Chapter 5: Perception

The melodic play of a flute and harp echoed across the rowdy inn, filled with loud men ranging from explorers, scholars, to soldiers. An inn was where people from all sorts of backgrounds and social stature, rich or poor, come and have a drink, and socialize. While nobles and knights preferred well-rounded and delicious wine over ale and pisspoor alcohol, to some the atmosphere of an inn is compared to none other.

This particular inn was a popular stop for merchants and guards to sit down and unwound, as it was located between Italica and the Capital of the Saderan Empire. The owner of the inn and their waitresses never saw a rest in business, as almost every day, and every night, their seats were filled fully, sometimes it even overflowed with guests. However, tonight, it felt louder than usual.

In one corner of the inn, one of the new waitresses was servicing a table of men. Their clothes made them appear to be guards and mercenaries, arms for hire. Usually to guard caravans and merchants with their goods of bandits and opportunistic wanderers. Their conversation from afar was drowned out by other conversations that took place, and the music added more noise.

Yet they appeared to be having the time of their life, faces of bewilderment and amazement painted the mens' faces. "They drove off a Flame Dragon!?" They all shouted in unison, and that alone made most of the inn go quiet, and many heads turned to look at what or who had shouted those words. Music continued to flow, as it was the musician's job to continue playing regardless of what happened, yet most of the patrons kept quiet.

The waitress, a mid-built woman that wore a harness with a long dress, the basic uniform handed out by the inn to waitresses. Her face was brimmed with a large smile, as her look of happiness and amusement made content to the mens' shock and surprise. "Mhm! With all their might, they charged the Flame Dragon head on! And managed to drive it off!" It left the men, and most of the other guests speechless after she continued her story.

But it appeared the waitress didn't want to continue the story, at least not for free, as she walked away from the table with a tray in hand. As she walked to get a pair of drinks for some other patrons, the inn fell into a murmur that felt like a storm was brewing. 'Skilled swordsmen and elves weren't able to defeat it!' Were among the lines that were spoken in the deafening whispers. It was reasonable for them to be highly skeptical of the story, the Flame Dragon was a legendary beast that was deemed impossible to slay.

On the other side of the inn, in an isolated table with four patrons that wore particularly heavy armor with hair that was well-groomed. The one with red hair averted her attention away from the rest of the inn, and back to the inclusive group. She looked towards the one with chestnut-auburn hair, and then the one with blonde hair, and the last that was across from her with grey hair. They all looked at one another with looks of skepticism, while it had initially surprised them to hear the news of these green-dotted wearing people that had driven off a flame dragon, that initial surprise wore off.

"We couldn't be so sure about this news, the waitress could be lying." The red-head whispered towards her compatriots and expressed her thoughts regarding the new hot topic in town. It was highly far-fetched, and it was safe to assume that the waitress made the story up to please the guests with a fantastical story so she could get a raise. "However, there is no denying that if these 'men-in-green' exist, they would be a powerful ally to the Empire." The red-head continued. "But, they could be mercenaries that only bow down to the highest bidder, and could stab us in the back. Sir Noma, what do you think?"

The one with blonde hair sighed, and through his body and the expression on his face, he conveyed his displeasure on drinking crappy ale in some commoner town. A noble knight like him should be served in a banquet, with wine and delicious bread with an assortment of meat. The blonde sighed and returned his eyes towards the redhead. "My apologies for my curtness, Princess Pina, but I have to say it sounds like a whole bag of lies to me." The blonde commented on the topic, sounding tired and unenthusiastic about this whole ordeal. "However, I suppose there is some truth to the flame dragon they fought." Noma then turned his attention to the one with Auburn hair. "How about you Lady Hamilton?"

Hamilton gave the story some thought and formed the opinion she was about to say. It was hard to say what was real and fake, but Noma did say there was some truth to it. "I do believe that the event happened, they saved two-thirds of a village's population after all," Hamilton recalled to the Waitress's earlier storytelling before the outburst of the men. "Yet I still couldn't wrap it around my head, it sounds so strange. Sir Grey?" Hamilton gazed to her right towards the older gentleman with gray hair, however, he didn't look like he wanted to express his opinions yet. Instead, he drank his ale with a smile and wanted to hear the whole story first.

The waitress that had told the story to the group of men had coincidentally gone past their table, and with their skepticism and untrust, she wanted to set it right. "But it's the truth, noble knights!" The waitress said while she walked over in between Hamilton and Pina. The waitress lowered herself so she's more heard by the knights, and told them the truth. "It was a flame dragon for sure, I've seen it with my own eyes." The waitress's statement was laughed at by Noma, which prompted her to pout from such a response. However Hamilton wanted the waitress to continue, and as an item of persuasion, gave the waitress a Silver Denari.

The waitress got excited just then, and took the coin with haste, not wanting to let the moment pass. With a big smile on her face, she thanked Hamilton. "Thank you, young knight! Let me announce it." The waitress stood up and faced the patrons of the inn, cleared her throat, and clapped her hands together to gain the attention of the inn. The entire inn looked on at her with curious intent, and they already knew what she was going to tell, and they were all eager to hear it. "There were twelve people that helped us evacuate Koda Village, two were women." A little interruption when Noma asked what these women looked like, and briefly the waitress described them in detail and caused the inn to coo.

"Ahem! Back on topic." The waitress announced, wanted to get back to the topic of conversation at hand. "On our journey, we picked up two more people. The first was Rory Mercury, the Reaper." And that announcement garnered many gasps, and a couple of murmurs ensued, however, the waitress was not finished. "The second was only known by the name as 'Two-Bee'." The inn fell silent, confused faces were painted on all of them, and many tried to think of who 'Two-Bee' was. Their curiosity and the suspense got to one of them and asked the waitress to describe who this 'Two-Bee' was.

"We didn't know, she was a woman with no allegiances. Her hair was pure white and wore a blindfold that hindered her vision. While she wore a short black dress, her skin was glisteningly porcelain white, and didn't appear real until you saw her with your own two eyes." The waitress paused, wanting to see the reaction from the crowd however they were surprisingly silent. It was obvious to her, however, that they didn't dare speak because they were talking about Rory The Reaper, and this 'Two-Bee' probably came with the apostle. "I saw her, and she was shrouded in mystery."

"She was reserved in her speech, didn't show any emotions, and most mysterious of all, she was able to see even with the blindfold on. I saw her myself, and she could walk and see just fine. The men-in-green supposedly let them be, and we continued on our way." Audience retention has peaked, and it appeared they could not wait to hear what the waitress had to say next. "Then the flame dragon attacked, we were in an open desert so there were nowhere we could hide!" The waitress gestured with her arms and body, emotions of fear and sadness ladened her face as she remembered vividly what happened.

"Many were consumed, I was about to be as well. But, like a flash of darkness, 'Two-Bee' appeared, and she took me to safety in an instant. She didn't say much, but there was one thing she told me, she told me to run." The waitress stopped to catch her breath. "'Two-Bee' charged the flame dragon head-on, running in speeds that only an apostle could reach, only Rory the Reaper could compete with. She showed no fear nor hesitation, and when the dragon strikes down on her with its hand, she dodged expertly without a sweat! Two-Bee pierced the dragon's hand with her blade, and it roared out in pain!"

"'Two-Bee managed to stab the flame dragon through its scales!" It shocked everyone within the inn, even she couldn't fathom the events that unfolded in front of her. "And then the dragon flew off the ground and brought Two-Bee with it, and she fell its back and pierced the dragon again! Creating a huge gash in its back! The dragon trashed around in a panic and bumped Two-Bee off its back, but she was not done yet! Two-Bee cut through the dragon's soft membrane of its wings and descended like an angel from heaven!"

The waitress caught her breath again, her story got her to shout and yell, while playing the scene out with her arms and body. "Through Two-Bee's efforts, the men-in-green was able to get 'The Rod Of Steel'. Boom! A massive explosion occurred and it blew off the dragon's arm clean! For the first time, I saw the Flame Dragon express fear, and through desperate roars, it flew away into the horizon, with its blood pouring out of its newfound wounds."

It didn't shock 2B in any capacity. A military force would indeed have an operating base, and this star-fortress was no different. Its purpose was the same as the Bunker, as a center of operations in an area, house the soldiers with amenities and the necessary requirements, while being defensible in case of an attack. If it were in space, 2B would be impressed, but since it's planet-side, it didn't phase 2B at all.

While she insisted that she was able to keep up on foot with the vehicles, both the soldiers and Rory insisted greatly that she's to board one of the vehicles. She appreciated the gesture, as humans were not androids and did not have good endurance, which meant their physiology and capability context was different. 2B didn't want to be difficult with the humans, so reluctantly she rode inside one of the vehicles.

Now she stood in the crowd of refugees, as their primitive eyes scoured and feasted on the, they thought, were feats of engineering that weren't possible. The soldiers stayed with them until further orders, and their commander walked off with another human, most likely for a debriefing. 2B looked down at her hands and balled them into a fist. Virtuous Contract was missing, her NCFS was disrupted with that explosion, and it flew out of her hand. It must be near where the battle site was, and she intended to go back out and retrieve her weapon.

And that time to get Virtuous Contract back? Was now. She didn't care whether it's day or night, or if the time was inconvenient, she must get her weapon back. 2B could fight fine without it, her NCFS could purpose virtually anything as a weapon, however, Virtuous Contract held some sentimental values to 2B. It was one of 2B's only connections back to her world, and not only that, she saw many battles and won many victories with Virtuous Contract. If she could retrieve it, it would please her greatly.

2B slowly pushed past the children and the two adults they had brought over and walked away from the group. She's headed to the entrance to the base and wanted to get Virtuous Contract again. But before she took another step, she looked up into the night sky and saw the stars again. It would never get old for the Android, and she wished 9S was here to witness it with 2B. That's what she had realized as well, she was still attached with 9S, even though he was not here.

"Where are you going?" Came the voice of Rory from behind 2B. She turned around, and saw the whole group of the local refugees, stood and staring at her. Not in a judgemental way, but was confused and curious about why 2B had begun to walk away, towards the exit of all places. "We just arrived here, where are you going now?" Rory was confused as well, her voice was low with a hint of persuasion. Rory wanted 2B to stay just for a little while, and at the same time, she was asking where 2B was going.

Everyone looked at 2B with the same questions on their faces. The children and elderly she had saved from harm's way. "I lost my weapon during the battle with the Flame Dragon." 2B began. "I'm going to retrieve it." Rory suddenly hopped off the front seat of the vehicle she had been leaning out of to look at 2B, the apostle walked over to where the rest of the group stood. "I will be back, it will only take a few moments." 2B reassured the group that she was not going to leave permanently, just to get her weapon back.

"If that is the case, then we should go together, Two-Bee" Rory replied to 2B's answer and extended her hand out as an invitation. Or perhaps a request for 2B to take Rory along with her search. But all of a sudden, Rory's hand returned to her side, then the apostle side while she held her halberd tighter. "But we can do that tomorrow, alright? For now, stay." Rory then gestured towards the group of refugees, who looked at 2B with sincere eyes of wanting 2B to stay.

"Please stay with us, Your Holiness Two-Bee." One of the children called out with his soft, pleading voice. 2B was unsure how to answer, she had never had anyone, or a group of people, wanting her to stay with them. 2B swallowed, and craned her head to look at the entrance of the fortress. 2B then looked back at the group of refugees, and now, all of the children said. "Please stay!" While the elderly only smiled solemnly.

2B had to decide which one was more important, was it Virtuous Contract, the weapon that she had a long history with, fought with, and cared for. Or was it the refugees she had saved from the flame dragon, who was now safe inside the walls of the soldiers with the cars and firearms while the rest had reached the safety of the town they intended to go to in the first place? 2B balled her hands into a fist and bit her lip in contemplation.

2B took a step back, and turned around towards the exit, and began walking away. 2B could hear the disappointed sigh of Rory, while the quiet whines of the children. It may appear selfish to them for 2B to prioritize an object over people, over humans, but 2B's judgment told her that they were now safe. Her staying would've wasted precious time, and in the time she would stay and be in the fortress, Virtuous Contract could've been brought even farther away by stray animals. Besides, she wasn't leaving forever, she will be back by the time it took her to find Virtuous Contract.

Dust kicked up with every step 2B took, and her speed was that of a car going on full speed. There was urgency in her mission to find and retrieve Virtuous Contract, and she didn't plan to delay anything. The night was still beautiful as ever, with the full bright moon at the apex of its orbit, 2B had good visibility throughout her run. The wind crashed onto her face, but it didn't deter her. The air was crisp and fresh, much different than the sands of the desert or the concrete-filled fallen city.

2B followed the dirt trail that they traveled on to get to the Human fortress and used it as a guide for her to return to the site of the battle. She concluded that searching the area first was the most efficient and probable area Virtuous Contract could've fallen into. 2B still hoped for Pod 042 to be here just to make the situation and compiling of information much easier.

And there was a lot of information that 2B had gathered in the few days she had arrived in this world. From gods that existed, to the existence of humans, to the factions of the continent, and the concept of magic. 2B has yet to witness magic being used, and if it was used at any time she was present, she didn't notice it at all. The explosion that had blown off the Flame Dragon's arm could've been magic at play, and the one who cast it could've been Rory, but 2B wasn't sure since she didn't see it well enough.

2B ran and ran, she ran as fast as she could and without feeling any exhaustion, she was able to do this forever. But while her speed was considered superhuman, it wasn't fast enough to cover that much distance. No, even with the vehicles, it took them three hours to arrive at the fortress. 2B slowed down to a stop, in her vision were the remains of the arm of the flame dragon, and the crater she had created. She looked up into the sky and the moon was a quarter of its way to set, which meant it took her two hours to arrive.

2B raised her arms and grabbed hold onto her elbow with her left, she stretched her limbs and body, getting prepared for the search ahead. Well, no time like the present, and 2B head straight to work. First, she went to the flame dragon's arm, and while searching for Virtuous Contract was her primary objective, once she was within arms' reach, she wanted to inspect the flame dragon's scales. The blood-red scales shimmered under the moonlight, while 2B traced her hand over the hard surface.

The scales felt smooth and flat, like glass or porcelain. There were no signs of rigidness or roughness in its texture, it was pure and as if were hand-crafted, evolution works in many different ways. 2B turned her hand around and made the back of her hand face the scales, then with the joint of her index finger, she tapped the scales. It came back as solid and no hollowness was found, and with the strength to sustain firearms, it would be extremely dense in its structure.

2B didn't have a scanning tool or an inspection module, so it bummed her out to a degree that she wasn't able to get an even closer look, but this satisfied her enough. 2B moved on from inspecting the scales to finding Virtuous Contract, and it began with searching under the arm. 2B slipped her hand beneath one end of the arm, and with all of her strength and might, effortlessly pulled up the dragon's arm. The scene was best-described to look like a person searching for a lost item beneath furniture, as 2B searched every inch of the ground beneath the arm, and shuffled every few meters to do so.

No luck beneath the arm, so 2B moved on to the crater where she had fallen into. But with a single glance, the Android could tell Virtuous Contract was not here. And if it was here, then she could've known it was there and should've taken it when she woke up. But no, it was not there, and not on the grassy plains either. 2B looked around and looked towards the line where the plains and desert met, if it wasn't in this plains with a patch of trees, she would search the desert for Virtuous Contract.

2B walked into the patch of trees and initiated an area scan to hopefully pick up bits and traces of Virtuous Contract. To her luck, however, the scan had picked up an object with the signature look of Virtuous Contract. 2B jogged to the location, pushing past bushes and slipping against trunks of trees before she arrived. There it was, it had landed blade first and dug into the ground, with the handle standing on high.

2B stood next to her weapon and formed a small smile. She was glad it's not taken away by some animal, and that was an easy enough search. 2B grabbed the handle and pulled the blade out of the soil, where she would wipe the dirt away with a single slide of her hand. Her NCFS recognized the weapon and took it back under its influence, at which point 2B let go of it and it disappeared in a flash of golden ember. It reappeared on her back, suspended with the golden halo of the NCFS.

Crickets chirp away while owls hoot into the night, the light rustling of the leaves and bushes while the gentle breeze of the night wind gives 2B a sense of an enigmatic night. It felt magical, especially within this forest and it felt like there were hundreds and if not thousands of small presence around her. There was still a lot about the magic that 2B didn't understand yet, however, she concluded that this must be magic, and it was beautiful.

All of a sudden 2B heard disconnected sobs and the soft cries of a boy from the deeper parts of this small forest. It sounded like a small boy's voice, and when she listened closer, it sounded like he had been crying for hours. Coarse throat alongside some choking between cries, 2B had to investigate the source. She walked past the area where Virtuous Contract was found and headed deeper into the forest, closer to the source of the crying. 'I can get him back to the fortress and put him under their care' 2B thought.

Pushing away from the blades of leaves from a particularly large bush, she entered a small patch of grass with no trees. The forest canopy had opened up above and let significant moonlight flow in, and in the middle of the grassy patch sat on his knees, a boy with pure white hair, and a limp, corpse of a woman with brunette hair. 2B thought how the boy's hair was very unnatural, compared to every other human she saw and approached with caution.

The boy was nearing the end of his energy supply, as his intense cries were reduced to silent murmurs and quiet sobbing. His hands wiped away tears that couldn't stop flowing, while his body trembled from fear, sadness, and the cold of the night. "Hey-" 2B said softly towards the boy, which prompted the boy to look up at 2B. He looked confused, and his face was blocked by his hands. 2B closed the gap and took a knee in front of the boy. "It's okay, I'm here to help."

The boy appeared to be around the age of ten, with the height that would tower the other children but was still shorter than 2B. She raised her hands and softly take hold of the boy's hands, and pulled them away from his face. 2B gasped as her heart skipped a beat, light blue eyes with slightly chubby cheeks, with pure white hair. "Nines…?" 2B whispered, out of breath and shocked. She blinked away and tried to see if she can get out of this hallucination, but it appeared the boy's appearance was that of 9S.

2B shuffled closer to the boy and cupped his cheeks, she wiped away the tears from his face and ran one of her hands through his hair. "..Uh… What's your name?" 2B didn't know how to act, was this 9S? Or just one massive hallucination she was having? Or could this entire situation be another dream of hers? Did she pass out on the site where Virtuous Contract had fallen? No way that would happen without her realizing it happened.

"M-my name…?" The boy asked through bated breaths and heavy sobs. He wiped away the tears from his eyes on his own, and through a sniffle, he answered. "Novem." He did look like 9S, and 2B had to fight the urge of freezing up. 2B continues to stroke Novem's hair and pat his head. Afterward, she wrapped one arm around his shoulders and brought him close, patting his back with her other hand.

"Hm… Novem huh? It's alright, you're safe now." 2B reassured Novem of his safety, then glanced at the corpse of a woman who 2B could only guess was Novem's mother. Yet the contrast between Novem's pure white hair and his mother's brunette color told a different story altogether. 2B dug a hole four-meter down in the patch of grass and lowered the body of the woman down into the new grave. Novem watched from farther away, while 2B filled the hole back up, and buried the woman's body. After the deed was done, 2B approached Novem again and asked with a small smile. "Are you hungry?"

Rory sat on the crest of a small hill that overlooked the land, this was the location of the new refugee camp the otherworlders had designated for them. Tents had been set up for them and the gathering ground had been unanimously named. The morning sun rose from below the horizon, and one of the many thoughts Rory couldn't get out of her head was: 'Where was 2B?' While Rory was sure that 2B was capable of holding up on her own, the fact that it took all night worried Rory somewhat.

2B could get lost on the way to the battle site, however, Rory knew that 2B had that magic map with her visor. She still didn't understand much of 2B just yet, but her mysterious and sardonic attitude made the sadistic and mischievous apostle intrigued with the person. Rory got up to her feet and sighed, turned around, and walked back to the camp. Once there, she was met by the members of the refugee camp, children and elderly alike. They gathered around a table they used for breakfast.

The children ran up to the apostle, bright smiles on their faces, and excitement ran in their veins. The children returned to the table, and Rory saw they had been served the food of the otherworld, steaming and still hot in a container that she did not know about. Rory sat alongside all of them and looked towards the blue-haired mage and her master. "Lelei, Master Kato, how's it going?" Rory asked politely and garnered the attention of both mages who bowed their head in respect.

"Oh, we're fine, your holiness Rory. If you were wondering why we followed the men-in-green with you, Lelei here insisted that we follow them, that she wanted to learn more about them." The old mage said in a teasing tone, giving glances towards his pupil who had returned to scooping the food into her mouth. "I agree with her, there's so much we could learn from them and I'm eager to start as well!"

Lelei didn't express the same emotion as the old mage and only replied with a solemn nod while focusing on the food a little too much. Maybe she was curious with how quickly it was made, the brilliant taste, Rory was curious as well but not to the point of complete and utter focus like Lelei. The apostle only giggled as she take another spoonful of food into her mouth, and she savored the dancing of flavors she tasted. Everyone appeared happy, the otherworlders treated them nicely and fairly and helped them without asking for any seen compensation just yet.

Some of the soldiers from beyond the gate walked around the corner and entered the refugee camp, and prompted the refugees to look towards the approaching men and women. With a broken speech, but was still understandable, they informed the refugees that they were going to list their names so it would be easier for them to process in the future. No one seemed to have a problem with what they asked for, however one of the children suddenly called out and pointed towards the road that lead out of the area of the fortress.

Everyone turned their heads, and they all widened their eyes at the same time. 2B walked down the road towards the refugee camp, walking alongside her was a boy who held her right hand. But what shocked everyone was the fact that she was carrying a full-sized sheep on her shoulder, with her left hand supporting it up and not letting it fall. 2B set down the sheep, and looked at everyone in the eyes one by one, before announcing. "I'm back."

Rory chuckled from the sight and stood up from the chair, walking over to 2B and looking down at the boy she had brought over. Rory didn't need to squat down, as his height was nearly the same as hers. The boy looked shy, and shuffled behind 2B and hiding away from Rory's gaze. The apostle giggled at the boy's behavior and looked up towards 2B. "So, did you find it?" And 2B decided to show rather than tell, slightly bending her body and shoulder to the right, and showed the blade suspended in the air with a golden halo. "Glad you found it! Now come on, everyone's eager to get to know you!"

The soldiers left them alone for the time being, while Rory and 2B, along with the boy, met everyone in the camp. 2B appeared interested in the two mages, and the elf. Rory knew why, and only smugly smiled when 2B said that they'll be hearing a lot from the Android. When 2B was offered food, she shook her head and flatly stated that she doesn't eat, and instead to give it to the boy. Although judging from the sheep's missing leg, the boy's stomach was already full. "So what's his name?" Rory asked as she leisurely sat back in her chair.

2B glanced over at the white-haired boy, identical to 2B's, that was sitting next to her. "His name's Novem, I found him in my search for my weapon. His mother was killed by an animal, unknown what kind." 2B looked back at Rory, then the rest of the refugees. "I buried her and brought him here." Everyone showed sympathy for the boy, the children, and the elderly, alongside the elf Tuka that had come out of her tent a few moments ago.

Afterward, the soldiers came back and wanted to get started with the listing of the refugees' names. Rory told the truth to them all, except for her age, which she playfully denied information of. But when it got to 2B, it was obvious there would be complications. What's more surprising was their request for a closer physical examination. Before 2B went with them, Rory stopped them by placing a hand on 2B's shoulder. The apostle whispered: "Play along, stay with the narrative." 2B nodded, and made her weapon disappear.

"Physical Examination huh…" 2B wondered aloud as she was escorted by two of the soldiers, now out of their combat equipment but still wearing the camouflage equipment. One was in front of them, was the human healer that was much taller than 2B, with long flowing black hair. While behind her was a man that she recognized as their team commander or captain. While her mind didn't race, nor her heart pounded, she was still unsure of the prospect of these soldiers knowing the full extent of herself.

What complications would arise if they were to find out about her being an Android? Would she still be considered a refugee? Would she be kept in captivity? 2B didn't know the situation these soldiers were facing, nor their policy. But from what she could guess from what she's seen, they were to occupy the land, and conduct reconnaissance. She would need to do some intelligence gathering, quite a lot of it. 2B looked up and saw the entrance into the fortress, the one she had entered and left before. "It will be quick, we're investigating your capabilities." The human woman to 2B's front tried to reassure her.

It made sense for them to do this, they witnessed something that humans weren't capable to endure. 2B's speed, strength, and resilience probably dumbfounded them all. She was ushered into a small building beside the courtyard near the entrance, and it appeared to be some medical facility or sort. The sterile white walls and the cool air made for a pristine and clean look, one that was akin to medical facilities. 2B and her escorts walked past the entrance room that was filled with seats and a counter which sat behind it was another human.

They went up a set of stairs that led to a hallway, where they opened and entered the first room to the right. A bed, a table, with a couch and some medical equipment to one side of the wall. 2B glanced back and found the man stayed outside, and closed the door behind them. "Alright, we're only going to take measurements of your body, alright?" The human healer, who gestured to the center of the room with a wide and sweet smile. "Please, stand in the center." 2B nodded and took the step needed to get to the center, afterwards the human healer took a measuring tape and measured 2B's height.

The results she scribbled down onto a piece of paper on a wooden plank, then set it down on the medical counter before turning to the small pad device with a display on the floor. "Please step on it to get your weight." 2B was hesitant, her height wouldn't give away much about her real identity, but her weight would be another problem. Fortune favors the bold, besides what can they do to her? 2B stepped onto the small pad and stood for several seconds. The display give out 2B's weight in a measurement term she didn't recognize, however, it shocked the Human healer, and she looked at 2B with widened eyes and a slightly gaping jaw.

"What are you-?"
