Chapter 5 - Rule #71; NO RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT! (HAZEL! DO NOT MAKE PERCY LOOK LIKE HE'S IN HIS MID 30'S, I SWEAR!)
Chiron was enjoying his third cup of coffee, when he saw Dionysus turn on the TV.
"Good morning America! Today we have news about the 2024 election! A new candidate, running as an independent! His name is… Peter Johnson! And his pitch is universal child care… more homeless shelters for youth, and better laws in the protection of orphaned children! Also to cut down, and even eliminate water pollution!"
Chiron spit out his coffee at the same time as the candidate came up on screen.
"It's Peter Johnson!" Dionysus cried.
"PERSEUS!" Chiron shouted. The mist flickered around his form, and in the place of the 30 year old man that had been there a second ago, stood a 16 year old boy.
None of the mortals seemed to notice, and Chiron spotted Hazel at the corner of the screen standing in a shadow with Nico and Annabeth.
Chiron trotted out, and with some help from a god or two who owed him favors he was in the capitol within minutes.
By the time Chiron arrived the press conference had ended, but he used a little mist manipulation to get the location of the hotel his demigods were staying in out of a mortal newscaster.
He opened the door to his room, and there stood his beautiful children… who were about to be murdered…
Piper was putting makeup on Percy's face with Leo's help.
Jason, Will, and Nico were making sure the lighting looked good.
While Thalia, Reyna, and Clarisse looked over the script Annabeth had written for Perseus to read.
Frank was supplying emotional support for Hazel, while the Stolls hid the stuff they had stolen.
"NO RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!" Chiron cried, ripping his list from his pocket, and scribbling it down.
The demigods stopped, and dropped what they were doing.
Everything was silent… "Buzz kill." Clarisse muttered.
"Party pooper!" Harley, who had apparently been hiding in the closet, cried.
As the demigods followed Professor Brunner down the stairs and out the building with their heads hung, a secretary of some sort grabbed Percy's arm.
"Mr. Johnson, where are you going!? We have a meeting with the Head of the Senate in half an hour!"
"Janice, I'm withdrawing from the election." He tried to console her.
"But the ocean's sea life needs you! This country needs you!" Suddenly she collapsed, and Thalia stood behind her victorious.
Her hand had been right next to Janice's head. Everyone gaped at her. "What?" She shrugged. "She annoyed me, it was only a little shock… she'll live."
Thalia gave the body a nodge with her foot. "I think…"
Chiron put his head in his hands, sometimes he felt like screaming, honestly.
