M-Note: Hope makes a life changing decision.
Kol finds Hope by a small fire. Looking troubled.
Like the weight of the world. All of its problems, worries rested on her shoulders.
He knows that look.
Once gave his heart to someone who possibly coined the expression he'd caught it enough.
He honestly thought she would have been used to it by now. The vampire makes his move.
Mildly wondering if he should take pity on her.
Sitting beside her he throws some twigs onto the flames. Watching them grow as his niece casts a small spell.
She looks up at him and he is reminded of her stunning mother. Not that he had really known her. Cared. Or spoken to her much.
"I was around your age when I first died. Transitioned. Give or take some months."
"The experience it was exhilarating. Terrifying. Disgusting. Far too much to bear. Would have been without a stable support system."
"People who understood me. Knew me to my core. Loved me."
Kol offers Hope a little smile. Thinking he should try again. Not only to plead his case but also to relate to her.
It is a perfectly good opportunity.
She is his blood yet he knows virtually little about her. Other than that she is stuck in Virginia, Mystic Falls. That she has a boyfriend.
A Phoenix. Maybe he should have brought him along. Then again he wasn't going to put anyone outside of his plans in danger.
Bound to a boarding school until she becomes of age. Useful to Niklaus. The family.
Or a liability.
Whatever the case. This ritual insures that she will fulfill her destiny.
Become immortal, invulnerable. Like them.
He has prepared for it all. Either of her choices. That means he will clearly spell it out for her.
No tricks or lies, cons. Threats.
"Today you will be reborn. You will become something new."
"Leave a beautiful, bloodthirsty monster or a coward who is only prolonging the inevitable."
"Blood of my blood you are running out of time. Do not willingly blind yourself to the truth just because you can't stomach the thought."
The fire grows as the flames begin changing colors in the shifts of heat.
.
Kol knows what he has done. That he has pushed with all his might and yet there is a possibility that it can backfire.
They should not do the ritual tonight.
To be on the safe side only the basic steps have been laid out.
Maybe one more night will not be the end of him. He has not had a proper rest in days.
He brought soil from the Old World and had asked Freya to bring some from Mystic Falls.
Tonight he thinks he should sleep under both. Reacquaint himself with the Earth before the sunlight hits him.
"You really did a number back there." Freya tosses him a blood bag from an ice-chest.
Interrupting his actions. His train of thought all but leaving him. He bites into it.
Drinking it leisurely. Unsure if he should respond outright.
"What I scared a little girl by treating her like an adult? She has to grow up quicker. We did."
He finished his drink. "Niklaus and Elijah should arrive tonight. Marcellus too for moral support."
"She is his only sister and I am not completely indifferent to such a powerful bond."
Kol follows up with the word. "I have never gone out of my way to see her. Right now she serves a purpose. And I offer a mutual gain."
Well aware that Hope could hear him if she wanted. Freya looking over her shoulder at the now furiously drawing teen.
"I do not want her to hate or resent up down the road. For changing her life. Forcing it upon her too early and calling it her choice."
She catches her gaze. Stilling her hand. Rebekah beside her. Just watching. They know she is clearly listening in. As conflicted.
"Are you packed up?" Elijah looks at Marcel then at Niklaus. They are outside by his car.
Opening the trunk. Throwing their luggage in.
Answering his question. His brother asking one of his own. Looking like he is second-guessing asking it out loud. Vulnerable. Going for it.
"What do you think Haley would have wanted? Given this specific situation. I know I never did enough for you Marcellus."
"Yet I need you. Both of you because for this I cannot move alone. I know the risks. That she is and will not be in any immediate danger."
There is a beat before he continues.
"Do I need to intervene or just sit back and help pick up the pieces when my little girl needs me."
Marcel and Elijah exchange a look. His son answering. "Let her choose. Stand out of her way if she asks it of you. Try not to lose sight of our little Hope."
Klaus looks at him then at his brother. Cracking a radiant smile, placing a hand on his shoulder.
A genuine emotion to him as he says.
"I love you Marcellus." Hearing from the other original that he does too and the younger hybrid is calling them Old world saps.
Letting them know that they can have a heart to heart or an all out parade when his unstable sister is not a real danger to herself. Her heart.
"After delicate consideration and ugly crying, some soul searching."
"A stupid long pros & cons list in my head and a neatly trimmed, expertly manipulative talk with Uncle Kol I have come to a decision."
"I am going to do it. I am going to become the ultimate predator. I am ready to die. To become the being this supernatural world so despises."
"Will soon come to fear because they have seen seen nothing yet." Hope had found her relatives huddled by a group of witches.
Having come looking for them again after a nice, lengthy dip in the nearby river.
The original vampires and their older sister seemed to exhale at the same time.
As if glad to know, see that she has come to her senses without any further coercing.
Because this will only serve to benefit her the most in the long run.
She saw that from the very beginning.
All she needed was time to fully come to terms with it herself.
The Hallow is incompatible with her. She will die if she becomes it's permanent host. Be lost to its will. Forced into doing it's bidding.
That does not mean that she has not already begun experimenting with her Grandmother Esther's spell books.
Or one she had found in her Uncle's possessions that had once belonged to Dalia.
She has begun to feel the monster's magic imbue itself into her.
Begging for a sweet release.
Death and destruction.
Intricate, meaningful sacrifices.
Her eyes glow gold as the sky begins to cloud over. The feel of ancient magic do palpable in the air that it feels suffocating.
"Tonight I become what you want. The tribute. The apex. The tribrid."
The siblings look at her. Obviously overjoyed yet Freya and Kol take her words with a grain of salt. Something does not sit right with them.
Maybe it is the way she said it. The undertones.
"On the condition that I don't only bring back Uncle Finn. Then again."
Ah, there it is. She is absolutely their kin. Ruthless girl. A treasure. Coveted. Cursed.
"None of you are in a position to deny me anything. Are you ready to hear my terms?"
Rebekah speaks for her siblings as she asks her to speak her mind. Lay out her demands.
"I am going to bring my Mom back. I have to try. This is the perfect opportunity." They offered her an open platform.
It looks like they aren't too interested in the idea. Maybe without her full co-operation they just do not house enough power.
She can level the field. Match absolutely everything they can throw at her.
Perhaps this is how she finally wins them over.
"Dad would have taken it, asked for the same deal. Uncle Elijah will back me."
Hope wants to say that she is completely confident in her statements. Wonders if they will buy it.
Because there are some doubts. Lingering.
Not all of the fault, blame lay with the ancient- dormant monster that is currently leeching from inside of her.
"You need to understand that I need her with me. I miss her."
Freya holds a cold look. Melting into something pitying in her eyes when she meets her gaze.
"Sweetheart the amount of magic it takes to wake and bring one person back, alone is insane with what's happened to the Other Side."
Hope doesn't miss a beat as she counters.
Her voice defiant. Rising in anger.
A sincere desperation. One final plea.
"Make her priority number one then. I promise I will make it a quick catch."
"She will come to me. You all might not be enough to stop me if I lose control. She can."
