Hey! Roxy Goth here. I've had this idea for a little while, but only recently got round to writing it. This story takes place before 'The Stalker' and follows how Bugs first realised he was in love.

I do not own Looney Tunes in any way, shape or form.

Year: 1952 [Mid-April]

Bugs - 13 nearly 14

Elmer - just turned 17.

"-An' den Sylvester said he wasn't gonna be a fool, turned round an' walked straight into a lamppost!"

Everyone laughed as Bugs finished his tale.

"A'ight!" The terrifying toon behind the bar growled. "Everybody git out, it's closing time!"

Bugs blinked and looked at his watch. "Jus' one more round, Doc?" He asked and gave the toon his most flattering smile.

Less than five seconds later Bugs was hurtling through the air, having been thrown out on his ears. He landed on the ground and sighed. "Jus my luck." As he gingerly got to his feet. "A barman with no sense o' humour!"

"Bugs!" The rabbit turned to see Elmer hurrying towards him. "Awe you awwright?"

"Just fine...eh...ya could walk me home, if ya want? Just to make sure nothing happens ta me?"

Elmer scoffed and walked off, nose in the air, having no time to waste on young, smart-alec toons. This was good because it meant he couldn't see the hearts in Bugs's eyes.

Yes, Bugs Bunny was in love with Elmer Fudd.

This came as somewhat of a surprise to him, it has to be said. For months now he had had this funny feeling in his tummy, like butterflies. At first he thought he was ill and got worried. So worried, in fact, he went to Chuck Jones and ran his symptoms by him. Chuck listened to him patiently, smiled, then leaned forward and said. "Bugs, from what you've told me, it sounds like you're in love with someone. Who is it?"

"Oi'm not sure."

Chuck raised his eyebrow and echoed the rabbits words.

Bugs confirmed was true and explained that when he got these feelings it tended to be in a crowd, so he was unsure who, individually he liked.

"This is a first for me." Jones admitted, leaning back in his seat. "But my advice would be this. The next time you have the feelings, make a note of who's around. Then talk to 'em individually or get 'em on there own somehow and see who it is that way. Jus' try and do it delicately, alright? You don't want to scare 'em off" And he chuckled softly.

So Bugs - mainly because he couldn't think of another way - decided to do what his father told him. The next time he got the feeling he was, once again, down Toontown Bar and Bugs made sure to make a note of who was there with him, namely - Porky, Daffy, Elmer, Foghorn Leghorn, Barnyawd Dawg and Marvin.

Bugs instantly discarded Daffy and Porky. He spent so much time 1-on-1 with them already he was sure he would have noticed. Plus he considered both his older brothers, so that would be a little weird to say the least. Marvin he discounted on the fact he was a complete weirdo, even by toon standards. That left Elmer, Foghorn and Barnyawd.

Deciding there was no time like the present, Bugs took each off them aside and had a conversation with them about there latest cartoons. Foghorn's brash voice caused his ears to ring. Bawnyawd was a bit better, but still to gruff for Bugs's liking. Then he spoke to Elmer and felt butterflies explode in his stomach instantly.

He wasn't even listening particularly to what Elmer was saying, just panicking silently. Out of all toons he fell in love with, it would be Elmer Fudd. Though it made sense. He'd got the feelings a few months ago and that was when Daffy had first started dragging Elmer along with him on his visits to the pub, having decided Fuddsey needed more socialising. Bugs sighed. Not only was the older toon infamous for keeping himself to himself [a trait that had only started after the war] but he'd not having any romantic liaisons with anyone. Oh, sure, he'd gone out with that older toon three years ago, but that was only for a few dates and had ended...not particularly greatly. Elmer was quiet, as well, preferring to just stay in the background. Considering he could adapt himself to any personality needed on the screen it was strange to Bugs that this was the personality he chose off-screen, but then again...the other toons were so noisy. A bit of quiet now and again...

"Awe you even wistening to me!?"

"Eh?" Bugs said, confirming that he hadn't been.

Elmer put his glass down [He was the only one there drinking a soft drink] and looked at Bugs in exasperation. "I don't get you, wabbit. First of all you say it's vitawwy impowtant you tawk to me about 'Wabbit Seasoning' and then zone out when I tawk!"

Bugs sighed and drew a hand across his forehead. "Ah, well. Ya know how it is-" He started.

"It's rude." Elmer snapped, enunciating the word clearly. "That's what it is." And with that he got up and plodded back to the bar, taking his seat next to Daffy, leading Bugs staring after him open-mouthed.

"C-c-close your m-m-mouth, y-you'll c-c-cat - allow flies in." Bugs blinked back to reality as Porky slid into Elmer's seat. "W-w-what was all that a-about then?"

"Not here." Bugs said, looking around like he was afraid of being overheard. "Back at your place."

Porky nodded.
