Chapter 1: Significance
"Where the hell is 2B!?" 9S demanded the location of his long-time partner, and friend, to his assigned pod. The tremors make him grow nervous, and the logic virus spreads, killing him figuratively. With no location of 2B or the assurance of her safety, he is restless and worried.
The pod carries out the order, initiating a quick scan of the area in search of 2B's black box signal. "Scanning. Black box signal detected-" Not a second later, 9S speaks to the pod.
"Put it on the map!" He's running, as fast as he can. Now he knows where to go, the map shows 2B's location and he's going to make sure she is safe. Just a little way down more. He jumps from the rubble of old Human infrastructure, hanging onto his pod as it gracefully glides him down to the ground. Faster, he wants to be faster. Every second that he uses up could mean 2B's life, and that's the only thing that matters right now.
Landing on both feet, he immediately breaks into an all-out sprint. Desperate, and needing closure, he wants to act immediately and ensure that 2B is safe. "Alert: Large-scale ground tremors detected." Screw the tremors! What 9S cares about right now is 2B, just a little more. Sprinting past wildlife, scaring them off as the Android whizz past them at superhuman speeds. "Underground soil structure is no longer stable."
2B, 2B, he wants to know how 2B is. "Cause is likely a high-magnitude earthquake." That makes it worse, these tremors… can cause sinkholes and the earthquake can make ravines in the ground. 2B is in grave danger and 9S knows it, but he can only run so fast, and he's giving it all that he's got to reach the waypoint marked on his map. "Proposal: Evacuate immediately."
This pod… doesn't it understand what 9S wants!? How dire the situation is to 9S and 2B's health!? So annoying, and 9S shouts to the absurd proposal given by the pod. "I'm not going anywhere! Agh!" Just then, one of the disturbed wildlife, a boar, angrily rammed 9S's side. Nearly putting him off-balance but he managed to readjust just in time. 'I don't have time for this! Leave!' 9S shouts in his mind, and eventually outrunning the boar and comes upon a suspension rope wooden bridge.
2B is just across this bridge, across this chasm. And then everything will be fine! They'll be together, they can fight against YorHa and the machines, together! Taking his first hurried steps onto the bridge, it creaking from 9S's weight but is holding on reliably. "2B… 2B" His mind is racing, the prospect of being unable to see 2B is haunting him to his core. 'Just a little more- just hold on 2B!' 9S begged in his mind, his full-on sprint causing him to be out of breath.
9S sees her! He sees 2B! Sat at the edge on the other side of the cavern, 9S is slightly relieved to see her right where the waypoint is. "2B! Are you-" Through bated breaths, and an exhausted body, 9S witnesses the impossible. 2B is there, almost limp, blood on her skin and staining her battle dress, and standing over 2B with 2B's sword impaled through, is A2.
In 2B's final moments, she manages to turn her head around. Hearing the desperate calls from 9S earlier, and with all of her strength, she smiles. She's happy to see him safe and sound and now to say her goodbyes. "Oh…. Nines…" 2B lost energy, her core destroyed, and her mind broken. Limply, she falls back, sliding off her blade A2 is holding. With a gory squelch, 2B slides off the blade and falls dead on the rocks at the edge of the fall.
A2 stands over the lifeless body of 2B, the blade she is holding drenched in the blood of the fallen Android. She does not convey any significant emotions, just a thousand-yard-long stare at the dead Android. No smile, no frown, just half-closed eyes with closed lips. Her long hair flying in the heavy wind, the whistling sound generated by the ravine is the bell that signals the death of one of 9S's most beloved.
And that's when 9S breaks. His search for 2B to keep her safe during these uncertain times, all of the accumulated memories with the one who is officially his partner, but he's come around to call her friend. And where she had also considered him a friend, 9S felt something more brewing on the horizon. Was it love? The emotion that Androids does not feel? Yet how was that possible?.
All of the fighting, all of the memories, all of the nights spent together around the same campfire. All of the times they treated each other's wounds, all of the times where 9S joked about but 2B slaps away and disciplined him. The person he spent all of these times together, is now gone, and so too are those moments. He won't be able to look back at them, only to be reminded by the empty void that is the most important content of those memories, 2B.
That was it. He witnessed the impossible, and his heart was crushed. Unending agony begins to spill out, denial, confusion, and bargaining happening all at the same time. "Oh no… 2B… no…" 9S clutches at his head, not wanting to believe the reality he is in, not wanting to believe the death of 2B. He falls to his knees as his heart is ready to beat out of his chest, his head turning, falling in a spiral of pain and sorrow. 9S trembles, his hands shaking out of his control as he hunches forward, calling out to the now-dead 2B.
A2 stood stoically over the body, looking at 9S as if he's just a small inconvenience. Not understanding, or maybe not knowing, the amount of pain he is going through. However, she is not heartless. As a sign of respect, she cuts her hair short with 2B's blade. Her hair glides down onto the bleeding body, while both of their short hairs flair in the wind.
For 9S, anger sets in. Unbridled rage directed at the one he saw, the one who killed 2B right in front of his eyes, A2. Ripping out an agonizing scream as the earthquake kicks up dirt, mud, and rock into the air, 9S wants to kill A2 for what she's done. For what she's done to 2B, for what she's done to him. "A2!" He screamed out, unsheathing his blad and turning into a full-front sprint once more.
The earthquake and tremors shake the bridge, throwing 9S around but he's keeping up his balance. His target, A2. Get over the bridge and kill A2, nothing else matters now. "I'll kill you!" The rolling waves of rock and earth destroy the bridge he is running across, catching him and flinging him off and into the ravine below. As he falls, a long pained, and broken scream echoes out until there is only the sound of crumbling Earth and rising white pillars.
A2 watches silently as 9S falls into the ravine, however, the tremors and earthquakes are not natural. The white pillars continuously rise from under the ground, and A2 realizes that this is a dangerous place to be. Fleeing the scene, A2 is linked up with Pod 042, instructed by 2B to help A2 in her mission.
'Everything that lives is designed to end, we are perpetually trapped… in a never-ending spiral of life and death. What I don't expect is for God to give me a new lease on life, a life with a significant role in it.' -YoRHa Number 2 Type-B, Audio Notes #22679
'So… this is the end for me…' 2B thinks to herself, floating in an endless pool of darkness and nothingness. It is just an empty void, where her body does not exist, only her mind and her last thoughts. 'Nines… I love you… finally, I can be at peace… no longer do I have to kill you…' Like swimming through an ocean of black, 2B's doing her epilogue.
No begging for her to return, no requests for 9S or A2 to be safe, no. 2B is content with the results, with 9S safe and A2 looking for the future of everything and everyone. She entrusted A2 with her memories, everything she knows, everything she felt, it's in the hands of A2 and 2B knows she can be trusted. As for 9S, 2B trusts him to not be reckless, but who is she kidding? He's so curious and quick to respond. Oh well…
Looking away from the matters of the living, she looks at herself, at the void surrounding her. The void she is swimming in, are there others like her? Is this it? Is this the afterlife? 'This is it… this is death.' Death is just an empty void, a place where there is nothing. Nothing to do, nothing to think about, death is a place where everything fades away. 'So… I just let go and be… free…' 2B ponders on what she must do to truly be dead, she's still thinking, she feels herself moving in this void but she cannot see herself.
A place where she dilutes away and becomes one with the endless void. She will be nothing more but… nothingness, her life has ended, nothing else she must or can do. 2B wonders, however, is it different for anyone else? Is this state of limbo exclusive to androids, or do the Humans of old experience this upon death too? 2B ponders about the machine's afterlife as well, remembering the times she watched a couple commit suicide, do they find the peace that is the void? Did they enjoy the release from the mortal realm? Or did they regret it… or is there a different place for machines. How about the aliens? The one that made her hunt them down only to find them dead in their ship, do they have a different place upon their deaths long ago?
What is she thinking about, she shouldn't be thinking. She should be fading away, releasing all of the thoughts, and just disappearing in the void and finally being dead. 'Then I suppose I will get to it… God may be impatient…' Closing her eyes and letting herself drift inside the void, she feels herself breaking away. In small parts, small chunks, she begins to fly away. To nothingness, where true death lies. God… heh, she guesses he's done with her, serving her purpose. YoRHa served its purpose and now it's gone, as easy as that huh?
Piece by piece, she breaks down in the void. Her mind slowly crumbles and her last few thoughts dust away, to a fate of nothingness. 'Goodbye, Nines. Goodbye, A2. I'll be going now, thank you for everything' The last of her body slowly floats away into nothingness, and in the next few seconds, she will be nothing but void. Giving out her last breath, 2B closes her eyes and unwinds her shoulders, as her torso begins to dust away.
A hand reached into the endless void from above, ripples and waves caused by the ferocity and velocity of the hand plunging into the water-like void. The hand continues to extend down, its arm plunging into the abyss as well and with enough reach, grabbed tightly onto the fading 2B's shoulder. 'What?' That's all 2B can say, as the tug of war between life and death begins. The rope? The supposed-to-be-dead android, 2B. The hand is bone-white, a light glowing hue of bloom surrounding it. It's a massive contrast to the complete darkness around her and is the only thing she can see here.
It tugs and pulls on her shoulder, pulling her up and when it does, death fights back and tries to pull 2B back in. Back into the void, to be void, to be what she is supposed to be at this state. 2B is dead, she is not to be alive any longer, she must be destroyed. However, the pull of the hand gets stronger with each force the void adds, and 2B, in her confusion in this little fight for her status in between realms, can only watch as she is pulled and tugged at like a doll two children are fighting over. And that's what she feels like right now, on the grander scale, she is just a doll, a puppet.
Feeling the frustration from the hand of living, the hand pulls with all of its might against death's firm grip on 2B, but she doesn't budge. Whatever is wanting her to be alive is struggling, and doesn't appear to be winning against the hand of death. Death is her fate, 2B guesses, no matter what thing wants her alive, she's dead. No revivals, no memory transfers, no new body, this is it, this is what she is designed for and should, and would stay that way. The hand tries again one more time, with all of its might it pulls up 2B, trembling in the process, but the void had adapted to the strength of life.
Hand of Life, as she now calls it, appears to be out of cards. Its strength is not enough to pull 2B out and cheat death itself, and 2B honestly wants that to be the case. She is content with the results in the realm of the living, she doesn't need to go back. She doesn't want to go through the pain of having to kill Nines again, and again, and again. 2B's glad it ended, her misery ended, the pain inflicted on 9S ended, now she just wants to be at peace and float away into nothing. With the Hand Of Life acting like it's out of breath, moving in a way that seems like it's heaving and taking deep breaths, 2B can only smile.
But the Hand Of Life has newfound determination as it once again grips tightly onto 2B. She expects it to fail as it had moments ago, surely the power of believing can't work. Something can be completed if the planning and strength needed is available, if not it will fail. But as it turns out, and as 2B is about to find out, the Hand Of Life has all of the resources it needs. More hands and arms plunge into the void water, all rushing out and reaching 2B.
They grab onto her shoulders, her back, her head, and even her hair. In a combined effort, they pull. They pull and pull until the void's grip slips and she is sailing up at a rapid speed into what she guesses is the surface. This is not what she wants, she is finished, she doesn't need to be alive anymore! 'No! Bring me back! Let me be at peace! No! No! No..' But the hands kept pulling, pulling her up from the depths of death and to the surface that is life. As she is pulled out of the water, she has cheated death.
2B wakes up on the ground, taking a deep breath as if she was running out of oxygen and just had swam up to the surface of the water. Her throat feels coarse and rough, her body weak and miserable, while her eyes are as wide as a machine's. 2B coughs, keeling over and rolling around to her knees and arms as she coughs out android body fluids onto the green grass. 2B heaves, has she never felt so at the edge of death like right now, or maybe she did just edge death, it's still confusing to her.
Taking deep breaths as she emptily stares at the grass and dirt she is kneeling over on, she takes this time to recalibrate herself. Check her vitals, check her black box. Is she still infected with the Logic Virus? How is the status of her weapons systems? Swallowing a lump that's growing in her dry and hoarse throat, her diagnostic process continues to take place. It says her vitals are normal, black box temperatures are normal, her weapon systems are nominal, but her pod support systems appear to be missing.
Raising one of her hands and going on to touch her face, she can feel herself, she is seeing her hands and arms! She is alive! Breathing heavily, 2B goes to touch her temple and the bridge of her nose and feel the military visor on her. Her map boots up, and it shows an entirely new landscape that's surrounding her. Straightening up, she looks down at herself and creates a reality check. She pats herself down, feeling every bit of her body to make sure this is real. She is alive, and she cannot believe it.
With this new revelation, she starts to look up. Moving her head around and taking in her surroundings. 'Where… am I?' Surrounded by lush green foliage and plants, with no sight of old rubble and broken down human structures. It's all nature, in its purest form without humans mixing anything. 2B has never seen such dense vegetation before, making her wonder how long she was dead. How long the fight between the Hand Of Life and the Grip Of Death lasted for in the mortal realm.
"9S?" 2B whispers, continuing to look at her surroundings, the singing of the birds and the rustling caused by the rabbits that are playing with one another, so unfamiliar. "9S.." 2B asks louder this time, calling out if 9S is out there. If she is alive, then 9S should know. If 2B is alive, 9S should be here with her. No! She should be there with him, what is she thinking!? "Nines!?" She yells out, clenching her hands into a fist as she is frustrated, frustrated that her calls are all in vain.
Maybe her communications array still works, maybe she can get a signal from 9S, or maybe send him a signal. Looking back into herself, she finds that her communications array is working optimally.. 2B puts out an emergency distress call that should be detected by YoRHa units in a one-thousand-kilometer radius. "Nines if you're out there, I'm here! It's me, 2B!" She calls out on the signal, desperate to get her 9S back and safe. She waits for minutes, her eyes closed as she focuses her full attention on the emergency call, but there is nothing. No answer, no feedback, no YoRHa. YoRHa maybe if she calls out for other YoRHa units she'll get a response.
"This is YoRHa Number 2 Type-B, any YoRHa members that are reading this transmission please respond!" 2B waited, and waited, for anything. A sneeze, a squeak, anything on that signal that would make it clear that someone was receiving. 2B tries one more time. "This is YoRHa Number 2 Type-B, this is an emergency broadcast. I require assistance, please! Any YoRHa units, please respond!" However, there's nothing but silence. 2B gives up on communications and turns off the array, now she's all alone.
All by herself, with as little information she has on her. No pod to conduct environmental scans or check the estimated time that has passed since her… death. Pushing herself up onto her feet, she's fully unscathed. The hole in her stomach is gone, and the best news of all, the Logic Virus is all gone. There are no traces of it in her system and no damaged software that would mean of its existence in her body in the first place. Just what happened exactly? That is her question, why did she get revived and is restored into full combat readiness? Checked out and ready, 2B pulls herself together and calms herself, if she is to find answers and to survive, she needs to be calm and critically think.
'There's an exit to the forest over there, I might be going out to the plains, it can give me a better view of everything.' As 2B walks, her heels and feet slightly sink into the dirt ground, her weight as an android, and the surface tension is not helping with this. However, she's sure that she'll get used to these new parameters in a few moments. After all, she's designed for frontline combat, at least on official records that is. Pushing aside leaves and grass, 2B walks out into the lovely sunshine and stands on the plains overlooking some of the most beautiful natural landscapes she has ever seen. 'Wow' 2B thinks in awestruck, admiring the beautiful view of the hills in the distance, and the endless field of green grass, and the border of trees separating the forest.
The wind is blowing especially hard, causing her cooling flair unit to blow in the wind as well. While her hair flows back from the wind, held by her hairpin from overflowing everywhere and having it be a mess. Where is she? Where has life taken her? Is this still Earth? As 2B looks up into the sky the sun is shining down ruthlessly, bathing the land in its warm rays. Looks like Earth, 2B takes a long deep breath, filling her breathing unit full and exhaling longingly. Smells like Earth, and 2B goes down to one knee, bending down and getting a second feel of the grass. Feels like Earth, is this Earth? If so, what part of Earth is she on?
Standing back up, patting away at her knee to get rid of stuck blades of grass, she once again looks onwards towards the horizon. What is her objective? What is her new purpose? What does life want from her that warrants her revival? Is it to kill again? To be a weapon for humanity? 2B doesn't hesitate if it's for the greater good, but her judgment from what she's seen so far, this world is perfect. No machines in sight, nor are there any pings on her map. Earth might have already healed at the time she is gone, and 9S… could be gone. Then her purpose is not to be with 9S, what a shame. YoRHa is gone, Adam and Eve are gone, 9S is gone, then who is she going to serve?
God himself? But why? What newfound purpose has been found for 2B? To be a gardener? To maintain the peace and quiet of this lush, healed world? A Guardian perhaps, judging from her combat readiness and miraculous recovery. Was it something that he saw in her? Something that makes her worthy to be revived and reborn into this garden of Eden. She hasn't even considered it, but is this the real afterlife? Was the hand, or were the hands, of life the right hand of the afterlife? Were they saving her from being assigned to such a sad and depressing end, to be put somewhere more fitting for her? A life of peace and quiet with no worries nor duty, just a Garden Of Eden she now roams in.
She didn't do anything to deserve such a perfect utopia. She didn't save Humanity, she didn't destroy the machine lifeforms, she only did all she could for 9S and the cause. An endless flood of questions, all too long to be answered, and ones she's going to be finding the answers to later. 2B hopes that is the case, however. What if there are no answers to her questions? Just silence, in this new world she finds herself alive in. 2B summons a small chair, gently sitting back and leaning on it. Crossing her arms, keeping her head down, and her gaze towards the floor, she has a lot of thinking to do.
Emroy, the God of darkness, war, and death. Countless generations, hundreds of millennia have passed since his ascent into godhood. A loyal apostle that has been serving him for over nine-hundred and sixty years, bringing in fresh blood and souls to his grasps. Granting prayers to his followers, and roam the continent to do as he pleases. Emroy had forgotten what it feels like to be mortal, to be walking among them and doing menial and meaningless tasks such as surviving. His apostle, Rory Mercury, tells the stories of the mortals. Their everyday trials, and the tribulations they must hurdle over, but it's all boring to him.
At least, that's what Rory thinks of her God. Being an apostle of Emroy, Rory can get near to the God as close as possible. But even then, the God is shrouded in mystery, and his machinations continue to whirr without her knowing why that is. She is but an apostle, a demi-goddess that carries out the wish of her lord, but this lenient treatment given to the apostle from her god gives her quite the relief. Unlike a slave or a puppet, Rory is free to do as she pleases, and can put forth her judgment on situations. She makes sure she pays it back by carrying out the rare direct wills of the god.
In the nine centuries, she has been walking on this Earth, she has gone through all emotions. Sorrow, rage, admiration, atonement, and most of all boredom. Many goodbyes have she said, to those that are traveling, and to those that passed into Emroy in her arms. Through the rolling hills, past the mountains, upon the plains, and in the thick forests, the apostle has seen and experienced all manner of things. From good to bad, to neutral, the apostle has gone through a lot.
Rory has been bored for a while now. There's no denying that she enjoys killing, when done righteously as it brings her great pleasure, both literally and figuratively. But the characters she passed by, the people who would bow down upon her presence, she doesn't find anything interesting to them. This is one of the many moments where the apostle would ask Emroy to give her an objective, one that is highly interesting and makes her come back for more. Something that makes even her question what is happening, or what her god is planning.
So when her morning prayers included the command from Emroy to hike the hill next to the Holy Hill Of Alnus, Rory was intrigued by the request. She wasn't given a specific location to stand on, but the direction is good enough that Rory is satisfied. Hopefully, there'll be some things on the way to keep her occupied until she arrives at the location. And so she begins her trek to the hill aside Alnus, with the sun rising from the horizon, her journey has just begun.
2B sits silently on the leaning chair, arms crossed, while her eyes watch the birds in the sky. They're all rather far away, little dots on the blue background and the white of the clouds. They're all flying in a circle, circling something. They could be crows, something 2B knows to be scavenger animals. They take off the scraps of things hunted by others, picking away at the meat and bone marrow of dead animals. Food isn't something she needs some of the contents of human foods and even raw animal organs are toxic to her hardware within. But as she watches the crows fly in the sky, waiting for a time where they can get their meal, she knows they have an objective to follow.
That objective is to eat, not starve, and to survive. To live on for another day of living, repeating the same cycle again and again. Sounds so simple and useless, why continue when you don't have any other purpose except to just exist. Yet, 2B finds jealousy in watching these animals. They move with intent and purpose, determine to live. It is because they have an everyday objective that they can follow. Eat, drink and sleep. Menial needs can be sated in an instant, but these are what drive them forward. They have a routine, and thus, go into a comfortable rhythm where they find purpose and sometimes enjoyment.
However, 2B can't do these things. Androids only sleep when they are out of commission, or during a system reboot. They don't find any satisfaction or physical improvement out of closing their eyes and letting their mind drift in the realm of dreams. 2B cannot eat, because once again, some of it is toxic and she does not experience hunger. 2B doesn't need to drink, water may be essential to life, but she doesn't need it to be alive. Alive… she's been thinking about it. Is 2B alive, or is she truly alive? Alive can mean two things, first the biological and mechanical process of breathing, moving, and living. The second is the sensations one feels from an achievement, the sorrow they feel when they are sad, the happiness when they are ecstatic, and the rage when they lose someone.
Then which one is 2B on? Is she the first, or is she on the second? Or is it a combination of both? She doesn't have a sense of purpose, lost in this world that she is dropped in, no objectives to follow, and hence no sense of pride, sorrow, happiness, or a drive to do something. If that is the case, then she considers herself to be the first type of alive. She is alive because her hardware and programming say she is alive, and nothing else to it. 2B will have to wait until the hand of life to reveal itself once again and give her a significant purpose to make her truly alive. That is her newfound goal, to find out what her purpose is in this world, even if it takes her to the ends of it to know.
A jolt of energy wakes her from her time of thinking. Her map has shown a new blip on it, a black rectangle that appears to be heading straight to her location. Whether this is an animal that her radar picks up, or if it's a threat, she doesn't know. So far all she's seen is nature and wildlife, and nothing else. If this is the "Hand of Life" that brought her out from the dark ocean that is death and placed her here, then she will need to talk to them. Looking up, in search of the crows, they are now much closer and are reachable by a five-second sprint if 2B wishes to do so. The crows were not circling a catch, they're circling and are following the blip on her map.
Standing back up, with her seat disappearing, 2B awaits patiently for this blip to arrive. Facing the direction of the crows, 2B can see a small figure in the distance. First, the most obvious characteristic 2B can make out, is a large ax or a halberd. So this… thing, is armed. The next is its body shape, bipedal and boasting two arms, it has animalistic ears at the top of its head with fingers wrapped around the handle of the halberd. Wait… it looks like… an android! As it walks closer and closer, and with its features getting clearer and clearer to 2B, there's no doubt that it is an android and a female one. The uniform is slightly different, a flair dress with red strips and black undertones.
'What…' Summoning Virtuous Contract beside her, 2B grabs the handle of her trusty weapon, as she looks on at the approaching figure with confused, yet curious eyes. It's short, shorter than 2B but now its features are indistinguishable, she is an Android. Or could it be a machine like Adam and Eve? They both stand, facing one another, on the field of grass the goes on for hundreds of meters. 2B displays her stoicism, not giving up any emotions, but keeping a neutral stand. "Who… are you?"
The girl hatches a mischievous grin, plunging the end of the halberd into the soil, and leaning against it. Her girly personality now shining through, and 2B awaits for her to introduce herself first. "Nomen mihi est Rory Mercurius dei belli et tenebrarum apostolus, Emroy." 2B can only blink upon hearing the… words, the girl just said. What language is that? Does she understand what she asked for? 2B pieces some of those words together and quickly notices three words that have a different intonation than the rest. Rory, Mercurius, and Emroy. The translation is not her art, nor is she equipped for this type of job. Usually, her pod will be doing the calculations and searching, but without Pod 049, she's left to do this on her own. If the basic structure of languages hasn't betrayed her in this new world, these toned words are names. Rory, Mercurius, and Emroy, but who they could be?
2B slowly lowers her arm, Virtuous Contract now pointed at the ground. 2B points at the girl and speaks. "Rory..? You're Rory..?" 2B asks whether the word Rory is the girl's name. 2B doesn't know how to approach this, as regularly, the pod has entire databanks that it could pull from and send over to 2B. Now she only has what is inside her memory core, and her ability to pick up subtle details in speech. Lowering her arm when she got her answer, the girl nods with a gleeful smile as the girl also has a look of curiosity, but an expression of excitement, impatient for something. "Rory… then I take your full name is, Rory Mercurius?" Rory tilts her head to the right in confusion, so 2B sees, the girl doesn't understand what she is saying too. They both don't understand one another, and that can be problematic. However, the girl shrugs her shoulders and nod a few times to what 2B said. 'Rory Mercurius, Mercury… Rory Mercury.'
Author's End Notes
Hello readers! I appreciate you reading until the end, and as for recurring readers that have read my more popular fic, Gate: SCP-4902, yes, I am starting a new story. I need a break from the Foundation, and I feel like this more close-up, one-character-focused fanfiction will do well! If there are any Nier fans in the audience and you liked this first chapter, thank you very much!.
I'll keep in touch! Any questions asked through reviews will be answered in the next chapter, as I want to create some transparency between me, the writer, and you, the reader. Take care!
