Dear Diary,

Is it wrong for me to distrust Sanderson? We all saw Berk throw money, there was no weapon, money was in the wind before the shot. He did keep bits of information from Jack during the investigation. There's something that just doesn't seem quite right. I can't say anything to Jack of course, the Deputy Commissioner was his father in law, but I'm sure I saw him frown – he noticed – he saw – Sanderson had no need to shoot Berk – unless Berk was about to incriminate the DC in some nefarious dealings.

I shall have to keep an eye on him.

I shall come back to this, I think Sanderson will reappear to irk me and even Jack.

He did, but only slightly. He tried to push Jack into holding a suspect in the murder of a football player over night – to keep the game sweet – as if a footie game could ever be sweet!

He gives me the creeps!

I suppose he kept out of the way, though I have no doubt he is ruminating on something.

Oh hell! Damn the man! He handed over the gratitude girls case to a man whose name starts with an 'O' – Catholic just to appease the Bishop! And he told Jack to bring me to heel – like a dog – how rude! Definitely not Commissioner material, the Commissioner should be a gentleman – and George bloody Sanderson is emphatically NOT a gentleman! I wonder why Hall resigned – pound to a pinch of snuff Sanderson is blackmailing him, weasly little oik!

Jack tells me he threatened him with losing his job! Hah! Jack should be elevated to sainthood – he stuck his neck out to go and see how the supposed raid was going on, only to find Sanderson standing aimlessly on the dock with De Vere and a couple of his hired lackeys at the base of the gangplank to the Pandarus. If he hadn't come along those poor girls would be half way to the Middle East by now and I would be floating in the bay!

Sanderson truly believed that he could get away with anything because of his position.

Even after writing my notes about the case, I still have to get it off my chest about Sanderson – he even tried to say that Joan was a guttersnipe not to be believed or trusted – Aunt P is giving her the best references and hiring her a fine lawyer.

Sanderson is the worst of humanity, using his position for his own gain, treading on the little people to climb up the ladder - I hope he rots in jail!
