![]() Author has written 4 stories for Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. Word of the Amateur: Greetings and a hearty welcome to this my current and modest abode on the fan fiction network and Archive of Our Own. After a long period of incessant rewriting of my only posted, though since removed, work on this site (314th's parallel and The Magical Commune), I have decided to start from scratch and rebuild these and other planned stories for release in this publication. I intend to make every use of these stories to experiment with narratives, characters and writing forms to better my skills as an aspiring writer. I hope that these and other stories, once posted, will be enjoyable to those who read them. Thank you for patronage, A Lover of Nature. About Me: As I am only actively working on Lost Fleet of the Republic for the foreseeable future, I thought I would add an entry about that story. I admit it is an odd choice to write a Sequel trilogy-Kotor crossover, and while it might have started on a whim, it's now much more than that. Kotor introduced me to Star Wars and the Sequel trilogy for better and for worse is the first Star Wars trilogy I watched in theatres as a fan. I have a love-hate relationship with both entries: While I adore the Kotor series, it also represents an incomplete trilogy superseded by The Old Republic, that while I enjoy the later game, I have a lot of problems with what it did with the Kotor material. Think of it as how an OT fan would have felt if Episode 6 happened three centuries after Episode 5, as a TV series rather then a movie, with Han Solo waking up to discover everyone he knew is dead and Luke is a mind-controlled zombie of the Emperor. For those reasons, I am a Kotor purist, but I will try to respect that material where it does not interfere with what I have in mind for Kotor's characters and stories. I also think the fandom has a problem with identifying with the playable character Revan a bit too much rather than the personality implanted into him/her by the Jedi we actually play. I see Revan according to how I imagine him/her from what's said about him/her, mostly in Kotor 2, which says a lot about his/her military genius and leadership skills but also about his/her brutality, ego, and how the darkness started even before the Mandalorian Wars. The Sequel Trilogy, while not as important to me as Kotor, is an even stranger love-hate relationship. I think people who played and loved Kotor 2 probably understand what Last Jedi tried to do with very, and I mean very, mixed results. I will be the first to agree that while the film is certainly not by any means the worst in the franchise, it does leave much to be desired, and in my view, did not go far enough and ultimately failed to even be a Star Wars film in terms of its lack of any real progression for the characters (everyone more or less starts and ends the film in the same place that they were at the end of TFA)Last Jedi as a concept still has, in my view, a lot of unrealized potential and I aim to keep to continue from it rather than rewrite it. By combining it with Kotor I hope to enrich the sequel trilogy with characters, locations, and a wider galactic history to give that era the distinction from the OT it lacked. The Kotor series, in turn, will get the closure it never received in the games. Lost Fleet thus aims to reconstruct the two properties, improve on them, and realize their promise. Rise of Skywalker will play a role in Lost Fleet and its planned sequels. Despite its flaws, I did enjoy some of it, and there are ideas in there I think could be developed further, though ultimately, I will be doing my own thing based on rather than leading to that conclusion. I have taken an interest in the Duel of the Fates movie concept which I plan to weave into the story along with my ideas as well as other stuff from the new canon and the old EU. The story is currently planned to include four episodes starting with Lost Fleet, though there is a possibility I will write prequels for it based on the Jedi Exile. If there is a story that I am going to write to the finish it is this one and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it. It's going to be a rough ride for me figuring out my identity as a writer with countless screwups, especially in the early chapters of the story, but I appreciate the patience of anyone who sticks with me through it. I'd like to recognize some of my inspirations; such as Zipang and Final Countdown, both stories about warships from the modern era travelling in time into the Second World War, along with Star Wars writers Drew Karpyshyn, Chris Avellone, Rian Johnson, Lawrence Kasdan, Colin Trevorrow, J.J Abrams, Dave Filoni, and last but certainly not least, George Lucas who made it all possible. Update: I am thinking of a few ways I can mix the Mandalorian into this story, but it is somewhat difficult as I have no idea where the Mandalorian will go by the time of the Sequel era. For that reason, it is liable to deviate, as I had my own plans to use characters such as Thrawn for a while. I am also interested in exploring the Purge of Mandalore which may manifest itself in the form of a prequel story from the Exile's perspective (and perhaps how I will bring her into Old Glory going forwards from it) Rebels is another story I will integrate into this one, though I will try to nod to both canon and legend materials where appropriate. For the time being, my road map includes another 5-10 chapters for this episode depending on how I cut the scenes in them. There are two sequel episode storylines I am fairly sure about with another likely one to follow from them, and that prequel that I am still in the process of thinking about. Posted Storie Harry Potter and the Children of the Circle The death of the Dursley family in a car crash in June 1991 puts the Wizarding World in a race against time to secure the boy who lived from Death Eater attacks. In the ensuing chaos, the lives of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger collide in tragedy, leaving no one to count on but each other in their new home, the Edgar Bones Home for Magical Children and its strange residents. Status: Currently on hold until I understand what the hell I am doing with it. Old Glory: Lost Fleet of The Republic The Old Republic's fleet tasked with destroying the Sith controlled Star Forge succeeds in its mission but fails to escape the ancient space station's destruction. Admiral Dodonna orders her fleet attempt an uncalculated jump to hyperspace in a desperate attempt to save her command, sending it nearly four thousand years forwards into the future. Status: I am a bit stuck on the next chapter and with my papers for uni. I view of this, I have decided to take the time to edit the first half of the story so far to make it more consistent with my present style of writing. I had a preference for a more snappy multi-povs style when I started which I have since replaced for a more detailed mono/bi POV per chapter format and the difference in style has been bugging me for a while now that I know that my style of writing has definitely changed (in my view, for the better) I will also try and soften some of the inconsistencies, grammatical errors, and other problems reported by the readers that have accumulated over time into a more flowing narrative.I won't make any major changes to the plot so far, but I will expand various scenes, cut others, and possibly rewrite or even add new chapters to make the earlier part of the story more clear and engaging to the reader. I will also take the opportunity to flesh out the Old Republic cast fleet cast and possibly also the Resistance & First Order. I didn't pay nearly enough attention to them when I started out because I didn't think the story would go on past the first few chapters. I didn't have much of a plotline back then, but I do now (for this episode anyway) so I have a better idea of what I am doing. Uni is likely to keep me busy for the rest of July to early August, but I hope to finish those edits by then and release them along with the new chapter by mid-August at the latest. I won't put a deadline for it at this time as my schedule is too much in flux to commit to such a thing but I am definitely coming back. This is the first story I've managed to stay committed to over time and while my update schedule has been hectic, I have learned a lot about what to do, and more importantly, what not to do in writing it to the point I now think editing it from the beginning will be a worthwhile testament to how far it has come. Thank you for your patience. |
