![]() Author has written 18 stories for Yu-Gi-Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, and Fairy Tail. Hey people! I am an aspiring novelist, and I started reading fanfiction around April of 2017, so I'm still relatively new to the genre. I finally decided I should make an account so finding stories would be easier than random clicking. I came for the Yu-Gi-Oh! stories about Mana and Pharaoh Atem/Yami Yugi and stayed to write my own. So I guess I'm supposed to share somethings about myself. I guess the first thing would be is that I'm super awkward, and I have a tendency to poke fun at myself. Self-deprecating humor is a go-to for me, especially if I'm nervous, stressed, or just don't know what to say. Basically finding some way to laugh at a situation is one of my coping mechanisms. But I do genuinely try to be funny, so if it makes you laugh, then my comment has served its purpose. *gives awkward two-fingered salute* Other things about myself Age: 25 Gender: Female Name: Call me Mana for short Favorite Anime: Yu-Gi-Oh! (and all spin-offs of it, though I really need to finish Arc-V and start VRAINS), Digimon, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fairy Tail, Fullmetal Alchemist, Sword Art Online, Fruits Basket, Ouran Highschool Host Club, to name a few Favorite Non-Anime: Code Lyoko, RWBY, Avatar the Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, Power Rangers, all shows of the Arrowverse, Monk, The Big Bang Theory, Star Wars the Clone Wars, Winx Club, again to name a few Favorite Movies: Any that directly tie-in to any of the above listed shows and any superhero movies to save time Favorite Book Series: Song of the Lioness, The Immortals (Tamora Pierce), Protector of the Small, Tricksters series (Tamora Pierce), Circle of Magic, The Circle Opens, The Circle Reforged, The Heir series (Cinda Williams Chima), The Seven Realms Series, The Shattered Realms Series, Avalon: Web of Magic, Pendragon (DJ MacHale), The Lunar Chronicles Shipping: When it comes to shipping, I accept pretty much whatever is canon, unless it's really done wrong (in my opinion). But it takes a lot for me disregard canon, so the canon had to have done something pretty bad to make not like it. And if there is no canon, then I might start shipping (but I've only shipped for three shows so far, which will be listed below). When I ship, there are three criteria I look for: 1) character's orientation, 2) how well they interact with each other, and 3) how well they're built up (okay, depending on the situation, 2 & 3 could go together). So for number 1, if a character is confirmed straight/gay/bi/whatever, then I will ship that character according to their canon orientation. And if the canon doesn't state outright, then I try to look for some context. I'll use the example of Tristan Taylor from Yu-Gi-Oh!. In the manga and Season 0 anime, he has a crush on Miho Nosaka, a girl in their class. Then during Battle City he openly tries to win Serenity Wheeler's affections. By this logic, I would assume Tristan is straight. Therefore, I would only ship Tristan with females. Now Numbers 2 and 3 can be grouped together for explanation. If two characters get along really well--show a level of comfort with each other that's different from their other friendships--then I can get behind them. If two characters hate each other or one outright abuses the other, then there is no way you will get me behind it. As for the buildup, this applies more in terms of canon consistency for me. If multiple seasons are spent building one relationship, and then that's thrown away to build a different one out of the blue, then I'm not going to like it, especially if it contradicts already established character traits or orientations. That being said, here are my absolute favorite ships: Fairy Tail (These probably won't be as popular) RWBY My stance on reviews: I appreciate any and all reviews I get, especially those that will help me become a better writer. I also know some people are nervous about sharing their opinions for all to see; I'm one of those who also gets anxious when my words are out there for all to see, and at the same time, I want to be a novelist, and that means lots of people reading my work, and not everyone will like it. My head knows that's okay; my nerves go "Oh my gosh! They hate it!" But I digress. Even if you don't ecstatically love one of my stories or even just one chapter, go ahead and tell me. Message me if you don't want to leave it as a review. I just ask you be civil about it, and please offer me ways to improve it. Constructive criticism is best. I am also a bit of a Grammar Nazi. I'll never leave a review saying "Oh, you missed a comma in such and such a place," but I do try to make my stuff error-free in that regard. If it turns out I have a typo somewhere (I really hope I don't) go ahead and tell me that too. I won't be offended. I might mentally kick myself for missing it, but that's my fault. I will try to respond to all signed reviews. If it happens that I miss your review, odds are I got sidetracked and just missed it. I would also respond to guest reviews if possible, but I don't have any way to contact them. However, if you review my stories and use nothing but profanity or comment on things that have absolutely nothing to do with my writing, I will not hesitate to block and/or report you. I do not have a problem if you express dislike of a story. But there is a difference between negative/critical and an outright attack. If you attack me as a person or my interests in general, well... I'm not going to put up with that. I'm not going to let someone bully me into giving up what I like. I dealt with that enough in high school. I don't have to deal with that here. Also, if I do leave review, which I admit I don't do very often because of similar anxieties I said earlier, constructive criticism will be the main point of my reviews. If I come across a harsh, please know that is not my intention. As I struggle with putting myself out there, I genuinely want to help other people improve. I guess you could say, if I can't make it as a writer, I'd sure like to help with editing and publishing. Books and stories are my world; I live and breathe fiction, and I love to immerse myself in a good story. I do not want anyone to feel forced to take my suggestions because that is what I'm offering: suggestions. When I do review, I often think about and proofread it for a minimum of an hour, mainly because I am terrified of hurting an author's feelings. If I review your story, and you don't agree with what I said, please, be civil and talk to me about it. I've made great friends because of reviews and PMing, even if I've never met them in person. I may be socially awkward and might run out of things to say, but I'm always willing to try to talk things out. Dub vs Sub: I watch dubs of all anime. I have nothing against subs, but I am not a great multi-tasker. I can't read the words of what people are saying and pay attention to the action of the show; I just can't immerse myself in the show if I have read and watch at the same time. And I love my dubs. I have yet to find a dub I didn't like (see my favorite shows above; that gives a pretty good idea of what I've seen). This includes 4Kids dubs, mainly Yu-Gi-Oh! and Winx Club (yes, Winx Club isn't anime, but its first language is not English, so I'm counting it as a dub). So that means I will use the dub names for my stories if they've been changed between versions. If I read a story that uses the sub name, I'm pretty much at the point I register and refer to the characters with the dub names. If you prefer the subs; that's fine, but I do not appreciate dub bashing. Actually, that's putting it lightly. I hate dub-bashing. It is possible to express an opinion without being insulting. There is no reason to call dubs the variety of curse words I've seen for them. "They could have done this better" is one thing or "this wasn't good," but don't curse them out, and don't curse out people who like them. I respect your right to enjoy the sub if you respect my right to enjoy the dub. My Stories I had the idea to write out my own version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe, mostly following the canon but providing more links between the series. I started with my GX story Tales of Academia, adding Yugi and Tea's kids to the mix, and then I started A Dragon's Destiny to add Kisara to Kaiba's life. The Story of Atlantis is my explanation on what happened when the Leviathan first rose and the Legendary Knights were sealed away. Since these stories are really long, the time between updates may be long as I work on all of them plus any one-shot ideas I get. I promise to update as soon as I can, but I also want to make sure my chapters are clean and error free. I have also decided to name this rewritten universe the Talesverse, since it started with Tales of Academia. Any story that falls into this universe will have Talesverse written in the summary. Tales of Academia: Talesverse. My first fanfiction ever; it pulls together the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series and GX. Atem and Mana are the children of Yugi Muto and Tea Gardner, and they attend Duel Academy with Jaden Yuki and the rest of the GX cast. Atem embraces being the son of the King of Games; Mana enters Duel Academy with the last name Gardner. Atem and Mana join Jaden and the others on their adventures through school, surviving the Shadow Riders, Society of Light, and the Spirit World. Based on the main events of the GX anime, and it directly references the original series and the ancient Egyptians Atem and Mana are named after. A Dragon's Destiny: Talesverse. What if Seto and Kisara had another chance? Kisara is a new student at Domino, returning after years of being away. She sees her childhood friend Seto has become cold and distant while she quickly makes friends with his soon-to-be rivals Yugi Muto and Joey Wheeler. While facing the return of the Shadow Games, Kisara will have to face both her past with Seto and the truth about the Millennium Items. As canon as possible, but twisted. The Story of Atlantis: Talesverse. Who were Timaeus, Critias, and Hermos? How did they become the Legendary Knights of Atlantis? Before they were Knights, they were squires, and they had to learn to trust themselves and each other in order to grow into the legends they became. Details their first meeting all the way to the time they were sealed away in the Dominion of the Beasts Fate's Ribbon: Talesverse. Post-canon. It started at their five-year class reunion. Bakura is still conflicted with the shadows left by the Millennium Ring. Miho struggles to come out of her shell. Yet something draws them together? Can the two of them learn to open up and come together? The Curse of Anubis: Zombie AU; the expanded version of the one-shot Surviving with Duel Monsters. The heroes look to survive what feels like a curse on the world. Will they make it, or will they succumb to the hordes ravaging Domino City? Features (alphabetically) Ardent, Awe, Blue, Peach, Polar and Vaseshipping. One-Shots:Unless otherwise noted, any one-shots will stand on their own, and if it says one-shot, I will likely not have any continuing to the story. The most will be "This leads into this event" or "This is right after this event" where I'll just assume that people have watched/are familiar with what happened at that point in time of the story. Those falling into the Talesverse will have that mentioned in their summary. Cartouche: After the battle with Zorc, Mana remembers the day she gave the Prince a cartouche. What happens to it after the Pharaoh seals himself away? My take on why the Pharaoh is still able to wear the cartouche Tea gave him before he entered the Memory World. Reminiscence: After Jaden leaves Duel Academy, he travels the world with his card spirits, Pharaoh the cat, and the spirit of Professor Banner. But is it the same without his friends? While wandering around one town, he remembers the time he spent with his friends. Ultimately leads up to Jaden's involvement in Bonds Beyond Time, or at least what I think he was doing until he faced Paradox. Surviving with Duel Monsters: Zombie AU. When the Zombie Apocalypse breaks out, our heroes look to survive. Will they escape the ruin of Domino City, or with the hordes claim them as their own? I entered a fanfiction writing contest for fun and decided to share my work. This was what I came up with. Dance Lesson: Rebecca asks Tea to teach her ballet, but when they get going, they discuss the tri-color haired boy who started their friendship, and Tea is forced to confront the feelings she'd been avoiding. Post series, but before Dark Side of Dimensions. Discussions of Peach, Replay, and Revolutionshipping. Request. Ducks: Talesverse. While Atem studies for the entrance exams to Duel Academy, Mana grows bored and recruits their friend Joan in assembling an army. Inspired by a Youtube video. Takes place a couple of months before Atem enrolls in Duel Academy. Transforming Truesdales: Talesverse. Three-shot. Zane and Syrus loved Transformers when they were kids. How does their love of the show affect their characters and help them grow? Does discuss spoilers in the original Transformers series. Impractical Gift Wrap: Talesverse. Mana gets inspired by Impractical Jokers and plans a prank on her uncle, recruiting her friend Airi along the way. Will it go as she plans? Tree of Memories: Talesverse. Yugi and the gang gather to remember their departed friend. What memories will they bring up as they reminisce their time with him? Indomitable: Talesverse. Rex Goodwin attends the funerals of Mr. and Mrs. Fudo in an attempt to get closure after Zero Reverse. Dedicated to the memory of my wonderful grandma. Another Kind of Love: Talesverse. On Valentine's Day, Pegasus expects to feel nothing but heartache as he remembers the love he lost with Cecelia. But when he ends up in charge of his younger friends' children, he finds that love can come in many forms. All's Fair on April Fool's Day: Talesverse. It's Yami's first April Fool's Day, and he schemes with Kisara as he learns about the day. Meanwhile Mokuba plots against his brother. Contains hints of Blue and Peachshipping. Our Hearts Are Joined: Talesverse. It's Joan and Sterling's wedding day. As the get ready to exchange vows and begin their new life together, they reflect on how far they've come from the awkward students from Duel Academy. Technically could also be crossed over with GX, but only tagged as DM and 5D's. Request. Heart-to-Heart: Fairy Tail One-Shot. After returning from Tenrou Island, Lisanna shares her struggles with adjusting from Edolas with Lucy and later has a serious conversation with Natsu about what they've been through. Has no ships, but discusses NaLu and NaLi. Future Stories/Projects I may do/I have plans to start assuming I get my life together Legend of the Shadow Games: Talesverse. A detailed account of what happened in Egypt the first time around, starting from when the Items were formed to when the line of Tombkeepers was started. Timeline of events pretty much figured out. If written may affect Destiny. Duel Academy's Three Musketeers: Talesverse. Before Jaden and Mana made it to Duel Academy, Atem Muto made friends with Zane Truesdale and Atticus Rhodes. What trouble could these three possibly find? Basically an account of how they became friends and what they did. Adapted from roleplays with my friend LoveGlutton. Several scripts written but nothing in a story format yet. My OCs These are the characters that will be prominently featured in my stories, particularly Talesverse ones. Details on these characters will updated as their main stories are written. Joan Taylor: Daughter of Tristan and Serenity Taylor. Joan has shoulder-length brown hair normally pulled into a messy clip and gray eyes. Like her father, Joan is good with her hands and likes to tinker with different mechanics. She helps fix her cousin Max's duel disk when it breaks down, and she attends Duel Academy to learn how to design games and equipment. Joan is very shy; she only talks comfortably with those she is close to. Her usual outfits consist of her Slifer Red Uniform or a dark blue skirt, white shirt, and yellow sweater. NOTE: Joan is technically an existing character in the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise, but she is written as an OC, and her character will become more apparent down the road. Maxwell "Max" Wheeler: Son of Joey and Mai Wheeler. Max has curly blond hair and hazel eyes. He duels with a Landstar deck, and he likes to tease his friends with puns. Max looks out for his cousin Joan above all else, and he considers her, Atem, Mana, and Amane his best friends. Max has a tendency to fight with Airi, but they come around eventually. Max's usual outfits consist of dark blue pants, green shirt, and his Slifer Red blazer. Out of uniform, he wears jeans and a Monster World themed T-shirt. Airi Kaiba: Daughter of Seto and Kisara Kaiba. Airi has short white hair and sapphire eyes. She duels with a dragon deck, and she has her father's stubbornness. Airi sees her father as her hero, and this earned her the first copy of the Kaibaman card. Airi tends to fight with Max, but she doesn't outright hate him. Airi usually wears her Obelisk Blue Uniform or a white V-neck shirt, blue sleeveless vest, and black slacks. Lianne Devlin: Daughter of Duke and Vivian Devlin. Lianne has jade eyes and long black hair she wears in pigtails. She is impulsive and tends to be distracted by attractive guys (and inadvertently leaving behind those with her to chase said guys). Nonetheless, she cares about her friends and will karate-chop anyone who dares to hurt them. Lianne also carries a die used to disarm and disorient potential assailants. Her usual outfit consists of a red Chinese-style dress with black trim and white buttons. Arthur von Schroeder: Son of Leon and Rebecca von Schroeder. Arthur has dark magenta hair and bright green eyes and wears red-rimmed glasses. He is analytical and somewhat reserved, though also quite snarky when irritated. He speaks fluent German and has a tendency to show off his snark uses German phrases. That being said, he does care about those closest to him, even if they irritate him to no end. Arthur's usual outfit consists of dark blue slacks, a pastel blue shirt and tie, and a pastel pink blazer. Anthea: Muse-in-training in Atlantis. Anthea has long, wavy brown hair and bright blue eyes. She has a knack for magic, and she studies it with her best friend, Belinda. Belinda: Scholar working in Atlantis. Belinda has long, pinkish white hair and sapphire eyes. She has been studying magic and the Dominion of the Beasts since she started working in the palace, and she longs to explore the Dominon and the world beyond Atlantis. Belinda works with her best friend Anthea to achieve her dream. Circe: Smith working in Atlantis. Circe has thick, strawberry-blonde hair and violet eyes. She took over her father's smithy when he died, and she designs custom weapons and armor for clients in Atlantis. Circe has a close friendship with Hermos, and he often visits her shop when he's free. Mistress Alfreda: Head healer in the Atlantis palace. She is an older woman who tends to all the sick and injured in the palace. Mistress Alfreda is highly observant of her patients and has a knack of knowing what's on their mind. Hybrid OCs These are characters that are named after/alternate versions of existing characters. I don't really know how else to categorize these guys. Atem Muto: Son of Yugi and Tea Muto. Atem has his father's tri-colored hair and amethyst eyes, and he is named after the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle. He duels with a warrior deck centering around the Black Luster Soldier. He is best friends with Zane Truesdale and Atticus Rhodes, and he is an Obelisk Blue at Duel Academy. Atem has the power to see Duel Spirits, and he can summon up to three at a time provided he has their card. His usual outfit consists of light pants, a black shirt, and a shortened Obelisk Blue blazer. After graduation, he swaps his blazer for a dark blue-violet jacket. Mana Gardner-Muto: Daughter of Yugi and Tea Muto. Mana has spiky brown hair and blue-green eyes, and she is named after the Pharaoh's childhood friend. She duels with a spellcaster deck centered around the Dark Magicians. Mana has the power to see Duel Spirits and summon Dark Magician Girl. She can also do magic. Mana enrolls in Duel Academy under her mother's maiden name, and she opts to be in Slifer Red with her best friends Jaden Yuki and Syrus Truesdale. Mana also enjoys pranking her friends and family; her favorite targets are her brother Atem and Seto Kaiba. Her usual outfits consist of her Slifer Red uniform or shorts with either a Dark Magician Girl T-shirt or a Disney-themed shirt. Amane Ryou: Daughter of Bakura and Miho Ryou. Amane has brown eyes and lavender hair falls just past her shoulders, and she wears the top half tied in a pony tail tied with a pink ribbon. She likes to play Monster World, and while she collects Duel Monsters cards, she is not as interested in playing the actual game. Outside her school uniform, she wears white capris with a Monster World themed shirt. Order of next chapters to be posted: 1. The Curse of Anubis Chapter 7 2. A Dragon's Destiny Chapter 22 3. The Story of Atlantis Chapter 12 4. Tales of Academia Chapter 25 5. The Curse of Anubis Chapter 8 Note: this is a general plan for the next few chapters. I may make more progress with one story and get stuck on another, and I will modify this to reflect those changes. And One-Shots may pop up every once in a while too. Destiny may get a slightly more frequent update rate because what happens in there is a part of what happens in Tales, mainly in terms of what I will reference; they do go together even if they have different audiences to an extent; I do know people read both, and I'm grateful for that. The goal for Atlantis is to have that done before Destiny reaches the Atlantis arc because that will tie-in too, at least in terms of the flashbacks shown for that arc. Curse will probably have some flux as I get inspired for different chapters. Update 3-27-20, 1:51 a.m. CST: This evening/morning (because this has gone on for a few hours) I responded to a user harassing an author in the Fairy Tail fandom. I very politely tried to start a conversation and get them to stop posting profanity on this story. This user then proceeded to call me all kinds of inappropriate names and mocked the fact that I like the Fairy Tail characters Lisanna and Loke (and do not necessarily ship Natsu and Lucy together). The user did this in both PMs and as reviews on nearly all of my stories. I have since blocked them and sent an email to the site administrators. After the first user was blocked, several other users sent me similar messages and also spam reviewed my stories. They have also been blocked. That being said, I am unable to remove their crude reviews. If you guys know anything about getting reviews removed or know anything that could help, I would very much appreciate any advice you guys could give me. I am not abandoning any of my stories. I have too many of you guys looking forward to the next chapter. Until then, stay safe, be kind to your neighbor, and don't let the bullies win. |
