This chapter will deal with the aftermath of Loki's invasion and the introduction of the Avengers as the world has been changed forever. This will introduce Spencer Smythe as the creator of the Spider-Slayers and as well as the introduction of the mysterious Master Planner as they serve as the villains of this chapter. Iron Man and Madame Web will make an appearance in this chapter, Spider-Man will receive a new gift from Iron Man.
The date is August 10th, 2022, it's been approximately one year since Peter got bitten by the spider that gave him spider powers that made him into Spider-Man. Peter has turned sixteen years old and is soon to be a junior at his school.
Spider-Man is swinging around New York City in his new upgraded suit made possible thanks to Stark Tech. He swings by Stark Tower that is being renovating into something new.
"Hello Everyone, it's me, Peter Parker, your friendly neighborhood... well, you know. It's the anniversary of my birth as both Peter Parker and the day I've got bitten by that spider that made me into Spider-Man. A lot has changed since last year, me introducing myself to the world as a hero. Since that day, a number of heroes and villains rose up, things started to change forever. But after last month when me and the Avengers saved the world from Loki, things were never the same again, the world is about to face new challenges and it'll need more heroes to protect it." Spider-Man is narrating his story.
Spider-Man arrived at Central Park to the site where the Frost Giant invasion started, it has become the site of the memorial where a number of lives were lost that day. On the memorial are the names of the victims who died, he could see flowers and mementos laying there.
"If only we acted earlier and came together as team, the Avengers could've saved the lives and prevented all this suffering. Most of New York City are still recovering from that day and managed to get back to their lives. But there are those who blamed us for bringing war to this city, perhaps they were right. But we can't change what's been done as much as we want to. The only thing we can do is keep going and fighting for the living. We never know when and where the next danger is coming." Spider-Man narrates his story.
Spider-Man paid his respects to the fallen who lost their lives during the invasion.
Spider-Man's phone rang as he picked it up, it's May calling him.
"Hey Aunt May, is something wrong?" Spider-Man is curious.
"Peter. I need you home right now! This can't wait, please hurry." May hangs up.
"Aunt May? Aunt May?!" Spider-Man is getting worried.
Spider-Man then runs out of the park and starts heading back home towards Queens as he's getting worried about that phone call from May. He swings through the city at high speed. Unknown to Spider-Man, there was a mini drone hovering in the air watching him.
Meanwhile in a warehouse in the Bronx, the screen is showing Spider-Man swinging around the city, most likely from the drone.
A man in his mid 50's is working on a big robot that stands at 7 feet tall with advanced weaponry equipped. He also has small versions of robots also armed with weapons.
The screen started to change from surveillance to a transmission from an mysterious individual in a silhouette.
"Master Planner, I wasn't expecting you to call so soon." Spencer Smythe stopped working.
"Forgive my interruption, Mr. Smythe. I was wondering if the spider-slayers are ready for combat." Master Planner says to Spencer Smythe.
"Of course, I've already finished with the modifications to each of them. With the drones watching Spider-Man's movements for the past few weeks, they're programmed to anticipate his moves and I've installed countermeasures against each of them." Spencer Smythe says to Master Planner.
"Excellent, I knew that I made the right choice in providing you with the tools needed to build your robots." Master Planner says to Spencer Smythe.
"Just out of curiosity, what did Spider-Man do to you for you to want to kill him so badly?" Spencer Smythe is curious about Master Planner's motives.
"Like you Mr. Smythe, I was also victimized by his actions and it changed my life forever. I had everything until one day, It was all taken away from me. Something that I'm sure you know all too well." Master Planner explained his motive.
"My wife is dead because of him and this team of heroes, what's worse is that my son is comatose and paralyzed from the waist down. I want him to suffer the same way I've suffered." Spencer Smythe says with hate in his voice.
"You'll get your chance soon enough. Tonight, the Stark Expo will be performing in Flushing, Queen, with Tony Stark personally hosting it. You wanted a send a statement, then the Stark Expo will be just the place, and I'm sure that Spider-Man will be there." Master Planner says to Spencer Smythe.
"Finally, after weeks of time and patience, I'll finally get to avenge my wife and son by striking back at the heroes responsible for bringing war to the city." Spencer Smythe wants revenge on the heroes, particularly Spider-Man.
Sometime as the sun is starting to set as Spider-Man made it to Forest Hills, he found a place nearby to change into his regular clothes.
He ran out of the bushes and speeds toward his home to see the door is partially closed.
"The door is unlocked, it's not like May to be careless." Peter says in his thoughts.
Peter is approaching his house to find out what the fuss is all about, he quietly opens the door to find the place is all dark and very quiet.
"Aunt May!" Peter is calling out.
The lights quickly turned on as Peter got surprised by May along with his girlfriend Gwen Stacy, his best friends Mary Jane and Harry, and his classmates Flash and Betty.
"Surprise!!!" The group said together all smiling.
"What the..." Peter smiled as he's surprised.
"Happy birthday, Peter." May says to Peter.
"Oh... I should've figured that this was all a trick to bring me here." Peter smiled at May.
"Yeah, you should've seen the look on your face, Parker." Flash smiled as he teased.
"Thanks for coming, Flash." Peter says to Flash.
"Sure thing." Flash smiled at Peter.
Peter turns his attention to Betty Brant. "Hey Betty, thank you for coming."
Betty hugged Peter. "Happy birthday Pete."
Peter and Betty stopped hugging as he turns to Harry Osborn.
"Hey Buddy." Peter says to Harry.
"Happy Birthday, bro. Glad that I'm not away in Europe like last year." Harry says to Peter.
Mary Jane hugged Peter. "Happy birthday Tiger."
"Come on Mary Jane, stop hugging my boyfriend too much." Gwen smiled at Mary Jane.
"You're lucky to have such a cute boyfriend, Gwendolyne Stacy. Can't help but notice how handsome he is, it's hard to let go." Mary Jane still hugging Peter.
"Hey... you're making me jealous, MJ." Harry smiled at Mary Jane.
"Sorry, I forgot that I still have a boyfriend of my own." Mary Jane stopped hugging and let's Peter go.
Mary Jane walked back to join her boyfriend Harry as Gwen walks to her own boyfriend. Gwen looked beautiful in his eyes as she tossed her arms around his neck and brings him closer to her.
"Happy birthday Peter." Gwen leaned in and kisses Peter.
May came by with a cake that she baked as she sees Peter kissing Gwen, she smiled as Peter is lucky to have a great girlfriend like Gwen Stacy. Peter and Gwen stopped kissing as they are May with the birthday cake.
"Well Peter, anything to say?" May smiled at Peter.
"I want to say that it's great to have all you here, I got an aunt who is like a mother to me, I have great friends, and I'm very lucky to have wonderful girlfriend in my arms. I love you Gwen Stacy." Peter has his arm around Gwen.
"And I love you too, Peter Parker." Gwen kisses Peter again.
May came by with a cake with candles lit as Peter and Gwen stopped kissing.
"Make a wish, Peter." May holding the birthday cake.
Peter closes his eyes and blows out the candles, everyone in the room clapped their hands together.
"What did you wish for, Pete?" Harry is curious.
"Harry! You know that Peter can't jinx it, or it'll never come true." Mary Jane says to her boyfriend.
"Sorry." Harry smiled to Mary Jane.
Peter had one big wish, and he already has it, he looked at Gwen Stacy who had been his best friend for years until last year he began developing feelings for her. Peter had some obstacles along the way, him dating Liz Allan back then, his adventures as Spider-Man, not to mention his shyness when it came to confessing his love for Gwen. Gwen is incredibly intelligent like himself and very beautiful in his eyes like Mary Jane, she's the perfect girl and the love of his life.
(Later)
Couple hours later after everyone had the birthday cake and gave Peter their gifts, Peter is alone in his bedroom looking at a photo of himself from his 15th birthday last year, he was normal back then before he got his powers, he's standing with Gwen and Mary Jane, along with Aunt May and Uncle Ben who died days later.
May came by to check up on her nephew who is all dressed and has V.I.P. passes for himself and Gwen for the Stark Expo.
"Peter, Gwen is waiting downstairs for you." May came into the room.
Peter continues to look at the photo from his 15th birthday, May noticed the picture with herself and her deceased husband, they were all happy that day.
"To think that it has been a year since my last birthday, back when Ben was still alive." Peter says to May.
"Yeah, it hasn't been easy living without him. But I know that if he were alive right now, he'd be very proud of you, proud of the man you've become." May smiled at Peter.
"I miss him." Peter smiled at May.
"Me too, everyday. But we have each other to keep on going. You on the other hand, have a special lady waiting downstairs for you." May says to Peter.
"Oh right! I should get going." Peter got up and grabbed the passes and the camera.
Peter kissed May on the cheek before he left his bedroom to walk downstairs to find Gwen Stacy all dressed for the expo.
"Gwen, you're absolutely stunning." Peter liked Gwen's look.
"Thank you for the compliment and for asking me to be your date. How did you get V.I.P. passes for the expo?" Gwen is curious.
"Oh... it's was a favor since I've saved Tony's life last year. He gave me theses passes for us." Peter made up an excuse.
"I see. So shall we get going?" Gwen says to Peter.
"Ladies first." Peter walks out with Gwen.
May watched and smiled as her nephew is an extraordinary person who made a big difference in everyone's lives as Spider-Man.
Back in the hidden workshop in the Bronx, Spencer Smythe is watching live news about the Stark Expo that is happening tonight.
"This will be the first time that Tony Stark will be hosting this year's expo since he was unavailable last year. But this year is sure to be different thanks to the company mascot Iron Man who teamed up with the Avengers to save the world from last month's event. As you can see, everyone here is happy that there are heroes out there fighting to defend us and this world."
Spencer Smythe is mad as the people at the expo are very supportive of the heroes who saved the entire world.
"You're all fools who believe these vigilantes are heroes. But you'll soon see the consequences of their actions as I'm about to unleash hell on Iron Man, Spider-Man, and all those so called heroes you all love." Spencer Smythe speaks with anger.
Spencer Smythe types into the computer and activates the spider-slayers, each of them is powering up.
It's nighttime in Flushing Meadows as the Stark Expo is the main attraction for everyone. Peter and Gwen both have their V.I.P. passes as security let them through as there is a bigger crowd waiting to get into the expo.
Peter and Gwen walked around to see booths where a lot of scientists and inventors are showing off their work just like last year's expo, but what caught their attention is everyone wearing superhero merchandise like t shirts and hats. Peter took pictures of the expo with his trusty camera.
"Looks like heroes are on everyone's mind these days." Peter says to Gwen.
"After what happened in the past year alone, can you blame them." Gwen says to Peter.
They walk to the auditorium as everyone is eager to see Tony Stark, but it's mostly Iron Man they got their minds on. Peter and Gwen joined the crowd as the screens are lighting up and everyone watches the show.
"In the past year, the world has gone through a change, first with Spider-Man, then Iron Man, and pretty soon every hero started showing up."
They see images of Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Captain Marvel on the screens showing off their heroic deeds they've done in the past year alone.
"Thanks to these brave heroes, our world has been changed forever. And now to introduce the man who organized the Expo, please welcome the CEO of Stark Industries, the Futurist, Mr. Tony Stark!"
Tony Stark came out to the stage wearing his sunglasses as everyone applauded for him, Tony waves to the crowd as everyone is happy to see him attend this year's expo in person.
"Oh, it's good to be back. I'm glad to see everyone here. Times have certainly changed since last month, the whole world watched as New York City was under attack by an extraterrestrial threat from another realm, everyone watched on the news as New York was freezing, Loki threatens to freeze the entire world as everyone in it was worried. In those dark hours, everyone was about to face the end of the world until a team of a brave few rose up and fought to take back our world. These heroes called themselves the Avengers, Earth's Mightiest Heroes. They taught us to hold onto hope in our darkest hour, they fought for us, they protected us, we should all be thankful to have heroes in our world. But for now, let's give a warm welcome to the Invincible Iron Man!" Tony Stark says to the audience.
Peter and Gwen looked up in the air as music is being played, it's the 'Shoot to Thrill'. Everyone sees something in the sky flying down towards the stage, something red and golden. They see Iron Man coming down for a landing as everyone cheered at the sight of one of the Avengers, Peter is surprised that Iron Man and Tony Stark are both here at the same time since he already knows that Tony is Iron Man.
"Now if you'll excuse me! I'll leave you in Iron Man's capable hands." Tony says to the audience.
Tony is walking out of the stage as Iron Man is waving his hand to the audience as they're happy to see Iron Man here in person. Tony walked down to see Peter in the company of a pretty blonde. He walks up to them to meet them, Gwen couldn't believe that it's Tony Stark in the flesh.
"Hey kid, it's been a while." Tony says to Peter.
"Likewise, Tony." Peter says to Tony.
Tony turned his attention to the pretty blonde girl with Peter.
"Aren't you going to introduce us?" Tony says to Peter.
"Right, this is Gwen Stacy, my girlfriend. Gwen, this is Tony Stark." Peter introduced Gwen and Tony to each other.
"Nice to meet you, Gwen." Tony says to Gwen.
"Of course, it's such an honor to meet Tony Stark in person." Gwen says to Tony.
"Anything for the girlfriend of Peter Parker, you're quite lucky to have such a handsome guy at your side." Tony says to Gwen.
"Oh, don't I know it." Gwen smiled looking at Peter.
"Now if you don't mind me borrowing Peter to talk for a while, if that's okay with you?" Tony says to Gwen.
"Oh... of course. I'm going to look around the expo at some booths. By the way, thanks for the passes." Gwen says to Tony.
"Sure thing." Tony says to Gwen.
"See you later, Peter." Gwen kissed Peter on the lips.
She walked away to explore the expo alone leaving Peter and Tony to talk about certain things away from any ears. Tony could see that Peter is still looking at Gwen walking away.
"Hey Romeo, back on Earth." Tony getting Peter's attention.
"Sorry... so what now?" Peter says to Tony.
"Have you ever tried Shawarma before?" Tony has a suggestion.
"What's shawarma?" Peter is curious about Shawarma.
(Later)
At a shawarma joint at the expo as Peter and Tony are sitting together having shawarma while having a chat about their hero lives. Peter is eating his shawarma as he's amazed by the taste of this exquisite dish.
"Like it?" Tony says to Peter.
Peter chew his bite. "They're heaven."
"Thought so, I found this shawarma joint sometime after the invasion and I just had to try it, even though I've never had any before." Tony says to Peter.
"Tell me where it is and maybe I'll stop by for some. By the way, how did you control the armor without you in it?" Peter is curious.
"Oh, because of these." Tony shows off his sunglasses. "I can remote control the armor using theses glasses, clever way to have me and Iron Man in the same place."
"That's impressive." Peter says to Tony.
"I almost forgot, happy birthday kid. How'd you like the upgrades made to your Spider-Cave?" Tony says to Peter.
"It's awesome, thanks to your tech, I've made a upgraded suit equipped with advanced webshooters and a spider drone attached to the suit." Peter says to Tony.
"If you think that's great, then you should check out the gift I've left for you at the Spider-Cave, it'll blow your mind. Took me almost a year to finish it, you're gonna love it." Tony says to Peter.
"Can't wait. By the way, have you heard from the other Avengers?" Peter is curious about his teammates.
"Well, Cap is still working with S.H.I.E.L.D. combating HYDRA, Bruce is with Betty on an island vacation, Carol is settled into her new home in Boston, Thor is with Dr. Foster in another country doing her work for Doctors Without Borders. Things have surely change a lot since last month, the world almost coming to an end and heroes rising up to save it. We were barely lucky to survive the end with very few heroes, next time we might not be so lucky." Tony says to Peter.
"People are still shocked that Loki tried to turned the world into one giant snow globe, some are still mourning their losses, a lot of good people died that day. Sometimes I wonder if what we do as heroes is ever enough." Peter says to Tony.
"I know kid, everyone wishes for things to go back to the way it was before heroes started showing up. But there is no going back, times have changed, and we all need to adapt to that change. The only thing we can do right now is move forward and be the heroes the world needs." Tony says to Peter.
Peter felt better after a talk with Tony about recent events that happened since last month, the Avengers showing themselves to the world and all the changes that happened afterwards, nothing will be the same ever again.
Meanwhile elsewhere in the Expo, Gwen Stacy is all alone exploring all the booths where everyone shows off their work to the public.
Gwen continues to walk around until she spotted a booth with someone she's familiar with, she's at the booth of Dr. Jonathan Drew where he shows off his work on the super spiders, the very same spider that bit Peter last year which she didn't know at the time.
"Dr. Jonathan Drew." Gwen says to Jonathan Drew.
"Do I know you, young lady?" Jonathan Drew says to Gwen.
"We've met at last year's expo, I was with a boy with glasses, do you remember?" Gwen gave a hint.
"Oh, of course, how could I forget. That day I lost one of the fifteen spiders." Jonathan Drew remembers now
"I see that you still have these spiders to show off." Gwen is looking at the spiders.
"Not to worry, I've came prepared as you can see. All fourteen spiders are accounted for, I don't plan to misplace any of them ever again." Jonathan Drew says to Gwen.
Gwen pulled out her smartphone as she took a picture of the terrarium housing the super spiders. She then noticed a formula next to the terrarium, she took that photo too.
Gwen then hears a noise coming far in the air as did everyone as they a wave of something flying towards the expo.
Peter's spider sense is tingling as he sensed danger is nearby, Tony got an alert on his earpiece from JARVIS.
"Talk to me JARVIS." Tony asking JARVIS.
"Sir, a wave of machines are flying towards the expo, not one of ours." JARVIS informs Tony.
"I should suit up." Peter says to Tony,
"Yeah, me too." Tony says to Peter.
Peter and Tony both walked away from everyone as they're preparing for battle against something. Peter found a place nearby to change out of his clothes as he's already wearing his suit underneath.
Tony rang back to the stage to get his armor as he summons the armor to walk behind the stage as to not let anyone see him as Iron Man. The armor opens up as Tony Stark enters it and becomes Iron Man.
The crowd including Gwen sees mechanical beings landing on the ground as they're armed with weapons, but they see the big one landing down.
(Bronx)
Spencer Smythe is controlling the Spider-Slayers from his hidden workshop as he watched the screens of everyone wearing hero merchandise and being supportive of heroes.
He didn't like what he's seeing, everyone being happy with their lives while his has been destroyed by the heroes. He types in the words 'engage'.
(Flushing Meadows)
The Spider-Slayer fired off a volley of missiles all around the expo, destroying everything and injuring innocent people, the whole crowd started to panic and run away from the scene.
Gwen is running too as she got bumped hard by the panicking crowd and crashed against the terrarium hard, she's on the ground as one of the drones came up to her, aiming its weapons at her, willing to kill. Gwen is terrified as her life is in danger, but Spider-Man came in for a drop kick and dropped the drone down hard.
Gwen is relieved that Spider-Man came to her rescue, Spider-Man helps her up on the ground and checks if she's hurt.
"Are you okay?" Spider-Man asking Gwen about her condition.
"I'm fine, thank you." Gwen smiled in relief.
Couple of drones are watching Spider-Man with Gwen Stacy.
(Bronx)
Spencer Smythe is watching as Spider-Man is there in person.
"At last, my moment of vengeance is upon me." Spencer Smythe says to himself.
He types in the command phrases as every drone in the expo is programmed to strike at Spider-Man.
(Flushing Meadows)
All the drones including the big Spider-Slayer are receiving their new orders, every drone is to attack and terminate Spider-Man on sight.
Spider-Man is relieved that his girlfriend is saved but his spider sense is tingling as he turns around to see more drones coming towards them.
"Oh no, they're coming. I need to get you to safety." Spider-Man picked up Gwen in his arms.
Spider-Man is carrying Gwen as he's running away but the drones are flying up in the air. Gwen forgot her purse that got left behind at the booth near the super spiders.
"Spider-Man, they're still coming." Gwen says to Spider-Man.
"What do these things want with me?" Spider-Man is confused.
The drones are coming closer until some of them are blasted and destroyed by a repulsor blast, Spider-Man stopped and turned to see Iron Man joining the fight.
"Glad you've made it in time." Spider-Man says to Iron Man.
"Of course, no one attacks the expo and gets away with it." Iron Man hovering in the air.
They see the big one coming along with his other friends, Spider-Man puts Gwen down as he needs to fight this battle too.
"You should get to safety." Spider-Man tells Gwen to go.
Gwen leaves as Spider-Man and Iron Man are about to face off against the Spider-Slayers.
(Bronx)
Spencer Smythe watches the screens to see Spider-Man with Iron Man, another Avenger.
"Two Avengers, even better." Spencer Smythe says to himself.
(Flushing Meadows)
The Spider-Slayers started firing their weapons at the two Avengers, Spider-Man did some backflips to avoid the incoming fire as Iron Man's armor protects him, he fires some repulsor beams at a couple of drones, destroying them.
Several drones came at Spider-Man as he jumps and does the scissors kick and knocked off their heads, but one is still left as it fires off its weapons. Spider-Man kept dodging until he unleashed a spider drone from his suit to help him. The drone is flying to the spider-slayer as it fires off tasers, short circuiting the slayer. Spider-Man counters with a flying knee to the head, disabling it. The spider drone flies back to the suit.
"Thanks Spidey-Drone." Spider-Man says to the spider drone.
About five of the slayers are left as Iron Man unleashed a wave of missiles at them, blowing them up instantly.
"There, that takes care of the little ones." Iron Man says to Spider-Man.
But their celebration got cut short as the biggest spider-slayer is left standing.
"Except the big one." Spider-Man says to Iron Man.
"This thing seems to be interested in you. Any ideas on who sent it?" Iron Man says to Spider-Man.
"Honestly, I'm just as confused as you are." Spider-Man says to Iron Man.
The spider slayer attack both Iron Man and Spider-Man with its four metal arms as it packed quite the punch and knocked Iron Man back hard. Spider-Man fires off some webbing but the slayer has a flamethrower that counters the webs by burning them before they reached it.
"What the..." Spider-Man is surprised.
"I've anticipated your moves, Spider-Man. I've come prepared for this moment." Spider-Slayer speaks to Spider-Man.
"It speaks. Who are you?" Spider-Man asking the question.
"Someone who is very eager to see you dead. Prepare to die, Spider-Man." Spider-Slayer speaks.
"Not today." Iron Man unleashed a strong unibeam.
The unibeam blasted the slayer hard as it caused damage to its systems, Spider-Man and Iron Man both see it damaged and vulnerable.
"Let's see who sent it." Iron Man is standing strong.
The slayer unleashed a volley of missiles all around them as they're blinded by the blast, the slayer is flying away from the expo and starts to turn invisible as it flies away. Spider-Man and Iron Man can see the clearing but the Spider-Slayer is long gone.
"It's gone." Iron Man says to Spider-Man.
"For now." Spider-Man has a feeling this isn't over.
Sometime later, the expo has ended earlier thanks to the attack made by the spider-slayers. A number of police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances are at the scene as paramedics are tending to the injured.
Peter is all dressed in his regular clothes as he looks around to find a lot of innocent people hurt by theses robots, he's lucky that none of them got killed despite the drone's attempts to try. He got pictures of the event just in case the Bugle needs these photos. But right now, he's more worried about Gwen who is still missing.
Gwen went back to the booth where she lost her purse and found it next to the broken terrarium to see most of the spiders are still inside. There's only thirteen spiders inside as one of them is missing,
"Gwen!!!" Peter is still looking for Gwen.
"Peter!!!" Gwen waves to Peter.
Peter ran up to her and hugs her tightly as he's relieved that she's safe and alright.
"Thank god that you're alright." Peter was worried for Gwen.
"Hey, I'm okay Pete, really." Gwen is still being hugged.
"Sorry, got carried away." Peter stopped hugging Gwen.
"So much for your birthday." Gwen looked around the expo.
An unmarked sedan came to the scene, Captain George Stacy came out in a rush and ran towards Gwen.
"Gwennie!" George Stacy is all worried.
"Dad." Gwen says to George.
George hugged his daughter tightly after hearing the danger happening at the expo.
"I came as soon as I heard. Thank god that you're alright." George is still hugging his daughter.
"You're the second person to tell me that same sentence." Gwen is still being hugged.
"Sorry, being a parent means I always worry." George stopped hugging his daughter.
"Don't worry Mr. Stacy, we're both fine here. Spider-Man and Iron Man were able to stop the attack before it got any worse." Peter assured George Stacy.
"That's good to know, did any of you see what happened here?" George Stacy wants to know about this incident.
"They came in flying and with no warning, started attacking everyone, but it seemed like they're more interested in Spider-Man." Peter explained about the incident.
"But why? What's the purpose of all this?" George Stacy is curious.
"I don't know, but I have a feeling that none of this is over. Something tells me that thing will be back for Spider-Man." Peter suspects this is only the beginning.
"Okay, that's all I need to hear. I'll take you both home, okay?" George Stacy says to Peter and Gwen.
"Sure, it's been a long night. Shall we?" Gwen says to Peter.
"Yeah, let's go home." Peter walks with Gwen.
Peter and Gwen are leaving the expo with George as they see all the destruction done to the place. Unknown to Gwen, one of the spiders from the broken terrarium is on her purse as it climbs inside it to hide.
Sometime later, George drives the sedan back to Forest Hills with Peter and Gwen. As the car drives out of Flushing Meadows, a red haired woman in a coat watched the car drive away, it's Madame Web watching.
"And so it begins, Gwendolyne Stacy." Madame Web says to herself.
Back in the Bronx, Spencer Smythe is repairing his only Spider-Slayer that suffer serious damage from Iron Man's unibeam. The screen rang as Spencer stopped working and accepted the call, it's Master Planner still hiding his identity with a silhouette.
"Master Planner, I take it that you've saw the news?" Spencer Smythe says to Master Planner.
"I admire your taste in destruction at the expo, though disappointed that your Spider-Slayers couldn't handle two heroes." Master Planner says to Spencer Smythe.
"The Spider-Slayers were built specifically to combat Spider-Man, the arrival of Iron Man was unanticipated. But all the destruction wasn't for nothing, all those people who enjoyed worshiping these so called heroes have suffered just as I've suffered, and this is only the beginning. I'll still send the Spider-Slayer to attack Spider-Man again, and I might know where to strike next." Spencer Smythe doesn't regret his actions.
"I hope so, for your sake. I need Spider-Man off the board for my next move in taking over this city." Master Planner says to Spencer Smythe.
"Couldn't care about your power trip, I just want Spider-Man dead for all the pain he's caused me, in full." Spencer Smythe says with hatred.
At the Parker Residence, May is watching the news about the attack at the Stark Expo that happened this night.
"As you can see, a number of people have been injured by these unknown automatons that are responsible for the destruction in Flushing Meadows where the Stark Expo was happening. Fortunately Spider-Man and Iron Man were able to stop these robots from harming anymore lives."
Peter came into the house to find May in the living room watching the news.
"May!" Peter gets his aunt's attention.
"Oh Peter, I've just heard on the news. This was just terrible, so many innocent lives hurt." May says to Peter.
"I know, whoever sent them wasn't worried who get caught in the crossfire. I think that they were there for me." Peter says to May.
"But why? Why would anyone want to hurt you?" May is worried for Peter,
"All good questions, tomorrow I'll go and find out who's behind all this. They came after me once, they'll do it again." Peter says to May.
"I'm just glad that you and Gwen are both fine." May is relieved for Peter and Gwen.
"Oh, speaking of which. I should give her a call to see how she's holding up." Peter picked up his phone and dialed Gwen.
(Stacy Residence)
Gwen is in her bedroom and changed into her t shirt to sleep in as she's feeling tired from the night at the expo. She then heard her phone ringing inside her purse.
"Who could be calling me at this hour?" Gwen is curious.
Gwen walked over to her purse to pull out her phone but instead felt a bite on her hand.
"Oww!!" Gwen felt the pain in her hand.
She hits the purse to kill off whatever bit her hand.
(Parker Residence)
Peter is still holding the phone to his ear awaiting Gwen to call him back.
"Nothing, gone straight to voicemail." Peter hangs up the phone.
"She's probably sleepy from the night, like we all are. Why not call her again tomorrow?" May suggested to Peter.
"Yeah, you're right. It's getting late, I'll need plenty of rest for tomorrow if I'm going to be more focused on finding this robot. Good night, Aunt May." Peter walks back to his room.
"Good night, Peter." May says to Peter.
(Stacy Residence)
Gwen pulled out her hand to find a spider like the ones from the expo, it's now dead thanks to her.
"A spider?" Gwen is surprised.
Gwen then felt something strange happening to herself as she's feeling a bit dizzy from the spider bite, she's having trouble standing as she falls back onto the bed and starts to sleep it off. As she's sleeping, she can feel the effects of the venom from the super spider doing it's work on her body. She twist and turn as she felt like her body is on fire and every muscles and bones started to ache, her whole body is going through a change.
The next morning at the Stacy Residence, Gwen is still in her bed until she awakes and finds out that it's morning. Gwen felt strange from the hard sleeping she did last night, she gets up to stretch herself, she heard the door knock.
"Gwennie! Breakfast is ready!" George is outside the door.
"I'll be right there! Just need to get cleaned up!" Gwen says to her dad.
Gwen noticed that her shirt is giving off an odor from all the sweating she's been doing during her sleep.
Later in the bathroom, Gwen was taking a shower to clean herself of all the sweat as she didn't get the chance to do yesterday since she fell asleep instantly after the spider bite.
She finished her shower and shuts off the water, she then uses the towel to dry herself off. She tries to wrap the towel around her body but she's having trouble doing so as the towel is stuck to her hand. She does her best to remove it from her hand and she pulled it hard and it lets go.
Gwen is confused as to why her towel was stuck on her hand but she worries about it later as she puts on her bra and panties, she then looks herself in the mirror. Gwen is shocked to find out what had happened to her body, she looked like a fitness model, she still maintained her lean figure but with a bit of muscle, she is surprised that she developed a toned stomach.
She checks the muscle tone on her arm and is shocked to find out that her muscle is hard, she's confused as to why her whole body is changed since last night.
"What the..." Gwen is still in shock.
Meanwhile in the Spider-Cave in Roosevelt Island, the whole place received an upgrade thanks to Tony Stark. The lair came with glass cases containing his previous suits, the wrestler suit, the first Spider-Man suit, and the fully restored Spider-Armor.
Peter is in his upgraded Spider-Man suit as he's using the new supercomputer to speak with Tony Stark who is on a jet heading back home.
"Anything?" Peter says to Tony.
"Nothing kid. Satellites couldn't get a read on these robots or were they came from or where the big one went to. It must've been cloaked, possibly it came equipped with retro reflection panels for stealth mode. Come to think of it, I should create a stealth suit of my own." Tony says to Peter.
"Tony, focus. I need to find out where these things came from before they strike back again." Peter says to Tony.
"Sorry kid, I've used up all my resources trying to find these bastards, but so far no luck. I'm sorry to be heading back home during this time, I've got a company to run and not to mention that there have been new threats emerging since last month, I need to be out there as Iron Man." Tony says to Peter.
"I understand. The world needs Iron Man. Don't worry Tony, I'll figure something out." Peter says to Tony.
"I know you will, you always do. Good luck kid." Tony ends transmission.
Peter is all alone in this fight against this Spider-Slayer as he's worried that he'll be no match for it since it seemed to be designed to combat Spider-Man's every moves.
Peter then sees a metal case in the cave that wasn't supposed to be there, he figured that might be the gift that Tony left for him. Peter got curious as to what Tony left for him as he came up to it. He was about to open it until he got a call from J Jonah Jameson, he pulled it out and answered the call.
"Hey Jameson, what's going on?" Peter says to Jameson.
"Parker, I need you back at the Bugle ASAP." Jameson says to Peter.
"What's this all about?" Peter is curious.
"I know that you were there at the expo before any reporter or photographer. Did you get any photos?" Jameson says to Peter.
"Yeah, I got them." Peter assured Jameson.
"Excellent, bring them immediately and I'll pay double for them." Jameson says to Peter.
"I'm on my way." Peter hangs up the phone.
Peter walked up to his backpack to pick up his camera that he used at the expo, he still has the photos in its memory.
"I'm still too busy figuring out who's behind the incident while Jameson is demanding the photos of the event. Not to mention that I haven't called Gwen back since yesterday. I can imagine what she must be going through right now." Peter says to himself.
Later in Queens, Gwen Stacy is all dressed as she's walking out of her house, she's still dealing with the recent changes that happened since last night.
"How did I get a change to my body all of a sudden. The last thing that I remember is that spider bit me. Could that spider have done something to me?" Gwen says in her thoughts.
Gwen walks down the street to see a kid playing with his dog by tossing frisbee, but the frisbee went out into the street as the dog chased after it.
"Hey boy! You shouldn't be out in the streets!"
Gwen felt a tingle in her head as she can't tell what's it's about, but she sees the boy chasing after the dog but a car is coming at them as Gwen felt the need to help out. She runs as fast as she can as the car is closing in. The driver sees a kid and a dog out in the middle of the streets as he steps on the brakes trying to stop in time, but the car is still coming closer.
Gwen ran up and caught the boy and his dog as she jump them away in time, she just save their lives. The car stopped as the driver got out to see the boy and the dog is safe and sound, but by who is a question. Everyone in the neighborhood rushed to see if the boy is alright, but none of them got a good look at the savior as she's long gone.
Gwen is hidden nearby as she was able to get away in time before anyone got a chance to see her face. But her biggest concerns is that she ran faster than she ever thought possible and that she jumped such heights to save them in time.
"How did I do that? I ran faster than I thought was possible and jump very far to save them. How is that possible?" Gwen says in her thoughts.
Gwen is still processing all that just happened, she ran faster than any human could possibly do, she had this tingling feeling in her head before the danger happened like it was warning her, she even remembers the towel being stuck to her hand like her hand was clinging to it. From the way she's describing herself, she's got powers like Spider-Man does.
"Did that spider bite give me powers like Spider-Man? Is it possible?" Gwen says in her thoughts.
Gwen thinks that she's got powers now thanks to the spider bite and that her powers are similar to that of Spider-Man.
Meanwhile back in the city at the Daily Bugle, Jameson is watching the news about the attack at the Stark Expo yesterday. Peter is in the office with Robbie as they listen to the news.
"It is still unknown who sent theses drones to attack the expo, but it was just luck that Spider-Man and Iron Man arrived in time to stop the attack, but unfortunately a number of lives were hurt but so far no causalities. After what happened in New York last month, the question remains. Is anyone safe?"
"Is anyone safe?! Thanks to that menace Spider-Man, no one in this city is safe! It's all his fault that these terrible things have happened to New York in the past year alone!" Jameson stated to his staff.
"But Jonah, he saved an entire school last year, he's helped a lot of people in the past year, he helped take down the Kingpin months ago, and just last month he and the Avengers saved the entire world." Robbie defends Spider-Man's actions.
"Things would've been better if he never showed up in the first place. Since his appearance last year, a number of enhanced individuals has rose up in the past year alone, heroes and villains alike. But after last month's invasion, the world has gotten even worse and uglier than ever before, theses days no one is safe thanks to these vigilantes taking matters into their own hands, and quite frankly, seem unconcerned about they leave behind. Too many innocent lives were lost on the invasion, people losing and mourning their loved ones who died. These heroes brought war to our city and they're not worried about the losses everyone suffered through." Jameson is still against heroes, especially Spider-Man.
Peter is listening to Jameson's words about last month's incident where everyone had died because they couldn't save them in time. When Spider-Man helped Thor returned home, he made an enemy out of Loki who brought vengeance to the city to hurt him. Peter couldn't help but felt a bit guilty for unintentionally bringing war to the planet whether he likes it or not.
"Parker, did you bring the photos?" Jameson asking Parker for the photos.
"Here they are, Jameson." Peter hands Jameson the photos.
Jameson took the photos off Peter's hands as he looked at Spider-Man and Iron Man fighting off the Spider-Slayers at the expo.
"Perfect, I'll give you 600 dollars for the photos." Jameson writes a check and gives it to Peter.
Peter took the check and walks out to the office until his spider sense is tingling, he sensed danger is nearby.
The office windows was broken as the Spider-Slayer burst inside and grabbed Jameson by the throat. Peter could see that Jameson is in danger as he runs to a place to change into his costume. Everyone panicked as a big robot has barged into the Bugle, they all ran away.
The Spider-Slayer still has Jameson at his throat.
"What do you want?" Jameson still in the Spider-Slayer's grip.
"I want the photographer who takes pictures of Spider-Man. I want Peter Parker." Spider-Slayer says to Jameson.
"I don't know where he is! Even if I did, I would never tell a monster like you! So do your worst!" Jameson refused to give up Peter.
"As you wish. Time to die, Mr. Jameson." Spider-Slayer threatens to kill Jameson.
Spider-Man made it in time as he dropkicked the robot and Jameson was freed from the robot's grip. Jameson sees that Spider-Man is here in person.
"We really need to stop meeting like this, Flattop." Spider-Man says with humor.
"Curse you, Spider-Man! My office is a wreck!" Jameson is pissed at Spider-Man.
"Geez Flattop, you have a strange way of saying thank you." Spider-Man says to Jameson.
The Spider-Slayer is getting back up as Jameson is running away from the fight. The Slayer turns around to see Spider-Man here at the Bugle.
"Spider-Man! Finally, we meet again." Spider-Slayer speaks to Spider-Man.
"This has to end, too many people are getting hurt." Spider-Man says to whoever is controlling the robot.
"It's too late! Everything that happened since last month is all your fault!" Spider-Slayer says to Spider-Man.
Spider-Man is shocked to hear those words but he got distracted as the Spider-Slayer flies towards Spider-Man and pushed him out of the Bugle and they're flying up in the air as the people on the ground are looking at the fight happening.
The Spider-Slayer is up in the air with Spider-Man in its grip as the web-slinger struggles to get free from it grip.
"This thing is too strong! At this rate, it'll crush me!" Spider-Man says in his thoughts.
Spider-Man tries to get freed from the robot's grip but still unsuccessful. He unleashed his spider drone from his suit to find a weak spot in the Spider-Slayer's hull. It found a weak spot in the neck as it uses its tasers to short circuit the wiring inside it causing it to go haywire.
(Bronx)
Spencer Smythe is using the controls to the Spider-Slayer until he see the screens giving off static and giving an unstable connection to the robot.
"What?!" Spencer Smythe is confused as to what's happening.
(New York City)
The Spider-Slayer is losing control as it's flight system is affected and it shuts down, forcing it to fall down from the air with Spider-Man in its grip.
"Come on Spidey! It's now or never!" Spider-Man struggles to get freed.
Spider-Man uses all his strength to break out of the Spider-Slayer's grip and managed to break free in time as he web swings away, he watched as the Spider-Slayer fell down hard onto the ground.
(Bronx)
Spencer Smythe is having trouble reestablishing the connection to the Spider-Slayer.
"Come on, reboot the system and bring it back online!" Spencer Smythe continues typing.
(New York City)
Spider-Man landed on the ground to check if it's disabled for good, but something unexpected happened, the Spider-Slayer came back online and swings his arm at Spider-Man, but the web-slinger jumped off the ground and ended up on the wall. The Spider-Slayer gets back up and is on its feet.
"Does this thing ever go down?" Spider-Man is disappointed.
Spider-Man fires off some webbing at the Slayer but it counters with its flamethrower, burning off the webbing before it touched him. The Spider-Slayer fires off some water at the wall where Spider-Man is clinging, Spider-Man slips off the wall as his clinging doesn't work on wet surfaces, he falls down onto a cab.
"Ow! Whoever built you, did his homework." Spider-Man is getting back up.
Spider-Man got off the cab and gets it off the ground, the Spider-Slayer aims it's wrist rocket at Spider-Man. Spidey tossed the cab hard at the Spider-Slayer but it fired off its rocket and blows up the cab. There's a lot of smoke around as the view is starting to clear but there's no sign of Spider-Man around.
(Bronx)
Spencer Smythe can see that Spider-Man is nowhere to be found as he disappears in the confusion.
"What the? Where did he go?" Spencer Smythe says to himself.
Spencer Smythe runs a diagnostic on the Spider-Slayer to see that it's still short circuited and suffered some damage from the blast.
(New York City)
The Spider-Slayer received new orders to return to base for repairs as it flies away from the scene. Spider-Man is hidden nearby to see that it's turning invisible and disappearing.
"It's gone, again." Spider-Man says to himself.
Spider-Man then sees the fire trucks and police cars coming towards the Daily Bugle.
Spider-Man sighed. "There's nothing I can do for now. I'll have to figure out the next moving in find it."
Spider-Man swings away from the scene and heads back to his headquarters.
Sometime later in a hospital in the city, Spencer Smythe came by to see his son Alistair who is in a coma since last month. Spencer took a seat next to his son's bed.
"Alistair, my boy, I'm sorry that I didn't come here sooner. I was too busy avenging you and your mother. It's not fair that your mother ended up dead at the hands of those blue creatures. But you took the worst of it, because of that invasion, those things attacked you and left you comatose and paralyzed. Those heroes should've protected us, but they weren't there and you and everyone else paid the price for their failure. Everyone may have forgotten that day, but I haven't. I swear on behalf of your mother, I will avenge you both and kill Spider-Man for all the pain and suffering he's causing, no matter the cost. I swear it... Rest easy son, I got work to do." Spencer says to his son Alistair.
Spencer got up and left the room leaving his son Alistair to rest as he's focused on continuing his mission to avenge his family by killing Spider-Man
Back in Forest Hills at the Watson Residence, Gwen is with Mary Jane and her pet dog Ms. Lion as they watched on the TV about the recent attack at the Daily Bugle.
"Approximately less than an two hours ago, the mysterious robot responsible for the attack at last night's expo strikes again at the Daily Bugle building and threaten the Bugle staff, including J Jonah Jameson. Thankfully Spider-Man arrived in time to save the editor-in-chief but couldn't stop the drone from escaping. Police are doing everything they can to prevent more attacks from happening and advised everyone to report any sightings of this automaton."
"First the Stark Expo and now the Daily Bugle, clearly someone is going through all the trouble to cause chaos. But for what purpose?" Mary Jane says to Gwen.
Gwen still remained quiet as she's got other things on her mind, like the recent changes that happened to her since she got bit by the super spider. Mary Jane could tell that Gwen isn't paying attention.
"Gwen?!" Mary Jane gets Gwen's attention.
"Huh? I'm sorry, did you say something?" Gwen snapped back to reality.
"Are you okay?" Mary Jane is curious.
"Yeah... just still a bit shaken up, that's all." Gwen tells Mary Jane.
"Because what happened at the Expo?" Mary Jane says to Gwen.
"Ah... yeah." Gwen says to Mary Jane.
"I know that yesterday was supposed to be a special day for you and Peter since it was his birthday. But you can't let something like this bring you down." Mary Jane says to Gwen.
"I guess I'm still getting use to how things are right now. The world changing since last month, new threats emerging, and now this thing is too much for Spider-Man to handle alone." Gwen says to Mary Jane.
"Yeah, this world needs more heroes besides Spider-Man and the Avengers. I hope that more will come, because the world needs them to." Mary Jane says to Gwen.
Gwen listen to Mary Jane's words about the world needing more heroes to defend it. Spider-Man is only one guy who fights to protect all of New York City from criminals, enhanced or not. But even he can't fight all criminals at once, this city needs another hero. Gwen thinks that she could be that new hero the world needs.
About an hour later at Roosevelt Island at the Spider-Cave, Spider-Man without his mask on is still working on a solution to find this Spider-Slayer that has been terrorizing around New York to find him.
"You're only the puppet, so where's the puppeteer?" Spider-Man is still thinking.
"Any luck?" Mary Jane came by to check on Peter.
"Nothing, this thing thing can cloak itself from satellites and anyone on the ground. It has been impossible to find where it came from." Peter has nothing to go on.
"First this robot attacked the Stark Expo, then it came at the Daily Bugle, why is this thing fixated on destroying you?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"He did say something that got my attention." Peter is thinking about the conversation with the Spider-Slayer.
"Like what?" Mary Jane is curious.
"He said what happened last month was all my fault." Peter told Mary Jane.
"What does that mean? What was all your fault?" Mary Jane is confused.
Peter snapped his fingers. "The invasion, the day that Loki attacked New York last month. That's gotta be the connection."
Peter is typing into the supercomputer to find the names of the victims from the invasion.
"What are you doing?" Mary Jane is curious.
"Tapping into NYPD and S.H.I.E.L.D. networks, checking the victims from last month's incident and see if they have friends or relatives who specialize in robotics or technology. Hopefully we'll get a lead." Peter is still searching.
The supercomputer is comparing the names of the victims who died last month and checking anyone who has specialty in advanced technologies, the computer got a hit and shows the file on Spencer Smythe.
"Got it, Spencer Smythe, age 58, it says here that he was a robotics engineer at Oscorp until he got fired last month for psychiatric problems. Apparently he lost his wife during the invasion and his son Alistair got attacked by one of the Frost Giants, he got paralyzed from the waist down and ended up in a coma." Peter reading Spencer Smythe's files.
"My god... this guys loses his family." Mary Jane is shocked.
"He said that it was my fault, perhaps he's right." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Peter... you didn't kill his wife, none of this was your fault." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Is it? Me and the Avengers were drawn into a trap while he was in the city starting his invasion, none of us were there to save anyone in time." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"But none of that was your fault. There has always been dangerous threats way before people with powers started showing up. We can't always predict when and where something terrible will happen. You do your best to save everyone as much as possible, that's all you can do. None of us would be here if you and the Avengers didn't come to our rescue and save our world from ending. We're all here because you chose to be a hero, it's who you are Tiger, it always has been." Mary Jane gave words of wisdom to Peter.
"Thank you MJ. I'm lucky to have you as a my friend." Peter smiled as he felt better.
"Anytime, Tiger." Mary Jane smiled at Peter.
"Okay, now that I know who behind all this, I just need to locate him. I'll try tracking his personal phone, hopefully he's still a creature of habit." Peter types into the supercomputer.
The supercomputer is tracking the personal phone of Spencer Smythe in hopes of locating him, he's using Stark satellites to track the phone and he got a location.
"Got it, he's hold up in the Bronx. Time to get going." Peter gets up and walks.
"Tiger, even if you do find him, how are you going to stop that thing? You've gone up against it twice and it knows all your moves. How do you plan to beat it?" Mary Jane is concerned.
"I'll do what I always do, improvise." Peter assured Maru Jane.
Mary Jane is still worried as she spotted the case that Tony Stark left for Peter.
"What is this?" Mary Jane looking at the case.
"Oh, that's the case that Tony left for me, he left a surprise for me." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Have you opened it yet?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"No, not yet. I was about to until JJ called me." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Shall we see what he gave you? Might be something cool." Mary Jane suggested to Peter.
"Oh come on, MJ. You think that whatever is in that case will be of help to me. Look, it's only..." Peter opens the case.
Peter and Mary Jane gasped as they see the surprise inside the case, they're still looking at the gift inside as they like what they see.
"Whoa!" Mary Jane smiled as she looked.
"I know!" Peter smiled too.
"Care to take it for a test run?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Why not?" Peter smiled at Mary Jane.
Back home at the Stacy Residence, Gwen all alone at her home, she is watching on the internet about past Spider-Man activities as she's studying the way he moves and fights, especially how he fires his webbing from his wrists.
"I wonder?" Gwen is curious.
Gwen tries to uses webbing from her wrists by imitating Spider-Man's hand movements by pressing both her fingers down to her palm of her hands, but so far nothing has happened.
"Am I doing it right?" Gwen says to herself.
She tries again but so far nothing, she examines the videos more closely and noticed something strapped to both Spider-Man's wrists, it looked like a pair of devices strapped to both of his wrists.
"Of course, he must've created something for the webs." Gwen figured it out.
Gwen then wanted to test out her newest abilities starting with her clinging ability, she does the pose like Spider-Man does for a jump. She then jumps on up onto the ceiling of her bedroom and managed to cling upside down, she looks around to see that everything is upside down to her.
Gwen laughed. "This is so awesome!"
Gwen got a bit overexcited as she lost control of her clinging and falls back down onto her floor.
"Ow! Maybe I still need some practice." Gwen laying on the floor.
It's nighttime in the Bronx at the hidden workshop where Spencer Smythe is fixing up the Spider-Slayer for another round of fighting Spider-Man. Spencer finished with the repairs as he runs a diagnostic test to see if everything is in order.
"Spider-Slayer, stand up!" Spencer Smythe orders the Spider-Slayer.
The Spider-Slayer comply with the order and stands up on his feet.
"Perfect, now all I have to do is find Spider-Man and finish what I started. Now I simply need to find a way to find him." Spencer Smythe says to himself.
The window ceiling got broken as something red and golden burst into the workshop, he lands in a three point stance. Spencer Smythe sees what appears to be Spider-Man in a new suit that is metallic red and gold.
"Spencer Smythe, so you're the man who created these robots." Spider-Man dressed in a new suit,
"What the?" Spencer Smythe is surprised by the new appearance.
"Like it? Courtesy of Iron Man, it's called the Iron Spider Armor." Spider-Man is now the Iron Spider.
"New outfit or not, you'll always be the same man who caused me nothing but misery." Spencer Smythe isn't too happy.
"I know who you are Spencer Smythe and I know why you're doing this. This is all about your family, isn't it!" Spider-Man says to Spencer Smythe.
"Don't you dare speak their names! It's all your fault that my family is broken! My wife is dead and my son is in a coma, you weren't there! None of you heroes were there to save them!" Spencer Smythe is bitter in his voice.
"And what about all those people you've hurt to get to me?" Spider-Man reminded him about the people who got hurt by his creation.
"Those people deserve it! You think they deserve to be happy with their lives while mines is destroyed! How is that fair, huh?! How is that right?!" Spencer Smythe is angry.
"Those people are innocent, they had nothing to do with what happened to your family. It's not right for you justify your actions by attacking them!" Spider-Man
"I don't care, nothing matter to be anymore but my hatred for you. Turns out that someone else hates you too." Spencer Smythe hinted the Master Planner.
"Who?" Spider-Man is curious about this other person.
"You'll be surprised when you find out who. He's a man who shares my vendetta against you and helped me set up this workshop and provide me the resources needed to build my Spider-Slayers. All this effort just so I can kill you." Spencer Smythe says to Spider-Man.
"This ends here and now." Spider-Man says to Spencer Smythe.
"For once, I agree with you." Spencer Smythe hold the remote and pressed the button.
The Spider-Slayer is back online as Spider-Man is surprised to it activated.
"Kill him!" Spencer Smythe orders the Spider-Slayer.
The Spider-Slayer turned invisible thanks to the retro reflection panels as Spider-Man can't see it, Spencer Smythe retreated to safe distance leaving Spider-Man to battle his creation. Spider-Man still can't see it since it's invisible but his spider sense is tingling as he backflips away as he sensed something attacking him.
"How am I going to fight something I can't see?" Spider-Man still dodging the Spider-Slayer.
Spider-Man jumped up and clings to the wall as he's still having trouble finding the Spider-Slayer.
"Hold on, this suit is equipped with infrared scanners. This thing still needs power and it generates heat. I can scan it's heat signature." Spider-Man says in his thoughts.
Spider-Man activates the Iron Spider's scanners as he's looking around to find the cloaked Spider-Slayer. He found a large heat signature nearby, he looked around and found a tank of nitrogen as he webs it to his hand.
"Here, take this." Spider-Man tossed the nitrogen tank.
The tank bursted onto the Spider-Slayer as it starts to de-cloak itself from exposure to liquid nitrogen but it's still not effective to stop it.
"Great, I only succeeded in de-cloaking it. Now to figure out how to stop it." Spider-Man still clinging to the wall.
The Spider-Slayer lifts off the ground and fires off its weapons at Spider-Man but he swings out of the way and continues to dodge every attack coming his way. The Spider-Slayer changes its tactics as it unleashed a smokescreen all around the room blinding everyone inside it. Spider-Man is having trouble navigating through the smoke.
"Now where did he go?" Spider-Man is still searching.
He got grabbed by surprise as the Spider-Slayer has Spider-Man in its grips. It's then proceed to squeezing the life out of Spider-Man as the web-slinger is struggling to get out.
"It's trying to squeeze me again. Come on Spidey, time for a new trick, if you got any?" Spider-Man is being squeezed.
The Iron Spider activated it's other functions, from the back of the suit it unleashed four mechanical spider legs as they all strikes back at the Spider-Slayer's joints and causing it to short circuit again, Spider-Man uses the legs to free himself and jumped away from the Spider-Slayer. Spider-Man is amazed by the suit's new features.
"Nice! Tony has out done himself again." Spider-Man says in his thoughts.
The Spider-Slayer is still a bit haywire but still functional as it remained still flying in the air and looking at Spider-Man with his spider legs.
"Now time to finish this!" Spider-Man says to the Spider-Slayer.
Spider-Man uses the legs to give him a boost as he strikes with all four of his spider legs and pierces through the Spider-Slayer's hull and continues piercing it causing more damage inside.
Spencer Smythe runs towards the scene as he sees Spider-Man tearing the Spider-Slayer apart with his metal spider legs.
"No, no! This can't be happening!" Spencer Smythe is disappointed.
Spider-Man sees an opening in the Spider-Slayer's hull as he uses all his strength to pull apart the hull and looks inside to see the power source.
"One strike should do it." Spider-Man has one spider legs ready.
The spider leg strikes at the heart of the Spider-Slayer and pierced it, causing the Spider-Slayer to lose power. Spider-Man jumped off as it falls down but he didn't noticed that Spencer Smythe is here. Spencer Smythe looks as the Spider-Slayer is falling towards him.
"Ahh!!!" Spencer Smythe screamed in fear.
The Spider-Slayer crashed down on top of Spencer Smythe as Spider-Man is shocked to find the man has been crushed.
"No!!!" Spider-Man yelled out.
Spider-Man jumps down to check if Spencer Smythe has survived, he got a closer look to see the man is barely alive as he's trapped by the now dead Spider-Slayer.
Spencer Smythe coughed out blood. "You've defeated my Spider-Slayer. Now leave and let me die."
"It's still not too late to save you. I can help you!" Spider-Man tries to save Spencer Smythe.
"You can't save me, I'm already far too gone. I've seen to it." Spencer Smythe smiled as he's still dying.
The Spider-Slayer activates a timer as it has a self destruct mechanism built inside it. Spider-Man's suit have him an alert as there are explosives all around the building, the whole place is about to blow up soon.
"Oh god... Come on, Spencer! Let me save you! This isn't worth it!" Spider-Man tries to lift the Spider-Slayer.
"It's always worth it, at least you'll die with me." Spencer Smythe smiles with pride.
Spider-Man is running out of time as the countdown is less than 15 seconds, the Iron Spider suit activates its auto functions as the suit is programmed to protect the wearer, the spider legs became active as they jumped off the ground with Spider-Man as he's forced to leave Spencer Smythe behind to die.
The Iron Spider suit got Spider-Man out in time as the whole building just exploded with Spencer Smythe still inside it.
Spider-Man made to the ground as he watched the whole building burn up in flames, he couldn't save a man in time, even if that man tried to kill him. Spider-Man turns around to see fire trucks arriving to the scene along with police and reporters.
Meanwhile in an underwater base near Manhattan, The Tinkerer is watching the news along with a shadowy figure hiding his identity.
"We are here in the Bronx as a building was blown up by a battle between Spider-Man and the Spider-Slayer that was responsible for the recent attacks on the Stark Expo and the Daily Bugle. Police and firefighters were able to find the body of Spencer Smythe, a former employee of Oscorp who was responsible for the creation of the Spider-Slayer. The people of New York can rest easy with the Spider-Slayer now gone, the streets of New York City is safe."
"Looks like Smythe has failed." Tinkerer says to the Master Planner.
"No matter, Mason. He served his purpose, thanks to him, we've gather the data on Spider-Man to be studied so that when the time has come, we'll be ready to take him down." Master Planner says to Tinkerer.
The Master Planner plays videos collected by Spencer Smythe showing off Spider-Man's moves, all his strengths and his weaknesses.
"How do you plan to kill him? He's not so easy to kill." Tinkerer learned from experience.
"Not alone, for this to work, I'll need a team of villains to combat Spider-Man." Master Planner has a plan.
"How many are you planning to recruiting?" Tinkerer is curious.
"I like to keep it small, and I have the perfect candidates in mind." Master Planner is forming a team of villains to fight Spider-Man.
It's still nighttime in Queens as Peter has returned home after succeeding in stopping the Spider-Slayer but he failed to save Spencer Smythe from death. He's all dressed in his regular clothes as he puts the Iron Spider Armor in the closet. The door knocked as May is outside the door.
"Peter, can I come in?" May asking Peter.
"Sure," Peter says to May.
May enter the bedroom to see that Peter has something on his mind, something troubling.
"What's wrong?" May is worried for Peter.
"A man is dead because I couldn't save him. I know that he did terrible things in order to kill me, but he was just a broken man who lost his family." Peter says to May.
"Peter, you can't blame yourself for what that man has become. I know that you tried to help him, but you can't help someone if they won't take it. He made his choice, he chose to become a criminal rather than accept anyone's help. You can't change the past as much as we want to, all we can do is move forward and live your life, that's all anyone can do." May gave words of wisdom.
"Sometimes I feel like everything I do is never enough. Like I'm not really making a big difference." Peter says to May.
"You're wrong, you've made a huge difference for the rest of the world, because of you and the Avengers we still have a tomorrow worth living for. Everyone in the entire world is able to live their lives because you chose to become a hero, you've changed everything for everyone. If Ben were here right now, he be very proud of the hero you've become. Everyone's lives is great because you chose to become Spider-Man. Don't ever forget that." May says more words of wisdom.
Peter smiled as he felt better. "Thank you Aunt May."
Peter and May hugged each other for comfort, Peter is happy that he's got his Aunt and Mary Jane in his lives to give him strength to keep on going through tough times, a part of him is proud to become Spider-Man.
Their hug got interrupted by the doorbell ringing, someone is outside the door. Peter and May broke off the hug.
"I'll go check who's at the door." Peter walks out of the room.
Peter is walking downstairs as he still thinks about what May said.
"Aunt May is right, I've changed everything since last year when I showed myself to the world and made a big difference as Spider-Man. I've helped a lot of lives and stopped theses who hurt the innocents. A part of me is glad that I've become Spider-Man. But even so, I'm only one guy and there are very few heroes in the world. This world needs news heroes to help protect this world. The only question is where am I going to find one?" Peter says in his thoughts.
Peter opened the door to see Gwen Stacy outside.
"Gwen?" Peter is surprised.
"Hi Pete, is this a bad time?" Gwen says to Peter.
"Oh no, of course not. I'm just glad to see you given everything that has happened since yesterday." Peter says to Gwen.
"Oh, of course, that big robot ruining the expo, it's too bad that we haven't finished our date." Gwen says to Peter.
"Yeah, but I'll make it up to you Gwen, I promise." Peter says to Gwen.
"I'll hold you to that." Gwen says to Peter.
Peter could see that Gwen has something else on her mind beside what happened at the expo.
"Is everything alright?" Peter says to Gwen.
"Ah... yeah. Why wouldn't it be?" Gwen is nervous.
"Because I know you Gwen. Is there something else you wanted to tell me?" Peter says to Gwen.
"Like?" Gwen says to Peter.
"Anything you need to get off your chest, I'm all ears." Peter says to Gwen.
"Peter... how do I look like to you?" Gwen is curious.
"What do you mean?" Peter is confused.
"Am I... different to you? What do you think of me? Do I seem changed to you?" Gwen is curious about Peter's opinion.
"Not at all, you're still the same Gwen Stacy that had always been my friend since childhood, the same girl that I fell in love with. Nothing will ever make me see you differently because I love you Gwen, I always have." Peter smiled at Gwen.
"You're such a... I love you Peter." Gwen smiled as she leaned in and kiss Peter.
Peter is kissing Gwen back as he's very lucky to have a girlfriend like Gwen Stacy in his life, she's his first true love. They stopped kissing as they looked at each other's eyes.
"I love you Gwen, I'll always love you." Peter smiled at Gwen.
Gwen is happy that Peter loves her and that nothing will make him see her differently, but a part of her still hesitate telling him the truth about the changes that happened to her, her new powers.
"So... want to finish our date another time?" Gwen says to Peter.
"Can't wait. Goodnight Gwen." Peter says to Gwen.
"Goodnight Peter." Gwen leaned in for another kiss.
Peter and Gwen kissed again as she leaves his house, Peter watched as Gwen is walking back to her house, Peter smiled as Gwen makes him whole as himself and as Spider-Man.
Gwen is all alone walking back to her house as she's still hiding the truth about herself from Peter.
"I wonder if I should've told him. But I worry that he might see me differently, that I'm not the same girl that he fell in love with. Peter is the best thing thats ever happened to me, I love him so much, I don't want to lose him." Gwen says in her thoughts.
"Gwen Stacy!" Madame Web's voice.
Gwen looks around after she heard a woman's voice in her head, but she sees nothing.
"Who was that? Is my head playing tricks on me?" Gwen is confused.
"Not exactly." Madame Web's voice.
"Okay, whoever you are, show yourself!" Gwen is still looking around.
"As you wish." Madame Web came out of the shadows.
Gwen sees a red haired woman in a coat wearing red shades.
"Who are you?" Gwen is curious.
"My name is Julia Carpenter, but you may call me Madame Web." Madame Web introduced herself to Gwen.
"What do you want?" Gwen is curious.
"You... I'm here to help guide you to your destiny, Gwen Stacy." Madame Web revealed her intentions.
Gwen is still confused as to who this Madame Web is, but she's more curious about this destiny that Gwen has. She's has a feeling that she'll soon find out what this destiny is.
