The more experiments you make the better Any idiot can face a crisis - it's day to day living that wears you out. Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact. But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth. Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first. Every man dies. Not every man really lives. God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny I still find each day too short for the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see I think I've discovered the secret of life - you just hang around until you get used to it. It is not length of life, but depth of life. Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh. Life is a dream for the wise, a game for the fool, a comedy for the rich, a tragedy for the poor. Literature is mostly about having sex and not much about having children. Life is the other way round. A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon. All war is deception. All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers. He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice. I'm fed up to the ears with old men dreaming up wars for young men to die in. In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons. It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets. It seems like such a terrible shame that innocent civilians have to get hurt in wars, otherwise combat would be such a wonderfully healthy way to rid the human race of unneeded trash. Man has no right to kill his brother. It is no excuse that he does so in uniform: he only adds the infamy of servitude to the crime of murder Mankind must put an end to war before war puts an end to mankind. Older men declare war. But it is the youth that must fight and die. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war that we know about peace, more about killing that we know about living. Patriots always talk of dying for their country and never of killing for their country. The best weapon against an enemy is another enemy. The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic. The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his. The victor will never be asked if he told the truth. War does not determine who is right - only who is left. War grows out of the desire of the individual to gain advantage at the expense of his fellow man. War is only a cowardly escape from the problems of peace. We have war when at least one of the parties to a conflict wants something more than it wants peace. A dying man needs to die, as a sleepy man needs to sleep, and there comes a time when it is wrong, as well as useless, to resist. A man who won't die for something is not fit to live. From my rotting body, flowers shall grow and I am in them and that is eternity. I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure I shall not die of a cold. I shall die of having lived. Life is better than death, I believe, if only because it is less boring, and because it has fresh peaches in it. Men fear death as children fear to go in the dark; and as that natural fear in children is increased by tales, so is the other. Millions long for immortality who don't know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Some men are alive simply because it is against the law to kill them. Some people are so afraid do die that they never begin to live. Suicide is man's way of telling God, "You can't fire me - I quit." They tell us that suicide is the greatest piece of cowardice... that suicide is wrong; when it is quite obvious that there is nothing in the world to which every man has a more unassailable title than to his own life and person. To himself everyone is immortal; he may know that he is going to die, but he can never know that he is dead. When you're dead, you're dead. That's it. While I thought that I was learning how to live, I have been learning how to die. Reasons for not writing: I do not write (often) because not of lack of skill but lack of drive and dicipline. I simply do not possess a want to to publish work and have people see it. My Bashing Rant: After years of looking at this site (started at age 10, I'm almost 18 now) I realize that I no longer have much passion for seeing a character bashed that often, even if they're a character I don't particulary like. If I do see character bashing, it has to be so subtle and feel so natural that I don't realize it's bashing until I'm done reading that part. But if that's the case, then it's not really bashing, is it? Nope it's just how the story is. Bashing to me, is immature. If you write a story and bash a character you didn't like in the source material, you're just acting like a little kid who didn't get the toy they wanted. Bashing does not allow one to write the character or a version of the character naturally. Instead, it comes off that you maximize the character's bad traits while overlooking their better traits. Also, many times the bashing is based on fanon concept insead the actual. For example, we'll use Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto: Fanon Sasuke: "How does he have such power? I'm an Uchiha! I deserve that power! I swear, Naruto, I'll find your secrets and take your power!" Actual Sasuke/Well Written Sasuke: "When did he get so powerful?! I need power to kill HIM! If the dobe is stronger than me, how can avenge my clan?!" See the difference? The fanon version is a whiny little bastard while the actual/well written Sasuke is whiny but not a bastard. There will always be characters that have traits that we don't like but does this mean the character is bad. Bashing that character does not allow one to take a story seriously, mostly because a character is bashed simply to make other characters around them look better or seem in the right. In conclusion, bashing is a cancer that is seriously infecting the Fanfiction community. Rant Continued: You know I've come to realize just how funny bashing can be, as long as you put it under humor and tell me to not take it seriously. When you try to bash a character and tell me to take it seriously, is when I shake my head and turn away from the story. I can understand not liking a character, but you can't let that cloud your judgment. Sasuke Rant: This is a subdivision of my bashing rant. Mainly because he's subject to a lot of hate that I no longer understand. When the Naruto series started, I liked the character. He was a perfect foil for Naruto. He was competent, intelligent and serious. When the Chunin exams came around, I was excited to see how things would go and I wasn't disappointed. It was nice to see him forming bonds with those around him. Then it came to the Sasuke Retrieval Arc and for awhile I fell into the mindless hate that suddenly sprung up for the character. After about a year or two of that I started to reevaluate my opinion. I've come to realize that Sasuke is by far one of the most realistic characters in the series. He was mentally tortured for a span of 24 HOURS at the age of 8! That would naturally cause anyone to be unstable in some manner. The series did a good job of displaying that. Before anyone starts thinking I'm some gigantic fanboy of Sasuke, let me try my hand at every point that people strike against his character: 1. He gets everything handed to him: Where did this come from?! He trains just like everyone else. It's a common fact that EVERYONE in the Narutoverse trains or experiments to gain power or new abilities. Also, the series is called NARUTO. So typically the focus is on Naruto and his ordeals and training. Hence, we don't get to see anyone else's training. But it's funny. Kakashi improves over the timeskip, no one questions it. Sakura improves, no one questions it and all we got is like two scenes of her training with Tsunade and Tsunade did nothing but lecture in just one of them! Shikamaru, Neji, and Gaara improve and people love it. Sasuke improves, and people feel he's overpowered. Do remember that Sasuke's goal is to kill one of the most powerful ninja in the entire world. He did nothing but train and train. He had no distractions, a teacher that wanted him to mature his abilities as far as possible in all areas, a lot of natural talent, a good level of intelligence, the Sharingan and was introduced to elemental jutsu long before the timeskip. People always said he had to makings of being better than Itachi, so I don't know why this comes as a surprise. 2. The Sharingan Cheats: They're ninja, plain and simple. You can take the ethnic high road all you want, but the point is that at the end of the day, you use whatever you can to complete the mission. I'm not saying you throw your comrades under the bus, but in battle, you use whatever you can to win. The Sharingan is just a tool that some ninja can use. If you have a Kekkei Genkai, why wouldn't you use it? Also, Sasuke has been known to copy only one real technique, the Shadow Leaf technique, which he got from Lee, who was technically an enemy at that time. Also, Sasuke's Lion Combo is something he created himself. He adapted it from Lee's style, true, but it's a move only he ever used and he's only used it 1 time (in the Manga). Sasuke has used his Sharingan more for analytic purposes than anything else. And don't say he just copied the Chidori as he had to be trained to use it. |
