Three weeks being at Hogwarts and Chandra hated it. She hated the house she was put in, the stuck up little brats that filled all four houses, and she hated that she couldn't find a good place to have a smoke. Umbridge had begun to set her own rules and they frankly made Chandra uncomfortable and made her job even more stressful and she had never wanted a smoke this bad in her life.
She walked into the forbidden forest, humming to herself. She kicked rocks out of her path as she walked. After a few moments she found a clearing and looked around for anyone. Finding nobody, she sat against the twisted roots of a tree and placed a cigarette between her lips. As she lit it she heard someone come up behind her.
"Chandra!"
Chandra threw her head back letting smoke escape her mouth as she groaned.
"Jesus fucking christ, Hermione!"
"I thought you quit."
"Do you want people to die?"
"No."
"Then I will keep smoking."
Hermione rolled her eyes, putting her hands in her pockets. She watched as her cousin smoked, not giving two fucks about her lungs. As Chandra put out her cigarette Hermione decided to ask.
"Why did you come here?"
"Finish my education."
"Then why did Bella have something to do with it?"
"Maybe she likes me."
"Oh you'd love to think that wouldn't you."
Chandra looked at her red faced cousin and smiled.
"Oh yes, yes I would."
Chandra watched as Hermione grew even more agitated. She lit another cigarette and looked at her.
"Don't like that do ya!? Why don't you just calm the fuck down I'm not trying to take your bitch."
Hermione took a second to calm herself and sat beside Chandra. Chandra looked down and grinned, smoke seeping out from between her teeth.
"But I could if I wanted too."
Hermione drew back, ready to hit her but quickly changed her mind. Instead she shoved her hand into her robe pocket and pulled out her cigarettes. She got up and waved them in her face. Chandra felt her pocket and looked at her with a pissed expression.
Hermione's eyes went wide as Chandra sprang to her feet, grabbing her arm. Hermione struggled against the stronger woman but Chandra simply plucked her smokes from her hand and let go, letting her stumble back.
"Don't touch them. Their expensive."
She sucked down the last drag and tossed the filter off into the distance. She let the smoke escape quickly before looking at her cousin.
"Your getting really jumpy for someone who hasn't even admitted yall are together."
Hermione went to speak but stopped.
"Exactly. Man up Hermione."
"Fine. I like her. I don't know why but I do."
Chandra smiled and nudged her shoulder.
"The same as me. The darkness, insanity, danger...beauty."
Hermione shook her head, sitting back down.
"She is beautiful but I didn't see any of that. Other than one time she never hurt me, never raised her voice…"
Chandra looked at her cousin for a moment before kneeling down in front of her.
"You ever think you didn't see it because she's different towards you...maybe because she likes you."
"I know she does."
"Then what is your malfunction, Hermione."
Hermione looked down, playing with a rock, which caused Chandra to snap her fingers.
"Don't think too hard, you'll put both of y'all in pain."
Hermione looked her cousin in the eyes and groaned.
"That! That's my malfunction Chandra. I feel like you two are keeping things from me!"
"Well were not fucking if that's what you think."
"No shit! There is something going on with you!"
Chandra stood up and backed up a bit, crossing her arms. Listening to Hermione.
"You suddenly show up here. Then you appear out of nowhere at strange times. You are never at meals until you're asked about, like you know someone is looking for you."
Chandra bit her ring as she scrunched her nose.
"Where are you going during meals Chandra? I don't doubt for a moment that you know how to apparate."
"I'm in my dormitory"
"No, your not, that's a lie."
"No it's not."
"Really because you're chewing on metal."
Chandra let her ring free from her teeth and sighed, pushing her hair back roughly.
"Look you can't know everything yet. But I'll just tell you. You need to get the stick out of your ass because a lot of what everyone is doing is for you."
Hermione looked at her, confused.
"Everyone?"
"Yes everyone."
"Who is everyone?"
"None of your business at the moment, mione."
Hermione groaned and laid her head back against the tree.
"Hermione, who am i?"
"My bitchy cousin."
"And has your bitchy cousin ever steered you wrong?"
Hermione sighed and seemed to calm down a bit.
"No."
"Good. Now, don't you have a class to get too?"
"Its Saturday…"
"Want a butterbeer?"
Hermione laughed at her and took her outstretched hand. Chandra pulled her up and hugged her before they started walking out of the forest.
Malfoy manor
Bellatrix rubbed her head. As Narcissa held a glass of her usual drink out to her. Bella took the glass and sat up as her sister sat next to her and spoke softly.
"Well, it wasn't bad this time, it was pretty quick actually."
"Because Chandra was there."
Narcissa smiled a bit but it faded quickly.
"Draco has been sending me letters. He said that Umbridge is trying to take over the school, she supposedly used a blood quill on Potter and from what I've heard she's not in the least bit fond of Chandra. Are you sure she can keep this up?"
"It doesn't matter now, it won't be much longer now."
Narcissa looked at her sister with worry evident in her expression.
"What happened?"
"She wanted to be a deatheater. So she will be."
"And have you thought of how Hermione will take it?"
"Yes. I'm just lucky she won't be there when it happens. Tom is not pleased about her terms."
Narcissa looked down at her hands as she let the information sink in.
"Bella, did you really have to do this?"
"It was her request, not mine."
Narcissa nodded slowly then placed her hand on Bella's leg, making her sister look over to her.
"Just be careful Bella. Don't hurt her."
"I don't want to, Cissy. Like I've been saying for over a month, it will be hard. I will not hurt her but if Tom finds out about the prophecy he will make me."
"Then you turn on him."
Bella's whole body went stiff. Narcissa glared at her before leaving the room. Bella sighed as her head started to hurt once more. She tried to stop thinking but her thoughts just kept breaking through. The thought of Hermione being in pain too just made it worse. She helped her head and grit her teeth as the pain got worse.
The three broomstick
Chandra panicked as she walked to the table and saw Hermione with her head down and her arms laying over her. She forced her to sit up and looked at her. Hermione found it hard to keep her eyes open because of the pain.
Chandra racked her mind trying to think of what to do she looked around, luckily nobody had noticed anything yet. She looked at the bar and back to Hermione, who was now gritting her teeth. Chandra ran to the bar.
Hermione had grabbed the side of her head and started to get up when Chandra grabbed her arm. Hermione looked at her cousin who was smiling, holding a bottle of firewhiskey.
"Happy early birthday mione, we're staying here the rest of the weekend."
Hermione started to protest but before she could pain shot down her neck. As she groaned Chandra pulled her up the stairs and into the room she had just paid for. She let Hermione sit on the bed as she poured her a glass.
"We're going to drink, smoke, and listen to some muggle music."
Hermione laughed through the pain and spoke in a harsh tone.
"Your heavy metal shit isn't going to calm me down!"
Chandra turned to her with a freshly lit cigarette and threw her hands up.
"Well Damn Hermione, you choose the damn music!"
Hermione laughed and held her head. Chandra sighed and took the cigarette from her mouth and held it out to Hermione along with the glass of firewhiskey.
"Choose."
Hermione snatched the cigarette out of her hand making Chandra go quiet for a moment. She watched as Hermione sucked it down and reached over dropping the butt into the whiskey.
She quickly picked the filter out of the drink and sipped from the glass, watching as Hermione laid back holding her head. Chandra waved her wand and the room filled with soft music, it made her cringe but she knew Hermione liked it.
After a while of watching her cousin she could see that she was calming down. Eventually she sat up and rubbed her neck. Chandra stirred her drink with her finger while staring at her. When Hermione looked at her she could hear a light groan.
"What Chandra, you look like you're about to ask something."
"Does she know you smoke?"
"I don't smoke."
Chandra whispered a quiet 'yeah, okay' before taking a deep drink. She looked at her, she could tell she was still in pain. Chandra didn't even know if this was helping on both ends, or who caused the pain. She just felt like she needed to try to help.
"Wanna watch people get murdered?"
"Are you serious? There isn't television here."
"Oh sweet mione, if I can give you muggle music don't you think I can give you the excitement of a slasher flick?"
Hermione looked at her, her head still ringing with a dull pain. She gave her a look that was full of confusion and skepticism.
"Choose your slasher villain."
Hermione groaned and fell back on the bed. She knew Chandra could do magic she hadn't ever thought of. She rolled her eyes.
"Freddy."
"Ugh. Okay. Well if you're wondering I'm using my memories for us to view the movies here."
Hermione rolled her eyes and groaned as her head went cloudy again.
"What is happening with her?"
"She's worried, mione. It will be okay."
Chandra waved her wand and a wispy grey fog appeared in front of them. Chandra brought her wand to her temple and extracted a memory. When the memory made contact with fog it sprung to life with color and music.
"It's kinda like a pensieve."
Hermione nodded and rolled her eyes. Chandra huffed and laid against the headboard, taking a cigarette out of the pack. She looked at Hermione from the corner of her eye as she sat the pack between them. Within seconds Hermione slowly took one.
"I saw that."
"Shut up and watch the movie ,I'm in pain."
Chandra smiled and lit her cigarette, throwing her the spare lighter. Chandra took a drag as she thought about everything. She hoped this didn't happen often. She had never seen her cousin so broken.
