*Chapter 8: Rescue the Warden*

"Poor Dr. Young. Still, you know how Mr. J hates a squealer." Harley's voice said. Mia groaned and opened her eyes to see Harley hitting Warden Sharp with his own cane. "Talkin' about squealers."

"Somebody help me!" The old man cried out while he was held by one of the goons. Batman groaned as he sees what was happening. Harley whacks the warden with a cane again, and it broke.

"That old loony thinks he runs this place! Talk about crazy! Well, Bats, places to go! Get him boys!" Harley said. She was about to walk away until she turns to see Mia trying to get up. "Oh, Nurse Harlow. I'm surprised you're alive." She said with a smirk. "Don't hurt this one, boys. She is invited to the party tonight and Mr. J wouldn't want her to be broken!" Harley walk pass Mia with the warden as Joker's goons are ready to beat Batman who quickly got on his feet to fight them. Mia quickly moved out of the way as the Dark Knight fights the three goons. Mia picked up the fireplace poker and hit the back of the man's head.

"Get the nurse!" One goon shouted.

"Hell no! I'd rather fight the Bat than the nurse!" The other said. Batman smirked a bit and grabbed them both and knock their heads together. Mia dropped the fireplace poker after she knocked out a goon.

"Not bad." Batman said, looking at the mark on the back of the man's head. Mia nodded and turn back to Dr. Young's dead body.

"What now?" She asked. Batman spoke to Oracle about what had happened and asked if there is a way to get past the security gates. Mia went over to the glass case to see the Scarface puppet. What had happened to the Ventriloquist? She remembered hearing about him from Dr. Raymond before. "Best he's not around since most villains are loose." Mia said to herself.

"I've got a trail. You ready?" Batman asked. Mia turned to him.

"You...want me to come with you?"

"No. I'm taking you back to Cash. It's gonna be worse as we continue on." Batman told her.

"We're going after Sharp. And I think I can handle Harley. I never take her seriously anyhow." Mia said with her arms crossed. "Besides, you need to get past those gates. I know some of the codes around the island." Batman is silent. He had to admit that she's right. He didn't like her to be with him in this journey after she and Jim were taken back. But, Mia is no match for the certain villains. Harley Quinn won't be a problem for her.

Going inside the Penitentiary isn't so bad, but it is one place Mia did not want to enter. It's a building filled with maniacs with straightjackets. It scares her. But, she had to keep going and stay close to her dark hero. She wants this nightmare to be over. She wanted to go home and sleep and be with her son. Mia bumped into Batman.

"What's wrong?" He wondered. He noticed her expression. She looks pale. "I think you need some rest. I can take it from here. Go back to Cash."

"I think I need to wash up." Mia said as she noticed the restrooms. "It's been a long night. Give me a minute." She walked to the women's restroom. She turned on the sink to splash cool water on her face. Batman isn't wrong. Her face is pale. "Pull it together." She told herself. "If Batman could handle it, so can I."
After the two walk through another door, ahead of them was a special cell with Poison Ivy in the Green Mile. She got up and place her hand on the glass, looking at the Dark Knight with plead in her eyes.

"Stop! Stop! Batman, please! You've got to help my babies." She says. Batman glared at her from the other side of the glass as Mia watched silently.

"I'm really not interested in a bunch of flowers, Ivy." He said.

"They're in pain! Crying for help!" Ivy said.

"Just stay where you are! Last thing I need you is running free!" Batman told her.

"I don't want to deal with plants again." Mia said, walking around the cell. Ivy backed away from the cell.

"Poor children. I'll save you." She said, sitting down. "I won't let them hurt you." Mia rolled her eyes as she approached the door as Batman follows.

They entered the Security Control Room and hear Sharp's cries. He's inside the control room. Batman rushes up to get him as Mia is below the stairs as she hears someone in the cell behind her. There is Aaron Cash. Mia was confused at first of how he got in there.

"Get me out of here! It's me, Cash!" He said. But Mia then noticed a sign next to the cell. DANGER: DO NOT APPROACH. INMATE MAY BE IMPERSONATING OTHER PERSONNEL. Almost got fooled. Mia turned away from the imposter.

'Nice try, Clayface.' She thought. Alarms were heard outside the room. She wouldn't want to guess of what was happening. Joker released the maniacs. Batman came down not long after and got the codes to get to other places. Clayface was turned into Quincy Sharp behind Mia.

"Mia, stay close to me no matter what. The patients are loose and Ivy was set free." Batman told her.

"Well shit." Mia sighed. "Ivy might be heading to the gardens."

"I'm going there after I deal with Quinn."

"Anything I can do?"

"Don't fall behind." As the duo left, Clayface turns into Jim Gordan, laughing evilly.

Batman threw the maniac aside and knock him out cold. Mia noticed Two-Face's cell filled with Vote for Dent posters. Another cell has drawings. She squinted her eyes at the drawings. Who's cell is this?

"Mia." Batman called. Mia blinked and turn back. "We have to move." Mia turned back to the cell, but she followed him out of the Green Mile. It could've been anyone's cell. "Harley can't be far."

"Right behind you."
They walk in the Main Cell Block where the maniacs should be, but they all escaped. It's quiet in here. But there is Harley appearing in front of them, bowing to them. Mia glared at her.

"You know, Bats. I always thought there was a spark between us!" She said, twirling one of her pigtails. She giggled and jump up and hit the button. One of the guards is getting electrocuted. "I know, I know. You're shocked!" Harley called out. "Come and get me Bats. I double dare ya!" The floors below their feet is lighting up. Batman wrapped his arm around Mia's waist, pull her close to him and quickly grapple up to where Harley is. "And Nurse Harlow is here to play!" Harley says as she is swinging around on the light. The goons are trying to get the guns out. Mia's eyes widen in fear.

"Batman, please tell me you got a plan. They're getting guns." She said, trying not to panic.

"Just trust me." Batman whispered.

"Get the Bat, boys!" Harley shouted. "But don't kill the nurse!" The goons started to charge at the duo.
