*Epilogue*
"So, you survived the nuthouse, huh Mia?" A male voice on the line chuckle. Mia rolled her eyes at her adoptive brother's tone. She had been getting calls from her family since a week after the asylum event. They were worried sick. Especially her father, Phil. He feared Mia would end up worse. But Mia is a strong woman and told her family not to worry. "Maybe I should move into Gotham and become a cop there. Way more exciting than this boring city."
"Emmet, you really don't want to." Mia said, walking to her bedroom. "Gotham can be really dangerous at night."
"Still don't get why you and the kid moved there in the first place, but hey, least you got a good job there. Making good money and all that crap. I really miss ya, Mia." Emmet said. Mia couldn't help but to smile a bit. She did miss her annoying brother who picks on her after his parents adopted her, but he really does care about her. Emmet is a cop, and a cocky one. He and Dick could be best friends if they ever meet. Mia wouldn't want her brother to be involved. It would make him and the family targets. Besides, Emmet is bad at keeping secrets. No way he will know about Bruce's secret.
"We will plan on visiting, okay?" Mia said. "I gotta go. Axel and I are gonna watch a movie together. I'm relaxing at home for a week." After she hung up, she walked in the living room and see her son putting on a movie. "Sorry to keep you waiting, kiddo. Your uncle was worried."
"I don't blame him. I didn't sleep that night you were there." Axel said. Mia nodded, remembering Batman dropped her off and her son was awake all night. They both slept in. The two sat on the couch and the movie began. Mia made a look as the movie began. Axel chose Killer Klowns from Outer Space. But she didn't say anything and let her son have the fun to watch it. She didn't want to see clowns after what Joker had become.
Kate walked up to Wayne Manor and knocked on the door a few times. Alfred answered and made a half surprised look on his face. He didn't expect to see her. Kate has returned to Gotham to speak with Bruce. She felt bad about their bitter conversation back at the party. Alfred allowed Kate inside the manor and then Bruce came down to see his cousin. He is in a suit.
"Kate?"
"Bruce. Can we talk?" Kate asked. Bruce didn't say anything, but nodded. They walk in the dining room. Bruce stared out the window as the warm sun hits him. It's been two months since the asylum event. When Gotham heard the news, Kate was impressed that Mia made it through alive. Mia is a tough one. "Listen, about the party, about what I said about-"
"Don't worry about it." Bruce said. Kate shoves her hands in her jacket pockets.
"You forgive me?"
"I will. If...you come to my wedding. That is, if Mia accepts my proposal." Bruce turned around and took a black box out of his pocket. Kate walked over and pick up the box and open it. A beautiful diamond ring. Must've cost him a fortune. Kate smiled at him and gave back the box. "I brought Axel with me and told him the news. He was happy. I even let him pick the ring."
"Kid's got good taste." Kate said. "So...you would still be Batman by then?"
"Gotham needs Batman. Mia wouldn't let me give up my cowl." Bruce said. "She loves me and Batman the same. That's what matters. I love her for it. Yet, I will retire if I must."
"Well, you will always have us. Me, Dick, Tim, Barbara. I just want you to be happy." Kate said, placing her hand on Bruce's shoulder. "Next time, don't let Mia get involved. She will be the target." Bruce couldn't agree more. After the asylum, Mia will remain in Gotham and nowhere else. Axel's voice is heard. Kate and Bruce turned to see him coming in. He halts when he noticed Kate.
"Oh, Kate. What're you doing here?" He asked with a smile. Kate gave him a high five.
"Visiting, kiddo." She said. "Hey, maybe someday you can see me as Batwoman. Wanna be my Robin?" She winked. Bruce gave her a look.
"No." He said. Kate and Axel laughed at him for not taking the joke. "I'll take you home, Axel. I am going to meet your mother at the hospital. We're going out for dinner." The boy nodded and put on his backpack. "And thanks for coming with me to pick a ring."
"When are you gonna ask her?" Axel asked, walking beside him as Kate watched them. Bruce told him when the time is right. Kate can see the true bond between the two. Maybe she could call Mia sometime and invite her to dinner someday.
"Kate? Would you like to join us?" Bruce asked Kate. The woman blinked at him. "Mia wouldn't mind and love to get to know you more." Kate gave her cousin a small smile. Even better. She followed Bruce and Axel out the door as Alfred bid them goodbye.
A nine in a half year old boy was dueling with his mother in a swordfight. The boy has black spikey hair, and green eyes. He has been in training to become the assassin. His mother moved around him and gave him a hard kick in the back, knocking him down. The boy grunted. He slammed his fist on the ground.
"Try again, son." His mother said. "You aren't concentrating."
"Talia." A voice spoke. A woman and a boy turned to see the elderly man coming out of the shadows. "We have some...news." He said. He is no other than Ra's al Ghul. The Head of the Demon himself is over five hundred years old. He and the League of Assassins hid in Wonder City in the currently built Arkham City.
"What is it, father?" Talia asked. Ra's looked at his daughter and grandson.
"Bruce Wayne plans to marry Mia Harlow. The nurse of Elliot Memorial." Ra's said. Talia is silent. Her beloved has found someone. Her heart felt broken, but why would she care? This is Bruce Wayne. He dates women, and he has found someone he truly loves and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. "A shame that the detective couldn't take my place. Talia, my daughter, you...will take my place. Become leader of the League of Assassins." Ra's said. He faces his grandson. "Damian, my grandson, you will become the most worthy assassin. You...will be the Head of the Demon when the time comes." The boy stares at his grandfather. He gave him a nod.
"I will train harder, grandfather." He said, bowing to him. Talia looked at her son. Maybe he shouldn't know who his father is. Not now. He had been asking her who his father is, but she promised to tell him if he defeats her in swordfights or martial arts. Damian isn't ready to know about his father. Talia clenched on her sword.
'Beloved...' She thought. 'What does that nurse have that I do not have? You made a mistake, Bruce. Mia will not last. Just like everyone else.'
