I've been a reader of fanfiction for quite a while, and I have even tried writing a couple of times. I never posted because I could never get very far. Regardless, I enjoy a good read when I find it.

A couple comments about fanfiction:

1) Its called a cliche because a lot of people have written it, but have you ever wondered why a lot of people wrote it? = Maybe its a good idea.

2) A Super! character is disliked and poorly reviewed by many people because they don't have a glaring weakness that every enemy can use to defeat them. But those same reviewers like a Super! character... = A Super! character isn't super if they have a glaring weakness. Period.

3) A Super! character is still super when not only their Archenemy is EvenMoreSuper!, but also every one of the minions (and any randomly encountered OC) that they fight against are Super!... even when all the other "good guys" are no stronger than normal. = A Super! character is hard to write. If you're not sure how to write them, don't just make everyone stronger. Your story will go out of control with everything you are trying to make up and/or add. It destroys the story.

4) A Super! character is still super when early in the story every ability/strength that they have is taken away from them and they must start over as the weakest character in the story.

5) Because character A, who is chosen by prophecy/bloodline/divine right/dumb chance must be extremely strong and powerful because the universe depends on them to defeat the Dark Lord/Megalomanic, so too is their girlfriend. Keep in mind, since 2) implies the hero has at least one significant fault, their girlfriend must be smarter, more skilled, more knowledgable, and capable of defeating the hero with ease. = If you give a main character a special ability that makes them stronger, or an event causes them to get stronger than canon, don't make everyone else get stronger too. If Naruto, and Sakura, and Sausuke, and Shikamaru, and Choji, and Ino, and Shino, and Hinata, and Kiba, and.. and.. and.. and.. are all S-class before they graduate, then the story is simple. The Akatsuki are destroyed, Konoha takes over the Elemental Nations, and there is peace. Make your change and stick with it. See where it goes, don't keep making more and more changes. Once again, it destroys the story.

6) In an AU story, a different decision was made at year 0, this caused all changes in the story due to the butterfly affect. Which is why at year -20 the hero's mother/father fell in love with someone else, and the hero has a flashback to year -5 where their life totally changed. = Just make it AU. You're already forcing too many changes on the story. Once again, make a change and stick with it. See where it goes. Don't keep making change after change. That's not a plot, it's an overpopulation of plot bunnies.

7) Just because the main character has a different personality and is far stronger/weaker than they are in canon, doesn't mean that canon can't happen in exactly the same way. Instead of being caused by luck, the same event unfolds the same way through skill, or vice versa. = Canon is not what will happen. It's what happened in one case. If you change something, canon should become fanon. Not canon with hat on. If you throw Wing Zero into the Gundam Seed universe, the story will not be !!The Same Exact Thing!! (Wing Zero in background taking out Ginns) it will be something different.

7-2) When a new plot is created, it doesn't matter if nothing you write in order to achieve that plot makes sense. Ex. Harry Potter becomes Gandalf's heir and takes over for him because the immortal Istari dies of old age... If you have a good plot, figure out how to make it work. Don't just use the first thing that comes to mind and force it to follow your plot. = I just recently decided that the inverse of some of these canon issues should be a rule too. If you have a plot, figure out a way to make it work. Don't just tell the plot with characters that don't fit. I have said before, make a change and see where the story goes. That does not equate to show where the story went, then put random characters in.

7.5) When introducing a crossover character into another universe, it doesn't matter if that character is stronger than anyone else in that universe. The universe they entered will closely follow canon due the inserted character; a) letting other characters fight, b) not caring how events play out or just wanting to see how they play out, or c) while they could help the other characters, and save a lot of people from a lot of suffering, they are inexplicably unable to act due to a newly inserted weakness or because they are "too strong". = It's either a crossover or a retelling of canon from a specific observer's point of view. One could be a good story. The other will bery likely cause a headache followed by a closed browser window.

8) A character goes back in time, and retains all of their power, knowledge, strength, and maybe even gains more. However, their going back in time may cause spontaneous survival of parents or generation of siblings in the years preceeding their arrival. Also note that the character from the future, who has triumphed over evil and is stronger and more knowledgable than anyone else in the future, trains with their parents (who can teach them everything, of which they know nothing). Their siblings, who did not come back in time and retain years of training to increase their power, can do everything that they do, and they can do it easier. = Do I really have to say anything here?

9) If your summary is "GIANT SERIES SPOILER!!! Warning, contains spoilers." Then... I'm not sure. But you should probably rewrite it.

10) If your summary is either "Summary inside" or "I'm not good with summaries, just read" then your story probably has no substance either. However, "...full summary inside." has its place.

11) If your summary is "Simply put..." or "Short and to the point..." or "Basically, the premise of my story is..." etc. rewrite it. Rather than a summary of a story, it's a summary of a summary.

This is fun, they may not all make sense since they are generalizations because I am trying not to point out specific instances, but they still amuse me. Truthfully, I have not used a single example from a story I have read. Please don't read into it. I'm just frustrated about how many stories with a lot of potential are left to rot because their writer got lazy or stopped paying attention.

My first Story: Hemavoid

I won't say that this is a great work of writing. I haven't written anything before. This is just a storyline I thought up a while ago, I wrote some notes on it and finally wrote a little of it. The basic premise is Harry being alone the summer before fourth year, and using the time to become an animagus. I won't say too much about his form because it would skrew up my cliffhanger in my first chapter. I will say that I intend on making it a Harry/Tonks pairing right now, but that is at least a little ways away.

My Second Story: The Ragnarok Divergence

I'm hoping that this one will write itself faster that Hemavoid. It doesn't promise to be nearly as long and it doesn't require the same level of detail in the writing as Hemavoid does to prevent mistakes. To those who have already watched Code Geass the title gives a huge hint as to what changed from canon. Basically, at a crucial point Suzaku acted a bit differently and I'm now trying to explore where I think the story would head from there. If I do a pairing it will be Lelouch/C.C. Because of the characters' personalities I'm not sure how far that relationship will develop in the story. I won't know until I've written more of it. I'm a little leery of the title so I may change it if I think of something better.

The first is a Bleach one. It was inspired by Hogyoku ex Machina. Go read that. It's one of those Super!TimeTravel! stories. But it's good. Shocking isn't it.

Wow, it's been a long time. I hope this profile update works, the inability to update really frustrated me and ended up causing me to not spend as much time on the fanfiction as I had planned. It's also been real busy in RL. Enough of that.

I'm looking at getting the next chapters out before too much longer, not that I'm a fast writer so it could still be a while. But their's progress.
