The Gathering of the Seven.

Chapter Five: The Berserker.

Tako Village.

Akira could feel the heat emanating from the blacksmith's shop, a two-floor building made out of dark cobblestone with a simple tiled roof and an open first floor with a massive furnace, an anvil, and several tools and weapons hung up on a wall, along with some armor as well. The blacksmith himself was standing in front of the doorway, clad in a white short sleeved shirt that was dirty with burn marks, a thick brown apron covering his front. He was wearing rolled up black pants, with the apron itself having several loops where dark metal tools hung from, along with similar burn marks. The blacksmith himself was a fairly tall Anguirus with light grey scales and light-yellow spikes on his carapace, tail, and body, his claws and teeth being white, and the uncovered portions of his body being quite muscular. His spikes were currently small and soft, as there was no danger in sight. He watched Akira approached him, coughing before speaking. "Hey there stranger, you in need of something? Weapons? Armor? Tools? Or does your armor need a touch up?"

"Well… I need you to look at my armor," Akira answered, following the blacksmith into his shop. It was quite hot in there, no doubt due to the burning orange furnace, although it seemed as if the blacksmith was quite used to the heat. "And maybe my swords as well."

"Well," the blacksmith said as he went behind a stone and wood counter, tapping his claws against the top of it, "show me your swords first." Akira nodded, and unsheathed his Tachi and Wakizashi, placing both swords on the counter. He stayed stoic and quiet while the blacksmith picked up the Wakizashi, rubbing his finger against the blade and feeling it. Then he placed it back down to look at the Tachi, his eyes growing a bit wider while he looked at the curved blade, and felt it. Breathing in slightly, he placed the Tachi down and looked directly at Akira, both of his hands resting on the countertop. "These swords are in perfect condition stranger, there's no need for a touch-up. Keep them by you…. there are bandits around here. Now for your armor, go to that room behind the curtain and remove it." Akira took back his swords, sheathing them and walked over to where the blacksmith was gesturing, and slid open the curtain, walking into a small closet sized room. While he undid his harness and removed his wrist guards, Akira stopped for a minute.

"Bandits…. I can deal with them…. but the way he said it…." Akira then took off his shirt, making sure to remove the dented armor underneath, and put it back on, then taking off his shin guards and piling them up on the other armor pieces before putting his shirt on once again. He then took his Wakizashi, and after looking at it for a few seconds, slipped in his belt right above his Tachi, and walked out of the room, seeing the blacksmith still at the counter. "Here's what I have, can you give them a touch up? And what do I owe you?" The armor clattered down, nearly surprising the blacksmith, who sat up and took a look at the armor with a pair of magnified goggles. He put his fingers up to his chin, and then cleared his throat while moving the goggles up to his head.

"Well, this under armor right here needs a lot of touching up and pounding to get rid of those dents. Seems like you were in a tough fight huh? Your shoulder armor is good, but needs some tightening to the harness. Wrist guards have a few nicks and your shin guards do too. All in all this should cost about 50 gold." Akira reached into his shirt and pulled out a money bag, the coins clinking as he set them down on the counter and slid them over to the blacksmith. "Alright, now I'll get to work on fixing your armor. This might take a while so if you need to go do something, then it's okay." The Blacksmith then put the money into a box, and picked up the armor, taking the pieces to an anvil near the furnace and grabbing a hammer and tongs. "Thank you very much sir, I appreciate the pay."

"You're welcome." Akira watched the blacksmith pick up the under armor with his tongs first, and place it gently near the edge of the furnace to let it heat up. Akira leaned against a wooden support beam, standing silently until he felt a gentle tug pull his shirt. He looked down and saw a light grey Anguirus child no older than 12 wearing brown clothes and looking up at him with light blue eyes. "…. Hey…."

"Hey mister, can you help me please?" Akira turned around fully, watching as the child continued to look at him with pleading eyes. "There was a big fish in the pond, but it took my fishing stick. Can you help me catch it? Please?" Akira looked at the blacksmith, who was now pounding away at the under armor and did not seem to notice the child in his workshop. Either he was used to the kid showing up or he was absorbed into his work.

"Sure, I'll help you. Can you take me to the pond?" The child smiled and grabbed Akira's hand, leading him out of the shop while the blacksmith briefly watched Akira leave, and then went back to pounding out the under armor. The child led Akira around the front of the blacksmith's and then to a small alley in between it and another building, a well-worn dirt path leading into a part of the forest surrounding the village.

"Follow me!" The child then took off running down the path, and Akira followed him, keeping his hand on his tachi as he ran down the path, keeping his eyes on both the Anguirus child and the trees surrounding him. The path seemed to go on for a while, at least until Akira saw sunlight at the end of the path, and came upon a clearing with a small pond in the middle of it. There was a small stream running through it as well, and the sound of trickling water filled the air with a peaceful feeling. "See the fish mister? It's right there." Akira saw the child standing on the left of the pond and walked over to join him, removing his hand from the tachi's handle.

"Oh, I see it. That big one right?" The pond itself was filled with green lily pads, insects buzzing around it, and as the child described, several fish which Akira could not identify. One in particular had silver scales and two black eyes, and in its mouth was a hook with a string attached to it. A simple wooden rod was floating on the surface of the pond, and which each swish that the fish made as it swam around, the rod would jerk and twist.

"Uh-huh. It was too strong for me," the child sighed sadly, sitting down by the edge of the pond and looking in while Akira squatted down, watching the fish swim. "I can't swim too, so that's why I asked you mister. You're a Gojirasaur."

"Yeah. You're pretty brave you know," Akira said, smiling at the kid who seemed to cheer up a bit as he prepared to catch the fish. "Going after a big fish like that… even I couldn't do that as a kid."

"Well, I always like going after the big ones," the child giggled just a bit, seeing Akira watch the fish. "They taste really delicious. I hope that catching them will help me be like Lord Ieyasu. My mom told me about him… He's so big and strong." Akira breathed in gently, and the child kneeled, watching as the Gojirasaur suddenly thrust his head inside the water and then pulled out with a growl, holding the fish in his powerful jaws.

"Mmhmmhmm," Akira grunted as he took the fish out of his jaws, making sure its skin was not broken, and then handing both the fish and the fishing stick to the child, who smiled happily. "Here you go, I think you'll have a nice dinner tonight. You need me to take you home?"

"No it's okay, thank you mister!" The child then ran off while Akira picked himself up and stood up once again. He turned around to see where the child was, only to see nothing but an empty fish pond, the afternoon sun, and a clearing in the middle of the forest.

"Where did he go?" Akira shook his head and went down the path to exit the forest, once again watching among the trees in case he saw any movement. Aside from a few wild animals and dinosaurs, the forest was empty and when he came to the alleyway, Akira breathed in and out gently, leaning against the wall of the blacksmith's shop. When he caught his breath, he walked out of the alley and then walked over to the entrance of the blacksmith's, looking around at the village for any signs of the Anguirus child. There were quite a few children playing, but they were various other species like Baragon and Caesar, and even the Anguirus did not look like the one he had seen. "I hope he got home safely." Akira then walked back into the shop, and saw his armor resting on the counter, looking almost brand new.

"Hey there stranger," the blacksmith smiled, tapping the armor gently. "Your armor's all ready for you. Hey, where'd you go when you left? You find something interesting?" Akira walked up and picked up each part of his armor, impressed by how well it had been repaired. He sat down on a bench next to the counter, still holding onto his armor. The blacksmith himself got up, and started to put away his tools, which were lying around everywhere in the workshop.

"Well there was this kid who needed some help," Akira answered, putting his wrist guards back on and testing how snugly they fit onto his arms. "Did you see him?" The blacksmith looked confused, scratching his chin as he pondered the question.

"I don't think I did, I just thought you were going somewhere on your own. Can you describe him to me?" Akira then slipped his under armor back on, no longer feeling the dents pressing into his sides and then attached his harness. Next he put his shin armor on under his pants, and completed his look. Then he could feel a small hand touch his hand, and he turned around to see the child sitting next to him, watching the blacksmith too.

"Well, he was an Anguirus like you," Akira described, turning back to continue watching the blacksmith put things away in the shop. "Light grey scales with yellow spikes, and he asked me to help him catch a fish at a pond in the woods..." Akira stopped talking as he noticed that the blacksmith seemed to freeze up just a bit, before he coughed and then looked down, grabbing some rusted armor and hanging it back up on a rack. He looked back briefly at Akira, only staring at him but not the child sitting next to him.

"Oh… There's something you need to know," the blacksmith said, his jovial tone replaced by a quiet one as if he was thinking. "Years ago in this village, there was an Anguirus child who we all loved. He was bright, happy, and smart. He was good at fishing, and he'd always come into town, to show off what he caught that day," he continued, almost sadly while Akira listened to him. The blacksmith would not face him or the child, only looking back occasionally as he put more things away. "The thing is…. the spot where he loved to fish was in a clearing in the woods, which could be dangerous under certain circumstances. One day his father got sick and couldn't come with him. His mother was in the army, so he went on his own. He wanted to catch a big silver fish so he could help him feel better, and cook him a nice meal. He never came back….."

"Oh," Akira answered, thinking more about the child he had seen. The fire crackled a bit while the blacksmith breathed in, trying to continue the story. A tear fell near the edge of the furnace while the blacksmith leaned down, and sizzled as it evaporated. Akira looked back at the child, noticing tears falling from his eyes as well.

"Everyone searched for him in the woods, for days and weeks, and then we found him…. a bandit had killed him. Since then, he's been laid to rest, but there have been stories that his spirit still can be seen today, and he's still the same child we all knew and loved…. Always seeking out those who may be hurt or damaged in some way. You saw him right?" The blacksmith looked back at Akira, smiling sadly, while Akira nodded gently. "Thank you for helping him stranger…. I hope you get the help you need to heal from what hurt you." He was still only looking at Akira, and when Akira turned to look at the child, there was nothing.

"You're welcome," Akira answered, standing up and putting his hand on the blacksmith's shoulder. "Thank you for repairing my armor. I'll be going now, you stay safe okay?" The blacksmith nodded, and Akira turned to leave, taking a moment to glance down a hallway.

At the end of it was a small shrine with a candle and some incense poking out of it. There was a painted portrait above it, and in the portrait was the blacksmith himself, a female Anguirus clad in armor, and between them, an Anguirus child no older than twelve with distinct blue eyes. Breathing in gently, Akira then exited the shop, and walked to the alley where the path to the forest was and there at the end of it was the child, holding onto his silverfish. He waved at Akira, and Akira slowly waved back, watching as the child turned around and ran into the forest, disappearing into it.

"Thank you very much miss," Ryu smiled as he slid several gold coins forward, picking up the bag of food and slipping it on the handle of his axe. The Caesar vendor smiled back and silently thanked him, putting the money away in a small moneybag. Ryu then walked out onto the main dirt pathway of Tako Village, looking around as he breathed in the fresh air. "It's so peaceful here… too bad we can't stay long." As he started to head for the inn, he heard a loud crash and stopped in his tracks, listening to where it came from. Then he heard the sounds of running, and turned around to see two tired looking kaiju, a tough looking yellow-red Baragon and a long-haired Frankenstein with slightly blue skin. They both were clad in black and yellow padded clothing with some armor, the latter wearing a pair of heavy boots, and each were holding a small axe, the Baragon wiping sweat off his brow.

"That damn tree's gonna be the death of us," the Frankenstein muttered, looking at the axe in his hands. "It's too big…. I keep telling them that…"

"Hey, it'll be okay," the Baragon responded, bending down and rubbing sawdust off his horn, "We'll get it cleared and then we should have enough room to continue building." Ryu continued to listen, and after a few seconds, walked up to the two kaiju. "Oh hello sir, what do you need?"

"Hey, you said you had some trouble clearing trees?" The two workers looked at the Anguirus in silence, not sure how to respond. "Well, I think I can help you all. Can you take me to the trees please?"

"You sure sir? There are about four trees we need to clear today," the Frankenstein responded, looking at Ryu in a confused way. "Aren't you with the army or something?"

"I'm not," Ryu answered, walking up to the two of them, "I'm just a wandering warrior, and one who's willing to help those in need."

"Alright then," the Baragon coughed, standing up fully along with the Frankenstein. "Follow us, and we'll take you to where we were working." Ryu nodded and followed the two as they moved past several buildings, and then stopping at a half-completed temple, which had a carving at the sides of the entrance of the Guardian Beasts Baragora and Prometheus, the Guardian Beasts of the Baragon and both the Frankenstein and Gargantua respectively, and with the Guardian Beast of the Caesar, Sun Wukong, at the top of the entrance. The workers then walked inside the temple, with Ryu bowing down gently before the Beasts and following them inside, noticing how barren the temple seemed to be. The two kaiju then pointed towards an exit near the back of where the altar would go, and Ryu continued to followed them eventually coming out the back to a small grassy patch. There were about eight other workers standing there, and in front of them were four massive trees, the light brown leaves running all the way up the tall dark trunk suggesting they had reached the end of their life. "Hey! We're back everyone."

"Who's this?" Ryu looked at the other workers, seeing three Gorosaurus, two Baragon, one more Frankenstein, an elderly Anguirus, and the kaiju who asked the question, a Caesar, all wearing similar outfits to the two workers Ryu had met. "Hey sir? This is a work zone just letting you know; those trees could fall down at any minute…" The Caesar had a white mane along with white tufts of fur, and yet his voice suggested he was younger than he looked.

"Oh no it's okay," Ryu answered, seeing how confused the other workers were at his presence while the two who brought him looked at their boss. "I offered to help them, you need to clear those four trees, right?" Ryu took the bag of food off of his axe handle, and the removed the axe from his back, his spikes hardening on his carapace. Several of the workers then gasped in surprise, with a few chattering amongst themselves about the axe.

"That's quite an axe you got there," the Anguirus worker observed, rubbing his chin as he stared at Ryu. "You some kind of a warrior?" Ryu nodded and then looked at the four trees, seeing one that had a nice cut in it, moving up to it. The Caesar leader walked up to Ryu, and put his hand on his shoulder, letting him silently know to wait for a bit.

"Hey you two!" A Gorosaur and a Baragon stood up tall while the Caesar then barked orders at them. "Get in the forest and get ready to catch it when it falls!" The two saluted him and then ran into the forest, making sure to cry out that they were in the area when they reached it. "Alright sir…. Start chopping now. Everyone… back away!"

"Here I go!" Ryu then swung his axe where the cut was on the trunk, and a loud crack rumbled throughout the tree. He drew his axe out, a deep cut appearing in place of the light cut of the tree, and swung heavily again, causing another loud crack to rumble throughout the tree. "You were right grandpa… this is a good axe." Each of the workers stared in awe, with the Frankenstein and Baragon from before quickly moving over to the temple, in case the tree would fall that way and land on the half-finished temple. Ryu swung once more, putting more force in the arc of the swing as it whistled in the wind, and hit the tree one final time, a louder crack than before signaling many smaller cracks as the tree leaned slightly back towards the forest.

'It's coming down! Get ready men!" The Caesar barked off orders into the forest, and Ryu stood back as the tree cracked and groaned, falling fully back into the forest. It stopped midair before it could hit the ground, and was gently set down by the kaiju on the other side. "Wow… you did good sir.. It would've taken us a few days to take that one down. You'll help with the others?"

"You bet," Ryu cheerfully answered, slinging his axe over his shoulder and watching as the two other workers came out of the forest, the other Frankenstein and another Gorosaurus taking their place while the rest of the workers talked amongst themselves, impressed at what had happened. "Can you show me the next tree?" The elderly Anguirus smiled and took Ryu over to the tree that was too the right of the new stump, while the Caesar shouted to the kaiju in the forest get into position.

"This one son. Be careful while you chop, okay?" Ryu nodded and prepared to swing, watching the Baragon and Frankenstein shift their positions while the Caesar made sure the rest of his men were at a safe distance. Ryu swung as he did previously, the blade biting into the bark and a loud crack echoing throughout the area. He swung again, and an even louder crack echoed as several of the workers looked on in awe, the Anguirus smiling while he watched his fellow kaiju prepare one more strike.

"Alright one more…. Watch out everyone!" With one final powerful swing, Ryu chopped through the rest of the trunk, and watched as the tree followed the path of the other, stopping in midair and being lowered down gently as before.

"Damn, you're really good at this kid," one of the Gorosaurus said, watching as his two fellow workers came back from the forest. "Now we're halfway done with clearing these trees." Ryu's smile grew wider, and after the elderly Anguirus pointed him in the direction of the farthest right tree, he prepared to chop once again, this time watching the Frankenstein and Baragon who had brought him to the temple rush into the forest while two other workers took their place and the Caesar shouted orders once again.

"Be careful son," the other Anguirus advised, watching him swing and cut deeply into the trunk of the tree. Ryu dug the axe out, and then swung again, listening to each crack in the tree while he chopped into it. With one final swing, Ryu heard the final crack of the long dead giant, and watched it fall into the forest as the others did before, stopping in midair before being set gently down.

"Okay there's one more," Ryu said to himself, walking over to the farthest left tree while the Caesar made sure to let the kaiju in the forest know to shift their positions. He got into his chopping stance once again, and raised his axe up, ready to strike. "Watch out everyone!" The tree almost groaned this time as the axe bit into it, with another swing it groaned some more, and then with the final swing, it let out one final groan, tumbling down into the forest, only being laid to rest by the kaiju within.

"That's it everyone! The trees have been cleared," the Caesar boomed, watching as everyone crowded around Ryu, thanking him profusely. The Caesar himself walked up and put his hand on Ryu's shoulder, smiling at him. "Thank you very much for your service sir, this will help us greatly in our construction of this temple. Is there any way we can repay you?"

"You're welcome. No, no it's okay," Ryu answered, his spikes softening again as he slung his axe on his back again. "I was just happy to help, that's all. Your two workers looked like they were really exhausted, so I hope this helps them all. Temple looks beautiful so far."

"Ah okay, and thank you very much sir, it's going to be our best work I think," the Caesar answered, taking his hand off Ryu's shoulder and looking at the back of the temple, watching his men each thank Ryu individually and then leave through the half-finished building. Soon it was only him and the elderly Anguirus left, who was looking at the stumps of the trees that Ryu had cut. "If you come back here some time, then I hope you can see the temple when it's fully completed. I know it'll bring kaiju from all around when this war ends…" The Caesar sighed, and then left Ryu alone with the elder, the former picking up the bag of his food to hang on his handle while he walked up to the elder. He stood next to him, looking at the stumps with him, and became lost in thought as he looked at the elder…. sighing deeply.

"You have such great strength young one," the elder spoke, looking up and down at Ryu, noticing the kaiju's sadness. "You're strong like King Hariken was in his youth… you know?"

"I know," Ryu sighed again, thoughts of his grandpa filling his mind while he talked with the elder. "Sometimes, I can't help but feel like I'm lost…. I left my grandpa a while ago…. but it's like…. Never mind…. I'm sorry, you remind me of him." The elder Anguirus looked at Ryu, and had him face him, putting both of his hands on his shoulders.

"Listen to me well son, you may be lost, but home is always in your heart." Ryu looked at the elder, a strange look of familiarity in the latter's eyes, and put his head down, replaying the words in his head. "Your journey may not be over yet…. but it is not as hard as it seems to be son. Remember this… You may be lost, but home is always in your heart. Always." Ryu nodded, and hugged the elder briefly, who reacted with a small gasp of surprise. "Now young one, shouldn't you be getting back to where you're staying? It's getting late."

"I will…. Thank you sir," Ryu answered, bowing down before the elder. "I was happy to help you all. Be careful okay?" Ryu turned around, and walked through the temple, waving goodbye to the elder who stayed at the stumps. He kept what the elder was saying to him replaying in his head, breathing in and out as he thought about what he would do in the next few months with his companions.

"You be careful too…. Prince Hariken," the elder whispered, smiling as he saw the younger Anguirus make his way through the temple.

Leo was bored. There was no other way to put it. He had already looked around the whole room, and as he now sat on one of the beds, all he could do was stare at the broadsword that was laying on the other bed. "Hazuki's sword… hmmm…. I wonder…" Leo stood up, keeping his wings folded against his body, and touched the broadsword, his hands and antennae glowing while he touched the handle. When the glow stopped, he got a closer look at the sword, examining it closely. The handle itself was very much like a katana handle with black fabric, only being quite bigger and longer to account for the size of the blade. There was no crossguard of any kind, only the handle feeding into the massive, long blade. The blade itself was straight like a uchi-katana blade, only having two sharp sides that ended in a single point as opposed to one sharp side and one blunt side. "What a strange weapon… hmmm…. it can cast an illusion on itself." As Leo said this, the sword faded back to the appearance it had before Leo cast his spell. Sighing again, Leo then covered the broadsword with a bedsheet, and peaked out of the window, looking out at the forest. "I need a break." The moth walked over to the door to the hallway, and gently opened the door, looking down it while he picked up the key to the room from a table next to one of the beds with one of his scythe arms. He stepped out fully, and locked the door, putting the key somewhere in his loincloth while he quietly walked to the stairs, looking at the doors of each room. "I wonder if there's anyone else here." Leo gently walked down the stairs, keeping his wings folded on himself as he finished walking down, and then opened the door to the main floor.

"Oh hey there." Leo nearly fell back, and then caught himself while he clutched his chest in relief. Colin was standing right there, holding a big mug, and with an equally surprised expression on his face. "How are ya doin sir? Sorry if I scared ya."

"No, no, it's okay," Leo answered, walking up and looking at the Gorosaurus, who placed his mug down on the front desk. "I'm doing fine, I just needed to take a walk and get some fresh air." Leo watched as Colin grabbed a rag and start polishing the mug while the moth leaned on a wall, fiddling with his blade's handle briefly.

"Ah, I see. You know…. I've rarely seen male Divine Moths." Colin finished polishing the mug, and beckoned Leo to follow him over to the bar. Leo did so, keeping his hands together while he wondered what would happen next.

"Well, what can I say? I'm quite rare," Leo said after a few minutes, while Colin leaned down on the bar's counter. Leo chuckled a bit, and then looked up at the Gorosaurus, a question forming on his mind. "Anything you wanna ask?"

"Well I've got one question. Divine Moth reproduce asexually regardless of their sex yes? It's just that Miyuki, Lora and I have been talking about having children for some time, but we don't know the best way about it." Leo looked down at this question, and rubbed his temple with two of his fingers, thinking of what to say.

"Yes they can…. Not that I want to have kids anyway," Leo sighed, looking down at the counter while he barely noticed Colin's look of concern. "Well, not yet. Give Lora time, and I'm sure all of you will have kids soon."

"Something on yer mind? Or someone? Whatever it is, it's troubling you," Colin observed, while Leo looked up at him sadly. "Ah. It is someone. Do you miss them?"

"I miss him so much," Leo answered, standing up and moving away from the bar. Colin followed him, and made eye contact with the moth. "Colin… tell me… do you have any advice for me? When our mission is over… I just want to make sure we're happy…" Colin put his fingers on his chin, thinking for a few moments.

"Hmmm…. Well I can tell ya this. Your partner loves you, no matter what." Leo looked at the Gorosaurus in stunned silence, while Colin smiled gently. "Sometimes you may think that you've let them down, and sometimes you may fight, but in the end, your partner loves you even if you are not perfect. We've been together for years, and we've had little to no problems. And that's my tip to you…" Leo rubbed the back of his head, while Colin still continued to smile, the moth feeling a little better inside.

"Thanks Colin," Leo finally said. "I guess this will go away in a few days… so… is there somewhere I can go to relax in here? Well, not too far from this Inn?" Colin smiled and then pointed at a door near the back of the main area of the inn.

"There's a garden out the back," Colin explained while Leo looked at the door curiously, feeling the side of his loincloth where the rose was. "We've got all sorts of flowers and fruits and vegetables out there. Go ahead, feel free to take a look sir." Leo nodded and walked to the door, while Colin went back to the bar counter, happily serving a Caesar and another Gorosaurus who had wandered in. Leo grabbed the handle and opened the door, walking out to a sunlit back yard surrounded by a small cobblestone wall that ran from the back of the inn all the way to the edge of the forest, keeping a small plot of land in the back. And true to Colin's word, there were several small areas that were sectioned off from the grass with flowers in them, and at the end of the back where several grapevines and vegetables were growing in wood planters, along with an orange and an apple tree. However, a good amount of the flowers seemed to be wilting, even though it was not winter. Leo looked around for a few seconds before he suddenly saw two kaiju standing in the middle of the garden, locked into a kiss.

"Oh!" Lora's gasp caused her and Miyuki to break their kiss and for Leo to blush and nearly hide his face in his flared-out wings, much like how Lora's wings were. "Oh wait, it's you," Lora sighed in relief, her wings folding back up while Miyuki blushed furiously. "Sorry, I thought you were someone else." Leo calmed down as well, his wings folding back on his body and watched the couple as they walked up to Leo. Miyuki stayed silent, her eyes narrowed at their moment being interrupted.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt you," Leo apologized, watching as Miyuki's face softened and Lora giggled a bit. "I just came out here to see the garden that Colin mentioned."

"No, no, it's okay," Lora continued to giggle, while Miyuki's blush never left her. "We were just having some fun."

"Sorry you had to see that," Miyuki continued, her face still red while she rubbed her wife's shoulder.

"No, it's okay," Leo said, somewhat happily as well, "It's always nice seeing two kaiju in love with each other…" Leo then walked around the garden with the couple, running his hand through the flowers, feeling the pulsing of the rose within his loincloth. "You have a beautiful garden, but I've noticed some of these flowers are dying."

"I know," Lora murmured, walking up to Leo sadly. "I've tried a lot to keep them alive, but they're still not doing well." She sighed, and Leo looked at his fellow moth, alongside Miyuki who hugged her from behind.

"Well… have you tried your magic? Lora?" Lora looked down, and Leo waited for her to respond.

"Sorry…. I don't know how to use it. I've tried…. But it doesn't work for me," Lora responded, her voice sounding very downbeat. Miyuki kissed her head, and looked at Leo, a pleading look in her eyes.

"Please… can you help?"

"I'll see what I can do here. I hope it makes up for interrupting you two," Leo answered as he flared his wings out, letting them absorb the sunlight while he clasped his hands and scythe arms together, feeling the rose pulsing with power. His eyes and his antennae started to glow green alongside his hands and wings, Lora and Miyuki looking while Leo moved to the middle of the garden. "Let me do this… Rose… Leviathan… let me help them!" Leo unclasped his hands raised them up to the sky, dispersing the energy all around the garden as it gently floated down onto the flowers and other plants, flowing into them as the parts of his body that were glowing stopped. The flowers perked up, and bloomed, their bright petals filling the garden with color.

"Thank you sir," Miyuki smiled, watching as Lora looked around the garden, happily observing and touching the rejuvenated flowers. "They're beautiful…" Leo nodded as he folded his wings against his body again, and then Lora ran up to him, grabbing his hands.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you! Hey… mister… brother," Lora grinned, her wings flapping rapidly. "I know you are going to go, but can you teach me to do that? My mother never taught me magic…. Please help me brother…" The word "brother" seemed odd to Leo, and for a moment he froze up…. trying to remember when the last time a Divine Moth had called him that. After a few seconds Leo unfroze, and looked at Lora's pleading eyes, breathing in gently before he spoke again.

"I will Lora. However there are a few things you need to know. First is that I am self-taught mostly, and while I can pass down this spell to you, you can also teach yourself as I did. Second is that spells like the one I used can be extremely draining, so be careful if you cast a spell like this. Just start off small when you channel energy, and make sure to follow my hand motions. Finally, use a spell like this only in emergencies, because these flowers still need the care they would normally get. Do you understand all that I've said?" Lora nodded happily, and Leo took her to the middle of the garden, making her sit down while Miyuki went to the apple tree and leaned against the trunk, smiling as she watched the traveler help her wife out.

"You're forgiven mister," Miyuki whispered, watching Lora's hands glowing.

When the sun was fully setting, and a dark-blue sky was eating up the light-blue sky, Leo and Lora stood up, and she hugged him, before going over to Miyuki and waving goodbye as he went back inside the inn, walked up the stairs, and unlocked the room, uncovering the sword and taking out the rose once again, looking down at it.

Then he heard the door knock, and standing up, he opened it, letting both Ryu and Hazuki back in the room.

They slept well that night.

Tako Village: The Next Day.

Akira sat in the sand, looking back at his Minka House, before he picked up a small stick and started drawing a small picture in the ground. He was five years old, and dressed in a black shirt and black pants, which were usually the only clothes he would wear. As he continued to draw, he briefly looked up and saw similar houses alongside the massive lake, listening to the sounds of happily children playing and running around. Akira sniffled a bit, and then went back to drawing on the sand, stepping back while he looked at the kanji symbol he had drawn. The kanji symbol was "友" and Akira smiled a bit at his handiwork, having finally figured out the right number of strokes to create it. "Son! Akira! Come here!" Hearing his mother's voice, Akira threw his stick away and quickly ran up to his house, sliding open the back door and running across the wood floorboards. "Ah. There you are my little one," a warm voice greeted the young Gojirasaur, making him stop right in the front entryway of his house. There was his father standing there, in his black and gold shirt and black pants, and next to him was his mother. She was wearing pants similar to his father's, a shirt like his, only with long sleeves that reached her wrists, and both the pants and shirt were purple in color with a gold trim as well. She was slightly shorter than his father, and while she did resemble his father from a first glance, her muzzle was shorter than his as well, with her scales being a lighter grey as well, and her body frame being slightly smaller than his. She had kind orange-yellow eyes, lacking some of the crimson red of his father's eyes, and a small smile on her face. Akira walked up to her, only to turn around and see two kaiju like his father and mother standing in the entryway. "You remember Iza and Nami, Akira?" Like him and his parents, Iza and Nami were Gojirasaur, although they looked very different from them. Iza was crossing both of his arms and smiling, while Nami held a small bundle in her arms, a tiny snout poking out from the folds of it.

"Oh I'm sure he does Lilith," Iza smiled, bending down to Akira who ran behind his mother's leg. The small Gojirasaur poked his head out, noticing another smaller shape come in the middle of Iza and Nami. "Well look at you, you're bigger than the last time we saw you." Akira continued to hide behind his mother's leg, causing Nami to chuckle a little bit.

"It's okay, you don't have to be scared. There's someone your parents and us want you to meet little one." Akira saw the smaller shape approach his mother's leg, and peak at Akira from the other side of it.

"Akira," his father smiled, gently nudging him forward. "Say hello to Rin." The shape was another Gojirasaur around Akira's size, only she looked very different from him. Her scales were purple, and her snout was longer than his, along with her tiny dorsal plates appearing more jagged than his more rounded ones. She was wearing a brown and red kimono, and on her face was a small smile. She stood back from his mother's leg, and Akira slowly but surely moved from behind it, walking up to the new arrival. "She's a year younger than you son, so be careful if you want to play with her." Akira looked at Rin, and tilted his head in curiosity, to which Rin did the same. She walked up to Akira, and then gripped his hands gently, Akira only flinching a bit as she held them.

"Hello! I'm Rin!" She smiled at Akira, which caused the latter to look away somewhat, still a bit nervous from earlier. "Don't be scared, silly. What's your name?" Akira slowly looked at Rin, noticing the big smile still on her face. He looked at her fully again, putting his head down while he tried to work up the courage to speak to her.

"A-A-Akira…. My name is Akira…. Nice to meet you Rin," Akira squeaked out, still nervous while she looked at him some more, taking her hands off his and walking around him.

"Akira…. Pretty name," she said, grabbing his hand again while both their parents looked down at their children happily. "Oh, that's my little sister, Aiko," Rin smiled, pointing at the bundle in Nami's arms. "She's still little, so she stays with Mama and Papa the whole time. You wanna play Akira?"

"Sure," Akira answered, a small smile making his way on his face. "Oto-san, Oka-san, is it okay?" Akira's parents looked down at him and nodded, causing the small smile to grow bigger while he led Rin out of the entryway, and to the back where he had been. "What do you want to do Rin?"

"Anything you want," she giggled, giving him a big hug while Akira looked back at the kanji he had drawn in the sand, hugged her back. His prayer had finally been answered.

Akira woke up in a cold sweat, panting while he looked at the sleeping form of Ryu next to him and then to Leo in the other bed. "Another memory…. Why does this keep happening?" The sun was shining gently through the window, causing Akira to rub his eyes as he sat up, his tail drooping over the edge of the bed. "…. Oto-San… Oka-San…." Akira moved out of bed quietly, and walked over to the window, looking outside. From behind him, a snort and a few grunts led Akira to turn around and see Ryu waking up, alongside Leo as the latter stretched his wings and the former sat up in bed, looking at Akira.

"Hazuki, you okay?"

"I'm fine Ryu, just thinking… that's all."

"Thinking about where to go next?" Akira nodded, answering Leo's question silently, and then slowly went over to his gear, picking it up to attach to himself. "Alright. Let's talk to Colin before we leave then."

"I'll pack our supplies Hazuki," Ryu said, getting up out of bed and moving over to the kitchen to pack the food. "You think that assassin is still out there?"

"Maybe," Akira answered, picking up his father's sword and the slinging it on his back. "We watch each other's backs when we leave here regardless." After quiet acknowledgment from Ryu and Leo, Akira reattached his Wakizashi and Tachi to his belt, and checked around the room one last time while the other two finished packing and started to make the room look as it did when they arrived. After ten minutes, they trio was ready to go, and they walked to the doorway, Leo opening it up so Ryu and Akira could walk through it. "This is it, from here on out we may not find inns like this. Are you two prepared for that?"

"I'm prepared," Ryu answered, taking one final look around the room. "I'm ready for anything Hazuki."

"And so am I," Leo continued, silently shutting the door and locking it. "Let's say goodbye first." The trio walked down the hallway and moved down the stairs, reaching the first floor of the inn. As they opened the door to the lobby, they noticed quite a few kaiju in the lobby, along with Miyuki and Lora behind the desk, and Colin at his bar, smiling when he noticed the trio.

"Hello! You three checking out?" Lora was very happy, and Miyuki was smiling as well, the two watching as the trio approached them and Leo gently set down the keys. She seemed especially happy to see Leo, who regarded her as well.

"We are Lora," Ryu replied, noticing Colin walking over. "Is your chief in town? We'd like to talk to him to see if there's any place that needs our attention."

"Well, yer lookin at him right now," Colin chuckled darkly, "Old one's off in the military, so I'm standin' in till he gets back. Now up north there's a place called Takarada Town, and if yer headin' there, be careful, because there've been constant attacks on the town by a gang of bandits. What's more, I've heard that their boss is a Gargantua with strange eyes, and that the whole gang has somethin' going on with them." Akira, Ryu, and Leo all looked at him, which gave Colin some pause. "Ah, so you do deal with that?"

"We do," Akira answered quietly, watching as Colin reached into his pants and pulled out a dark brown folded map.

"Here ya go," Colin said, unfolding the map and showing it to the trio. "You leave this way through the village, and when you reach this bridge right here, cross it and you go on the left path. From there you cross through Mt Eiji and you should find it right there. You understand?"

"Yes, thank you very much Colin," Leo answered, while both Akira and Ryu nodded in agreement. "Thank you very much for letting us stay here."

"No, thank you all," Miyuki said, smiling happily. "I think the three of you helped out here more than you thought. We'll never forget you sirs…. Have safe journey and may Spicae protect you."

"You stay safe too Miyuki, Lora, Colin," Ryu smiled, bowing down briefly, "And may Spicae protect you as well." With that, Colin, Lora, and Miyuki waved goodbye, and the trio walked out of the inn, Akira pointing over to where to take the path out of the village. As they walked on the path, eating some fruit for breakfast, Ryu looked back at the temple, seeing the workers heading in for another day of work. Leo could see a brief light coming from the inn, and the silhouette of Lora standing over a potted plant. Akira glanced at the blacksmith's shop as they passed it by, and saw a small child standing in an alley next to it, waving goodbye to him one last time. Akira waved back, and then alongside Ryu and Leo, left Tako Village, setting off into the forest once again. Behind them remaining unseen, Helios followed, one of his heads glancing up momentarily into the sky to see several shapes flying high. And so he continued his mission, as did the trio in front of him.

"Hey Hazuki, can I see the map for a moment?" Akira handed the map to Ryu, while Leo flew overhead, making sure to scout out the path before them. After looking it over, Ryu handed it back to Akira, who put it away while Ryu listened quietly as they moved their way through the forest. "Any minute now, we'll come to the waterfall and the bridge. You okay Hazuki?" Akira nodded, and started to listen as well, holding up his hand to stop Ryu as he watched Leo suddenly land, and flare out his wings.

"There's none of those creatures ahead of us," Leo muttered, pointing to the left, "I can hear the waterfall in that direction." Akira and Ryu both followed the moth as the trees grew fewer in number, a thundering roar in the distance growing louder and louder. The warm air seemed to grow cooler as well, Ryu shivering a bit. The trees all disappeared while they kept on walking, leaving a big patch of grass and dirt in front of them, right on top of a massive precipice, and on the end of the precipice was a massive bridge, with wide dark-brown wooden planks, a metal structure underneath which kept the bridge standing tall, and with pointed guardrails, chains linked between them. The bridge was covered in a light mist, which was slowly floating over from a massive waterfall to the left, white water cascading down into a deep river below, thus revealing the source of the mist.

"Here it is," Ryu observed, bending down to one knee and trying to peek through the mist. "Can't see where it ends, or if there's anyone else on there."

"Then we'll cross all at once," Akira interrupted, looking at both of his companions. "Leo, can you scan the bridge while we're crossing?"

"I can…. There's something not right here," Leo murmured. He folded his wings against his body, and his antennae started to glow. "I'll stay close to the ground…." With that the group moved forward, Akira's claws scraping the bridge just a bit as they stepped on, and a groan echoed throughout. Slowly, they continued to walk, the bridge occasionally creaking in tandem with the roar of the waterfall. The light mist seemed to almost cover up the sun, which caused Ryu to look around nervously at the bridge, wondering when they would get to the other side. As more creaks and groaning filled the air, Leo's focus still remained on the path ahead, the moth determined to not let anyone else take them by surprise. The mist felt cold, something which Akira ignored while he pressed on, his dorsal plates hardening as a sense of danger filled his senses, especially when he noticed the other end of the bridge coming out, along with another precipice similar to the one they had left.

"Hey, we've made it!" Ryu's relief lasted for a few seconds, when Leo suddenly gasped and a loud thud echoed throughout the bridge. Right at the exit of the bridge stood a large dark shape, a low rumbling growl coming from it. The shape approached them, reached behind with its right hand and pulling out a fairly large claymore, the blade making a slick slicing noise. The figure stopped, and most of the mist cleared, allowing the trio to see who was facing them clearly enough. "Oh…. Excuse me sir…. Can you let us pass, please?" It was a male horned Gorosaurus standing before them with blue and yellow scales, wearing purple and gold clothes, a big sash over his half-opened shirt, a wrist guard on his right hand, and two shin guards over his gold pants. His strange blue eyes were almost serene, and yet piercing at the same time…. his slits starting to narrow while he looked at the trio.

"Let ya pass? Aye, I'll let ya pass," the Gorosaurus chuckled, which made Ryu quiver in fear and caused Leo's eyes to grow wider as he read more of his thoughts. "Of course…. You could pass if I was feelin' merciful today…." Akira looked at the blade, noticing how well forged it seemed to be, much like his own Tachi blade.

"So much anger…. So much hatred…. What happened to you?" Leo's question did not go unheard by the warrior, who glared at the moth, causing Akira to step in front of him. Akira gripped his tachi handle, while Ryu reached his hand back to grab his axe.

"Hahahahaha! So it isn't enough you go around messin' with other kaiju's minds, but now you go ahead and threaten me? Go on then…. challenge old William McLeod, you whelps!" Akira suddenly held his hand out to the side, keeping Ryu from running forward. "Eh? What's this?!"

"You want a fight don't you old man? I'll fight you alone, right here, right now….. only if you let my friends finish crossing this bridge. And if I beat you, then you let me go with them, is that fair?" Ryu heard Akira's tone, and removed his hand from his axe as the Gorosaurus, or rather William as he called himself, grinned widely.

"Ah, offerin' yerself up eh? Maybe you are a worthy warrior after all, you got yerself a deal then boy…. I'll give you a few minutes…. Heh heh heh." William buried his sword into part of the bridge, and crossed his arms, waiting for Ryu and Leo to leave.

"Please, don't get yourself killed," Ryu sighed, looking up at Akira as a look of determination took over his face.

"I won't Ryu," Akira replied, walking over and patting the Angurius's shoulders. "Stay over there, until I'm done with this." Ryu nodded and walked over the rest of the bridge, glancing at William briefly.

"Hazuki….. He's not a member of the third faction… but he's so full of anger and hatred…. Be careful," Leo warned, shutting of his telepathy as he opened up his wings. Akira nodded, and watched as Leo flew overhead, going with Ryu to the other side. With that, William laughed again and walked up to Akira while picking up his sword, the two standing in front of each other while the waterfall continued to crash.

"Hm." The bridged groaned once again, and just as quickly, William swung down at Akira, the Gojirasaur parrying the blow with his quickly drawn blade, blasting away part of the mist around them. William struck again, a wild look in his eyes as Akira continued to parry his blows, more of the mist surrounding disappearing into the air as the sword blows rained down. The more William struck, the more Akira moved back, the bridge creaking and groaning while the mist was dispersed more and more. "You aren't fighting boy! Are you holdin' back?!" Akira continued to block, stepping back more and more and watching as William grew more frenzied, wondering why his claymore had not broken against the Tachi. Akira blocked once more and then quickly headbutt the other kaiju, before he leapt up and brought his own sword down on the claymore, hearing a loud clang as more of the mist was cleared away by the strike. Much to his surprise, the claymore was not broken, to which William retaliated by punching Akira in the stomach, and sent him sliding across the bridge. "Starmetal boy….. You have an interesting blade too…. It won't save you!" Akira quickly leapt back up as William roared and charged, rushing at the Gorosaurus while he held his blade out to his left side, swinging forward as they clashed again, their swords dispersing more of the mist as the loud clangs mixed in with the roar of the waterfall and the groans of the bridge, sparks flying while Ryu and Leo watched nervously from the other side. William blocked another blow and then punched Akira in the face, which caused the Gojirasaur to stumble back and put his hand over his face, allowing William to slam his tail onto the ground and kick Akira with a double kick, sending the Gojirasaur flying near the right edge of the bridge. Akira hit the chains, and nearly fell off into the ravine below, before he caught himself and threw himself back on the bridge, looking up when he noticed a descending shadow.

"Fine, you won't go down easily, you stubborn bastard." Akira leapt up and slashed as William did at the same time, the claymore cutting into part of Akira's chest, and drawing blood. However, Akira could feel his blade pull tautly, and then landed gently over to the side Ryu and Leo were watching from. He felt some dampness on his shirt, both from the mist and the blood, and grunted, turning around to see William facing away from him, looking at his left hand. Blood dripped from the hand, and turning around slowly, Akira could see the deep cut he had made on William's chest. The Gorosaurus sniffed his hand, and licked the blood off of it, a low growl emanating from his throat while Akira held out his sword again the mist having been completely cleared away now.

"You drew blood boy…. A mistake I will not let you make again….." William suddenly roared loudly, and his eyes became slitted completely as he raised his sword up to the sky and took off running towards Akira, the Gojirasaur doing the same as their combined weight started to make the bridge shake. William's slashes where frenzied, both from his sword and from the claws on his other hand, something which Akira kept in mind as he blocked and dodged each blow rapidly. William laughed and then reared back, biting Akira in his shoulder and tossing him over his shoulder, before roaring again and leaping onto the fallen Gojirasaur with a shoulder stab. As he reared his head up again, Akira fired off an atomic ray, blowing the other warrior off of him and allowing him to get up and rush towards William, who roared again and charged rapidly. The bridge shook as the two clashed their starmetal blades against each other rapidly, Akira's rapid slashes being methodical and planned out, while William was as wild and brutal as a velociraptor, the two keeping up their clash while Ryu and Leo observed the fight, the former putting his hand over his mouth and the latter keeping his gaze on the clashing swords of the warriors. With one more clash, the two warriors locked their blades together, twisting themselves around, Akira grimacing while William smiled, licking his lips with his tongue, and then the two broke their lock, with Akira ending up near Ryu and Leo, and William ending up on the other side. Akira fell to one knee, grunting as he touched his wounds, and then looked at William, the Gorosaurus licking more blood off of his hand as he laughed wildly, preparing his sword for one last strike. "GO ON BOY! FINISH THIS!" Akira stood up and gripped his Tachi with both hands, holding it to his side and raising it up, breathing gently while he and William waited for the other to make their move.

"I must not fear… fear is the mind killer."

The bridge creaked and groaned once more.

The two warriors charged each other, and as soon as they made contact, swung their blades one last time.

Akira turned around, and watched William's claymore fly into the air and bury itself in one of the wooden planks on the bridge. William collapsed to his knees, and felt a newly opened wound on his chest, falling face first to the ground. The Gorosaurus started to crawl towards his sword, only to suddenly see a shadow fall over him, and rolled around to his back, seeing Akira standing over him with his blade pointed directly at his face. "Well…. congratulations….. you are a worthy warrior…. Now….. finish the job…" Akira kept his blade in front of William's face, breathing heavily, while Ryu moved forward, along with Leo. "…. What are you waiting for warrior?! JUST DO IT! YOU'VE WON! END MY LIFE! I HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO LIVE FOR!" William's smile had faded, and now the Gorosaurus had a desperate look in his eyes, almost reaching up to grab the Tachi blade. Akira kept his sword pointed at him, but moved it out of his reach.

"Why?"

"Just do it….. you are a worthy warrior…. Only a warrior like you could take my life…. And….. I have nothing to live for….. do it…" William looked up at the young kaiju before him wondering why he was hesitating in finishing him off. He was a warrior after all, and wouldn't a good warrior finish off his opponent as he lay at his feet? "….. Please…." The young kaiju raised up his sword, and William closed his eyes, hearing the sound of the blade whooshing through the air, followed by the sound of a dull impact. William opened his eyes, and saw the young kaiju standing over him, his sword in his sheath. "What?"

"It is not up to me to decide if you live or die, because as far as I can see…. You're hurting. I don't know what happened to you or who you lost…. but this is not the way to deal with this," Akira stated flatly, looking down at William who had a shocked expression on his face. "You say you have nothing left to live for, but maybe you do….. you just don't know it yet." Akira noticed William's expression change to one of familiarity, before he looked up at Ryu and Leo. "This fight is over. Leo…. Can you heal him?"

"You sure Hazuki? I don't know," Ryu asked looking back at the claymore sticking out of the ground. "What if he attacks us again?" William still stayed silent, clutching his chest wound while he listened to the warriors talking. "Are you sure about this?"

"I am sure."

"Well if you are, then yes I can," Leo answered, kneeling over William and holding his hands out over the fallen warrior. Akira moved over to where Ryu was, and watched as William nearly flinched as a healing light spread throughout his body, his wounds sealing up. "Hey," Leo said, William turning his head to look at him, "You may be tough and all, but blind rage doesn't solve your problems. Guess you really are a dinosaur then, old man." The glow stopped and William looked down at his chest, the pain fading away and his breathing returning to normal. "Your turn Hazuki." Leo stepped over William, and did the same to Akira, healing his wounds while William continued to observe the group. After that, the three looked at William, who managed to get into a kneeling position as the mist slowly returned to the bridge.

"You won young one. I'm a kaiju of my word, you may go," William said, bowing his head down. "You are a good warrior….. protect your friends well…."

"Thank you," Akira responded, before turning around to go. "I hope you find the peace you need….. I still have yet to find mine."

"… Be careful when you're traveling," Ryu advised, looking at the Gorosaurus with a sense of pity. "There are dangerous kaiju out there, ones in dark robes…." William suddenly looked up in surprise, which Ryu responded by silently nodding as if in confirmation to a silent question, and then turned to leave with Akira and Leo. Suddenly, as the three crossed near a bush, out leapt a massive triceratops with a saddle, bellowing angrily.

"GAR! NO!" William's shout made the triceratops stop, and then calmly move past the kaiju to the bridge, helping William stand up while he watched the trio glance back at him once more, before they turned around and looked at two paths, taking the one on the left through the mountains. Gar sniffed William's chest, the kaiju patting his beak, and snorted while William picked up his sword, cleaning the blood off of it in the grass before he leapt up on Gar's saddle, and urged him to walk to the two paths. "I'm okay lad….. don't worry," William reassured the triceratops, patting his side gently. As he sat, looked at the two paths, and began to think to himself about what had happened, along with the remark the young Gojirasaur had said. "I finally find a worthy warrior, and yet he spares me… even though I pushed him to his absolute limit…. Why wouldn't he take my life? Why? The way he fought…. What he said to me after he spared me…. It's almost like…. How Ishiro fought and spoke….. Is he a student of his? What do I do now? I don't….. I don't know….."

William spent a good amount of time looking at the two paths before him, breathing in and out as he thought about his life and what decision to make.

Eventually, he made his decision, fully prepared to face whatever would meet him on this path, and primed to meet whatever fate was planned for him.

The bridge was covered in the mist fully once again, and the waterfall roared once again, echoing loudly throughout the area. Thus, life went on.
