After their rather explosive encounter with her father, Maria and Georg are finally free and fully prepared to start their new life together. The two of them believe that from this moment on it will be happily ever after, but soon a revelation is made which forces Maria to see her husband in a new light. Will she ever be able to forgive him? Will their love survive? Let's see...

This is a short story I wrote in response to a request on the great Sound-of-Music-fics forum, musing on what might have happened if Maria had not returned to the Abbey...

"Fraulein, I think it's clear by now you can't help but attract my attention, and I can't help but notice you." She gave him a sad little smile. "The trouble is Captain, I don't want to be noticed by people like you." [A/U]

"Hoarders," she whispered under her breath as she scanned the barcodes of the mountain of items before her. She almost rolled her eyes – there were many things she could tolerate, but she just didn't understand hoarders. "Apparently, catering for the needs of seven children make me appear like a hoarder," he visibly rolled his eyes. Seven children? Quarantine Modern A/U!

After the rowboat tipped, everything changed between Maria and the Captain. Something strong kept pulling them together, even though they refused to fall in love.
