Freedom of Choice 16
Garrett was over the moon, he finally had a mate of his own. She was kind, beautiful, smart, and most of all his. The beast within him wanted to claim her, to have his scent within her, but tasting her blood he knew that she was pure. While the beast would love nothing more than to claim her now, the man knew that her first time shouldn't be so animalistic. After Amelia left the two gravitated towards the couch, never letting the other go. Her arousal was hitting his nose, it took a lot for him not to try and claim her right then.
She looked at him with almost fresh eyes, "Garrett, is this real?" Her eyes were full of hope and a tinge of fear.
"Oh yes my little Swan it is. I will do everything in my power to make you feel loved, cherished. Until we are fully mated, there will be times I may seem kind of like a jealous freak, I'll try my best not to be a complete psycho."
Sitting on his lap, she looked at him. "Uh,... " slowly starting to blush… "Can you explain fully mating?"
Chuckling in her ear, he could actually feel her nerves, "Well, that can only happen when two vampires bite each other during sex, it's the only way to fully seal the bond."
Bella's eyes got huge, "Oh, I… " taking a moment for her brain to catch up with her emotions.
"Relax Bella, we can take everything as slow or as fast as you want." He needed her to know that he would let her control this aspect of their relationship. Edward took so much of that away from her, he wouldn't contribute to it.
"So, if I wanted to have sex right now, you would?" she asked.
Taking an unnecessary breath, "Yes, my sweet Swan, I would. I'm going to be honest, in my 220 years walking this earth, I've never been with a human female. But with you being my mate, I'm certain we will find our rhythm so to speak." Garrett knew that this was a huge deal for her, Edward made her feel that her normal human emotions were something to be ashamed of. When the time came, he hoped that the Major would allow him to inflict some pain on the boy. Maybe even kill him. As the mate of the offended party, he could demand it.
Leaning in to kiss Garrett, she wrapped her arms around him, "Thank you. I'm grateful that you are willing to listen to me."
"Always my little Swan, always." Moving her hair to the side he licked her neck, and carefully bit her neck. "I can't wait until you're ready for me to change, you, hopefully once we are done with this newborn army, you'd be willing to let me change you."
As Bella went to answer, Garrett stiffened, carefully moving Bella off his lap, "Someone's coming, stand behind me." Taking a stance in front of Bella, Garrett waited, he could hear that it was two people running towards the house, by the sounds of the footsteps he could tell that they were small. Instinct dictated to protect his mate, but his gut told him it was someone familiar.
Standing behind Garrett, Bella closed her eyes and pulled her shield forward. It took a second but soon enough she felt it cover her body, while she knew it couldn't hold it forever, but it made her feel better knowing that she had a little protection.
Soon enough both Esme and Rose entered through the back porch, looking at the scene in front of them she could see that Garrett didn't recognize the sound of their feet. Both ladies held up their hands, Esme took the lead. "We are here to bring you back to our home, Major's orders, the army will be here the day after tomorrow."
Letting her shield down, she touched Garrett's shoulder, her heartbeat sped up.
He turned around looking at her, "It's OK, we've prepared for this." Looking over at Rose and Esme, "Get her to the house," he could feel her panic, "I'll be right behind you, I'm going to secure Edward and get him back to the Cullens." She could see her flinch at the thought.
"Wouldn't it just be easier to kill him? Just saying." she asked. She looked over at the Cullens, and could see that neither gave an indication that they cared much for what happened to their fallen member.
Rose actually snorted. "Don't worry Bella, I have a feeling that once this is settled, he will not survive long. I think we are just waiting until this shit storm is over and making sure that Carlisle doesn't run away." Her voice was cold and detached. Personally she was hoping that she would be able to inflict some pain on him as well.
Esme walked over to Bella, "Let's get you back to the house my dear, the Major will feel better once we are all together. May I pick you up?"
Bella looked at Garrett, "I'll see you soon?"
Giving her a deep kiss, "Yes my Swan, I will be there soon." He looked directly at Esme, "She is the most important thing in my life, make sure she gets there safely." Stepping back he let Esme pick up his mate.
Esme could sense that something happened between them. "You have our word." Looking at Bella, "You ready?" Once Bella nodded. Rose and Esme took off towards their home.
Garrett made his way down towards the cellar, as he entered, he looked at a dejected Edward. Keeping his mind focused on the American Revolution, he quickly grabbed him, and made his way towards the Cullens basement. He wouldn't let Edward know that Bella was his mate, one thing that he's learned in his long life, someone so close to losing their prize could do desperate things. It didn't take that long for him to reach the Cullens home, he could hear the talking, Carlisle was asking to see his son, the Major wasn't having any of it, even Esme told him that wasn't going to happen until after the battle. Hearing how pathetic he sounded, "Well Boy, at least one person actually cares about you, too bad he's the only one." With that he put him in the cage that the Major set up for him when he was first put down here. Once he was secured he left Edward to his thoughts.
Edward gave up, long after he was dismembered, he knew he lost, he was waiting for his death. Looking up after Garrett left, his only regret was never truly tasting her blood.
Amelia was on edge, she watched Jasper bark orders, and get things setup, as soon as everyone was back in the Cullen home, he gave everyone tasks. Currently they were waiting for a couple wolves to show up, it was time to start setting up the blood trail for the newborns to follow. Currently she was sitting with Bella in Carlisle office while he drew a pint of blood. Since the good doctor has proven time and time again he was not was not capable of leading or making good decisions when it came to the wonder twins, Amelia would not allow him to be alone with Bella.
Watching carefully as he finished up, she could see that he was nervous about something. "Everything OK doctor?"
Carlisle bristled. "No, I lost a child today, and I can't see the other. Soon enough I will be fighting in a war that I don't condone."
Grabbing the blood from his hands, "You don't have the right to look done on anything. You are the reason for all this, you listened to them instead of your own wife, a trained war veteran. I can almost respect living in peace, that's a great dream, but you know from living with the Volturi that vampires are instinctual, you can try to hide what you are, you even to pretend to be human, but that's a lie that you've told yourself, and your family." Stepping into his space, "But let me make this clear to you, if you think about double crossing us, you think that you'll get back at us by calling Aro, let me make it painfully clear, Aro is not going to protect you, the only option you have now, is to give him Edward for him to even consider taking you." She could see that he was caught. "You rat bastard, that was it wasn't it? You were going to double cross us?" She didn't know where anyone in the house was. Slamming him down on the ground, she used her gift to blow the door open.
Bella gasped. How could someone that she considered family be so callous. Instead of wondering why she wasn't good enough, instead Bella called out for the one person that would get the information. "JASPER!"
Within moments Jasper and everyone else crowded the room. He surveyed the scene in front of him. Feeling the rage and anger coming from Amelia he knew something happened. Trying to get context as Carlisle office was sound proofed. "Amelia, what happened?"
Not wanting to lose control of herself because she was furious, she let him go, she kept the windows blocked with her power, in case he thought he would be able to escape. "He was going to double cross us, either with something with the fight or with the Volturi."
Bella inched closer to Garrett, he quickly wrapped her in his arms. "I have you my sweet Swan." Holding her close to him, he turned his eyes towards Carlisle. His murderous glare made the older vampire cringe. Without taking his eyes off him, he spoke directly to the Major. "Kill him."
Carlisle gasped. "You wouldn't dare, I'm a personal friend of Aro, and my wife wouldn't allow it." He tried so hard to sound like he was important.
Amelia couldn't believe what she heard. Looking over at Peter, she nodded.
Peter walked up towards Carlisle, "You self important prick. I have some news for you, I already contacted Aro, as soon as we realized how useless you were as a leader, I called him, I was granted permission to take control of Bella's change, his only request was to spare Edward. You on the other hand, he didn't really care what happened to you."
Carlisle stared blankly at Peter. "He wouldn't take a mate away from another."
Peter laughed, pulling out his phone, "Hold on," as the phone rang, everyone around him was silent watching in earnest. After 3 rings, a deep monotone voice answered.
Phone Conversation (On speaker):
"Hello"
"Marcus, Peter Whitlock, how are you sir?"
"Good evening Mr. Whitlock, I'm fine, as I can be. May I inquire about the reason for your call?"
"Yes sir, I was wondering, is Carlisle mated to Esme?"
"Ah, I'm assuming that he has lived out his usefulness?"
"Yes sir. If he is truly mated to her, I don't want her to suffer because her mate is a useless excuse for a male."
A deep resonating laugh echoed in the room. "Ah I've never had the pleasure of meeting his wife, but no they are not mates, companions. Perhaps now, she could come to Volterra, I could read her relationship lines and see if I've come across her mate."
Esme actually gasped, her hand covering her mouth. "I KNEW IT!"
Everyone looked at Carlisle, he knew that he wasn't going to get out of this.
"Thank you sir. Please let Aro know that as always the Whitlocks do what we can to follow the laws, as gratitude for the King's understanding in letting us take over Bella's change into vampirism, we offer Edward Cullen. Amelia had her fun."
Chuckling, "The Volturi are grateful for your loyalty. We look forward to making arrangements for Edward. I must go Captain Whitlock, we have criminals to see, I will inform Aro of our conversation."
"Of course sir. I will be in contact soon."
End Conversation.
Peter put his phone away, he looked at the rest of the room. "Major, you're the rightful leader of the Whitlock coven, the choice of what happens to this useless slug is between you and Esme, the other offended party."
Jasper looked over at Esme, "Esme Cullen, I recommend death. What are your thoughts on the matter?"
Esme looked down at her former husband, he was cowering like the dog he was, stepping towards him. She could see it in his eyes that he was thinking that she was going to spare him. "Kill him."
"ESME PLEASE! I AM YOUR HUSBAND." he cried as Peter dragged him out to the back yard.
With everyone following the scene, Esme was the one who spoke. Her voice deadly calm, "You've lied to me for decades, and for what? You may be my husband, but in a few moments I'll just be a widow." Taking a step back as Garrett and Peter held his arms, "Oh, know this, I will personally deliver Edward to Aro."
Amelia held onto Jasper, Bella was standing next to her, they watched as he was torn apart.
The sound of grinding metal made Bella flinch, but she stayed steady. This was her life, and she was not going to make the mistake that Carlilse did, she would accept all her traits as a vampire. In mere moments he was nothing but purple smoke.
Jasper turned to the remaining Cullens. "It is time to embrace who you are, do not hide under the guise that you are human, because no matter how much you want to be," he said looking at Rose, "you'll never be."
Taking his mate's hand, he turned towards the forest, as did the rest of the vampires, Amelia felt him tense up, "Wolves or newborns?" she asked him.
"Wolves." Keeping his eyes on the treeline he could hear them approaching. It took a few moments for Sam and a few others to emerge dressed.
Sam took a deep breath, he could smell burnt vampire. Pointing towards the fire, "Who was it?" he asked.
Speaking for everyone, Jasper took command of the 8 members behind him. "Carlisle, it was found he was going to attempt to betray us, we eliminated the threat."
Sam understood, he would do the same thing if he found out that any of his wolves would betray the pack. Looking over at them all, he could tell that this was not the same Cullens as before. "What is the plan now, Major?"
"We have some of Bella's blood, we would like a wolf to spread it across the areas leading towards the field." Looking over at Garrett, "I also need one wolf to carry her up the mountains tonight, to cover her scent. Amelia will be joining her. The wolf would also need to stay behind to keep her scent hidden."
Sam looked over at Bella, "I will send Seth with you. He will help cover your scents." Turning to the younger pack member, "You will do what is asked of you." Looking over at his sister, "Leah, you will provide Bella with your old clothes so that her scent can be masked further. Go now, bring them here quickly."
A light gray wolf bolted from the yard, making her way towards the Rez.
Looking back at Jasper, "Will that work Major?"
Going through the scenarios in his head, logically and strategically, these were the best options. "Captain, does your knower have issues with this plan?"
"No Major." he stated.
Jacob watched as Bella clinged to the dark haired vampire. With longing he stared at her. While the boy would always love her, the wolf knew that she was mated. Hanging his head, he realized this fight would be the last time that he would ever be able to protect her. In an actual moment of true reflection, Jacob decided that the only way to honor their past friendship was to let her go.
The Major looked over at everyone in the yard, "Tomorrow, we will fight, tomorrow we will end this madness Victoria has brought to our home. There will be no prisoners, all are to be destroyed." Staring at the wolves, "Go back to the Rez, have Seth here by 9pm, and you get what rest you can, because you are to be at the field in the treeline behind the creek before the sunrises."
Sam nodded. "We will see you tomorrow," looking at Seth, "Be here as the Major instructed. Paul, take Bella's blood and spread it from the lake to the field." Turning towards the Whitlocks, "We will be ready." With that the wolves melted into the forest.
Jasper looked at his family, and friends. "Emmett, Rose, please go to the top of the cliffs and set everything up for Amelia and Bella. Hunt on your way back. Esme, Char, run the perimeter, Esme hunt as well. Peter, go with your mate. Garrett, Bella, you have until 9pm, do with that time what you will."
Everyone dispersed leaving only Amelia looking at her mate.
He zipped over to her, and carried her to the room where she gave him her blood. He was going to spend time with his mate before she headed up the mountain.
For the next several hours, they made love. Both hoping that it would not be the last time they embraced.
