Katie Bell
Albus was reporting back to his office after having another meeting with the Order of the Phoenix. Once he was back inside his office, Dumbledore heard one of his silver instruments going off. When he investigated, the headmaster saw that the silver instrument monitoring the bond of blood charm was emitting red smoke (which indicated that somebody who wasn't a threat was at the Dursleys' house on Privet Drive). That was enough for Dumbledore to leave the office and outside the school wards to apparate to an isolated alley close to Privet Drive. Once there, Dumbledore transfigured his colourful robes into a muggle outfit and stepped out to head for the Dursleys' house. When he made it to the front yard, Dumbledore peeked in through the living room window and saw that the Dursleys were tied up and gagged. Albus walked inside to investigate and just saw the Dursleys trying to free themselves. Dumbledore heard some commotion coming from the stairs and spotted Harry walking down with his trunk and Katie Bell (who had shoulder-length brown hair in a low ponytail and blue eyes) holding Hedwig's empty cage. Then the headmaster blocked the doorway to prevent them (or at least Harry) from leaving.
"What may we do for you, professor?" Harry and Katie asked in unison, rather displeased to see the headmaster blocking their way.
"For you to stay here, Harry." Professor Dumbledore told him. Then he turned his attention to Katie and asserted, "And you need to leave this instant, otherwise you'll endanger Harry."
"I can't leave Harry here to be beat, starved, or used as a slave," said Katie firmly. "And this isn't your house, so you can't tell us what to do."
"Harry is safer here than anywhere else, Miss Bell," Dumbledore continued asserting. "Harry needs his family to protect him from those out to get him."
"That's a load of tripe, professor," Katie retorted. "These people aren't his family, never have been and never will be. They've made that clear for as long as Harry can remember."
"I'm sure you all are overreacting," said Dumbledore with false assurance. "Now let's be reasonable and get Harry to stay here."
"Not a chance, professor," said Katie, again in a firm voice. "You're not gonna run Harry's life on your terms. He told me everything you told him before the summer holidays started. If you have any sense at all, you'd leave Harry alone to let him live life to it's fullest. His destiny is whatever he makes it, not what you think he should be doing."
"And how did you know about all this?" asked Dumbledore.
"Katie and I have been teammates for several years, professor," Harry reminded him. "I had to tell someone because Ron and Hermione are more concerned with listening to you instead of trying to get me outta here for good. When Hermione tried 'reminding' me about me supposedly being safe here, it was enough for me to rip her and Ron a new one before severing ties with them for good."
"If you won't trust Mr. Weasley and Miss Granger," Dumbledore replied. "Then perhaps Miss Weasley will do wonders for you."
"Like that'll also work, professor." said Harry sarcastically. Then he told him in a displeased voice, "Ginny only see's me as the Boy-Who-Lived and I also don't want to be with a potential romantic partner who molds themselves after my desires and interests, that's a form of manipulation and I've caught onto Ginny's game a long time ago. She abandoned me as much as Ron and Hermione and those three are already outcasts."
"Yes," Katie snapped at Dumbledore. "Ronald, Granger and Ginevra have made themselves so unpopular that they used that to their advantage to keep pretty much everybody else away unless they were a part of your Greater Good plan. That prophecy is just a load a tripe and it shouldn't dictate Harry's life. Forcing him to fulfill it makes you extremely selfish, professor. If you want that prophecy fulfilled, you should do it yourself and quit putting emotional baggage on Harry's shoulders. And keeping us from leaving is considered false imprisonment and since my dad works for the ministry, you'll find yourself in hot water if you don't let us leave."
"You can leave, Miss Bell, I can't make you stay here," said Albus. "But Harry must stay here for his own safety, I'm his guardian."
"No you're not," snapped Harry. "Sirius was my guardian, but you lured him into that death trap because his being alive went against your Greater Good plan. Have Ronald fulfill the prophecy, since he wants fame and glory while I despise it and you're one of those idiots who keeps pushing me into the spotlight. Our discussion is over, professor."
"I'm afraid you must stay here until your birthday, Harry," Albus insisted. "Then I'll collect you and take you to the Burrow."
"You'll have to free the Dursleys' first, professor." said Harry, motioning with a thumb.
The headmaster walked into the living room, got down on his knees and began the task of freeing Harry's relatives. Harry and Katie used the opportunity to sneak away and get Harry's stuff over to her house. As Albus kept trying to untie the rope over Petunia, he realized that the knots were in a never-ending cycle, subjecting him to frustration. He was still trying to loosen the unlimited number of knots when he heard more footsteps coming in. Looking up, Albus saw that he was surrounded by aurors pointing their wands at him. After the Dursleys were freed from their binds, Amelia Bones ordered Dumbledore and the Dursleys to be placed in handcuffs (or magic-suppression handcuffs in Dumbledore's case) and taken into custody for their crimes against Harry.
"Now Albus and Dursleys," Amelia began telling the four, as they were pulled up onto their feet. "You don't have to say anything, as it may harm your defence in court. Anything you choose to say can be given in evidence."
Dumbledore and the Dursleys were taken to be put into ministry holding cells, while Amelia and a few more aurors stayed behind to investigate the house and search for more clues. For Harry, he no longer had to deal with being under Dumbledore's thumb against his will. For once, luck was finally on his side.
The End!
