her cabinet, grabbing two glasses and a nice reserve of whiskey she had for special occasions. It was Robin's favorite, she knew that for a fact, so she was happy to still have some available.
Once she had both drinks in her hands, she walked back to the living room and sat by his side. "Here,"
When she handed him the glass, Robin grabbed it, the way his fingers brushed against hers making her blush. He was just too close… and that way, things felt almost imminent.
Sure, that was the way she felt, but that didn't mean Robin had the same plans. Yeah… he was looking at her a bit too intently, and yes, that gling in his eyes was loud, but he wasn't doing or saying anything to pick up from the kissing session they initiated by her door.
Should she go ahead and ask him what he wanted?
No, as comfortable as she always felt with him, this was new territory for them and she didn't want to rush it. They should just wait and see… maybe talk a little bit?
Yeah, that sounded perfect, and something in her mind was telling her that she should start a conversation, ask him something, anything to break the heavy silence.
At the same time, she was well aware that they just spent a good part of their date chatting their hearts out, so there was nothing much to discuss. They had talked about Roland, about their mutuals, about his divorce, about her upcoming projects and Robin's plans in LA, and yeah, she even rambled about her mother and sister being way too intense.
They discussed the weather, politics, their time filming, current events and everything in the book… well, at least everything but the obvious attraction between them.
"So…" Robin said after getting a taste of his drink.
"So." Regina mimicked him, arching an eyebrow while she took a sip of the liquid as well, savoring it in her mouth until the smooth taste invaded all her senses. It was good, and this made her remember something. "You know, you were the one who got me into drinking whiskey. I never liked it before."
Flashing a lopsided smirk, Robin threw an arm over the back of the sofa, creating the illusion that he was closer than what he really was. "Well, that's me, always ready to make people improve in life. I remember you always stuck to those terrible and overly sweet colorful drinks, so this is definitely a step up."
Laughing because he was not wrong, Regina leaned against the back of her sofa, facing him. "Hey, I still drink those, okay?"
Smiling so that his dimples were in full display, Robin put his drink over the small coffee table in front of them, his attention fully on her. "Did I mention how stunningly beautiful you look tonight?"
Running her tongue across the edge of her teeth, Regina placed her free hand to her face. "Stop it."
Robin didn't stop, what he did was lean a bit closer to her, the smile growing bigger. "Are you blushing?"
Keeping her hand pressed to her face, Regina shook her head, even though she could feel that she was indeed furiously blushing.
"Robin," she said in a warning and yes, it was stupid, but she would rather he kissed her instead of saying her those things.
"I'm just saying."
"I know, I'm just tense."
Robin nodded, and for a second, she was almost sure he was pulling back. "Because I kissed you? Was that wrong of me?"
Dropping her hand from her face, Regina scoffed. And yes, she should probably keep this to herself, but then again, why the hell not say it?
"No. I mean… it was okay, it's just… I'm tense wondering if you are going to do it again." Letting her words there, Regina bit her lips, her eyes getting wider as she expectantly stared at him.
Arching both eyebrows, Robin hummed. "You want me to?"
Finding it funny that they were playing this game, Regina shrugged, her eyes finding his to stare at. "I don't know, do you want to?"
Apparently finding the question amusing, Robin chuckled, getting even closer to her. In his new position, she could feel him touching her hair and his knees bumping with hers. "Regina… I can't remember ever having you this close without wanting to kiss you."
And holy shit. If she thought she was blushing before, now she felt on fire. Yes, if this was any other man, she would find the words way too cheesy to her taste, but God… this was Robin and he was putting all his cards on the table.
He was telling her that he had always pinned for her, and considering they had never done this before, that was huge.
Sure, she had always suspected that her feelings for him were reciprocated, but she never expected him to say it like that… so raw.
"Really?" she asked dumbly, watching as he grabbed her drink to also put it away.
"Really," Robin replied, and right after the glass was secured and resting on the table, he grabbed her face in the same manner he did a while ago, guiding her to him.
Once he was close enough, he claimed her mouth with his.
He went further than before, and breathing in, she felt the tip of his tongue sneaking out so he could gently caress her lips with it.
Her resistance to that was zero and he took advantage of her willingness, because as soon as her lips relaxed for him, his thumb slid to her chin and pulled it down, creating a gap between her lips so that he could slide in and swirl his tongue around hers.
Once again, Regina just let him do whatever the hell he wanted to do, and it was perfect. The way his tongue delved smoothly into her mouth to nudge her into action clouding her judgment in a compromising way.
It was amazing… and so good she could faint.
So yes, lost in the moment, she kissed him back, her hand resting at the nape of his neck to keep him near.
The kiss went on for a while, the two of them exploring, nipping, and drinking from each other's breaths. It made her feel all hot and bothered, a sense of excitement at the knowledge that she was kissing Robin boiling within her.
It was just that... shit, she couldn't remember how many times she had wished for this to happen, and being there now, with his tongue in her mouth and his scent tickling her nose, was in a way surreal.
If it wasn't because she was getting turned on by this, she would maybe even laugh… because this was Robin. Robin! And he was kissing her silly while sitting on her sofa.
Well… he was quite a good kisser, so she was not going to laugh. She did, however, kiss him deeper.
In response, Robin's hands found their way to her hips, one remaining in place while the other one slowly slid up. When she felt him sneaking beneath her shirt, she hummed, the touch of his fingers caressing her naked skin sending a shiver up her spine.
That was when the reality of it all caught up with her.
This was really happening. After years of being in love with this man, she was letting things with him take a wild turn.
It was scary… but so, so rewarding.
"I can't believe this is happening," she whispered against his mouth.
"I know," Robin mumbled before moving his lips to her throat, sucking lightly on the spot where her pulse was beating erratically against her flesh.
This made Regina moan softly, her head moving to the side to give him even more room to work his magic.
Robin complied to the silent invitation, and with his lips still attached to her skin and his fingers under her shirt, he reached the swell of her breast so that he could touch her over her bra.
That right there was probably too forward-too soon, and so unlike him, but then again, there was no way for her to really know. She knew Robin the friend, the lovable dork who always made her laugh, but she had no idea of how he was in a more intimate aspect. Meaning: this side of him was completely new to her.
She liked it… how could she not? And as his palm closed over her, a warm liquid sensation started to settle right between her legs.
Unfortunately to her increasing libido, he didn't linger much and retreated back to her hips, his fingers digging into her flesh.
It was a shame, really, because her body wanted him to keep touching her. It wanted him to take her bra off so that he could touch her freely, to grab at will, to use his palms to run them over her nipples, it wanted him to do everything to her.
"Robin…" she started to say weakly, burying her hand into his hair to keep him in place.
She wanted to tell him so many things: like that she wanted him to explore her all over, that she wanted him to kiss her once again, and that she needed his other hand to move from where it was still resting on her hip, so it could settle right where her heat was forming; the other she wanted back under her shirt.
But what he was doing had her mute, so she said nothing.
Not that she had to. They had done a lot of talking as it was, so now it was time to do things.
With that in mind, she used the hand she had on his head, guiding his face back to hers. When he was close, she pressed her mouth to his.
His response was immediate. He didn't lose any time in going right back in, luring her to participate until she gave in completely, kissing him back and responding with abandon.
It was intense… the kissing, the knowledge of who he was… the way he was lighting every fiber of her being on fire.
It made her feel like all those years of loving him in silence, of ignoring her feelings and downplaying her emotions, had been damn worth the wait…
Thinking about that, she let her hand go to the back of his neck, her fingers brushing a path to his face until her hand rested on his cheek. Her other hand went to his back, wanting to feel him closer.
When he pushed against her, she couldn't help but to enjoy the shiver that ran down her spine as his body came to rest on top of hers.
She gasped into his mouth as she felt the pressure because yes, this was definitely going fast, and she liked every bit of it.
That was how without breaking the kiss, Regina pulled him closer, accommodating him between her legs so she could feel the ultimate proof that she was not the only one enjoying the moment. He was hard… and the sensation of his erection pushing against her was off the hook.
"Is this okay?" he asked against her lips and she nodded, still too wrapped up in sensation to speak coherently.
Smirking, he pulled a bit back, his eyes dancing over her face curiously.
"You're really stunning, Regina."
"You don't have to charm me, you know…"
Robin laughed at her words, kissing the tip of her nose.
Loving the sound of his laughter, so deep and rich, Regina slid her hands down his back and before he could say something more, she started to explore. She felt under his shirt, her fingers enjoying the hardness of his muscles.
He felt more than nice, especially because as she did that, his lips found their way back to the soft skin of her neck.
"You have no idea what you're doing to me," he said in a raspy voice, teasing at her flesh as her hands explored the wonders of his back and shoulders.
"Why don't you show me?" she whispered despite her mind being a mess, her voice carrying the low undertones of the sweet turmoil he was provoking in her.
Robin chuckled, running a hand up her leg.
"You know, you should be careful in what you ask for."
"You think?" she replied before kissing him, arching her back to him as his fingers explored, running along her thigh, up to her hip and halting on her lower stomach to undo her pants.
He did that slowly and without stopping the kiss, almost as if to give her time to stop him. She didn't, her mind was too far gone and the heat between her legs was not letting her get a hold of herself.
It was too much, but not even the fact that his hand was finally sliding into her pants made her want to stop him. Quite the contrary, as she couldn't wait for him to go further...
He didn't. Yes, he teased her, almost touching her in places that would definitely make her blood boil and her desire to soar to the roof… but even when he was so close, he was not giving her what her body craved.
His hand remained between her pants and her underwear, the tip of his fingers tracing the outline of it...
"What do you want, Regina?" he asked, pulling away from the kiss while his darkened eyes fixed on her face.
"What?" She asked and then moaned low in her throat as his fingers brushed over her wetness.
Yes, he did that over the fabric of her pantie, but holy shit, the touch was so electric she almost jumped.
"What do you want me to do?"
Her breathing was a bit ragged and she was sure that her face was flushed… but she didn't know what to say.
The whole thing was so intense that she wasn't even thinking straight.
As if that wasn't enough, he wasn't giving her time to gather her wits. Not when his fingers kept brushing over the croth of her pantie before going the other way. "Tell me so I can give it to you."
"I want you to touch me..." Closing her eyes, Regina breathed out, and even though she couldn't see his face, she knew he was smiling that sly grin of his. It was good, because there was something she always wanted him to know that was going to make him grin even more. "I always wanted that, Robin."
That seemed to be the answer that he was looking for, because after sucking in a breath, his fingers gave way to her desire and they started a more intimate caress.
He went straight under, parting her sex, circling her clit, and then pressing the ball of his finger to her slit. It was crazy, but he was definitely making her moan and get even more flustered than before.
"Oh my God, Robin…"
"Look at me," he demanded and she did, finding his eyes on hers as his finger worked their magic of rubbing and delving into her sex. It almost felt obscene. "Do you like this?"
"Yeah-" She breathed out, and not wanting to be left behind in the touching department, her hand went down his body until she found him, hard and ready for her. She sneaked her way into his pants and took him in the palm of her hand, touching him without the barrier of his clothes.
"Shit, Regina…"
Getting even more turned on after listening to him say her name like that, Regina bit her lips. All the while her eyes remained on him, watching a flush take over his face, his tongue peeking out through his lips as her hand started to work on him.
He looked so dreamy, all hot and bothered, and as two of his fingers kept delving into her heated center, she ran her thumb over the crown of his erection.
He kissed her as she did that, his tongue going as deep as his fingers were going…
He worked her nicely, pumping his fingers in, manipulating her clit, and just making her desire build up until it was ringing in her ears. She could come like that, and fuck, maybe she was going to.
"Don't stop… don't stop… oh," she moaned, and not having to be told once, Robin kept on.
"I want to see you cum, Regina… are you going to let me see you?" Robin asked, planting a kiss below her ear.
"Yes…" Regina's eyes rolled, her ministrations on his cock becoming a bit erratic. Yes, she was jerking her hand up and down along his thickness, but she wasn't sure if her method was the best.
It was hard with his pants still on, as her movements were kind of restricted. She wished they could lose their damn clothes.
If she could spread her legs a bit more, she knew she would be a goner...
"Then come for me, love. Let me feel you," Robin pressed, the ball of his finger circling around the sensitive bundle of nerves hidden between her folds.
"Oh, my…" That was what it took, so with a jerk of her hips and her inner muscles clenching his fingers, Regina came undone, moaning and thrashing on her couch.
It was a mind blowing experience, her entire body breaking apart and then roughly putting itself back together.
She even had to stop jerking him, because if she kept doing that, she was afraid she could rip his cock off…
That's how hard it hit her, enough so that she didn't even have control of her reflections.
"That's it, gorgeous… enjoy it," Robin mumbled against her lips, kissing her briefly. Meanwhile, he kept his fingers sliding in and out of her, in and out until the sensation plus the friction of his thumb on her clit was too much for her.
That's when he stopped, sliding out of her and just resting this hand over her pubic bone.
Feeling boneless and glad that he was able to sense when it was too much, Regina gasped… amazed.
"Oh my God, that was… Oh, I don't think I can even feel my legs right now."
Kissing her jaw and then her cheek, Robin chuckled. "Yeah?"
Swallowing hard and letting her eyes dig into his, Regina nodded. "Now come back here and kiss me."
With that said, Regina pulled him back to her, taking his shirt off and kissing him long and deep. She fumbled with his pants like that, until he grabbed her hands and stopped her.
"Maybe we should stop here, Regina."
Feeling a bit confused, Regina frowned. "What do you mean? You don't want to keep going?"
"Trust me," brushing her hair behind her ear, Robin began to say with a snort. "There's nothing that I want more than to keep going. But I don't want to rush this."
Regina did a double take. "You think this is rushed? Like really?"
Biting his lips, Robin wrinkled his nose. "Yeah, it is. I mean… I like you, Regina, a lot, and I might throw myself head first into this and even say that I have feelings for you. But despite how we've known each other for years, this is in a way all new to us. I don't want it to rush it and make it just… a fumble on your couch."
Widening her eyes, Regina blew out a breath. "We can go to my bed."
Running a hand through his hair, Robin closed his eyes. "That… it sounds very tempting, really…"
Reading on his unsaid words, Regina touched his cheek. She didn't want him to think that she was mad because she really wasn't. She was just a bit lost. "But you won't do it."
Screwing his face into an painful mask, Robin pressed his forehead to hers. "I want to. You have no idea how much… actually, I would do just fine on this couch. But I want to do this right. I've wanted this too much for too long, and I don't want to fuck it up by being a… horny bastard. Okay, I already acted that way and got a bit carried away just now, but I think that's okay. Was it okay?"
Regina smiled. "It was more than okay by me. But how about you? You're still… you know," she said, pointing at his erection.
Getting off of her and pulling her up with him, Robin sat, "I'm going to go home right now and take a very cold shower, and probably wonder why I was so stupid as to walk out of here."
Regina bit her lips, fighting against the urge of telling him that she wanted him to stay. Instead, she just breathed in. "And then what? What is this that just happened?"
"Then I'm going to call you and invite you on another date, is that alright with you?"
Blinking slowly, Regina looked away… wondering.
Did she give too much too soon? Was he thrown off because of that?
"I guess. I mean, if that's what you want."
"Hey," grabbing her chin, Robin made her face him. "Look at me. You trust me, right?"
She used to, but she didn't know anymore. So yeah, in a way, she guessed that he was right. They couldn't throw themselves into this head first, because the truth of the matter was that they stopped interacting on a regular basis too long ago.
As much as she wanted to think he was the same Robin she used to love, he wasn't. This person sitting in front of her was not the same man who would fall asleep with his head resting on her lap, or the one who she could talk about anything (but her feelings for him). No, he was a slightly different version of that old Robin, and in order for them to get into any kind of relationship, they had to rediscover one another.
"Regina…"
"I trust you," she said before he could go on, and with that claim, the beginning of a new phase in their relationship just started...
