'If at first you don't succeed, who cares!' - Jessie of Team Rocket Pronouns: she/her (Let's de-stigmatise pronouns in bios!) Not much to say really. I exist. I like writing. Probably a side-effect of hyperlexia. It's basically precocious reading, if you're wondering, and I was reading before age 2 according to my mother, which has the, uh... unfortunate drawback of limiting social development for whatever reason. I'm also beginning to think that I have hypergraphia, which is the intense urge to write or draw. It would certainly explain a lot. Due to having You might notice that some characters in my newer fanfictions tend to have (I have crossed out 'Aspergers' from my profile to demonstrate that I specifically have come to prefer being referred to as simply 'autistic'. Aspergers is slowly becoming an obsolete term anyway. Likewise, I would prefer being referred to as 'an autistic person' rather than 'a person with autism.) WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY WRITING Possibly as a side-effect of my hyperlexia (also known as precocious reading, ie reading at age 2, which is not as fun as it sounds), I tend to write a lot. So, my writing often has a lot of detail, mostly because I like going in-depth. As you can tell by my profile, I'm sure. Even my less detailed stories nowadays still have a lot going on in any given scene. I do have the slight problem that often times I will keep going and going and just... forget about the small details in the scene because I'm just THAT sunk into it. Fortunately, this is often fixed in proof-reading. Speaking of which, you can also expect my stories to have really good grammar and few typos. This is due to my perfectionist nature. Which, by the way, can be a detriment sometimes. Nothing like refusing to publish something until it reaches an unrealistic standard of beauty! While I deal with a variety of tones, my stories tend to go down a darker route than the original work. When I say 'darker', I mean just a little without things getting a little too - what's the word? - edgy. This is usually because I like to take aspects in the original work that were played for laughs or at least weren't played too seriously and show the 'realistic' consequences of it. A great example is in Luigi's Mansion: Tomb Service, where the backstories for the Boss Ghosts deal with topics such as witch-hunting (the Twisted Sisters), children from old times dying in infancy (Amadeus Wolfgeist), homophobia (Johnny Deepend), and even anxiety-induced suicide (Serpci), among others. Then you have I'm Not Okay, which takes the slapstick-laden sketches Gil suffers through in Bubble Guppies, and shows him getting hospitalised and angry with his friends for it. And Through the Years will end up deconstructing a lot of the comedic moments in The Simpsons, such as Abe and Agnes's horrible treatment of their kids and the fact that Patty is a lesbian growing up in a very homophobic time. Something I've noticed with my writing is how much it's changed over the years. I'm not talking about its quality, though yes that has increased majorly. I mean, my early stories still make me cringe reading them, which is a good thing because that means I've improved. I'm talking more about its tone and subject matter. My earlier stories were pretty silly and full of (poorly written) awkward jokes. Nowadays, I tend to focus on some rather adult and heavy topics. Not to mention that my stories have more emphasis on romance, and specifically romance that tries to go past the superficial. Honestly, it feels like my early works were written by a completely different person. In fact, that's my new theory and you can't tell me otherwise. I really should've started a new account, but whatever... Most of my modern stories have a few other things in common. As of late, I've come to enjoy writing my stories with a less-than-completely-serious narrator, who even in the rather serious stories can be snarky sometimes. This makes writing more fun and by extension easier to write. I also typically focus strictly on my favourites, though I do try to give others the spotlight. And of course the universal topic of autism, which is such a big thing in my stories that I think it's best that I save it for its own category. MY WORKS AND AUTISM Speaking of which, here is that category! I've made it clear up to this point that I am autistic, which affects almost my entire life. I personally see it as a double-edged sword - I gotta deal with things like sensory overload and an inability to deal with change/stressful situations, in exchange for having fantastic visualisation, special interests, and the ability to see the world for what it really is without having to worry about those non-existent layers that the neurotypicals see for some reason. However, finding good representation is hard. When the (rightfully) divisive Atypical is one of the better representations for me - past Season One because that first season SUCKS - that is not a good thing. I find bad representation to be far worse than no representation at all. In the latter, no one knows what autism is and can be taught, but in the former, people think they know when they don't. So, I'm trying to get good representation out there myself. Since there's little-to-no good representation of explicitly-autistic characters, the community tends to headcanon various characters as autistic instead. I am no less guilty of doing this, and as silly as it may sound this is actually a rather healthy thing do it, for it gives me characters to turn to. It is no coincidence that most - not all, but most - of my favourite characters could easily be seen as autistic, and in fact is probably the reason they become my favourites to begin with. Unsurprisingly, I tend to bring this up whenever I write about these characters. Luigi's Mansion: Tomb Service literally contains a flashback scene that ends with the sentence 'Luigi, you have autism'. Even if I don't bring it up, it is how I end up writing them, such as with Lisa Loud or SpongeBob. Right now, this list (liable to change) includes: Luigi from Super Mario, Lisa and Leni Loud from The Loud House, Wind Whistler and Maud Pie from My Little Pony, Neeku Vozo from Star Wars: Resistance, SpongeBob from SpongeBob SquarePants (what else?), Deema and Nonny from Bubble Guppies, Lemongrab from Adventure Time, Ray and Egon from Ghostbusters, and Ash and James from Pokémon. Mind you, these are just the characters that I am certain about. There's more characters who I'm suspecting might be autistic, but don't show quite enough signs for me to be certain. These include Homer Simpson from The Simpsons and both Scarecrow and Tin Man from Wizard of Oz. These guys definitely display some signs though, so don't be surprised if I write them as autistic in any given story. Also every cat on Earth is autistic. Especially mine. My cats are always really bloody weird. A NOTE FOR ANYONE LOOKING THROUGH MY STORIES I keep many of my older stories for archival purposes, but I would NOT recommend reading them unless it's some sort of comparison thing. You'll notice that between Oh, Brother! and A Starry Wish is a gap of a whopping THREE YEARS, as A Starry Wish kickstarted what was more-or-less my first revamp. My second (and current) revamp started roughly at The Cure is Worse Than the 7Ds, and really hit its stride at Luigi's Mansion: Tomb Service. In fact, I consider LM: TS as a major turning point for my fanfiction account in general. Since then, I have been writing and publishing quite a bit more, and I am proud of pretty much everything I have made since. Anything written prior to A Starry Wish should be ignored, unless you are truly curious. In fact, I'm surprised I didn't just create a new account. In short, everything published in 2014 and before is awful but stays on the website, while everything from 2017 beyond is quite a bit better. 2019 onward, however, is where you really wanna be. I know everyone says that 2020 is/was an awful year, but it was very good for my writing. At the bottom of this profile, I list some of the stories you actually should read. And yes, I know a few of them are Bubble Guppies fanfics. Your point being? I am actually quite happy that I can read my older works and cringe, for that means that I have grown as a writer. Reminder, my first published work was all the way back in early 2012, when I was only eleven years old. Meaning I am now twenty and have been writing for almost ten years now, which is an interesting thought to say the least. For comparison's sake, in the first edition of All Ranks Reversed, the first 3,000 words get you ALL the way until they end up in Idaho, which is basically the entire first act, while it takes about 9,000 words to get through the first 10-15 minutes of Luigi's Mansion 3. Of course, length is not an inherent sign of quality - short stories can be fantastic while long stories can be awful - but it definitely shows how far I've come. RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME THAT YOU PROBABLY DON’T CARE ABOUT Real First Name: Natalie (and that’s all you’re getting) Favourite Pairings (not that I’m much of a shipper): Luigi/Daisy, Jessie/James, Plankton/Karen, Lucy/Rocky, R2-D2/C-3PO (non-serious), Edna/Seymour, Scarecrow/Tin Man (kinda serious, kinda not) Favourite TV Shows: SpongeBob (both old and new), Bubble Guppies (yes, really), Pokémon, BoJack Horseman, Adventure Time, Rick and Morty, Gravity Falls, House of Mouse, The 7D, The Loud House, The Real Ghostbusters, Clone Wars (2008), Rebels is overhated, The Simpsons (classic seasons only), Futurama, Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz (2017) Favourite Movies: Pretty much anything by Pixar (like Toy Story, Up, Inside Out, Wall-E), plenty of Disney stuff (Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Notre Dame, etc), Star Wars (wait, that’s Disney now too), The Wizard of Oz (1939, of course) Favourite Games: Mario, Minecraft, Pokémon, Luigi’s Mansion, de Blob, Pikmin (is my baby), Terraria, LEGO Star Wars is shockingly fun Favourite Characters in Respective Media: Karen, SpongeBob, Squidward (SBSP), Deema, Nonny (BG), Team Rocket/Clemont (PKMN anime), BMO (AT), Dipper (GF), Lisa, Lucy (LH), Luigi, Daisy (Super Mario), Egon (GB), C-3PO, R2-D2, Neeku Vozo (SW), Bart, Lisa, Selma of all characters (Simpsons), Scarecrow and Tin Man (Land of Oz franchise) Favourite Pokémon, In No Real Order: Leafeon (number one favourite), Absol, Aegislash, Gigalith (first ever shiny!), Meowth, Umbreon, Arbok, Falinks, Boltund, Milotic, Crobat, Heracross, Luxray, Garchomp, Galvantula, Vanilluxe, Incineroar, Lycanroc, Weezing, Mimikyu Most of My 'Special Interests': SpongeBob, Bubble Guppies, Pokémon, Star Wars, Disney, Wizard of Oz I'm counting 'special interests' in this case as just the things that ended up becoming 'lifelong' passions at one point. For instance, I like Gravity Falls and Adventure Time but they never dominated my life, while Bubble Guppies and Wizard of Oz did. I have no idea what can prompt something to take over my life, but I am slowly coming to a possible answer. I've gone through and deleted some stories I was not happy with. I can keep embarrassing YouTube videos up, but not those fanfics, regardless of what others said. Not all my old stuff has been deleted - just the stuff I actually regret writing. I have both a YouTube channel and a Deviantart account with the same name Superfloxes. Normally I’d post possible fanfiction projects, but frankly considering my erratic schedule and cyclic obsessions, it’s impossible for me to tell what’ll be published next. With the rare exception (namely Luigi's Mansion: Tomb Service), expect most of my recent fanfiction projects to be relatively short projects. I say relatively short as my shortest production at the time of writing this is nearly Oh, and the best season of SpongeBob is Season Eleven. Fight me (please don't).
