![]() Author has written 16 stories for Harry Potter, and Doctor Who. I've written loads. Loads have been scrapped. What you see here are the few things that I think are worth putting up for you all to point at and laugh, detest, or actually like. What I have written is seen below, but for those who dislike scrolling up and down a page, I will give a little detail up here. The Shadow and I Harry Potter fic: A one-shot of Nagini's death, looking back on her life previous to her connection with Tommy boy, I mean, Voldemort. (Interestingly enough, the corrector I have tells me that I mean demoralize. Rather fitting considering what he does the Ministry.) Dudley Dursley: The Face in the Sky Harry Potter fic: Ah, my first ever project, slightly rushed but oh, well. A mini adventure that Dudley ended up taking after he and Harry Potter parted ways in Little Whinging. A bit of Dursley bashing, and most certainly AU. How It Could Have Ended: What A Bad Idea Harry Potter fic: I mean, people can have the strangest reactions to the most basic of things, can't they? How It Could Have Ended: At The Hand Of The Other Harry Potter fic: One-shot. Harry reinterprets the prophecy halfway through fighting Voldemort. A Caprine Discussion Harry Potter Challenge fic: A mountainous hideaway brings forth a strange discussion between Dean Thomas and Ernie MacMillan, later including Roger Davies. I Stand Alone Harry Potter Challenge fic: One-shot. Lee Jordan and Fleur Delacour find they have something in common before the Mirror of Erised. Coming Up: A new project of mine that I'm taking seriously in the middle of my big exam time is on the horizon. Think ahead thirty years: Hogwarts has a new golden trio coming to join them; Oswald MacLeod, Nathaniel Brenton and Leonore Fontaine. Oswald MacLeod is the foretold Guardian of the MacLeodian Hallows, three objects of immense power which are under threat from theft and destruction, which would result in the death of all true descendants. Of course, he knows nothing about them, having grown up with out his parents. In an orphanage. He comes to face his destiny the day a tall mysterious stranger named Fiennes comes to take him away... No Longer in progress. I just couldn't get in to it. *hop hop hop* Sorry, but a plot bunny hopped in to my head and I had to write it down. After a while it just exapnded and... well... It became Neville Longbottom and the Road of Discovery. Hope you enjoy. It's not abandoned. Honest!I lie, it's abandoned. *hop hop hop* Argh, where did all these bunnies come from? It'll take months to clear them out, by which time a continuation of the Dursley series will be coming along nicely, I hope. Won't be published for a while, but hopefully written. If life will stop being in my way... Also not abandoned. Just few and far between. *hop hop hop* More and More bunnies. I took on a couple of challenges and was inspired to do something like What A Bad Idea. And thus A Caprine Discussion, I Stand Alone and At The Hand Of The Other emerged.. Also in the works is the usual 'Someone else raised Harry' shebang you've probably seen around, where Harry is taken by Remus, Sirius or Severus, maybe even as a gay couple? But have you ever seen Harry raised by Rita Skeeter...? This is my ranting space, in which I rant about things that grate my gears in Harry Potter, fanfiction or otherwise. Cause I've got some things I'd like to say... Sirius Black.I really don't like Sirius. He's one of those characters who I just can't bring myself to even respect. He's a hypocritical, brainless coward, and I have evidence to back that up.- "If you want to see the true measure of a man, watch how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." Yet he still treats Kreacher like shit after all these years. Personally, I don't buy in to the excuse that Kreacher is a bitter reminder of his childhood amongst the load of dark wizards and witches who are supposedly his family because even then he should be able to man the fuck up and move on. He's stuck in the past and angsting over how terrible his childhood was and that he had to run away to be with his little boyfriend. Oh yeah, I'm in full support of the fact that Sirius is gay what with the way he's always going about James this, James that and his over-exaggerated sexual boasts, but that talk's for another time. (EDIT: SEPTEMBER 2015. Looking at this again, it may seem like I've read too much fanfiction - I don't recall any sexual boasting, even PG-rated, in canon. I guess it all blends in to one big story eventually. Nonetheless, the rest still stands, and it remains that I believe that Sirius was in some way or another sexually obsessed with James. Which, by the way, puts his relationship with Harry in a rather disturbing light.)- Also, he went off after Peter Pettigrew, rather than doing the right thing which is make sure that his godson is going to be okay before doing anything that could possibly change how he is going to grow up. Did he not once stop to consider that if he actually had killed Pettigrew on that night, he would still have been arrested for murder? I highly doubt it. No, he'd rather go off and claim 'vengeance' on his high-school crush's death rather than do his duty as had been requested of him by said high-school crush and raise his son. He didn't even ask where Hagrid was taking him, I mean fuck, he even gave the man his flying bike to take him. Pathetic. Also, why do people think he was arrested for betraying the Potters? Sure, it's a reprehensible thing, but ignoring the fact that he didn't do it I doubt there's a law stating that telling people the secret of a fidelius charm is illegal. As a supposed Death Eater, sure he could be arrested, but without a mark that goes completely out the window. People aren't arrested for opinions, but terrorist acts are illegal. But no, he was arrested for killing a wizard and twelve muggles. That's his crime. Proving that he wasn't the secret keeper is irrelevant. Proving he didn't kill Wormtail and the muggles is what they should work on disproving. I will also never like Severus Snape. I had guessed from the end of Philosopher's Stone that he was a good guy, and I was never swayed from that. But he was nothing more than a petty, cruel, sadistic, pathetic excuse of a man who did everything in his power to do as little as possible for Harry. He did the bare minimum, and only because he'd been forced in to doing it by Dumbledore. I cannot believe that Harry named his second son after the man who effectively stalked his mother. What a freaking idiot. The Hospital Wing. I've done a spot of research in to how many Harry has been there for treatment over his Hogwarts career. As it turns out, he has only been there six times. That's right, six. On average once per year he actually attended Hogwarts. For a school where magic exists and accidents can happen easily, I don't think six times over six years is too shabby. So I request that people stop insisting it's like he practically lives there. He doesn't. He's been kept over night there for six nights, half of which was at the end of his first year. Transfiguration. If there's one thing in fan-fiction that grates on my nerves so much, it's probably this. "Transfiguration is easy, all you have to do is really want it to happen, and it will." If that wasn't bad enough, Professor McGonagall is shocked that she has never thought of this before. Despite Transfiguration being supposedly 'one of the hardest subjects you will learn at Hogwarts', people seem to enjoy trivialising this branch of magic. Is just wanting something to happen meant to be enough? So the wand motion isn't important? And nor is the important law of physics stating that things can't lose mass? Transfiguration is supposed to be hard. I doubt really wanting something makes it any easier. Why are the Goblins in charge of wills? Who came up with this? They run a bank, and last I checked banks don't execute wills, the closest family member becomes the executor of the estate. I doubt any pureblood wizard would claim a freaking goblin as the executor of their estate as they will hold no claim to the family. At most you could ask the bank about a will, and they may point you in the right direction, but don't expect them to have a physical copy. That's just stupid. Speaking of goblins, why is Griphook suddenly so important? He does two things; take Harry to his vault for the first time, and run in to them in the Forest and get dragged in to their attempt of thievery. He controls the cart at Gringotts, and that's it. And who the heck is Ragnok? Yeah, I've found Ragnuk the first, the Goblin who was involved with Gryffindor (not in that way), but that's spelt with a 'u'. Do people really just jump and these bandwagons that roll along out of nowhere? "Oh yeah, Ragnok. He was in charge of the goblins in one fic I read, so I must do the same in mine!" Really guys. Have some originality, even if it is just changing the goblin king's name. I like Independent!Harry fics, but how many are actually independent?Seriously, most of them involve Harry getting a load of money, freedom from the Dursleys and some kind of magical training, but end up with him wrapped around the finger of some girl or guy. Yet the author declares that Harry is independent? Maybe some clarity as to what they mean by 'independent' is required, as in 'independent from Dumbledore' is not the same as regular, good old 'independent'. Basically, this is the idea for a plot I have developing, where Harry just doesn't get on with authority figures at all, to the point of being incapable of doing anything, thus spurning him on to actually better himself. Bad-ass Useless Animagi. It's incredible! Harry can turn into a stag/panther/nundu/big cat/strong animal. Not to mention that it's unregistered for 'security reasons'. Yeah, it's all great, but my word is it impractical. Take a look at the known animagi - all have an use in hiding, barring James Potter's. A beetle, domestic cats, dogs, rats. Inconspicuous, and functional. Very handy if you don't want to be noticed. And then... we have a giant cat, not native to the country. If someone sees one not in a zoo, it will raise alarm bells. That's the opposite of hiding. Nice going. Then, when it actually comes to a battle, it is almost never used. It's just a quirk that he has that someone thought would be cool and a good way of padding out a few hundred words here and there. Great job, love, you wrote something I'll probably skip over. Maybe next time, make it useful and plot relevant, or just don't put it in. 'Kay? |
